[JBoss-user] [JBossWS] - Re: EJB3 client to web services
Yes you want be able to do this till the appropriate annotations are added. You are free to use JWSDP as your client stack. I don't know which jars you need off of the top of my head. To get an idea which jars you need they have a wsdeploy tool that builds a war. In that war they stuff the appropriate jars. If you run into classloading conflicts, you may need to remove JBossWS from your jboss instance. -Jason View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3874561#3874561 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3874561 --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: New Crystal Reports XI. [JBoss-user] [Installation & Configuration] - grr.. stupid classloaders!
I've had a very frustrating time with JBoss' ClassLoaders, and I just need to vent! It is currently IMPOSSIBLE to override libraries in your .wars or .ears that JBoss happens to use!! If you want to use a newer version of some commons-*.jar that JBoss happens to use, then you are out of luck! You can try all sorts of things, but nothing works. All you can do is use whatever version JBoss uses. It forces us to create a special .war just for JBoss. If you isolate your .ear classloader-wise, then the embedded Tomcat will use the version of the commons-*.jar in your application! Why can't it just use the one that came with JBoss and let me use the one in my .ear? Hi I would like to implemented a authentification module via LDAP directory. [JBoss-user] [Clustering/JBoss] - Failures in invoaction chain, is this a bug?
I'm testing various cluster configurations in 4.0.0 line. I have everything working and have been simulating nodes failures by invoking 'stop' on the MBean associated with the EJBs I want to take offline. I subsequently restart by 'touch'ing the deployment unit to get clean hot-deploy. Everything was going as expected until I hit 'destroy' one time by mistake and received the following exception and smart proxy didn't failover as I would expect: | java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: null object name | at org.jboss.mx.server.registry.BasicMBeanRegistry.get(BasicMBeanRegistry.java:495) | at org.jboss.mx.server.MBeanServerImpl.invoke(MBeanServerImpl.java:636) | at org.jboss.invocation.jrmp.server.JRMPInvokerHA.invoke(JRMPInvokerHA.java:163) | at sun.reflect.GeneratedMethodAccessor53.invoke(Unknown Source) | at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.java:25) | at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:324) | at sun.rmi.server.UnicastServerRef.dispatch(UnicastServerRef.java:261) | at sun.rmi.transport.Transport$1.run(Transport.java:148) | at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) | at sun.rmi.transport.Transport.serviceCall(Transport.java:144) | at sun.rmi.transport.tcp.TCPTransport.handleMessages(TCPTransport.java:460) | at sun.rmi.transport.tcp.TCPTransport$ConnectionHandler.run(TCPTransport.java:701) | at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:534) | at sun.rmi.transport.StreamRemoteCall.exceptionReceivedFromServer(StreamRemoteCall.java:247) | at sun.rmi.transport.StreamRemoteCall.executeCall(StreamRemoteCall.java:223) | at sun.rmi.server.UnicastRef.invoke(UnicastRef.java:133) | at org.jboss.invocation.jrmp.server.JRMPInvoker_Stub.invoke(Unknown Source) | at org.jboss.invocation.jrmp.interfaces.JRMPInvokerProxyHA.invoke(JRMPInvokerProxyHA.java:189) | at org.jboss.invocation.MarshallingInvokerInterceptor.invoke(MarshallingInvokerInterceptor.java:73) | at org.jboss.proxy.TransactionInterceptor.invoke(TransactionInterceptor.java:46) | at org.jboss.proxy.SecurityInterceptor.invoke(SecurityInterceptor.java:55) | at org.jboss.proxy.ejb.StatelessSessionInterceptor.invoke(StatelessSessionInterceptor.java:97) | at org.jboss.proxy.ClientContainer.invoke(ClientContainer.java:86) | at $Proxy42.outputVersion(Unknown Source) | My thought is that since the error wasn't wrapped as a EJBException the method call is assumed to have generated 'side-effects' the client would need to handle? or am I just thinking too hard and this is a bug? [JBoss-user] [EJB/JBoss] - Re: Synchronization
Ok, I was not quite correct. I could register a Synchronization instance with javax.transaction.Tramsaction, or I could have my session beans implement SessionSynchronization. However I don't see an equivalent "MessageDrivenSynchronization" capability for MDBs. My experience of registering against javax.transaction.Transaction is that other infrastructure components do the same, and that the order of invocation of afterCompletion(boolean) is non-deterministic. The problem comes when an infrastructure component treats afterCompletion() as the place where it will do its own commit work. So my Synchronization instance is often called BEFORE all the commit work has been done. Is the Synchronization interface conceptually missing another entrypoint? We have one for before-commit, one for after-completion, but none for commit-now, so some adaptors use after-completion for that purpose View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3874533#3874533 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3874533 --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: New Crystal Reports XI. [JBoss-user] [JBossWS] - Unable to deserialize array as RPC/encoded input argument
Hello, I've got a EJB with these two service-endpoint methods : public ContentArray getAllContents() public void updateAllContents(ContentArray contentArray) where ContentArray is : public class ContentArray { private Content[] contentArray; public Content[] getContentArray() { return contentArray; } public void setContentArray(Content[] contentArray) { this.contentArray = contentArray; } } And Content : public class Content implements Serializable { private long id; private String title; private String body; (...) public Content() { this(0); } public Content(long id) { this.id = id; } public long getId() { return this.id; } public void setId(long id) { this.id = id; } public String getBody() { return body; } public String getTitle() { return title; } public void setBody(String string) { body = string; } public void setTitle(String string) { title = string; } (...) } I use wscompile to generate the WSDL file and the jaxrpc mapping file for rpc/encoded style. I have generated 2 plain webservice clients : one Java client using wscompile and one .net (C#) client using VisualStudio standard feature. NB : My target is to use the .net client, the Java client is just here to avoid investigating .net specific issues With both I have the same problem : I can retreive a ContentArray object calling getAllContents() but when I call updateContentArray(ContentArray contentArray) I always get the following error : org.xml.sax.SAXException: No deserializer defined for array type {http://com.xxx.yyy}Content Maybe is there something magical I should put by hand in ws4ee-deployment.xml although the generated WSDD file has already a mapping defined automatically (at least with JBoss 4.0.2RC1) for Content and ContentArray. Any help would be apreciated ! PS : As a temporary "workaround" I turned to document/litteral style and then everything works fine... But the generation procedure is far too manual at these stage to be really usable in a project context :-( I suppose it will be easier in next versions... [JBoss-user] [Management, JMX/JBoss] - Where I can get more info about Exposing MBean Events via SN
Hello all, I use JBoss 4.0.0. And snmp-adaptor.sar in my deploy folder. In trap viewer I can see just one trap type "coldstart", but I don't see "heartbeat" - I didn't get any "heartbeat". I have / read jboss4guide/html/ch2.chapter.html#ch2.trap.fig , but that isn't enough for me. Where I can get more info about how to code "notifications.xml"? Any Example how to expose MyMBean notifications via SNMP would be great. In my MBean code I send notification as: long now = System.currentTimeMillis(); AttributeChangeNotification stateChange = new AttributeChangeNotification( this, getNextNotificationSequenceNumber(), now, getName() + " initializing", "State", "java.lang.Integer", new Integer(STARTED), new Integer(mBeanState)); sendNotification(stateChange); What I have to add into notifications.xml to send the SNMP trap for that notification? What I'm missing that heartbeat doesn't send any traps? There is notifications.xml I use: heartbeat 3 0 1.2.3.4.5.6.7 a:uptime 1.2.3.4.5.6.7.5 a:trapCount 1.2.3.4.5.6.7.6 n:message 1.2.3.4.5.6.7.7 n:sequenceNumber 1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8 coldstart 0 0 1.2.3.4.5.6.7 a:startTime 1.2.3.4.5.6.7.9 a:trapCount 1.2.3.4.5.6.7.6 Thanks a lot View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3874500#3874500 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3874500 --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: New Crystal Reports XI. Hello, I'm trying to make JBoss 4.0.1SP1 working with web app without putting it into deploy folder. If I put appropriate tag into sever.xml it gives me a lot of errors when I try to open my jsp files. The errors are about a packages that cannot be found. [JBoss-user] [JBossWS] - Re: HTTPS : java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out
Hello, I'm getting tired but debugging in Eclipse shows that the characters ÃÂ in the word SloveniÃÂ are correct translated to Ã. Because a test with a lot bigger result coming with the same characters gives a good result over https. So for me it is a mystery why you can see that after 2 seconds you see the result coming in over https with Ethereal and the reader in JBoss still waits for some ending. [JBoss-user] [Clustering/JBoss] - hot deployment not correctly working in cluster ?
Hi folks, I've got an interesting issue at hand: 4 nodes, running JBoss in a cluster. I have consistent problems deploying my applications: Once I deploy a new version of an existing app (e.g. replace the respective file in $JBOSS_HOME/server/all/farm), the file gets correctly deleted on all other nodes i the cluster, but the new file does not get distributed correctly! [JBoss-user] [Messaging, JMS & JBossMQ] - JMS MessageListener using different instace of object
Hi, I'm having a very strange problem here. I have an instance of an object that is initially and only constructed from a Servlet. However, this object has a MessageListener to recieve messages from a queue. The problem is this: When I debug this class, I notice that the memory ID's in the debugger are different when the object is interacted by the Servlet or the MessageListener. For example: Scenario 1) Servlet invokes method a() on class TmpObj. -In the debugger I notice that the TmpObj instance has an memory ID of 207. Scenario 2)TmpObj MessageListener recieves a message to invoke method a(). -In the debugger I can see that the TmpObj instance has a different memory ID of 301. I know this may sounds very confusing but I have double checked to make sure that the servlet is the ONLY object constructing my TmpObj class. Has anyone else had this problem? No. A custom authenticator or valve is required. [JBoss-user] [Management, JMX/JBoss] - Re: How to lookup a MBean from MBeanServer?
Well, your original post implies that you want to somehow find a way to do so via the MBeanServer API. I'm simply saying there is no way. JMX API specifically is designed to avoid allowing what you want (irrespective of the fact that you have the ObjectName - that doesn't matter). You cannot get the object reference from the MBeanServer API. I suppose you could play some games with the MBean's interface itself. Say, have a method on it like "getSelf()" and have it "return this". You would be forced to make an initial JMX API call to invoke that method via MBeanServer.invoke() but it would return the object reference and you could use that to then make direct calls to it. Kinda defeats the purpose of JMX, but it sounds like that's what you want to do. Also, this will only work if the client is co-located with the MBeanServer - unless you use JBoss/Remoting or some other such thing to "remote" the MBean method calls. [JBoss-user] [EJB/JBoss] - CMP - Local EJBs are making distinct calls to the database w
I am using JBoss 3.2.5 (xdoclet based) with MySQL 4.1 I have been load testing my application and have found that separate database calls are being made to retrieve the persistent field values. The ejb finders are making a single call to retrieve all the field values. Is there a way to make the local entity bean retrieve all the filed values at once and use them instead of making separate calls to the database? For example, customerLocal.getName(); customerLocal.getAddress(); makes distinct database calls select name from customer where (customerId=?) select address from customer where (customerId=?) Instead I would like the ejb container to make a single call select customerId, name, address, etc from customer where (customerId=?) [JBoss-user] [Management, JMX/JBoss] - Re: Service Binding Manager and Log4jService
Dimitris, you're a genius! Changing the order worked, but as I expected, the XSLTFileDelegate didn't work. I'm gonna try my hand at implementing XSLTURLDelegate. Should be very similar to the file delegate. It's unfortunate that the binding delegates aren't setup well to be extended. They provide no hooks for subclasses to alter small pieces of functionality. It seems a basic abstract delegate should be provided to share functionality as well as offer subclasses a way to handle specific parameter types. For example, XSLTConfigDelegate allows for arbitrary parameter bindings into the transformation. XSLTFileDelegate only allows parameter bindings for "host" and "port". IMO, that functionality should be refactored into a base class. If there's interest, I would be willing to do the refactoring and submit the code. [JBoss-user] [JBossWS] - Classloading and WS
I have an application deployed inVM through a simple JMX wrapper. The application itself deploys its own modules from a repository independent of jboss, lets say: c:\myapp\deploy. To get this working i add the urls to the modules in myapp\deploy to the mbeans RepositoryClassLoader, and set that classloader to load the myapp modules. So far so good. The myapp application registers itself in jndi, to be accessible locally from a sessionbean used as a web service endpoint. This session bean exists in its own jar file in default\deploy. When running a test ws client it complains on not finding a classloader for the object returned by a jndi lookup to myapp. I may have misunderstood but it seems just adding urls to the cl repository is just not enough... Any suggestions? [JBoss-user] [Persistence & CMP/JBoss] - How to insert an Order Detail ??????
Hi, i have a classic scenario : and Order with a lot of details. I created them with JBuilder and i defined a relashionship between them : one order has more details. I have noticd that the Order entity has inside a collection of details. Well, when i have to insert or update and order i pass to the method an Object which contains the Order and all its details so what is the right way to insert the order. I did the following : 1) set the values of the Order 2) i scroll the Vector inside the Order object and i create the entity Detail ( so if the order has 10 details i call 10 times the entity Detail ) So, how can i use the collection inside the entity Order. I think that i have just a little bit of confusion inside my mind. Cheers anyway. [JBoss-user] [Persistence & CMP/JBoss] - Re: Unable to passivate due to ctx lock
I've reviewed our code and the problem is occuring because we are defining the properties of an Entity as a one-to-many relationship between the Entity CMP bean and EntityProperty CMP beans: | | | Order-OrderProperty | | property-associated-with-order | Many | | |OrderPropertyEntity | | |orderEntity | | | | | order-has-properties | One | |OrderEntity | | |orderProperties |java.util.Set | | | | | Within our transaction we hold the reference to the OrderEntity bean, but not the OrderPropertyEntity beans, and it seems as if the latter are being flushed when the option-D refresh thread is triggered. That leaves the OrderEntity bean with references to empty OrderPropertyEntity beans. (The JBoss documentation says that option D does not satisfy the EJB spec - is this why?) Any ideas as to how we can work around this? [JBoss-user] [Messaging, JMS & JBossMQ] - Re: JMS Max Message limit
There is only an absolut maximum message count, but no messages per second limitation. If you encounter OutOfMemory-Exceptions may be you should reconfigure your JVM memory setting and tune the JMS MessageCache settings ! [JBoss-user] [Messaging, JMS & JBossMQ] - JMS Max Message limit
Hi, Does anyone know how to set the limit of JMS message queue receiving per second? Say 100 messages per second. This is to avoid too much processing from JBOSS that will lead a out of memory issue. TQ. [JBoss-user] [JBossCache] - Re: Cache deadlock problem when using TreeCache as 2LC for h
Hello Just wondering; does this mean that I have to disable the cache for my project? I have (as everyone) concurrent access (admin and batch updates, combinded with customer read access) and had used a transactional cache for common entities. I keep getting timeouts upon concurrent access to these entities, under what seems to be a deadlock, as both threads stop. Using Hibernate 2.1 and Jboss 3.2 and JbossCache 1.2. Thanks a bunch. [JBoss-user] [JBoss Getting Started Documentation] - Re: Could not find jboss-build.properties under j2ee tutoria
The whole thing looks like a mess. Perhaps we've got the wrong archive(s) but that's just one of the problems i've found too. This is part of what i was intending to post somewhere: (Quoting from http://docs.jboss.org/jbossas/getting_started/startguide40/dukesbank.html#d0e1044) Before we can build, you'll need to edit the jboss-build.properties file in the j2eetutorial14 to point to your JBoss install directory There is no file of that name. The file with the jboss.home property in it is build.properties, in and contains, in the JBoss 1.4 version, incorrectly: jboss.home=-- FIXME: Point to JBoss 3.2.x installation which should of course be something more like: jboss.home=-- FIXME: Point to JBoss 4.x.y installation View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&p=3874423#3874423 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=posting&mode=reply&p=3874423 --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: New Crystal Reports XI. [JBoss-user] [Installation & Configuration] - Re: Application properties outside the ear package in 4.0
Thanks for the quick reply, Dimitris, I implemented a simple filter that uses DeploymentFilter as default filter and excludes .properties itself (code is after the message), and I got rid of the 'Failed to add deployable jar' message. However the bundle still is not on the classpath because I get MissingResourceException: | 13:00:02,109 ERROR [LogInterceptor] RuntimeException in method: public abstract java.lang.String com | .nbl.ejb.HalloEJB.sayHallo(): | java.util.MissingResourceException: Can't find bundle for base name Hallo, locale en_US | at java.util.ResourceBundle.throwMissingResourceException(ResourceBundle.java:804) | at java.util.ResourceBundle.getBundleImpl(ResourceBundle.java:773) | at java.util.ResourceBundle.getBundle(ResourceBundle.java:511) | at com.nbl.ejb.HalloEJBBean.sayHallo(HalloEJBBean.java:17) | at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) | I put a log message that tells me the file is excluded and it shows it is ignored: | 13:03:38,906 INFO [STDOUT] Ignore URL:file:/F:/newServers/jboss-4.0.1sp1/server/default/deploy/ | hallo/(Hallo.properties) | Anyway, thanks for the quick reply. I have another question: is 4.0.2 available somewhere or it is scheduled for later times, since I didn't see it in the downloads section. That is right if you using the run.bat batch script to start JBoss. [JBoss-user] [Installation & Configuration] - Re: Application properties outside the ear package in 4.0
Isn't this because the URLDeploymentScanner recurses into the 'hallo' subdir, then attempts to deploy 'hallo.properties' file using the JARDeployer? I guess the solution is to configure the Scanner to ignore the .properties extension (i.e. add .properites to the suffixes list below): | --> | | | #,%,\,,.,_$ | | #,$,%,~,\,v,.BAK,.bak,.old,.orig,.tmp,.rej,.sh | | .make.state,.nse_depinfo,CVS,CVS.admin,RCS,RCSLOG,SCCS,TAGS,core,tags | | This is introduced in v4.0.2. thanks for your answer i have found following two lines in the "run.bat" file: rem Sun JVM memory allocation pool parameters. Modify as appropriate. set JAVA_OPTS=%JAVA_OPTS% -Xms128m -Xmx512m is that right???
