Elaine, I'm not sure how you got to those four buttons without having
completed the installation and setup which includes accepting the license
agreement. So maybe you have done that in which case you are good to go.

Re: [JAWS-Users] registering Advanced System Care help

2008-12-12 Thread Elaine

hiya Marilyn

thanks for replying.

I purchased the pro edition because the free one wasn't optimising anything.

any way, I have the program installed but the next step says:

2) Open Advanced SystemCare 3, click "Upgrade" button at the left bottom,
and click "Enter License Now", then enter the registration information as
follows:

the problem with the above is, once I click the upgrade button it takes me
back to the web page I don't see any "enter licence" boxes.

but to me, jaws cant see this window properly any way as it's reading items
off my desktop instead of buttons in the program.

I've tried maximising the window, to force jaws to see this window but it
doesn't appear to work.

I just wondered if anyone else had managed to successfully update this free
program to pro, and if so, how did they do it.

this is very strange and rather annoying as I've always managed to register
programs before, just cant appear to do so with this.

thanks again

Elaine

All I can say is hit the scan button leave it for around three mins then hit
the repair button most things are checked but if you have a sighty about get
them to check the check marks to make sure there checked and if possible let
them have a look again the next time you run it just to see if all the check
marks are still checked that is what I am going to do after I send of a

2008-12-12 Thread Lennie Rinaldi

Elaine,

Are you saying that the free version of Advanced SystemCare is
worthless? I understand it when you say that you need sighted
assistance to register the pro version.

My question is this. I have the free version on my PC and when I do a
scan, it gives me a list of items to be repaired. However, it seems
that we cannot do a repair unless we purchase the pro version. Is
this correct? Am I missing something?

Thanks for any advice.

Re: [JAWS-Users] registering Advanced System Care help

2008-12-12 Thread Elaine

hiya

yep, when I completed a scan with the free version, I read with the jaws
cursor on screen that the program will not remove or optimise anything until
you upgrade to pro. so, in short, you have to buy pro.

I don't know if my jaws is set up differently or something, but I'm not
seeing any check boxes Hugh mentioned and I cant see why I'm not, but I'm
not.

I had to ask my dad to click on the update button for me then I was able to
then in put the registration details. until then, no I couldn't register
pro.

even now I'm not seeing any check boxes.

when I bring up the window all I see is, scan, repair, close and if I read
it with the jaws cursor it reads my desktop items. I cant find this darned
window.

I'm able to tab to those buttons.

if I do locate the list box, jaws says blank.

while looking through the options it looks like the program will
automatically do things, it's just I like to know what it's doing.

I'd go so far as to say this program is not jaws friendly. I personally
wouldn't recommend it.

Just as well it was on offer *smiles*. in total it cost me £13 but in my
opinions so far that is £13 too much.

if you've not purchased it, I'd not bother but that is up to you.

hope this helps

Elaine,

Are you saying that the free version of Advanced SystemCare is worthless? I
understand it when you say that you need sighted assistance to register the
pro version.

My question is this. I have the free version on my PC and when I do a scan,
it gives me a list of items to be repaired. However, it seems that we cannot
do a repair unless we purchase the pro version. Is this correct? Am I
missing something?

Thanks for any advice.

yep, when I completed a scan with the free version, I read with the jaws
cursor on screen that the program will not remove or optimise anything until
you upgrade to pro. so, in short, you have to buy pro.

Just as well it was on offer *smiles*. in total it cost me £13 but in my
opinions so far that is £13 too much.

if you've not purchased it, I'd not bother but that is up to you.

hope this helps

hiya Chris

I would second that, I've used C cleaner with jaws and it worked well.

only thing I would say though, after I'd done the clean up with C cleaner it
asked for a reboot, for some reasons when I rebooted I lost speech and also
had to re authorise jaws.

oh, when I said lost speech? I meant jaws didn't reboot with speech I had to
start jaws manually.

I think I must have to alter something within c cleaner so it wont mess up
jaws but I didn't. bit worried about doing another sweep in case It does
the same tricks.

hiya

yep, when I completed a scan with the free version, I read with the jaws
cursor on screen that the program will not remove or optimise anything until
you upgrade to pro. so, in short, you have to buy pro.

I understand it when you say that you need sighted assistance to register

My question is this. I have the free version on my PC and when I do a

we cannot do a repair unless we purchase the pro version. Is this correct?
Am I missing something?

If you are using the free version of Advanced System Care, there is no

I think I must have to alter something within c cleaner so it wont mess up
jaws but I didn't. bit worried about doing another sweep in case It does
the same tricks.

thanks

yup, afraid you'll deffinatly need a pair of eyes. I had sighted assistance
to click the button, once that was done it was easy to put the details in.
but to locate the correct button without help? forget it.

ah well done it now lets see how the program works.

actually looking at it now, I'm non the wiser how it works.

I see the buttons, stop, scan, repair etc but jaws doesn't read anything
else. for example, I'm supposed to get a list of items that need check
marks but I haven't as yet found that list. occasionally I locate a tab,
but cant do nothing with it.

I have clicked the scan button but the pc doesn't appear to do anything,
same with the repair.

anyone got a clue as to why this program is so unfriendly?

thanks for your help.

Re: [JAWS-Users] registering Advanced System Care help

2008-12-12 Thread Patricia Dunbar
I had a bit of trouble last night working on Allen's computer trying to
register his windows. I tried the jaws cursor many times, but what worked
the best was vertulizing the window, have you tried that?
Also even if you see or hear a next button or to that affect and pressing
alt n doesn't always work, make sure your cursor is in fact on the next
button or whatever it is that you need to do and then press either the left
or right mouse clicks to activate whatever it is you need to do..
I had to do that several times as well. When we did finally hear his windows
key number, I was in the process of doing this all online but then they were
doing security updates and calling them we had to wait 15 minutes and try
again. I had to enter a new key number and jaws didn't talk for all of that
part and I'm amazed I didn't mess up hitting a wrong digit in the process
especially when you can't hear what your typing..
Another thing when you say all you get is desktop, that happened to me too,
but when I alt-tab I found text so maybe you should try that as well..

Re: [JAWS-Users] registering Advanced System Care help

2008-12-13 Thread Hugh Megarry
I would normally do the same but I am going to see if I can do something
about this one the programme is good as far as what its doing so if it was
more usable with screen readers then it could be of benafite to lots of
screen reader users who are not comfortable with going into stuff in the o
s and trying to fix them it has sorted out a few things on this computer
seems to be running slightly better since I ran it twice its cut around nine
seconds of the boot up time and later on today when I get it up to the pro
one then I will do a few tests to see if its improved things on this
computer again
so far have only run the free one on this one and the other computer here
was running badly and now its going like a dream so will let you all know
how it works out

Re: [JAWS-Users] registering Advanced System Care help

2008-12-13 Thread Elaine

hiya Hugh

if you want to use pro you have to register, it is the same program though.
that is why I asked if anyone new how to get round this problem both Hugh
and I appear to have.

I looked round the options and it would appear that is where we can change
what the program scans, when etc.

it is a bit tricky as I found I had to use the jaws cursor to click the tab
I wanted to change. I'm not sure how to explain that, but if you tab to
what you wish to look at, then while on that item or tab rather, go to your
jaws cursor, click it then you can tab over and locate further options.

I hope this is of use to you Hugh, and also hope vie explained it clearly.

I also noted there was a user section and you could change the skin either
black or white. this doesn't appear to make any difference to the program
though. Was hoping it was like with Avast where a skin change is all that's
needed.

in there was two lots of boxes which had percentages in them, but I
couldn't tell what it was for. both of them where set to 0. I've no ideas
what happens if you change them though. might do that see if it makes any
difference.

any way, over night it would appear advanced system care did something as I
had a message on my window to say it had fixed things. so least I now know
it is doing something.

so I'd suggest just leaving it alone.

I still cant figure out why jaws cant see the correct button for registering
the program, I even tried changing the graphics mode to all but I still
couldn't click it.

any way, done now and happier it's doing something.

thanks

Elaine

If you are using the free version of Advanced System Care, there is no
registration procedure. The user interface contains just the four buttons
you encountered: scan, repair, stop and close. That's it. You're not
missing anything.

Elaine, I fiddled with the free edition by going to the system tray, finding
it there and clicking on the right mouse button on the keypad. That opens
the context menu in which you can go through menus and do what you wish. I
don't know what else the pro editioin might do but I know the program is
running. The entry in the system tray tells me that it has scanned on the
date. marilyn

hiya Hugh

if you want to use pro you have to register, it is the same program though.
that is why I asked if anyone new how to get round this problem both Hugh
and I appear to have.

I still cant figure out why jaws cant see the correct button for registering
the program, I even tried changing the graphics mode to all but I still
couldn't click it.

any way, done now and happier it's doing something.

thanks

Elaine

hiya

no, I cant even see this window with the jaws cursor, using the jaws cursor,
reads the background window which in most cases is my desktop.

with the pc cursor, less than that to be honest. I've tried changing all
sorts of things but nothing appear to effect this program.

I've still not figured out how to see those check boxes but happier to just
leave the program to do it's thing.

I have found I can read the options which kind of tell me what it is
scanning, even that is difficult to read properly with jaws.

could do with a jaws tec who has sight to tell us maybe why jaws isn't
working very well with this program.

never mind...

I had a bit of trouble last night working on Allen's computer trying to
register his windows. I tried the jaws cursor many times, but what worked
the best was vertulizing the window, have you tried that?
Also even if you see or hear a next button or to that affect and pressing
alt n doesn't always work, make sure your cursor is in fact on the next
button or whatever it is that you need to do and then press either the
left or right mouse clicks to activate whatever it is you need to do..
I had to do that several times as well. When we did finally hear his
windows key number, I was in the process of doing this all online but then
they were doing security updates and calling them we had to wait 15
minutes and try again. I had to enter a new key number and jaws didn't
talk for all of that part and I'm amazed I didn't mess up hitting a wrong
digit in the process especially when you can't hear what your typing..
Another thing when you say all you get is desktop, that happened to me
too, but when I alt-tab I found text so maybe you should try that as
well..

Now I have the pro one running I just hit jaws key and F 11 and go down to
it in the list hit enter on it that opens up a list of things within the
list is a few sub lists just arrow right and they open up go to the one you
want and hit enter on it with the scan I just heard jaws saying the
percentage of the scans I think there are four in all after jaws shuts up
Hold on for a min and then hit the repair button again I heard jaws saying
a percentage again hold on for a min after jaws shuts up lol and that is it
done now there was no way for me to tell how much there was to repair or if
anything needed checked so am going to run different scans with a sighty
here with me just to see if there is anything needed to be checked each time
hopefully not but it is a pity its not fully useable with a screen reader
only time will tell if they are willing to make changes to it

Hugh,

When I find programs and/or company's that are this JAWS unfriendly I find
something else to use if at all possible.

You can't even read them with the JAWS cursor?

All I can say is hit the scan button leave it for around three mins then hit
the repair button most things are checked but if you have a sighty about get
them to check the check marks to make sure there checked and if possible let
them have a look again the next time you run it just to see if all the check
marks are still checked that is what I am going to do after I send of a
rather nasty email to them well not nasty but strongly worded one

hiya Hugh

yup, afraid you'll deffinatly need a pair of eyes.

Elaine
