Here is a more complete example:

  |
  | http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance";
  | xsi:schemaLocation="urn:jbpm.org:jpdl-3.1
urn:jbpm.org/xsd/jpdl-3.1.xsd"

  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
You can replace the first state part and the decision part with:

  |
  |
  |
  |<variable name="aName" mapped-name="mappedName"/>
  |<expression>
  |executionContext.setVariable("mappedName",
"tr1");
  |</expression>
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |

I hope this introduces some more clearness!

Hi, sbhatti!

Try setting anonymous wrote : end-tasks property of the task node to true and
set the first transition to be the one you want to go when the task is
finished. This way when you end a task with

  | taskInstance.end();
  |
all the other ununfinished tasks will be ended and the token will proceed to
the default leaving transition which is the first one in the list.
You can use

  | taskInstance(transitionName);

of course if you feel more comfortable.

Hi, lethrech!
You must specify your decision handler implementation as value of the
¨handler¨ attribute of the decision node.
The class specified in a node-leave action must implement ActionHandler not
DecisionHandler. When leaving a node the method anonymous wrote : execute of
this implementation is called and that? all.
While on the other hand jBPM engine calls the anonymous wrote : decide method
of your decision handler implementation to pick the appropriate transition. Be
carefull because a transition name must be returned my this method not the
anonymous wrote : to attribute of the decision.

Hi, hornsbyr!
Maybe the problem is that the variable you are using is not mapped.
You can map it like this.

  |
  | .
  | .
  | .
  |
  | .
  | .
  | .
  |
  |

Remember that AFAIK you must use the mapped name in the transition condition.
I hope this could be helpfull.

Hi, again Koen!
I would like to correct part of my previous post.
If I paste the source xml from processdefinition.xml and gpd.xml in a new
process definitions the nodes are not staying one over another. Just the other
way they are arranged exactly the way they are supposed to be.
What I missed before was pasting the source xml of gpd.xml in the new process
definition.
I use GPD 3.0.9 with jBPM 3.1.

Hi, Koen!
I first of all tried the second approach. The reason was that I have 7 business
processes. When I copy and paste the process definition source code and switch
to Diagram View all the nodes are one over another and even coping the gpd.xml
content doesn't help. Actually the problem is that I will have to rearange all
the nodes from scratch :( Do you know how this could be overcomed?
Trying the second approach let me to an error that said:
anonymous wrote : The currently displayed page contains invalid values.
when I click on Java Build Path submenu of project properties.
So it seems the first of your suggestions is tip of the day for me. Anyway if
you have any idea of how to evade the IDE error I will be appreciated.

Thanks, Saviola

[JBoss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Re: TaskAssignment works but findTaskInstances fails

2006-04-19 Thread Saviola
Hi aamonten!
Here you can read more about the warnign:
http://opensource.atlassian.com/projects/hibernate/browse/HHH-1367
http://forums.hibernate.org/viewtopic.php?t=941507&view=next&sid=bcc76fb6a152498bed5a05c6f0cb1d4f
I had read a documentation (I think it was Hibernate's) with a very simple
explanation of the issue but I can't find it at the moment. It was something
that Hibernate extends the objects while quering the database. and this breaks
the == operation.
Unfortunatelly I am not able to explain that in detail :(

Regards,
 Saviola

[JBoss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Re: Start Node with node-enter Action

2006-04-18 Thread Saviola
Hi, Luca!
The thing you are missing is that a start-node doesn't have a node-enter event.
Think about it - you don't enter a start-node, you just leave it. The same is
valid for an end-node - you never leave an end-node, tha't why it is called
end-node.

Reagrds,
Saviola

[JBoss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Re: Process designer crashes JDT?

2006-04-14 Thread Saviola
Hi, guys!
I have the very same problem described in the first post of this thread.
I use Eclipse 3.1.2, Build M20060118-160 and GPD 3.0.8.
The situation stays the same with GPD 3.0.7 and the same Eclipse version. If I
revert to Eclipse 3.1 no change at all :(
Where must the jBPM core libraries be situated? My last try was putting them in
directory $ECLIPSE_HOME$\Downloadable Features\eclipse\plugins - actually I
directly downloaded them there.
I hope this is missconfiguration of Eclipse because it worked when I first
installed GPD 3.0.8.
I would appreciate any help! Thanks in advance.

Saviola

P.S. In GPD 3.0.8.1 the version of the jBPM core libraries is jbpm-3.1-beta3.

I would suggest you try serializing your Activity first and then set the

contextInstance.setVariable(variableName, serializedValue)
I don't know if this is convinient approach to you but it worths trying it.

[JBoss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Re: Assign Task - 2 users

2006-04-06 Thread Saviola
Hi, again Shiraram!
Here what the jBPM documentation says about the sense of pooled actors:
anonymous wrote : To assign a TaskInstance to a pool of candidate actors, call
Assignable.setPooledActors(String[] actorIds).
According to what i've seen in the forum about this concept pooled actors are
the anonymous wrote : "future possible" actors who would have been performing
particular task or assigned to a particular swimlane instance.(Was that clear
enough :( ?) When it comes to the moment when the actual actor is clear it is
set through setActorId(String actorId) method.
I think that it is rather not possible to actually assign one task to more than
one actor simultaneously.
What do you think, jBPM team members?

 Saviola

[JBoss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Re: Bug in the deployment of membership making assignents to

2006-03-30 Thread Saviola
Hi, boerse!
I have the very same problem like you do.
In my opinion the problem resides in the method for parsing identity XML.
Here is the method implementation:

  |   private void readMemberships(List membershipElements) {
  | Iterator iter = membershipElements.iterator();
  | while (iter.hasNext()) {
  |   Element membershipElement = (Element) iter.next();
  |   String role = membershipElement.attributeValue("role");
  |   String userName = membershipElement.attributeValue("user");
  |   User user = (User) users.get(userName);
  |   if (user==null) throw new RuntimeException("unexisting membership
user '"+userName+"'");
  |   String groupName = membershipElement.attributeValue("group");
  |   Group group = (Group) groups.get(groupName);
  |   if (group==null) throw new RuntimeException("unexisting membership
group '"+groupName+"'");
  |
  |   Membership membership = new Membership();
  |   membership.setRole(role);
  |   group.addMembership(membership);
  |   user.addMembership(membership);
  |
  |   entities.add(membership);
  | }
  |   }
  |

As you can see the name of the membership is never addressed. That's why I
think it is not present in the database.
IMHO this should be considered a bug and JIRA issue must be raised.
However I would prefer waiting for the jBPM guys official blessing.
I would like to ask a question too (in case jBPM team reads this posting). What
is the meaning of the anonymous wrote : name attribute in the membership? Here
is what I've read from the docs:
anonymous wrote : member(role-name) gets the user that performs a given role
for a group. The previous terms must have resulted in a Group. This term
searches for the user with a membership to the group for which the name of the
membership matches the given role-name.
  |
This is part of the syntax for the anonymous wrote : next term element in
assignment expressions. What is the sense of actually mapping the name
attribute to the role value of the membership? Don't they overlap?

Saviola

P.S. I am using jBPM 3.1

Hi, qweniden!
For accessing the child tokens you can use one of:

processInstance.getRootToken().getActiveChildren()
  | processInstance.getRootToken().getChild(String childName)
  | processInstance.getRootToken().getChildren()
  | processInstance.getRootToken().getChildrenAtNode(Node aNode)

AFAIR the child name is formed like:
/transitionName1/transitionName2
and so on.
Where the left most anonymous wrote : / stands for the root token.
If it doesn't work try using nodeName (where the child token should be
residing) instead of transitionName since I am not absolutely sure about the
formation of the child token name.

Hope this helps!

[JBoss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Re: Decision node & expressions - this is not working

2006-03-27 Thread Saviola
Hi dhartford (How do you pronounce this name :()!
I would suggest you give more sensible mapped name to the variable you are
using in the condition expression and use this name instead.
Also try using contextInstance object for accessing the variable instead of
executionContext.

  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |decisionVariable == 'I'
  |
  |
  |decisionVariable == 'E'
  |
  |
  |
  |
contextInstance.getVariable("decisionVariable").toString().equalsIgnoreCase("C")
  |
  |
  |

By the way do you know that you can use variable to define which is the next
transition you want to take:

  |
  |

I suppose you have already set the variable like this for example:

  |
  | <variable name="Initiator" mapped-name="Bla"/>
  | <expression>
  | executionContext.setVariable("Bla", "alabalAportokala");
  |     </expression>
  |
  |

I hope this could be usefull.

Regards, Saviola

Hi, mennen!
As for the tasks that are not ended you can use the end-tasks property of the
task node. If you set it to anonymous wrote : true (the default is false)
before the task node is left all the pending task instances should be ended.

2006-02-28 Thread Saviola
I think you are quite right. There is something wrong with the second daypart
because when it comes to it things got messed.
But there is more than that. I've just created a task started at 2006-02-28
13:16:16.767 having duration of 7 business hours. And the end date was
correctly calculated i.e. 2006-03-01 11:16:00.000
After that I have another task that started at 2006-02-28 13:18:14.327 but to
my big surprise its end date was calculated to 2006-03-06 13:18:00.000 which is
far, far away from the truth :( So when it comes to the afternoon day part
something breaks. Unfotunatelly there is no any heuristic dependency between
the wrong calculations that can help for defining the problem.
I've been writing posts for the wrong calculations of the durations a long time
ago and as far as I remember the answer was that it would be fixed in the later
versions. I am not sure if there is a jirra issue about this though :(
Otherwise if the word business is omitted everything goes smooth.

[JBoss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Spelling mistake in jbpm.business.calendar.properties file.

2006-02-28 Thread Saviola
I am not sure if this could be considered some important issue but since I
mentioned it I will report it. There is spelling mistake in the
jbpm.business.calendar.properties in the days of week section: weekday.thuesday
must be weekday.tuesday.
One more question aside of this. Is the parsing of duration expressions like
anonymous wrote : 2 business days correct in jBPM 3.1? I think it's not working
properly and I will try to check what exactly the problem is.

Thanks in advance for any replies!

Hi, Ivanflorentin!
What I can say for sure is that if you use jBPM 3.1 Beta 3 or jBPM 3.1 Final
(I've tested with them only) you will definitelly need
hibernate.queries.hbm.xml because the named queries that JbpmContext uses for
its common methods like (get all process definitions for example) are defined
in this file.
You can see graphSession.findAllProcessDefinitions() method.

Hi, again Maplat!
It seems that the order of the mapping files in Hibernate.cfg.xml matters. When
I moved the  mapping
just after the identity mappings everything went well and I succeeded in
deploying.

Just as an additional INFO through one of my attempts I made a copy of
hibernate.queries.hbm.xml and put it in the class path. If the queries mapping
is at the mentioned position in hibernate.cfg.xml all was fine too, otherwise
it failed again.

Thank you very much for your time and for your fast replies! Have a nice day!

Hi, Luis.Moretto!
A few days ago I had the same problem. What I mentioned was that
resource.hibernate.quires.hbm.xml was mapped in the jbpm.cfg.xml file. In my
application I use different hibernate.properties file (not the one supplied
with hibernate). What I did to solve the problem was moving the above mapping

I hope this will help! It did to me though :)

[JBoss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Re: Why is the ID of ProcessInstance of type long?

2006-01-17 Thread Saviola
Got it :)
I'm sure others have asked themselves the question about whether long is
necessary too. It's good we tried to clarify it.

Just a final comment: sequence overflow in the db is not that frightening, it's
the uniqueness that limits us. So if you regularly delete old data, you can
still reuse ids. I'm sure you'll never run out of ids, even if they were ints,
because 4 billion records * 4 bytes each = 16GB, only for the ids. A lot more
than a 1GB tablespace. And now, since JBPM uses longs, you use twice as much
space for the ids (8 bytes each). Also, ints are better and faster on 32-bit
archs.

If I go for ints, I may try to somehow modify the hibernate mappings. But let's
leave this fruitless chat, anyway...

Good luck with deployment!

Cheers,
Saviola

Hi, Rainer!
I don't have specific problem with int. It was just a question of principle -
why is the long selected instead of int.
What are you using 5 000 000 sequence values per day? This makes 57 sequence
values per second.
Are these Process Instances only or inserts in the database.
What strategy for ID generation do you use?
What is the disk size of the computer where your database server is?
One more question at the end: Is this system in production where you have 5 000
000 sequence values or you are just testing?
I would like you to know that I am not argueing with you :) I just want to know
what the environment is :)

2006-01-17 Thread Saviola
Hello, jBPM-ers!
I probably have a strange question.
We are using jBPM for almost a year in my company. Maybe more than 10 times we
had asked each other one and the same question: Why is the ID of
ProcessInstance of type long but not of type int?
The maximum positive int number is 2147483647. And in my opinion this number is
quite enough to fit all the process instances needed.
Any way, no matter of my reasons I am still looking for an answer of this
question.
Thanks a lot to anyone (maybe from the jBPM team) who can give well-grounded
answer.

Saviola

[JBoss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Reference to subprocess definition in process state not set.

2005-12-14 Thread Saviola
Hi!
What I have is two process definitions - one main and another that I want to
use in a process state of the first one.
The main definition is:

  |
  | http://jbpm.org/3/jpdl";
  | xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance";
  | xsi:schemaLocation="http://jbpm.org/3/jpdl
http://jbpm.org/xsd/jpdl-3.0.xsd";
  | name="budgetPlanningProcess">
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
The subprocess definition is:

  |
  | http://jbpm.org/3/jpdl";
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance";
  | xsi:schemaLocation="http://jbpm.org/3/jpdl
http://jbpm.org/xsd/jpdl-3.0.xsd";
  | name="testProcess">
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
  |
First of all I deploy the subprocess definition, afterwards the main process
definition. Unfortunately the process state of the main process definition does
not have a reference to its subprocess set in the database (the
subprocessdefinition_ column in Jbpm_Node table is null).
The documentation suggests me to check the class
test/java/org/jbpm/graph/exe/ProcessStateTest.java for how to use subprocess.
I've tryed similar example like setting the subprocess of the process state
after deploying the main definition and it's fine.
But this actually doesn't work for me because I don't know the name of the
subprocess in order to fetch it from the database first.
According to me (and the documentation) the subprocess reference would have
been set automatically if the subprocess exists in the database.
Jbpm developers, please correct me if I am wrong. That would mainly clear the
situation.
Anyone having any experience with certain situation?
Appreciate any help!

Regards,
  Saviola

[JBoss-user] [JBoss jBPM] - Setting task instancedescription...

2005-11-30 Thread Saviola
Hello, everybody!
I have a question of principle about task instance description. Why isn't it
possible to set/get a description of a task instance?
As far as I know the only way to do so is to set a description of the task from
which the task instance "derives". But what happens if I want to set different
description of each task instance? Suppose you have a task instance that "says"
that a particular document must be signed and this document is different each
time a task instance is been created. The only workaround for this is first to
set description of the task itself and after taht to call for example:
taskInstance.setTask(task);
But if I want to show a task instance description to a user I cannot because
there is no such method like taskInstance.getDescription();.
Instead task.getDescription(); can be used. But again what happens if each task
instance has different description? The data is in the database but it cannot
be shown to the user :(
I am sorry if I was too talkative, as I said this was a question of principle.

Regards,
 Saviola
