Re: [JAWS-Users] win 7 to xp

2014-02-27 Thread Gerald Levy

My sentiments exactly. That's why I'm hanging onto my XP system beyond the
April 8 cutoff for XP support, despite the dire predictions of doom for us
inveterate XP loyalists.

Just my opinion, but I've never cared for Windows 7. Nowhere near as
speech friendly as XP. If it wasn't broke, and it wasn't, Microsoft
shouldn't have fixed it with Vista, Windows 7, or 8.

People: as soon as you stop laughing at me, please give this question a
listen. Is it possible to convert one's win 7 os to the ash heap and
install a new copy of windows xp on the new computer? I have suffered
enough with the problems I have mentioned to you in the past three
months.

I am going to call the microsoft accessibility number but want your
expertise first. Thanks. Marilyn

Thanks, Gerald and Charles. I wonder whether some of the windows 7
apologists are just saying it is ok so as not to ruffle any feathers. I'll
keep my old computer with xp and muddle along with win 7, too. Marilyn

Hello Marilyn,
Sorry to hear about your PC problems, but IMO going back to XP is not a
good move.
While XP is a great operating system, still holding just under 30% of
the market according to NetMarket Share, getting software drivers is
becoming a real task.
If you think you're having problems with Win 7 - which to me is unusual
- turning back to Win XP will only increase your computer anxiety.
