[jboss-user] [Remoting] - Re: NoSuchObjectException on Server Restart
Hi John, You're right that RMIClientInvoker doesn't try to reload the server stub in the event of an invocation error. More generally, Remoting clients don't promise to seek out a new server if an old one dies, although the socket transport is more likely to find a new server since it will attempt to create new connections when old ones become unusable. So, one strategy would be to try the socket transport, which is the usual choice anyway. Otherwise, a higher layer would need to recreate the Remoting client. Whether that's possible depends, of course, on what is running on top of Remoting and what kind of access you have. The usual structure in JBoss software, e.g., JBossMessaging and EJB3 clients, is to create a stack of interceptors, to which you can add your own. See, for example, org.jboss.aspects.remoting.InvokeRemoteInterceptor. [jboss-user] [Remoting] - Re: Socket keep alive with client EJB
Which version of the Application Server are you using? Version 2.4.0 of Remoting has a solution to your problem based on JIRA issue JBREM-877 "New Socket Connection is being Created for Every Client Request to the Server". Remoting 2.4.0.CR1 (the latest 2.4.0 release) should be compatible with JBoss AS 5.0.0.Beta4. This feature does not exist in version 2.2.x, which ships with the 4.2 versions of the Application Server. One fact to note is that multiple copies of org.jboss.remoting.Client (which is used by EJB3 clients) connected to the same server share the same underlying invoker and connection pool. If you keep one EJB3 alive, that should be enough to keep a shared connection pool in existence. You're on the right track. A Connector is an MBean, and once you get a reference to it, you can invoke its methods. You don't need to use the RMIAdaptor, however, since your service is running in the same JVM as the connector. You can talk directly to the MBeanServer. I believe that the JBoss JNDI implementation does not currently use Remoting by default. However, see the wiki page JNDIOverHTTPWithUnifiedInvoker (http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/JNDIOverHTTPWithUnifiedInvoker about using the UnifiedInvoker (which does use Remoting) to do JNDI lookups. [jboss-user] [Remoting] - Re: Streaming video
Hi James, I think that Remoting, in its current form, might be too low level for you. There is a failover facility in the Transporter code (org.jboss.remoting.transporter.*), but it's more of a demonstration than a fully developed feature. There isn't any loadbalancing feature. For a brief discussion of streaming from server to client, you could take a look at the thread "P2P Client Callback with streaming" (http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&t=130918). I am not too sure if the pull / push callbacks are the right way to go forward. The "Mina" framework offers this feature, if I can remember right. | Yes. Each client could call org.jboss.remoting.Client.addListener() which, depending on the details of the call, will register an implementation of org.jboss.remoting.callback.InvokerCallbackHandler to receive push (or polled) callbacks. On the server side, your implementation of org.jboss.remoting.ServerInvocationHandler will be informed of the existence of the newly registered InvokerCallbackHandler through a call to ServerInvocationHandler.addListener(). Your ServerInvocationHandler can add the InvokerCallbackHandler to a list of InvokerCallbackHandlers waiting for callbacks. anonymous wrote : | Question 2: | Will the client push from the server work for clients behind NAT firewall. | Yes. Push callbacks are processed by a client-side callback Connector. You can create the callback Connector with "clientConnectAddress" and "clientConnectPort" parameters which will tell the server how to connect to the callback Connector. anonymous wrote : | Question 3: | Secondly, we would also like to utilize the streaming feature to distribute documents among peers. Can the similar solution be used for streaming documents among group | This one's a little tricky. Streaming is not a fully developed feature in the current version of Remoting. It is possible to send streams from the client to the server. There is not currently an explicit mechanism for sending streams from the server to the client. However, push callbacks are handled by creating an org.jboss.remoting.Client on the server side and then calling Client.invoke(). Your implementation of ServerInvocationHandler.addListener() could cast the incoming InvokerCallbackHandler to org.jboss.remoting.callback.ServerInvokerCallbackHandler and call ServerInvokerCallbackHandler.getCallbackClient() to get the Client used to send push callbacks. I guess you could then use that callback Client to send streams to the client-side callback Connector. I've never tried it, but it sounds plausible. By the way, there's a sample chat room application in org.jboss.remoting.samples.chat.*. I wrote it a long time ago and don't remember much about it, but it does use callbacks. I'm sorry if my answer was too late to be of any use. [jboss-user] [JBoss Portal] - Implementing portlet-specific help
I'm running JBoss Portal 2.6.4 on Windows XP. The current model for supplying portlet-specific help is essentially to enable the portlet for HELP mode and write a help JSP to render help information in the portlet window itself. That is, with HELP mode enabled, the help ('?') icon appears as a new decoration in the portlet title bar and, when it's clicked, the portlet is put into HELP mode and its doHelp() method is executed. doHelp() dispatches the help JSP which renders the help content. The problem with this is that the help information covers up what it's explaining. The other thing that happens is that the help icon is replaced by a "cancel" icon, which, when clicked, returns the portlet to VIEW mode. Now we see what was being explained, but the explanation is gone. I would like to bypass the rendering of the help in the portlet window and open another window containing the help information. I can get the help JSP to open a separate window with help text, but I can't seem to defeat the portlet's HELP mode, which, if nothing is rendered in its window as help text, just shows a truncated window with nothing in it. Clicking "cancel" restores the portlet window to its pre-help state and doesn't make the open help window disappear, but it seems a round-about way to see the portlet and its associated help information at the same time. Kind of a bad usability model, really. Is there a way to prevent HELP mode from rendering the portlet window content? I've tried over-riding doDispatch() and intercepting HELP mode, but by then it's too late. Failing any way to get the portlet back to VIEW mode from doHelp or doDispatch, is there a way to put my own icon on the portlet title bar and create a custom mode that enables me to pop a help window without disturbing the Portlet window content? The objective is to see the help information and what it's explaining at the same time. Thanks for any suggestions. [jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - NullPointerException on rollback
Hi, I have a question about jBPM behavior with external Connection. Configuration is as follows. * Set isTransactionEnabled = false to DbPersistenceServiceFactory in jbpm.cfg.xml * Database transaction is managed by third party framework which is not JTA, which is simple connection based local transaction with template method pattern. * Provided the external Connection via JbpmContext.setConnection method * Commented out all JDBC connection properties in hinernate.cfg.xml * Create our own ConnectionProvider to provide the external Connection, and set it to "hibernate.connection.provider_class" in hinernate.cfg.xml With this environment, when hibernate throws Exception, DbPersistenceService thorws NullPointerException, and here is the stack trace. java.lang.NullPinterException at org.jbpm.persistence.db.DbPersistenceService.rollbak(DbPersistenceService.java:304) at org.jbpm.persistence.db.DbPersistenceService.close(DbPersistenceService.java:234) at org.jbpm.svc.service.close(service.java:225) at org.jbpm.JbpmContext.close(JbpmContext.java:139) It is happening because "transaction" field is NULL, because it's set when isTransactionEnable = true in beginTransaciton method when getSessiojn method is called. I don't know very much about DbPersistenceService, but the code of close method doesn't add up. First block of code is wrapped by if stement with (isTransactionEnabled && (transaction != null)), which is good, but rest of the section three is no check against this condition and rollback method is called, and of course transaction field is NULL. I'm not sure this check must be in close method or in rollback method, but this check should be in place somewhere to be consistent for isTransactionEnable. Is my grasp right? and is three anybody who has already solved this issue? thanks, View the original post : http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=4146944#4146944 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=4146944 ___ jboss-user mailing list jboss-user@lists.jboss.org https://lists.jboss.org/mailman/listinfo/jboss-user
[jboss-user] [Messaging, JMS & JBossMQ] - Simple Queue into a Clustered enviroment
Hi all, I have a little problem doing a simple destination deployment into my jboss cluster (2 nodes), i need a way to create and erase queues from the cluster (i know about the master node and the queues), i want to create a simple xml file to manage (trought copy and delete) the queues availables in X moment in the farm directory of my cluster. Ok, think i can tell what the problem is now. In the wsdl, the schema is importet. | | − | http://www.alfresco.org/ws/service/repository/1.0";> | http://www.alfresco.org/ws/headers/1.0"; schemaLocation="../wsdl/headers.xsd"/> | http://www.alfresco.org/ws/cml/1.0"; schemaLocation="../wsdl/cml.xsd"/> | − | | Remember, the elements of namespace cms are missing. But inside one importet schema, there is another import: | http://www.alfresco.org/ws/cml/1.0"; elementFormDefault="qualified" version="0.1"> | − | | − | | | Alfresco Web Services for Content Management. CML - Content Manipulation Language - Draft. | | | | http://www.alfresco.org/ws/model/content/1.0"; schemaLocation="types.xsd"/> | The last schema contains the cms:Store element, which cannot be resolved by wsimport/wsconsume. So is it right that you cannot refer to a schema embedded into another schema? What can i do here, preferable without changing the schema? Maybe this piece of information helps: I tried wsconsume and wsimport to generate the client artifacts, and both console outputs say: | [wsimport] [WARNING] src-resolve.4.2: Error resolving component 'cms:Store'. If this is the incorrect namespace, perhaps the prefix of 'cms:Store' needs to be changed. I'm not personally familiar with the details of this aspect of JBossMQ, but your analysis sounds correct. Graben: YOu're right about the native not being added. However, endorsed-libs *are* definitely added. You can double-check this by double-clicking the server, and in the server editor clicking "Open Launch Configuration". There you'll see the program arguments and java arguments being passed... and endoresed *is* there. [jboss-user] [Clustering/JBoss] - Re: login/client id that is already connected/cluster config
I have more information from my tests. If I shutdown the first server, the error stops happening on the second one. The conclusion I can get is that the MDBs from both servers are acessing the queue on the first loaded node - what is correct. As the JMS service is HA singleton. With this info, the error could be fixed by changing the and/or from the MDBs on the xmls of the second server. But - it does not sound nice to have to generate different jars/ears for each node of the cluster. The farm service for example would not be usable. Any ideias/comments? Thanks. [jboss-user] [Clustering/JBoss] - Re: Unable to run multiple cluster nodes.
/casper-2.1**/*=loadbalancer should be /casper-2.1/*=loadbalancer No ** To get rid of the startup failures you posted, don't change the partition name in cluster-service.xml. Restore it to the original value of ${jboss.partition.name:DefaultPartition}. You can then start JBoss like this to have your partition named 'casper' ./run.sh -Djboss.partition.name=casper -c myConfig As a convenience there is a switch that does that exact same thing: ./run.sh -g casper -c myConfig As to why browsing to http://10.20.220.15:/casper-2.1/app no longer works, I can't say for certain based on what you've posted. I assume is the port the Tomcat HttpConnector is listening on; i.e. you've changed it from 8080. Only thing I see is that your posted "replication-trigger" element is missing the closing tag. Thanx for the prompt reply. We had thought about forking the process out, but we'd rather see the Scheduler work "correctly." [jboss-user] [Installation, Configuration & DEPLOYMENT] - Deploy ZIP vs. EAR
Hey, is there anything to think about when I deploy a ZIP file instead of an EAR file ? I currently build a rich client application, which will use JBoss Remoting for communication with the AppServer over HTTPS. Therefore I created a SAR for the transport connector MBean, a WAR for the servlets and a JAR for the session beans. If I deploy those as EAR with an application.xml there seems to be a problem with the classloading - the servlet cannot find the session beans. Deploying the components one by one works, so I pack them all in a ZIP file which will be deployed. So, is there any problem / risk doing this ? Should be like what? You didn't use the code brackets. (By the way, the solution you specified is not the only one. I actually had something else in mind and it involved changing the line I pointed out - you changed a completely different line) If you are using someone else's code, you can do one of the following: 1) Tell the originators of the code that their code is unacceptable and they have to fix it. (This of course does not work very well if you are not paying for the code, or if the code is old code and the original developers are not available.) 2) Fix the code yourself. Or hire someone to fix it. Face it, the code will not work with anything other than IE the way it is written. 3) Decree that all of your users must use IE. Hey, its been done before. I can point you to dozens of high-profile web sites that don't work with Firefox. I know because I run into then all the time. [jboss-user] [Installation, Configuration & DEPLOYMENT] - Re: schedulable job blocks other schedulable jobs
Hi, in the meantime I have created my own solution to the problem. Both schedulable classes now call the stateless session beans in separate threads. The actual work is done in the new threads. The scheduler thread terminates without waiting for the working threads. It works, the scheduler now is no longer blocked by long running jobs. Here's the sample code: | public class ImportNavDataProxy implements Schedulable { | | private String _pathNavData; | private String _pathNavDataTmp; | private String _logDataPath; | private String _jndiNameImportNavDataAgent; | private static final Logger _logger = Logger.getLogger(ImportNavDataProxy.class.getName()); | | public ImportNavDataProxy(String pathNavData, String pathNavDataTmp, String logDataPath, String jndiNameImportNavDataAgent) { | _pathNavData = pathNavData; | _pathNavDataTmp = pathNavDataTmp; | _logDataPath = logDataPath; | _jndiNameImportNavDataAgent = jndiNameImportNavDataAgent; | } | | /** | * Method called by the Scheduler | * | * @param date Date of the notification call | * @param remainingRepetitions Number of remaining repetitions | */ | public void perform(Date date, long remainingRepetitions) { | | // start ImportNavDataAgent in separate thread and terminate this thread immediately. | // Do not wait for termination of thread. | ImportNavDataRunner importNavDataRunner = new ImportNavDataRunner(); | Thread t = new Thread(importNavDataRunner); | t.start(); | | } | | | public class ImportNavDataRunner implements Runnable{ | | public void run(){ | try { | | //replace "localhost" with "serverName" | InetAddress localMachine = InetAddress.getLocalHost(); | String serverName = localMachine.getHostName(); | | String urlString = _jndiNameImportNavDataAgent.replaceAll("localhost", serverName); | | InitialContext ic = new InitialContext(); | ImportNavDataAgent importNavDataAgent = | (ImportNavDataAgent) ic.lookup(urlString); | //(ImportNavDataAgent) ic.lookup("jnp://"+localHostName+":1099/SDOCIImportApp/ImportNavDataAgentImpl/local"); | _logger.info("EJB ImportNavDataAgent found."); | | importNavDataAgent.importNavData(_pathNavData,_pathNavDataTmp,_logDataPath); | | } catch (Exception e) { | _logger.info("EJB ImportNavDataImpl cannot be found. Does anyone have any experience of using EJB Timers over the job scheduler approach? I am wondering if it's going to make a big difference. We are wondering if it's feasible for us to go from a EJB container to tomcat. We are definitely using timers within the workflow hence the question. Any thoughts? Hello. Sorry for delay. I've found the reason: problem with classloader was in javax.wsdl.factory.WSDLFactory. WSDLFactory located in wsdl4j.jar, but this jar located not only in deploy\jbossws.sar but in some other places and WSDLFactory classloader was not the same as for WSDLDefinitionsFactory. Problem solved by removing duplicated wsdl4j.jar. Tahnks for attention, Grigory. Hi, I downloaded jboss-4.2.1.GA.zip as my JBoss AS, but it seems it doesn't have JMS provider, because when I tried to deploy my JBossESB to it, it complains "can't determine JMS provider". Hi, Could not solve the issue. Please find some time to make out this issue. [jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Re: Pass the executionContext from main process to sub-proce
Once again.. why are you trying to pass the executionContext to the subprocess?? Read about the policies about copying process variables thru them... You also can look in documentation for process/sub process interaction... In this type of cases you sure resolve the problem copying only the variables.. for interaction! Okay, I have traced this down and it has nothing to do with JBCACHE-1320. It has been fixed in trunk as a matter of course in refactoring some classes. Hi, I found the issue. If you do an ldd of libawt.so you see: anonymous wrote : ldd /home/hermida/java/jdk1.5.0_15/jre/lib/i386/libawt.so | linux-gate.so.1 => (0x0011) | libmlib_image.so => not found | libjvm.so => not found | libm.so.6 => /lib/libm.so.6 (0x0019b000) | libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x001c4000) | libjava.so => not found | libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x001c9000) | /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x00478000) So one needs to create an LD_LIBRARY_PATH env var if you don't already have one which points to all the right libraries (shown for Bash): LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/lib:/usr/lib:/usr/local/lib:$JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/i386:$JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/i386/client:$JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/i386/server | export LD_LIBRARY_PATH Then upon resourcing your .bash_profile and doing another ldd: anonymous wrote : ldd /home/hermida/java/jdk1.5.0_15/jre/lib/i386/libawt.so | linux-gate.so.1 => (0x0011) | libmlib_image.so => /home/hermida/java/current/jre/lib/i386/libmlib_image.so (0x0019b000) | libjvm.so => /home/hermida/java/current/jre/lib/i386/client/libjvm.so (0x00495000) | libm.so.6 => /lib/libm.so.6 (0x00262000) | libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x0028b000) | libjava.so => /home/hermida/java/current/jre/lib/i386/libjava.so (0x0029) | libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0x002b3000) | libpthread.so.0 => /lib/libpthread.so.0 (0x00407000) | /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x00478000) | libverify.so => /home/hermida/java/current/jre/lib/i386/libverify.so (0x0041f000) | libnsl.so.1 => /lib/libnsl.so.1 (0x0042b000) Then everything works! [jboss-user] [Remoting] - Re: Received version 254
Ron, The only area I was needed to work on remoting improvement is NetworkRegistry. Our system is distributed among several DCs and we are unable to use multicast. Moreover, due specifics of our system, channels between DC are quite unreliable. So we tried to use JndiDetector. However, the JndiDetector registered to many false server failure detections. The problem is described in detail here: http://aharlamov.blogspot.com/2007/09/things-you-would-like-to-avoid-during.html Also, it is hard to say when NetworkRegistry is coherent with overall system state. i.e. NetworkRegistry starts and shows invalid view of available system services until Detector runs for the first time. As our system structure is not very dynamic, I'd prefer to get a locator of service pointing onto non-existing server instead of "no such service" report. Hello, I have installed the compat-libstdc++-33 rpm but I still the same have the problem. I don't understand what this means in the FAQ: anonymous wrote : In case you have the library installed and you still have issue with starting the visual page editor then close all browser views/editors and leave one visual page editor open and restart eclipse. This should force a load of the right XULRunner viewer. Exactly what do I do? The sentence is very confusing. How do I leave one visual page editor open while closing all browser views/editors and restarting eclipse? "Shiveeta" wrote : the classpath i am setting in My computer-> Properties -> Environment variables. That's not going to work. You have to create a classpath element through your Ant build file and use it in the task while invokes the client. See the Ant documentation for more details about how to create and use a classpath.
