I think I've found my problem. It concerns the "enablePooling" init-parm of the org.apache.jasper.servlet.JspServlet. I have changed the init-parm in my jboss-3.2.5\server\default\deploy\jbossweb-tomcat50.sar\web.xml file but the apache instance in JBoss still appears to be pooling the Tags. Any ideas? jar files mÃssen bei webapps im web-inf/lib liegen, also das jar file dahinkopieren, und dann sollte es klappen vorallem da es ja ungepackt in web-inf/classes klappt. ...und anschliessend den Tomcat-Dienst neu starten, damit er die Klassen in den jars auch findet. Hi, I installed JBoss 4.0. When I compiled and deployed my ear file, I got the following security exception: org.jboss.deployment.DeploymentException: Error in accessing application metadata: ; - nested throwable: (java.lang.SecurityException: org.jboss.deployment.EARDeployment is not trusted, pd: ProtectionDomain (file:/work/build/myjbossinstance/lib/jboss.jar ) What does that mean? Note that /work/build/myjbossinstance is a copy of the 'default' instance, and I modified my start script to run this JBoss instance outside of the jboss home directory. The very same ear works in 3.2.5. FYI... I modified the build file to include jboss-ws4ee.sar and things built fine. I did find one other problem though... The book says that the WSDL can be pretty much anywhere in the JAR, and in fact the samples put it directly into the META-INF directory. JBoss doesn't like it there, and outputs an error message saying that it must be in the META-INF/wsdl directory. Once I moved the file, the web service deployed correctly. i have configured the mysql 4 to work with jboss 4.0 Can Bill/Sacha kindly tell me what corresponding change do i need to make in the ant script as that it works with mysql. I have tried to make the ex_04_01 work with this config. it gives me the following error when i run this 2nd time. (it works first time. then i do ant clean ant clean.db then it works for second time onwards for hypersonic db but not for mysql db ) I know its been pointed out by you guys on page 598 of workbook that i have to run ant clean.db task before running the client 2nd time. but the ant clean.db deletes ..\data\hypersonic folder only . how can i change it to delete the corresponding data for mysql. i have checked the corresponding folders in ..\data there is no mysql folder being made after default ant task completes , as is the case with jboss +hsqldb configuration. I don't know about Tibco, but if you end up having to implement something, there is an example of an integration of JBossMQ with oracle's AdvancedQueueing/JMS in the jboss patch 912173 (see link below). With JBoss 3.2.x implementing EJB 2.0 the like operator with a varaiable as argument is not supported for standard apps. Constant values are supported. If you surround the placeholder with '' this is a constant string, not a variable any more. There is an jboss specific extension which supports this. Put a constant after like in ejb-jar.xml and put the same query in jbosscmp-jdbc.xml with a variable. As far as I remember, the % sign has to be in the variables content. With JBoss 4.0 implementing EJB 2.1 the like operator with a variable is supported as a standard feature. Hi, I am hoping someone can help out with a problem we are experiencing in production under heavy load. We get the "no managed connections available" error show up and we cannot determine the cause. We have checked our code numerous times for connection, statement and resultset closing in try..finally blocks. We have no static connection variables in any of our code. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. One thing we do have set is in deploy/transaction-service.xml. Debug is set to true. Could this be the cause of our connection leak ? We are using JBoss 3.2.5, Oracle 9i, Thin client (ojdbc14.jar) and we have a Solaris Unix OS. Many thanks for any help. We are converting from jboss-3.0.0 here at work to jboss-4.0.1. As we are moving the applications one by one over for testing, I have found an issue with an EJB based java app. I am getting a EJB not bound. Is there a new jboss.xml file format? What am I missing? I'm trying to run the example where an EJB has a webservice endpoint. The build file is trying to include a SAR (jboss-net.sar) that does not show up in my clean JBoss 4.0 installation. Hi everyone, this shouldn't really be a matter of patterns but that's it, here it is anyway... Basically I have the following users hierarchy: pubilc class User{ String username; String passwd; //...other attributes common to all the types } public class Customer extends User{ ... } public class Guest extends User{ ... } Persisted with OJB. the point is that i'm trying to build an EJB to give an as much unified as possible interface to these VOs; the problem is that until now I didn't come up with anything that satisfies me. I don't know if it's better to add an attribute like User.type, so that I can handle the subclasses in a sort of facade. The point is that at least with the getters I am forced to have getUser() getCustomer() getGuest() since they must return the proper type. This has nothing to do with the AnyhostVerifier as you are not even getting to hostname verification. The client must specify that is trusts the signer of the server cert since you have created your own cert. Hi, I've just started using DQL in order to execute something like the following statement : SELECT OBJECT(o) FROM CusOrderItemEJB o WHERE o.product = ?1 and o.cycle IN (?2, ?3, ?4, ?5, ?6, ?7, ?8, ?9, ?10, ?11, ?12, ?13, ?14, ?15, ?16, ?17, ?18) This statement is generated (as per the DQL example in the free docs) in an ejbHome method which then calls the ejbSelectGeneric method. When I call the method, with the above SQL, I get the following error : 2004-10-05 14:52:04,289 [http-0.0.0.0-8080-Processor24] ERROR [STDERR] org.jboss.ejb.plugins.cmp.ejbql.ParseException: Encountered "o.cycle IN" at line 1, column 68. Was expecting one of: "ABS" ... "CONCAT" ... "COUNT" ... "MAX" ... "MIN" ... "AVG" ... "SUM" ... "LENGTH" ... etc. It appears that the compiler doesn't support the SQL 'IN'? Surely this has been used ... so what am I doing wrong? Finally got it working! I now use : Object objref = ic.lookup("MyRemoteEJBTest"); instead of: Object objref = ic.lookup("java:comp/env/ejb/remoteTest"); Anyone know why this works? I can see one is in the Global jndi namespace whilst the other in java:comp namespace, but not sure why this matters. Thanks for your response. The user accesses the webpage by going to the context-root, which then display the login form webpage. I enter the credentials, which it validates. Then when it is forwarding/redirecting to the appropriate page I get this error message. I have no problems with this under JBoss 3.0.3. Under that version I was using Jetty and now it is Tomcat. Perhaps there is a setting that I am not considering. The security mechanism does not want the user to go directly to the login page. What you need to do is make sure that the user was forwarded to the login page by the application server. I have seen people put scriptlets in the login page which check to see if the session is new and then redirect to a protected resource if it is. This will cause the servlet container to then redirect back to the login page. What I did was make my page protected and then it forwards to the login page immediately if the user is not logged in. I am trying to deploy a previously working application onto a newer JBoss installation. This application runs fine on JBoss 3.0.3 (Jetty). It deploys fine to 3.2.5 (Tomcat) and I can access the login page. However, the bean executes in the ejb container of the local server rather than the remote one. This can be verified by the number of instances in the JMX console. [JBoss-user] [Installation & Configuration] - Setting up webapp on Jboss 4 + Tomcat 5 in folder other then
Hello, I am trying to setup a webapp in folder other then deploy folder on Jboss+Tomcat combination. So far I have had no luck. I have been trying to specify context in server.xml in tomcat.sar folder with no luck. I have c:\jboss4.0.0 c:\ourWebApp (this contains the WEB-INF, etc). My standalone tomcat distribution can deploy the webapp from c:\ourWebApp if I modify the server.xml, just trying to do the same in with tomcat5.sar that came with jboss 4. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks, I'll try that. In fact my main mistake is to have left my MDB with a Required transaction type. It does not need to be transactional by itself : I also changed the demarcation. When upgrading to jboss 3.2.6RC2 the jboss.net module doesn't work anymore. I might be because it is using the new version of axis. [JBoss-user] [Persistence & CMP/JBoss] - CacheInvalidation invalidates local cache when I just want r
I am running with JBoss 3.2.3 with both clustering and cache-invalidation enabled. When I was looking at the performance I noticed that the cache-invalidation service appears to not only invalidate the remote caches but also the local cache as well. I can see that this might be useful if I have an ejb deployed as readonly as well as read-write but in my case I just have one deployed ejb. This means that every time I update the ejb, the cache is invalidated and a load is forced the nexst time I access the ejb! I might as well use commit option B... What am I missing? Is this a configuration issue or what? [JBoss-user] [Messaging, JMS & JBossMQ] - MDB processing freezes
Hi, I am using MDBs to have long tasks perform asynchronously, in a batch-like manner. The MDB pool has a strict limit of 2 instances, so only 2 tasks are performed at the same time. Quite often, JBoss just idles in the middle of processing. If I kill it and restart it, it restarts processing the queued JMS messages... There is no apparent deadlock. Mysql is idle, with no statement being processed. Hi, I tried configuring a Datasource for Ingres 3.0 database with JBoss 3.2.5 but when I deployed my EJBs I am getting "ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException". Following are the steps I did for the configuration a. created a file named "ingres-ds.xml" containing the datasource configuration details and placed the same in server/default/deploy directory b. Modified standardjaws.xml by changing the datasource name to "java:/IngresDS" and type-mapping to "Ingres" c. Modified standardjbosscmp-jdbc.xml by changing the datasource name to "java:/IngresDS" and type-mapping to "Ingres" d. Added the type-mapping element for Ingres in both the standard jboss xml filesas it is not there by default. After the above changes when I deployed my application I got ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException. I have pasted part of the stack trace below. If I do not change the type-mapping to "Ingres" and leave it as "Hypersonic SQL" it works fine without any issues. [JBoss-user] [Beginners Corner] - Migrating from Websphere
I am in the process of evaluating JBoss as a possible replacement to Websphere. I have an existing application that uses JSP tags, JMS, EJBs etc. So far I have managed to get a test app up that uses a datasource to access my database and uses JMS to get/put to a Websphere MQ queue. No problems yet. I have also managed to deploy my existing application so that JBoss starts up without any errors. However when I access a jsp that uses tags I find that the tags are duplicating the HTML that is produced. Subsequent refreshes on the page causes the duplication to double, triple etc. This carries on until I restart the JBoss server at which stage it all starts over. Has anyone encountered this bizarre behaviour before? The application runs perfectly under Websphere.
