Sorry, but I can't reproduce your problem :(
I executed the following command:
$JBOSS_HOME/bin>./wsconsume.sh -k -v a.wsdl | tee test.log
and all passes without problems. Here's my test.log output:

environment so would like to know if there is a step by step tutorial with
screenshots of Eclipse for similar application for Jboss5.

Any links or pointers will be useful.

I have increased the perm size to 128m and my report generation now works (for
how long im not sure...)

I have modified the JAVA_OPTS parameter in my run.conf file to read as follows.

JAVA_OPTS="-XX:MaxPermSize=128m -Xms128m -Xmx512m
-Dsun.rmi.dgc.client.gcInterval=360 -Dsun.rmi.dgc.server.gcInterval=360"

Id still be interested to find out if Sun Java 6 is ok with this version of
JBoss

Thanks

[jboss-user] [Installation, Configuration & DEPLOYMENT] - JBoss on Ubuntu, memory problems

2009-03-24 Thread tinny4u
Hello

I have the following setup:

Ubuntu Server 8.0.4.1 vmware image with 512MB RAM
Sun Java JRE build 1.6.0_07-b06
JBoss 4.2.2.GA

Im am running one Grails web application on the server. Whenever I run the
report generation functionality of my application I get an out of memory
exception (out of perm space :-()

This application worked when running under Jetty.

Is Java 6 recommended for JBoss 4.2.2.GA??? Should I use Java 5 instead?

What do you think could be my problem?

Thank you

[jboss-user] [JBoss Cache: Core Edition] - putForExternalRead doesn't solve our problem

2009-03-24 Thread jshowalter
After porting to 3.0.0.GA and putForExternalRead, it turned out we hadn't read
the fine print, which says nothing happens if the node is already there (not
the data itself--the node containing the data--we had misread the Javadocs).

Because we have more than one piece of data stored in a node, the node is often
there even though some data is not.

So, puts of data weren't happening when we wanted them to, and the cache was
returning nulls instead of data fetched to fill the node after a cache miss.

We realize this is by design and documented as such, but the design puzzles us.
The put should succeed if the node is there but the key for the data being put
is missing, and should succeed if the node and key are there but the value in
the node for that key is null.

We are, after all, trying to do a cache fill after a cache miss. A fill that
doesn't fill isn't very useful.

Furthermore, if all of the data in a node ages out of the cache due to LRU, is
the data removed from the cache and the node left in place, or is the node also
removed? Because if the node is not removed, then PFER wouldn't work in that
case either (which makes the design even more puzzling to us).

JBoss support's suggestion was that we mimic PFER ourselves, which was what we
had originally asked for help with, but when it got to the part about
suspending transactions ourselves, that's when we said we're using JPA and the
JPA spec says we'll go to JPA jail if we try to muck with transactions at all
while being managed by the container. So that's not an option.

For now, we're hoping changing the isolation level to READ_COMMITTED from the
default helps. If not, we'll have to lengthen the timeout.

Ideally JBoss Cache would have a method with a better name than
putFastForCacheFillFromExternalReadAfterCacheMissEvenIfNodeIsPresent, but with
that semantics.

The behavior of PFFCFFERACMEINIP would be remarkably similar to the behavior of
PFER, except for modifying the first bullet in the Javadocs:

- Only goes through if the node specified does not exist, or exists but does
not have the specified key for the value being put, or exists and has the
specified key for the value being put but the value is null.

- Force asynchronous mode for replication to prevent any blocking.
invalidation does not take place.

- 0ms lock timeout to prevent any blocking here either. If the lock is not
acquired, this method is a no-op, and swallows the timeout exception.

- Ongoing transactions are suspended before this call, so failures here will
not affect any ongoing transactions.

- Errors and exceptions are 'silent' - logged at a much lower level than
normal, and this method does not throw exceptions.

However, it occurs to us that the folks at hibernate.org seem plenty satisfied
with the current behavior of PFER, and their use case is basically the same as
our use case, which gets us to wondering why they're happy and we're not.

Is our problem due to storing multiple items per node by key? If so, we could
change to storing each item in a separate node. That seemed expensive (a lot of
maps), but maybe that's how this is supposed to work?

If so, we have a followup question--currently when we invalidate data locally
(to force a cache miss and cache fill on the next access to that data), we just
clear the data in a node, but leave the node in place. Are we supposed to
invalidate by deleting the node itself? If so, how does *that* work when
multiple threads are trying to access the same node? Won't readers back up
behind a write lock, thereby re-introducing the very problem we were trying to
solve with PFER in the first place? (Puts due to cache misses on reads timing
out because of contention for write locks.)

  | (01:12:16) bradatamentra: i was saying i didnt get your response
  | (01:12:19) bradatamentra: either
  | (01:13:11) Me, Myself and I: The action in the exception-handler is the
exception. meaning that in THAT kind of exceptions you cannot put the token
anywhere. I should have mentioned that if that is what you mean
  | (01:13:55) Me, Myself and I: and yes... nested exceptions between the java
code and the engine are not possible
  | (01:14:11) bradatamentra: so the action handler in my exception-handler
  | (01:14:15) bradatamentra: why cant that move the process?
  | (01:14:21) bradatamentra: or it can?
  | (01:14:33) bradatamentra: gosh, i dont get it... i have read that section
of docs many times
  | (01:14:39) Me, Myself and I: no it can't afaik... because you are on a
different level
  | (01:14:43)] bradatamentra: just trying it for the first time this week on
client side
  | (01:15:26) Me, Myself and I: compare it to starting a program from a shell
script. If the program throws an error, you are back in your shell script and
cannot influence the program anymore since it 'crashed'
  | (01:16:23) bradatamentra: i just think the doc is a bit contradictory. it
says you cant at first, but you can i dont understand why you couldnt since
you could get the root token and move it to a given node
  | (01:17:11) bradatamentra: i figured what they were saying is in jbpm, the
exeception handling doesnt mean the actual token is moving into the global
exception handler... but just that the actions would be applied from the global
exception handler to the token at the point the exception occurred
  | (01:17:38) bradatamentra: and in that sense, the flow of control is not
working like it does in java where you can use the scope of the exception
to determine flow control
  | (01:18:18) bradatamentra: instead they are saying you could use an action
to determine flow control, but otherwise no flow control changes are made for
handled exceptions
  | (01:19:29) Me, Myself and I: Yes in that sense it sounds contradictory...
but your analysis is good

And yes, that was 1.19:29 local time... 1 hour before the chat ended and even
then it took me 20 minutes to cut/paste this response... should have started
from scratch

If it is still not clear, please comment

Ronald, maybe I am wrong, but it is talking about your Action within the
moving the exception to an arbitrary node. But before
that, it states:

anonymous wrote :
  | In the case of jBPM, control flow cannot be changed by the jBPM exception
handling mechanism.

I guess its saying that in Java, you can have nested exceptions, and the thread
execution will move to whatever point the exception is caught. In other words,
JBPM does not move its token automatically to like a global exception
handler... it just executes a script or action within a given exception
handler. It is the responsibility of the action within the exception handler
to actually move the process to another node.

I agree with Ronald. Using the explicit signal() is the better way to do it.
It allows the code to be read and understood more easily. The problem with the
default signal() is that it is completely order based.

If anything, there should be an attribute to mark it default. But there isn't,
so I suggest using the explicit signal.

No, it is clear (to me ;-))

If you handle the exception IN your actionhandler, it is normal java
exceptionhandling and you can put the token anywhere. If you do not handle it
in your actionhandler, it it 'bubbles up' to the engine and a specified error
handler can handle it or the engine handles it. In both latter cases you cannot
put the token anywhere.

2009-03-24 Thread PeterJ
Are you sure you want to log trace messages to the database? But then, I
wouldn't want to log debug messages there either.

Anyway, there are two requirements to log messages at a given level (such as
TRACE) to an appender:

1) The appender must allow log entries at that level (look at the Threshold
setting).

2) The category priority for the loggers must enable that level. In other
words, setting level to DEBUG will prevent trace messages from being logged.

[jboss-user] [JCA/JBoss] - Re: Microsoft JDBC Driver for SQL Server 2008 Failure

2009-03-24 Thread PeterJ
1. Here is what I wrote:

anonymous wrote : I just now looked at the docs/examples/jms directory in
5.1.0-beta1. The file you need is not there. Looks like you will have to
download JBoss Messaging and get the persistence config files from there.

after which I wrote:

anonymous wrote : I looked at messaging in AS 5.1.0 - it is version 1.4.3.GA.
But there is no such version on the JBoss Messaging download page, so it would
appear that version 1.4.3.GA is a AS 5.1.0 Beta-specific version only. However,
I noticed that there is no difference between the
hsqldb-persistence-service.xml file in AS 5.0.1.Beta1 and in AS 5.0.0.GA.
Therefore, you should be able to use the
docs/examples/jms/mssql-persistence-service.xml from AS 5.0.0.GA in AS
5.1.0.Beta1.

Those steps worked for me with both MySQL and PostgreSQL. They should work for
SQL Server as well (I am still debating if I really want to install SQL Server,
perhaps I'll place it in one of my Windows VMs, maybe Server 2008, but I refuse
to install it on my main machine.)

2. Of course that works fine - hsqldb is still being used for the messaging
service. (I fail to understand why this is an "issue".)

You also have to realize that you are using a beta - the missing messaging
configuration files will show up in time for GA, and hopefully in time for CR1.
For AS 5.0.0, those files didn't show up until CR1 - before them you had to get
them from the JBoss Messaging download, and you had to make sure you used the
exact same version of JBoss Messaging (ask me how many times I ran into
problems because I failed to do this). If you dislike having to do that kind of
work, you should stick to the released versions.

Hi,

We use JBPM and JBoss ESB in our application. When a process completes we see
the database still contains entries for those processes.

The following tables contain a large number of rows
JBPM_MODULE_INSTANCE
JBPM_PROCESS_INSTANCE
JBPM_TOKEN
JBPM_TOKENVARIABLEMAP
JBPM_VARIABLEINSTANCE

What is the recommended or best way to purge or cleanup these entries from the

off JBPM logging. But the other tables still contain data.

Any help appreciated.

We are using:

Not sure if it helps you but I noticed that with the example

jboss.messaging:service=JMSProviderLoader,name=DefaultJMSProvider

This is not registered, perhaps it was in the 4.2 when messaging was manually

jboss.jms:service=JMSProviderLoader,name=DefaultJMSProvider

"PeterJ" wrote : Wow, no word whatsoever as to if you followed my advice and

There were a couple of issues with that.

1. No such file in my 5.1.0.Beta1 installation.
2. Keeping DefaultDS with HSQL and adding another datasource works fine.

I did comment indirectly on tinkering with mssql-persistence.xml. Namely,
whatever needs changing (perhaps there's another layer to the onion after
mssql-persistence-service.xml) should be part of the distribution or part of
the documentation.

Of course, if you're asking me to help resolve this on my installation of SQL
Server, so the docs can be updated, I would be more than happy to. Let me know
what the deal is with the missing mssql-persistence-service.xml file and we can
go from there.

[jboss-user] Jboss class loading

2009-03-24 Thread Kashif Ali
Hi,

I have just setup a jboss 4.2.3 server and I have deployed 10 applications

all the applications are WAR files and all of them contain saxon.jar. When I
leave the value:

UseJBossWebLoader to its default to false however this causes
exceptions.

if I set this to true, everything seems happy?

reading the config

false

One would think that to have isolated you leave this value as is? However in
my experiance this is not the case. Can someone please confirm if I am wrong
or not?

If I am not the config file and the wiki documentation should be updated.

Just to note:

Jboss version 4.2.3:
file edited
/opt/jboss/server/test/deploy/jboss-web.deployer/META-INF/jboss-service.xml

I have also edited the Jboss-web.xml in the WAR web-inf folder to include:

  com.example:loader=APPbuild-Deployable-1.39-exp.war

this still does not seem to work at isolating the WARS?

The test I am running is not a test that I wrote. I am running the test
org.jboss.test.jbossmessaging.test.JBossJMSUnitTestCase that comes with the
JBoss Application Server source code.

To run the test, I run the provided ant script which automatically sets up the
classpath for the JUnit client.

I looked at the classpath being passed to JUnit and it looked correct as far as
I could tell.

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Get tasks by a user's group

2009-03-24 Thread dnowak
Hi,

I'm just getting off with jBPM, and this is my first post in this forum: Hello
everyone :)

So far, I've gotten everything to work, until now. I'd like to get a list of
all tasks assigned to groups a specific user belongs to.

Example: User frank1 is in group sales and management. A task is assigned to
management. I want to get this task by placing a query about tasks for frank1.

Basically something like "findPooledTaskInstances(actorID)", which I've found
in the guide:

"To fetch the group task list for a given user, proceed as follows: Make a
collection that includes the user's actorId and all the ids of groups that the
user belongs to. With TaskMgmtSession.findPooledTaskInstances(String actorId)
or TaskMgmtSession.findPooledTaskInstances(List actorIds) you can search for
task instances that are not in a personal task list (actorId==null) and for
which there is a match in the pooled actorIds. "

The result unfortunately is empty:( How can I accomplish this?

Thanks a lot and best regards,

Damian

PS: Is there any API about Groups? I defined some groups in the JBPM Console,
but can't find any way to access them. Help please? :/

Hello,

Context :
We are having a problem on the productive environment. We have an Enterprise

We use sqljdbc driver version 1.1. We know there has been version 1.2 and 2.0

Problem
SQLServer sometimes identifies deadlock situations. This error is returned to
Hibernate which throws a org.hibernate.exception.LockAcquisitionException.

Hello,
thx for your answer, we finally had time to try a version using XA.

We tried to share in cluster the XAConnection so that when a node fails the
transaction can continue on the other nodes using this shared connection:

Nevertheless, we got the following error when doing the

May someone help us to understand what's wrong with this method?

If we create again a new XAConnection on the same JBM cluster, we do not get
the same XARessource (i.e. our Xid is not recognized when doing the JOIN).

Is it possible to get back an XARessource that accept the Xid we declared in
the failed node?

I should point out that JBoss EAP (the for-fee version) comes with the services
already secured. So secure, in fact, that you cannot access them (there is no
valid login id defined). So customers of Red Hat that purchase support to JBoss
EAP are already covered.

the portlet tag library within your JSPs, to create the URLs for your links.

[jboss-user] [Security & JAAS/JBoss] - jboss negotiation toolkit

2009-03-24 Thread ellis2323
I try to test jboss-negotiation on Jboss 5.0.1GA and Linux 64bits.

Test 1 and Test 2 are ok. But the third (Secured) doesn't work on my system.

My keytab is well configured. But the SNPEGO Token doesn't work. I try
with others crypto without sucess (AES 256/ AES 128 / DES / ARCFOUR).

Yes, that wiki page is about the Web Services stack, and not the Web Server
(having two different components with names that are almost the same is
confusing at best). If you really want to upgrade Web Services so that WSRP
works, you should use the "native" stack.

[jboss-user] [Security & JAAS/JBoss] - Propagating custom principal

2009-03-24 Thread dizzydewil
Hi,

After upgrade JBOSS from version 4.0.5 to 4.2.3 (requirements for EJB3 and JAX
WS) I have problem with propagating custom principal.

I have web application (used as a presentation layer) and EJB component (used
as a business layer) both on the same JBOSS version (4.2.3) but different
machines.
JAAS based login mechanism (with login modules) is mixed (LDAP + database)
which provide custom principal class with additional informations like language
in UI (multilingual application). Before for propagating principal to EJB I
had to use SecurityAssociation.setPrincipal() for pass my principal class
(unless JbossGenericPrincipal was passed) in filter class (in WebApp) with
currently used lang (java.util.Locale), now (after upgrade) principal is passed
without any extra code but I can't set current lang (in passed principal).

Any idea ?

Regards Pawel

Whoops. sorry. It's version 4.01, which has root.war under
jbossweb-tomcat50.sar. I assume the jboss-web.xml solution will work with that

solution you suggest will work for 4.01. If those assumptions are incorrect,

[jboss-user] [Persistence, JBoss/CMP, Hibernate, Database] - Re: Dynamic Datasource invocation at runtime in JSF-EJB3-MyS

2009-03-24 Thread pra...@imcsystemsuk.com
I manage to solve it but need to fine-tune as per the Seam/Hibernate-JPA
standards before using it in the application.

(1) Create multiple envelopes with different JNDI names, in the
single mysql-ds.xml datasource file. e.g.

1TestDS
 ..

2TestDS
 ..

(2) Create multiple envelopes with different persistence
unit name, in a single persistence.xml file of your application e.g.

java:/1TestDS
 ...

java:/2TestDS
 ...

(3) In my case, the persistence unit name is the same as User branch office
name. So it will be available in User entity which has Seam SESSION scope after
user logged in.

(4) Here is the Stalteless bean which uses different persistence unit as follows
  @PersistenceContext
  private EntityManager em;

  @PersistenceUnit
  private EntityManagerFactory emf;

  {
// get the persistence unit name from User Entity and invoke below method
  }

  public List  findOms(String puName){
emf = Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory(puName);
em = emf.createEntityManager();
List  x = (List ) em.createQuery("select t from Om t").getResultList();
em.close();
return x;
  }

I hope this helps you. LEt me also know if you have found some better approch.

//get the context

[jboss-user] [JBoss Messaging] - Test org.jboss.test.jbossmessaging.test.JBossJMSUnitTestCase

I work for Unisys corporation. I'm attempting to certify JBoss EAP 4.3 CP04

When I run the JBoss testsuite, over 99% of the tests pass, but I have a few

In particular, the test org.jboss.test.jbossmessaging.test.JBossJMSUnitTestCase

However, that JIRA entry has no information about the problem cause or solution.

I have spent many hours over several days trying to determine how the
destination could be null in some cases (causing the failure), and OK in other
cases. So far, I have been unable to determine the cause.

Is there anyone who might be able to give me a clue?

Thanks!

[jboss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - A question on Transitions

2009-03-24 Thread Toriton
Hi all, i ahve a little question.

This is a part of my Process definition

  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |

In this case i have a stateA that have 2 transitions, one is related at normal
workflow, the transition named to stateB, and the other that is invoked only
from a timer.

And it work properly if i invoke the signal() method from a webapp that i use
to test the process workflow.

But the question is: there is any chance to configure the transition nodeMail
to be invoked only by the timer? and not from the signal() method?

Because if configured as i described before, the signal() method is perfect
anyway to call correctly the transition to stateB, but if the order of the
transitions is changed in:

  |
  |
  |

the transition named to nodeMail is the only one transition available invoking
the signal() method.

I know that i can call transition by name too, but i was looking if there was a
chance to lock some transition to be executed if who is calling is not the one
i expect.

Thank in advance for any :) reply.
T.

[jboss-user] [JBossWS] - Re: Using Threads inside Web Services

2009-03-24 Thread richard.opa...@jboss.com
Hi,

in general users shouldn't use threads in webservice endpoints. This rule
applies to both EJB and POJO based endpoints.
Regarding your question about web service initialization/destroy process,
the issue you're talking about will be fixed since next i.e. JBossWS 3.1.1.GA
release. See JBWS-2486 for more info.

Hmm, anyway, you can still find many sites with JBoss 4.2.x releases unsecured
by Google search.

I don't want to blame on JBoss team. Just to let you know about it.

Note that you should choose "FaceletsKickStartWithoutLibs" for Jboss Server

otoh, is it the ip addres of the db machine? or are the db and appserver

That's the reason why starting JBossAS-4.2.x version, various services of JBoss
by default bind to localhost. See this
http://www.jboss.org/community/docs/DOC-10179 That page also has links to other
pages which explain how to secure the JBoss instance.

I understand. Yesterday I took some time to read about.

Here they explained how to set a new value to this "maxInstances" attribute:

http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/tomcat-users/200803.mbox/%3cblu136-dav1348a08c41f3098ed92836ae...@phx.gbl%3e

Do you know if there is some monitor, tool, jboss web-console, etc... where I
can check the real time "maxInstances" value?! Otherwise how can I know that I
need to increase this "maxInstances" value?

But as you correctly said..."how did it end up creating 854 instances"...

I have no idea.

[jboss-user] [JBossWS] - Re: Using Threads inside Web Services

2009-03-24 Thread ljb26
I can't seem to find an answer to the above question in the JBossWS
documentation. Without the Servlet interface's init and destroy methods how
would we clean up threads on undeployment? I have seen references to
@PostConstruct and @PreDestroy however these seem to be called upon every
construction of the endpoint interface's implementation. This seems to be
constructed whenever a SOAP request is received, and does not seem to be linked
to the lifecycle of the underlying servlet.

Any help would be appreciated, thankyou.

[jboss-user] [Installation, Configuration & DEPLOYMENT] - Default installations are unsecured

2009-03-24 Thread xmedeko
Hi,

http://goohackle.com/jboss-security-vulnerability-jmx-management-console/

http://www.nruns.com/_downloads/Whitepaper-Hacking-jBoss-using-a-Browser.pdf

Just try to google for "jboss jmx management console" or "MBean inspector" and
you can hack or shutdown lot of JBoss instalations.

I know that it is fault of the admins, but there are techniques how to prevent
it. Maybe collegues from RedHat security can advise. Something like:

- the console is secured and random password for admin is generated during the
installation process (or maybe during the first run of the server? or anytime a
password is null a random password is generated?)

- the console is not configured by default. instead, the localhost:8080 points
to a static web page, which tell the user how to start secured (or unsecured)
jmx-console
