Mario,

As the original exerpt from the JAWS Tandem Quick Start Guide
stated:

Note: Remote Clipboard will not transfer files." (end quote)

However, you can copy and cut files from one place on her computer to
another place on her computer.

I wanted to copy the address for Microsoft's Security (Safety)

because I heard of pressing insert+alt+tab to switch from her

I realize she will have to download and install the same version of

Use the CTRL + C keystroke to copy text with formatting from the target
system, and then use CTRL + V to paste text into a file on the controller
system. This is ideal for support personnel who want to copy specific text
from a log file on the target system.
Note: Remote Clipboard will not transfer files." (end quote)

Further to this, you cannot copy text from your Controller computer
to the target computer, so you will have to either type in the link you want
her to have or send it to her by E-mail.

When you are in a JAWS Tandem session, it is just as if you are
sitting physically in front of her computer, so everything will act
according to the settings on her PC, including her 40-minute mode of JAWS.

I use JAWS Tandem frequently and find it very useful. However, for
security reasons, it does have its limitations.

Hope this helps,

Don

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Tandum, passing my clip board

hi gang, I might have the need to tandem with a friend to check out what's
the problem with her ailing computer, and I have a question I can't find an
answer to. rather than having my question not worded to explain what it is I
want to do, here it is:

I wanted to copy the address for Microsoft's Security (Safety) Scanner from
my computer to use it to download and run it on her computer during the
session. I expect not, but wasn't absolutely sure because I heard of
pressing insert+alt+tab to switch from her computer to my computer, (and
possibly back to her computer, although this wasn't mentioned), and thought
there might be a way of pasting some text, or even a file, from my clip
board to her computer after switching back to her computer.

I realize she will have to download and install the same version of the
version I use, but will the tandem session talk at the demo speed or my
speed?

and are there any limitations of:

what I can do since her copy of JAWS is running as a demo?

what I can do as the controller if she had her own licensed copy of JAWS
running?

2011-12-04 Thread Trish
You know, I get unfavorable remarks from many who want to know why I choose to
have FS as my home page in IE. I try to explain, it's of course my choice to
have whatever, but face it. For me and here again, my choice to make, Jaws is
the reason I can use a computer. So it makes perfect sense to me to have the
one thing crucial to enabling me to use these computers where I can get to it
in a hurry should I need to figure out something pertaining to it.
Is this any different from those who can drive who choose to keep their car's
manual in their glove box handy?
It's all about choice and my choice is jaws, and that tandem feature is an
incredible feature like you mentioned here. I'm far from knowing all of how
jaws works and all that stuff, which is why I am on your list smiles.

In the three years since it arrived on the seen it has made my life easier
and harder at the same time. Easier in that I can get more things done much
faster than simply talking somebody else through the process, and harder
because now I can do things on systems that I would never consider walking
another person through such a process. In short given me more work but over
all it is to me the best feature to come along since the ability to put JAWS
in the system trey.

The faster part gives me more time to have a personal life, thank you

I don't need to know where it is, how to use it, why it works...

I just want to say, it's a marvelous function of jaws and without it,things
would progress much slower while getting help.

Now I bet none of y'all had this happen upon getting a new computer, but
only me...

It came up speaking Chinese. I had my bro in law and we all heard it
speaking this as wellas he was trying to assist me, but unfortunately, we
are just plain Texans with our own unique language I might add, but this one
had us in a pickle.

I have no idea what he did nor does he, but some how it got on English. I
think I must have done something by pressing keys for narrator and getting
it on Chinese, it was a challenge I do not want to repeat.

The windows narrator works very well in win/7 the voice Anna is very clear
as well, in case y'all need or want to know, sure beats chinese, lol.

Now that is a new one on me! We Europeans usually speak more than one
language but Chinese is not among those! I know that jaws comes
up in the system language on the box it is installed onbut it must
have confused your Taxan accents for Chinese. *giggle*

Being a nonnative speaker of English, A Southern - and a Texan
accent in particular - took some getting used to when we first
encountered it many years ago but it didn't sound quite like Chinese.
But then a friend from Texas during an English teaching campaign put
on by my husband's church mistook a French exchange student who had
enrolled in the English classes for a Chinese at first ... *g*

glad you got your problem fixed and thanks for sharing the story.
I'll keep this. *g*
