[JBoss-dev] [TODO -- DEVELOPMENT] - Re: JRMPInvoker need to implement NotificationBroadcaster

2004-07-06 Thread lretief
Ah... I thought something like this was probably going on behind the scenes. Is
someone working on org.jboss.management.j2ee.MBean or can I have a bash at that?

While I can run the examples that come with the stand-alone JBossAOP 1.0Beta2, I don't
know how to run those examples using the JBoss 4.0DR3. Can anyone provide me with some
hints how to do it? Thanks.

Yes, see if you can track whether the associated jbossServiceName did support
NotificationBroadcaster and only remove the listener if it was added.

Summary: Using com.sun.* classes

Initial Comment:
When I tried to run JBoss 4 with IBM's Java 1.4.2, I
get the following exception:

===>NoClassDefFoundError : com.sun.net.ssl.HostnameVerifier

This class in not in the Java api class (it's an
internal implementation class) and it is not
guaranteed to be present on all valid JDK
implementations. This class is not in IBM's Java SDK. I
 think you should be using
javax.net.ssl.HostnameVerifier. Sun also recommends
that developers NOT use the com.sun.* packages (see
http://java.sun.com/products/jdk/faq/faq-sun-packages.html).

Here's what I did:

1). Downloaded JBoss4 from http://www.jboss.org 2).
Unziped
 JBoss and started the server with IBM's JVM.
 # set JAVA_HOME=C:/ibmsdk142
 # cd JBoss4/bin
 # run

References to com.sun.* are below:

 org.jboss.mq.il.http.AnyhostVerifier -
 com.sun.net.ssl.HostnameVerifier

I downloaded jboss-4.0.0DR4 to my Cygwin 1.5.9 (running

starts fine but when I access the jmx console with

Log shows same error.

The error is saying to copy the tools.jar into
common/lib directory. I didn't find a common/lib so I
tried copying tools.jar to server/default/lib and then
server/all/lib. Next tried moving tools.jar to
server/default/deploy/jbossweb-tomcat50.sar and
restarting. None of these worked. Still getting same error.

Here are the startup values:

[JBoss-dev] [Build System] - Is JBoss subject to CVS? How do I update it?

2004-07-06 Thread Nekot
I am new to the CVS world, so not really clear on how CVS works. Just wondering is
JBoss subject to CVS? How do I update it if yes?

I have downloaded TortoiseCVS 1.6.14, so I just need to select the JBoss
folder(jboss-3.2.5) and select/click CVS Update when there is a new version?

Any help would be grateful! Thank you guys!

[JBoss-dev] [Caches on JBoss (Caches/JBoss)] - Re: TreeCache deadlock

2004-07-06 Thread rchristy
Ben,

Here is the code segment I was using to get the exception
using the Hibernate API. The scenario is to create a new
object using this code and than update that object again using
the same code segment within a JBoss CMT. The exception
will happen on the session.flush() of the update. Is this enough
of a code segment for you?

Thanks,

Rich

Session session = null;
try {
   Context context = new InitialContext();
  SessionFactory sessionFactory =
(SessionFactory)context.lookup("java:/hibernate/HibernateFactory");
   session = sessionFactory.openSession();

Object object = session.saveOrUpdateCopy(mappedObj);

session.flush();

} catch (Exception e) {
e.printStackTrace();
} finally {
session.close(session);
}

[JBoss-dev] [AOP on JBoss (Aspects/JBoss)] - Another issue...

2004-07-06 Thread eyp
Hi again,

Although I have other issues with jboss-aop, I'm trying to achieve other tests.
I've precompiled some classes and all is right, but when I execute them there is
no effect with my interceptions. I got not result.

This is my test:

jboss-aop.xml:

Interceptor implementation:

public class MethodAuthorizationInterceptor implements Interceptor {
private static final Logger LOG = Logger.getLogger("es.test.aop");

public String getName() {
return getClass().getName();
}

public Object invoke(Invocation invocation) throws Throwable {
MethodInvocation mInvocation = (MethodInvocation) invocation;
String method = mInvocation.getMethod().getName();
LOG.info("Interceptado el metodo - " + method);
return invocation.invokeNext();
}
}

When a class of es.test.support.commands is executed, I've nothing at log.
There's no error when I run aopc. Have I missed some system property?

My environment is:

Tomcat 5.0.24, J2SDK 1.4.2_04, JBossAOP-1.0beta3

Summary: DeploymentException and invalid EJB-QL statements

Initial Comment:
It seems JBoss gets mixed up when deploying an entity
bean with an invalid EJB-QL statement. The
DeploymentException is always reported for the last
entity bean declared in the ejb-jar.xml .

Please have a look at the attached testcase. Although
the invalid query belongs to the 'Test1' bean, JBoss
shows another bean in the list of incomplete
deployments:

Right. That's because CMP engine is started after all the
EntityPersistenceManager's are created. Then it compiles
queries, resolves relationships, etc. If something goes
wrong the last started EJB container which provoked the
start of CMP engine will be reported as guilty. The message
reports what query is wrong and why though. So, I don't
consider it as a critical bug.

Summary: Serious connection leak in connection pool

Initial Comment:
org.jboss.resource.connectionmanager.InternalManagedC
onnectionPool contains a serious synchronization bug in
method returnConnection().

The code

if (cl.hasPermit())
{
   cl.grantPermit(false);
   permits.release();
}

has to be included into the synchronized code section
after cls.add(cl). Otherwise it is possible that the
returned connection will be handed out to another
thread in getConnection() before reaching the finally
block in returnConnection(). In this situation the
releasing thread will call cl.grantPermit(false) on a
connection that is already in use by another thread (
overwriting its cl.grantPermit(true) on that connection).
This will cause a non-execution of the semaphore
release on next return of that connection which leads to
a final internal semaphore permit count of 1 (no
connection pooling at all...)

I will fix this in Brach_3_2 and HEAD

I made some fixes to the build. Its still not perfect. Really I just want to
simplify the hell out of it. The only real downer is the topic/queue deployment is
kinda f**ked sometimes... Looks like more of a JBossMQ thing. Test it out and tell
me what you think.

[JBoss-dev] Cannot build 3.2 from cvs

2004-07-06 Thread Daniel Maher

Hello list members,

I expect some flames for this, but my search for a solution has led me here.

I used to (say 2 weeks ago) regularly build the 3.2 branch but now cannot. In that timespan I have not changed anything important regarding my Java environment.

According to the jboss site, I should be able to check out jboss 3.2, cd to build, and build.bat.

The first error I get is that JMXDocletTask is missing. Incidentally this is the first error I got months ago when I tried to build from the HEAD of 4.0.

So I put the jmxdoclet jar from xdoclet1.2.1/lib in jboss3.2/tools/lib and rerun. Then I get 'missing DocletTask'. So I put all of the jars from xdoclet1.2.1 into tools/lib. This seems to get past those errors, but the next one I get is a NoClassDefFound error on the log4j imports.

Can anyone offer a word of advice? Are you guys doing something different in your environments?

thanks in advance,
toastchee

Log shows same error.

The error is saying to copy the tools.jar into
common/lib directory. I didn't find a common/lib so I
tried copying tools.jar to server/default/lib and then
server/all/lib. Next tried moving tools.jar to
server/default/deploy/jbossweb-tomcat50.sar and
restarting. None of these worked. Still getting same error.

Here are the startup values:

Reinstalled J2SE to a path without spaces (just to be safe)
and no improvement. Same error occurs.

[JBoss-dev] [ jboss-Bugs-985616 ] Persistent messages not rolled back when queue stopped/full

Summary: Persistent messages not rolled back when queue stopped/full

Initial Comment:
The PersistentQueue.addMessage() method writes messages
to the store before delegating to BasicQueue to add the
message to the cache and create the commit/rollback tasks.

If the queue is stopped or full BasicQueue.addMessage()
will throw an exception before it has created the
rollback task.

Because the rollback task is not created the message is
never removed from the store, so when the server is
restarted the message is recovered and sent.

The attached diff patches PersistentQueue.java to store
the message after the rollback task is created.

[JBoss-dev] [Javassist development Forum] - Extending Reflection to intercept Constructors

2004-07-06 Thread brett_s_r
I am using the Javassist Loader and Reflection classes from javassist.reflect, to
stub-out and mock classes transparently, especially when performing unit tests.

I have found that when used with the reflective Loader, Reflection can stub-out and
intercept everything (i.e. methods, fields, statics) with the exception of
Constructors. In order to be able to transparently mock certain classes, I need to be
able to intercept their constructors, as these may throw Exceptions, e.g. due to
resource dependencies that we are trying to mock-out, such as database connections etc.

I have started adding constructor interception as an optional feature of
javassist.reflect.Reflection, and the purpose of this posting is to seek community
feedback on whether others might find this sensible/useful. Depending on what is
possible through the rest of the API, particularly CtNewConstructor, I am thinking
that the best design approach might be to copy the way Method interception works, by
"moving" the real Methods and introducing a delegating stub Constructor. I'm guess
that this will delegate to a Method in a subclass of Metaobject. As the real classes'
Constructor has been intercepted, it would then be up to the Metaobject to instantiate
a suitable replacement underlying object to delegate to.

Any other approaches?

Any thoughts/comments, however brief, most welcome ... I need to code this now ... may
need some help from interested parties ...

Brett Randall
