Re: [JAWS-Users] no jaws key on laptop
Hi guys, One of my laptops has the insert to the right of the delete key, and my small HP Stream 11, to get the insert key, you have to press the FN key and the print screen key. That is different LOL! I am so used to it now, that I do it without even thinking about it. I like practicing and using as many different layouts as possible, so I can use any computer anyone has LOL! Take care. -Original Message- From: Reed Sent: Tuesday, July 5, 2016 8:01 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] no jaws key on laptop Hi Tom, On my laptop, much to my disappointment, the key to the left of the delete key is either End or Insert. Re: [JAWS-Users] no jaws key on laptop
Hi Yes, under the basics menu in jaws there is a selection for laptop. This will enable the capslock as the jaws key. The command for links is: jaws key plus f7. Go into basics under the file menu on the jaws screen and set your keyboard layout to laptop rather than desktop. This change will make the caps lock your jaws key, so whenever you would hold down insert to perform a function, instead hold down caps lock. For example, caps lock f7 will list links. Re: [JAWS-Users] youtube jaws key strokes
1. Insert z to turn off the virtual curser. 2.while the youtube audio is playing pressing j, k, or l will rewind, pause or fast forward respectively. I wish there was a keystroke to do the same with volume, but for now I've heard one must tab to a slider and change the volume there. 3. Remember to press insert z to turn on the virtual curser after you are done so you can use jaws normally. [JAWS-Users] Removing Jaws key- Adding Back to Count
Hello, How do I remove my Jaws key from my PC running XP Pro and add it back to my available Jaws keys? I have had multiple PC failures and have used lots of keys. I do not want to call FS again to bump up my count if I do not have to. I am about to re-install Windows on a PC and want to remove the Jaws key, add it back to my count, so when I reinstall Jaws on that PC and activate Jaws I would not have used any additional keys. Re: [JAWS-Users] the jaws key j combination
Ah, this is one of the querks of the laptop layout. When you press caps lock J, it did what the old alt j did, which is to move to and speak the prior word. I guess to resolve this, you should change or remove the keystroke from within Keyboard Manager and change insert j to caps lock j. Hope that helps. For some reason on the laptop layout, the caps key and won't bring up the window for the jaws context, yet insert j does. Aren't these two keystrokes jut about identical? I know of one other instance that the insert key is needed but I as thinking maybe the caps lock j command will be put into effect son. I find it so much easier using that one with my left hand versus the insert which is way up at the uppr right of the keyboard and tricky to hol down and do other things. Hope this made some sense.
