No. I didn't say that really. Just that some systems have more than two
speakers, and headphones used to be a separate category. (Maybe it still
is.) you will learn a lot hby experimenting - your computer won't go
extinct because of it!

 Flor,

 On my laptop, I use external speakers, so are you saying, I would
 still hear
 sounds through them?

 On one theory, you would still had headphone sounds, if the speakers
 referred to external speakers. Some systems do operaqe like that.

 hello there;

 the real give away in that dialog box is;
 mute speakers button,
 obviously, doing this, you will definitely have no sounds at all.
 I have never try the mute system sounds, so I don't know.

 I have now answered my question, and David got it right. I'm not sure
 what the system sounds Mute really refers to, but it isn't the
 overall
 thing I had envisaged. (There are, of course, different tab controls
 in
 that dialogue.)

That's the mute speakers button, by pressing the tab key once. The
Mute

System Sounds button is four tab further on than that, so you'd press
the tab key five times to get to it.

An easier command to type, is: from the Start (search box edit);
sndvol

.
(You may remember sndvol32.exe on older Windows 32-bit systems.) You
get

straight to the dialogue box, typing less, that way.

Hello Joni,

If you are running windows seven you can:
1. press start button
2. type in adjust system volume and press enter.
3. tab once and press spacebar to unmute

I hope this helps. You can mute it the first time you try this and
the next time it will unmute the computer. If you do this a few
times

you will get comfortable in doing these steps.

 That's the mute speakers button, by pressing the tab key once. The
 Mute
 System Sounds button is four tab further on than that, so you'd press
 the tab key five times to get to it.

 An easier command to type, is: from the Start (search box edit);
 sndvol
 .
 (You may remember sndvol32.exe on older Windows 32-bit systems.) You
 get
 straight to the dialogue box, typing less, that way.

 I hope this helps. You can mute it the first time you try this and

When I tab once into the volume dialogue after typing sndvol , on my Toshiba
laptop using Windows7 there is the Mute Speakers Button. The Mute System
Sounds button is four tab key presses further on than that.

 That's the mute speakers button, by pressing the tab key once. The
 Mute
 System Sounds button is four tab further on than that, so you'd press
 the tab key five times to get to it.

 An easier command to type, is: from the Start (search box edit);
 sndvol

 (You may remember sndvol32.exe on older Windows 32-bit systems.) You
 get
 straight to the dialogue box, typing less, that way.

 That's the mute speakers button, by pressing the tab key once. The
 Mute
 System Sounds button is four tab further on than that, so you'd
 press
 the tab key five times to get to it.

 An easier command to type, is: from the Start (search box edit);
 sndvol

No. I didn't say that really. Just that some systems have more than two
speakers, and headphones used to be a separate category. (Maybe it still
is.) you will learn a lot hby experimenting - your computer won't go

On one theory, you would still had headphone sounds, if the speakers
referred to external speakers. Some systems do operaqe like that.
