I don't get your rationale of not to depend on TreeCache version. [JBoss-user] [Management, JMX/JBoss] - JBoss LoggingMonitor MBean Submission
I have submitted a JBoss Logging Monitor MBean that provides for the logging of specified MBean attributes. From the introduction section of the wiki: anonymous wrote : The JBoss LoggingMonitor service is similar in purpose to the other monitoring services provided as a part of JBossAS in the org.jboss.monitor package. The JBoss LoggingMonitor service monitor's the specified attributes of a MBean periodically and logs their value to the filename specified. [JBoss-user] [EJB/JBoss] - Re: Startup crash under eclipse
Ok. I've managed to get the source down and found the following. The first exception is raised when an attempt is made to load from the jnp.properties file if it exists. If it doesn't an exception is thrown (which is ignored anyway), here's the code (jboss-3.2.7-src/naming/src/main/org/jnp/server/Main.java) | try | { | ClassLoader loader = getClass().getClassLoader(); | InputStream is = loader.getResourceAsStream(jnp.properties); | System.getProperties().load(is); | } | catch (Exception e) | { | // Ignore | } | I have no idea why eclipse is suddenly picking this up. The second also seems quite harmless, as it's due to an attempt to close a stream that was never opened - again I have no clue why Eclipse is trapping these now. Apart from being quite annoying (having to click continue multiple times), it looks like these are mostly harmless. Thanks for listening ;) View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=viewtopicp=3876252#3876252 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=postingmode=replyp=3876252 --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: NEC IT Guy Games. Hi. The last reply to my own posts for this thread - I promise. Turns out there are options in the Eclipse debugger (when in the debug view) under Breakpoints where one can toggle break on NullPointerException ClassCastException. These got turned out by magic - without them all is fine. i'm configuring our web application to get URL's from doing a JNDI lookup. i have the resource-ref defined in web.xml, and have the coresponding resource-ref defined in jboss-web.xml. this seems to work, but we would really like to have these definitions outside of the jboss-web.xml. it would be nice to define them at the server configuration level so that we can deploy application A.war to machine foo which has a url ref pointing to internal.server.com, and also deploy applicaion A.war to machine bar which has a url ref pointing to external.server.com. how can i configure this so that i can deploy the same ear/war to different app servers w/o touching the ear/war? [JBoss-user] [Beginners Corner] - Multiple application interference in JBoss
Hi I have 2 very similar applications deployed on JBoss-4.0.1. Both applications have the same class which generates labels for a menu structure. The only difference is that the one class uses a description as the button label and the other one uses a code as the button label (one class that was copied and altered). If I deploy these war files individually (one at a time) - both of them work perfectly, but if i deploy them at the same time the application that should use the descriptions as button labels all of a sudden uses the code while the other application is working fine(using the code). Thus, it seems that both applications are using the same class to generate the menu. These classes are situated in the WEB-INF/classes/.. directories of the seperate war files. If anyone has had the same kind of problem where it seems that classes are being shared between seperate applications please let me know what the problem is. P.S : the classes have exactly the same name. [JBoss-user] [EJB/JBoss] - Lock contention during test
Hi, I'm getting a lock contention during the launch of a junitee test of my application. This lock contention is coming out when I call the remove method on a entity bean. My test is quite simple, create needed entities in the setUp() method. Call an entry point of the application by providing some data. Let the application run and remove all the created entities in the tearDown() method. When I simulate the flow with a bean shell, everything works fine. I tried to run the test by moving the deletion of created entities (the ones that create this lock contection) in the test itself: not much. I tried to remove the entities in different way: by getting a Collection and iterate over the Collection, by getting a single entry, ...): same. I investigated more by tracing org.jboss.tm and org.jboss.ejb.BeanLock... but this is throwing a lot of unreadable (at least for me) logs. [JBoss-user] [JBossWS] - Handler's handleFault not being called
I wrote a JAX-RPC Handler to log Exceptions from our Web Services but I realized that handleFault is not being called. Instead, handleResponse is being called with the Exception as a property on the message context. Is this the intended behaviour according to JAX-RPC and J2EE 1.4 specifications? Is there a way to get handleFault to be called? Is there any case that it happens by default? Or at least: Is there a way to put our hands on the SOAP Fault message on the Hadler side? [JBoss-user] [JBossCache] - How do u guys do it?
Well in my grad paper i'm going to talk besides other things about jboss cache too. I'm gonna say that JBoss Cache is a tree which can be replicated between processes. Now i'm gonna have an audience of professors which know crap, but to hide their knowledge they like to ask a lot of stupid questions mostly unrelated to the subject. But just in case that someone decides to get smart and asks the question: How can java replicate an object between processes? Doesn't that imply that they need some kind of shared memory? Does java implements a tool for that? Or is it the case where a process is started and it spawnes some threads and they of course have the shared memory. I'm sure it;s not that. Or when i say cache.start() does it create a localhost socket and comunicates with other processes? Does it work with instances of objects created localy but inside different virtual machines? [JBoss-user] [JBossCache] - Re: Shallow synchronous replication with TreeCacheAop
Yes I agree it should be replicating, the problem is that it isn't. I must be doing something wrong, but for the life of me I can't see what it is. I've gone through all of the tutorials and reference pages, and my configuration seems correct. The synchronous replication of the cached objects in the TreeCacheAop just doesn't happen as advertised. When a new object is added to the TreeCacheAop it's correctly replicated into the other TreeCacheAops on all nodes of the cluster, but any subsequent modifications of the cached objects are not replicated, and everything quickly becomes out of sync. Below is a summary of my configuration and code, hopefully someone can see where I'm going awry: The class which uses the TreeCacheAop is UserActivityManager, which is a Simple MBean. [JBoss-user] [Messaging, JMS JBossMQ] - Re: java.lang.Out of memory Error
Hi Saurabh, I am also facing the same problem. Btw, which version of jBoss you use? I am currently using jBoss 3.2.3 and Hibernate 3.0 with JMS. If you find the solution for the problem, can you please post the same in the forums? Thanks and regards, B. Krishna Menon. [JBoss-user] [JBossWS] - BeanSerializerFactory in JBoss 4.0.2
Hi, Is there a problem in using the BeanDeserializerFactory and BeanSerializerFactory in JBoss 4.0.2? When I deployed my service the .wsdd showed that the MetaDataBeanSerializerFactory was being used by default. I wanted to use the BeanSerializerFactory instead and I wrote a ws4ee-deployment.xml file. I just copied the type-mappings from the .wsdd and replaced the MetaDataBeanSerializer/DeSerializer Factories with the fully qualified name of BeanSerializerFactory. I got an exception (in JBoss 4.0.2 but not in JBoss 4.0.1). | 13:51:13,622 ERROR [ServiceDeployer] Cannot startup webservice for: sidrpc-ejb.jar | org.jboss.deployment.DeploymentException: Cannot deploy webservice; - nested throwable: (org.jboss. | xis.deployment.wsdd.WSDDException: java.lang.ClassCastException | java.lang.ClassCastException | at org.jboss.axis.encoding.ser.BaseSerializerFactory.createFactory(BaseSerializerFactory.ja | a:306) | at org.jboss.axis.deployment.wsdd.WSDDService.deployTypeMapping(WSDDService.java:609) | at org.jboss.axis.deployment.wsdd.WSDDService.initTMR(WSDDService.java:294) | at org.jboss.axis.deployment.wsdd.WSDDService.init(WSDDService.java:272) | at org.jboss.axis.deployment.wsdd.WSDDDeployment.init(WSDDDeployment.java:255) | at org.jboss.axis.deployment.wsdd.WSDDDocument.init(WSDDDocument.java:120) | at org.jboss.axis.utils.Admin.processWSDD(Admin.java:153) | at org.jboss.axis.utils.Admin.process(Admin.java:248) | at org.jboss.webservice.AxisService.deployService(AxisService.java:351) | at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Native Method) | at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(NativeMethodAccessorImpl.java:39) | at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.java:25) | at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:324) | at org.jboss.mx.interceptor.ReflectedDispatcher.invoke(ReflectedDispatcher.java:144) | at org.jboss.mx.server.Invocation.dispatch(Invocation.java:80) | at org.jboss.mx.server.Invocation.invoke(Invocation.java:72) | at org.jboss.mx.server.AbstractMBeanInvoker.invoke(AbstractMBeanInvoker.java:249) | at org.jboss.mx.server.MBeanServerImpl.invoke(MBeanServerImpl.java:644) | at org.jboss.mx.util.JMXInvocationHandler.invoke(JMXInvocationHandler.java:272) | at $Proxy24.deployService(Unknown Source) | at org.jboss.webservice.ServiceDeployer.deployWebservices(ServiceDeployer.java:373) | at org.jboss.webservice.ServiceDeployerEJB.deployWebservices(ServiceDeployerEJB.java:103) | at org.jboss.webservice.ServiceDeployer.startWebservice(ServiceDeployer.java:233) | at org.jboss.webservice.ServiceDeployer.handleNotification(ServiceDeployer.java:112) | at sun.reflect.GeneratedMethodAccessor3.invoke(Unknown Source) | at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.java:25) | at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:324) | at org.jboss.mx.notification.NotificationListenerProxy.invoke(NotificationListenerProxy.jav | :138) | Here's my ws4ee-deployment.xml | deployment | xmlns='http://xml.apache.org/axis/wsdd/' | xmlns:java='http://xml.apache.org/axis/wsdd/providers/java' | xmlns:soap='http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/' | xmlns:xsi='http://www.w3.org/2000/10/XMLSchema-instance' | xmlns:xsd='http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema' | typeMapping | qname='ns1:SidInput' xmlns:ns1='http://sidrpc.com' | type='java:com.sidrpc.SidInput' | serializer='org.apache.axis.encoding.ser.BeanSerializerFactory' | deserializer='org.apache.axis.encoding.ser.BeanDeserializerFactory' | encodingStyle='' | /typeMapping | | typeMapping | qname='ns1:SidOutput' xmlns:ns1='http://sidrpc.com' | type='java:com.sidrpc.SidOutput' | serializer='org.apache.axis.encoding.ser.BeanSerializerFactory' | deserializer='org.apache.axis.encoding.ser.BeanDeserializerFactory' | encodingStyle='' | /typeMapping | | | /deployment | Here's the .wsdd without a ws4ee-deployment.xml | deployment | xmlns='http://xml.apache.org/axis/wsdd/' | xmlns:java='http://xml.apache.org/axis/wsdd/providers/java' | xmlns:soap='http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/' | xmlns:xsi='http://www.w3.org/2000/10/XMLSchema-instance' | xmlns:xsd='http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema' | | service name='sidrpc-ejb.jar#SidRPCPort' style='rpc' use='literal' provider='Handler' | | parameter name='webserviceID' value='sidrpc-ejb.jar#SidRPCPort' / | parameter name='handlerClass' value='org.jboss.webservice.server.InvokerProviderEJB' / | | operation name='concat' qname='ns1:concat' returnQName='result'

[JBoss-user] [EJB/JBoss] - Re: jboss4, EJB local interfaces, and multiple isolated EARs
EAR-ISOLATION=ON SHARED CLASS REPOSITORY in all the jboss-app.xml descriptors EJBs deployed in a standalone jar with the above (jboss-app.xml) EARs deployed with the above (jboss-app.xml) I do NOT understand how two isolated EARs could share the local interfaces to the EJBs without blowing either a ClassCastException or ClassNotFoundException ... First off, is it legal to do local ejb refs from either isolated EAR? or do the ejbs require deployment within the EAR in order to use local interface? If I bundle the local interfaces from the ejbs.jar inside either EAR then we get into the classcastexception any time an ejb lookup happens. If I do not include the local interfaces into the ear then my *.war in there will not find it and throws ClassNotFoundException. Shouldn't the classloader look into the shared class repository if it does not find the requested class in the current jar/war/ear ? And if your EJBs are deployed in a standalone JAR, then wouldn't they push refs of the local interfaces into the shared repository? Or not? How can your EAR modules, like a WAR, correctly find the LocalInterface of the ejb from the repository? [JBoss-user] [Beginners Corner] - Failed to boot JBoss: javax.management.InstanceNotFoundExcep
I have done a search throughout the web to find resolution to this problem and discovered that I am not alone in my dilema. When I try to start Jboss the startup fails with a most cryptic error. However, it would appear that the WebLogic folks had a similar problem with their stuff failing in the same sun module: Here is the Web Logic CR: ++ In WebLogic Server 6.1 SP03, an InstanceNotFoundException occurred when creating a JMS Topic at runtime in a cluster. [JBoss-user] [Security JAAS/JBoss] - Re: Problem with logout with FORM based authentication and s
There is no spec defined behavior that indicates that request principal should change when the session is invalidated. In general, the request principal has nothing to do with the session. Only FORM auth has any association between the authenticated user and the session. [JBoss-user] [Beginners Corner] - Silly session timeout question
I am trying to control the session timeout value of a webapp deployed under JBOSS 3.2. I cannot get control. I change the session-timeout value in web.xml and my session does not time out. When I look at the web-console entry for this web app Under Current sessions statistics - Max inactive time it says 60, but down below, where it shows the deployment descriptor it says: session-config session-timeout1/session-timeout /session-config The latter is correct. This is at present simply deployed on a local jboss server with a local apache webserver. What other configuration could be causing the web.xml session-timeout value to be ignored? [JBoss-user] [Installation Configuration] - commons-logging Configuration Problem
I've been waiting for the release of 4.0.2 hoping that it would solve a problem that I'm having that is similar to this thread. I'm trying to use commons-logging with log4j using my own log4j.xml config file, but JBoss (or Tomcat?) doesn't seem to want to cooperate. I've set up a scoped class loader as detailed on the logging wiki page, and have downloaded the sample log4j.war file. It works fine, but it uses log4j directly. Grrr, not what I'd like... Here's portion of the log4j.xml file I have working in the log4j.war app: | appender name=STDOUT class=org.apache.log4j.ConsoleAppender | param name=Target value=System.out/ | layout class=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout | param name=ConversionPattern value=%d{ABSOLUTE} %5p %c:%L - %m%n/ | /layout | /appender | | root | priority value=debug/ | appender-ref ref=STDOUT/ | /root | I've changed the snoop.jsp as follows: | private Log myLog = LogFactory.getLog(foo); | // log4j Logger log already defined in file | log.debug(log4j.debug); | myLog.debug(commons-logging.debug); | I see the log4j statement printed to the console, but not the commons-logging one. Is there any way around this? According to the JIRA issue that this relates to it seems that 4.0.2 simply ignores any commons-logging jars in the webapp's lib dir. Does this mean that it's using a jar from JBoss or Tomcat's classloader, which is in turn using a log4j library in the same scope? Thanks for any assistance. [JBoss-user] [JNDI/Naming/Network] - jboss - tomcat jndi problem
I currently have Jboss and tomcat setup on a separate machines. Tomcat can access jboss's jndi resources such as ejbs. I have done this by settings tomcats system properties to: JAVA_OPTS=-Djava.naming.factory.initial=org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContextFactory -Djava.naming.provider.url=host2:1099 -Djava. naming.factory.url.pkgs=org.jboss.naming:org.jnp.interfaces I have now added role based security to one of the ejbs deployed on jboss (using org.jboss.security.auth.spi.UsersRolesLoginModule), how can tomcat authenticate webapps to use this ejb? I have tried using tomcat memory realm implementation. but after the browser authenticates me as the correct user the jndi resource cannot be retrived from jboss. The following error occurs: 'RemoteException occurred in server thread; nested exception is: java.rmi.AccessException: SecurityException; nested exception is: java.lang.SecurityException: Authentication exception, principal=null' I guess i need to provide the principle to use in the system properties, but have no idea as what to use. I would be greatful for any suggestions, Tim View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=viewtopicp=3876344#3876344 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=postingmode=replyp=3876344 --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: NEC IT Guy Games. [JBoss-user] [Performance Tuning] - idle time goes to 0 in an instant and stays that way
First 1 processor went to 0% idle and then 73 seconds later the 2nd processor also went to 0%, and stayed down. Looking at our vmstat logs, this happened yesterday at 2:06 PM, but amazingly, nobody complained about the system being unusually slow until this afternoon, at which point we restarted JBoss. Here are the facts: - Throughout this time, the system still responded to requests, most of the time very quickly, but sometimes not at all. - vmstat shows an almost constant 0% idle, the only exceptions being about 10 blibs per minute going up to 7% idle, and going to 50% idle for 2.5 seconds at exactly-60-second intervals. - We have a two processor machine. - At the time we restarted, the JVM was running about 490 threads. - We have maxProcessors set to 200. - Along with the drop to 0% idle, the context switches reported by vmstat jumped from an average of about 1000 per second to an average of about 300,000 per second. - This is the first time this has happened on a system that has been running under JBoss for 2.5 years, with steadily increasing traffic. - Last application patch was a minor one two days ago; last major patch was 2 months ago. - DB load and web server load during this whole time was normal. What could it be? An infinite loop in newly deployed code? A JBoss configuration setting that's reached a threshhold? An OS setting? Ok lets try it this way, rather than paste the whole blasted startup output into this window (which breaks the server), I will just paste interesting pieces. Note: I have yet to ever in my life see JBoss work on my machine. I saw someone else run JBoss on their machine but that is of little help to me. [JBoss-user] [Messaging, JMS JBossMQ] - Re: can't get JMS to rollback send using JmsXA
Its taken me a while to get back to this test and try your recommendations. I agree that the test code was not conserving resources the way it was written, but I did not give thought to the fact that the session and publisher was being created in a transaction and the publish was created in another transaction. I have re-arranged to java code within the bean and now derive the expected results; the JMS publish now gets rolled back with the JDBC/TX rollback. | ejbCreate() { |//just lookup TopicConnectionFactory and Topic | | business method() { | //cFactory.createConnection() | //connection.createSession() | //session.createPublisher() | //session.createMessage() | //publisher.publish(msg) | //call entity bean which sets rollbackOnly | //close publisherm session, and connection | The setting of Shared versus Unshared in the resource-ref had no noticeable impact on the transaction behavior. Although your comments there may have been targeted towards conserving resources. Thanks for the sanity check. jim View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=viewtopicp=3876379#3876379 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=postingmode=replyp=3876379 --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: NEC IT Guy Games. hmm, the message was cut by jboss forum (may be i should have used some special tags to add xml-fragment) in fact i meant add com.plesk.ka.model as a FilteredPackages. I apologize for the post as I should have first search for similar problem on the message board before posting my question. Any way a quick search helped me find the solution. I removed jboss-ws4ee.sar from my deploy directory. Walla, it worked as intended. So far so good. Thanks for your time. [JBoss-user] [Security JAAS/JBoss] - Re: JAAS Howto: README FIRST
Hi, i have a problem in password encryption. i send a username and password to jboss-4 by encordURL(j_security_check) action in the login page. My original passwords are stored in a database in a encorded format. So i want to encrypt the user enterd password before it compare with the passwords in database. any encrption format is ok. is there a built in encrpted formats in jboss-4? then i can use them to encrypt the password which are store in database. What i do for that? replys would be greatly appriciated. janath View the original post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=viewtopicp=3876386#3876386 Reply to the post : http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bbop=postingmode=replyp=3876386 --- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: NEC IT Guy Games.
