[JBoss-user] [JBoss Portal] - Re: JBoss Portal 2.2.1RC3 with JBoss AS 4.0.4RC1

2006-04-23 Thread paulkossler
I too found the errors discussed in this thread.

I have J2SE_5.0 and J2EE_1.4 installed with JBoss 4.0.4RC1. I installed the
JBoss_Portal2.2RC1 and it failed.
I tested this on 4 different machines running windows with drastically
different setups and all have the same affect.

I cleared everything out and installed JBossPortal 2.2 and it worked.

The main error that occurs is not related to the mailer, nor the deployer. I
have traced one as far as the:
org.jboss.portal.theme.deployment.jboss.LayoutDeployment.addLayouts method
Which is attempting to load the tag library for the local contexts. It is the
only place that is attempting to load the file that is not in the logger. I
have not had the time ot debug this; however, it is quite unusual to me to see
this kind of resource loading for a tld. I would like to know the reasoning
for it out of curiousity. Until its fixed along with the other related errors
to this which seem to be path related I am afraid that the 2.2RC1 is not
release ready.

For now I will use JBoss Portal 2.2 which works fine on all configurations of
machines I have tried so far.
PentiumIII, Pentium4(several variants) AMD32 AMD64.

Good night and Good Luck

2006-04-22 Thread nick.hynes
Thanks Viper,

I can confirm that this works for those of us experiencing this problem on
4.0.3SP1 too.

Configuration:
XP Home Ed.
Oracle XE (10g rel 2)
Jboss 4.0.3SP1 (configuration 'all', otherwise default options)
JBoss Portal 2.2.1
Tomcat/console port: 8079

My XP install is pretty new, and my Java 1.5 SDK install is pretty sound too,
so this issue could be more widespread than we first thought.

I'd just like to say though, as someone who works for a company who pays
billions to effectively test the beta releases of a faceless multi-national,
this alpha is a very slick experience. Well done guys, and thanks again to
Viper for nutting-out this install problem. Great work!

I just had the same problem with 4.0.4RC2 and found a fix:

Open the xml-file
'JBOSS_HOME/server/default/deploy/jboss-portal.sar/META-INF/jboss-service.xml'
in an editor.

Search for ...
name=portal:service=TreeCache,type=transient

... and add the line ...
dependsjboss:service=TransactionManager/depends
... to the contents of the TreeCache mbean.

I don't know if you have used the installer as I have done, but I have read
somewhere that the installer COULD contain errors.

I have installed JBoss server from the .zip and used the 'all' configuration.

It seems better ( fixed some TransactionManager related warning ) but doesn't
work.

But if someone find the trick, I'm always very interested about it.

Regards,
Christophe

Yeah, I read about the problems with the installer, and tried it without.
I've had similar problems with three versions of JBoss, as well as the
bundled version of JBoss/Portal. So far, in two weeks, I've only managed, in
one instance, to get the Portal running - but then without the default login
accounts created. I've tried it with Oracle/MySql and the default Hypersonic.
No Joy. Very depressing as I've got a deadline in two weeks - that's go live
for a Highways call centre managing road space bookings in central England.
:-(((

If you cannot get portal to startup with the bundled distribution, there is
something VERY VERY wrong on your machine -- or you just dont have java
installed.

Another gets the transaction manager error, but the portal still runs OK.

Portal 2.4? The last version on the download page is 2.2.1RC3, so it's probably
a typo, but which version did you really use?

I have the same problem, even though I have the following files installed by
default:

default\lib\mail.jar
default\lib\mail-plugin.jar
default\lib\activation.jar
default\deploy\mail-service.xml

default\lib\bsh.jar
default\lib\bsh-deployer.jar
default\deploy\bsh-deployer.xml
default\deploy\ear-deployer.xml
default\deploy\ejb-deployer.xml

Is there anything else that need to be there, considering I've selected EJB3
install path for Jboss during installation?

Thanks.

But, I'm new in JBoss and I don't understand what you mean exactly.
Do you want me to copy additional file to the server/default/lib directory ?
where can I find those files please ?
