[JDEV] Yahoo transport make failures

2002-01-21 Thread Riyaad Miller

Hi ALL
I'm attempting to install the Yahoo transport on my Linux RH 7.2 server.
The configuration are as follows. Currently its running Jabber 1.4.1 with Conference
0.4.1.
I've installed MSN-transport 1.1 (though I'm not too sure if this is working 100%
quite yet). Thing is, the version of the Yahoo transport I'm trying to install is ver
0.8.2-1.4. I'm currently getting build problems. I run the ./configure with no hastles
but as soon as I get to running the make, I get the following error ...

excellent ...
My last message was right about that issue : proper standardization of the
protocol and rigorous specifications + documentations.

me too. In the standard jig ? or is there a doc-jig ?
I know there is a dev-doc list, too...

[JDEV] Jabber behind a firewall

2002-01-21 Thread MadCoder

So. I wants to install a Jabber server with ICQ/MSN/Y! transport support.

but my server is behind a HTTP proxy and a SOCKS5 proxy.
in the SOCKS5 proxy, only the ICQ port is open.

is there something I can do to socksify the jabber daemon threw the HTTP
proxy ?

I saw on www.jabber.org that there was a project called "jabber web" that
wanted to enable jabberd socksification. but there's nothing to download
:((

PS : the server is under Debian-woody

PPS : sorry for my poor english. I'm french.

RE: [JDEV] MSN Transport Problems

2002-01-21 Thread Ben Schumacher

Are you able to tell if you have successfully connected to the MSN server
through Jabber? What should happen in JIM is after you have registered
with the transport, it should show up on your roster, and if your
authentication credentials are correct, the lightbulb next to the
transport in your roster should be "on".

If you're seeing this, then log into the other MSN account and see if you
can get presence information from the MSN account you're using with
Jabber. (You should see the other account as "online".)

If this works correctly, messaging should be working fine.

However, there are several reasons this could fail. For example, if you
have a firewall between your Jabber server and the MSN server, it is
possible that it might be blocking the necessary socket connection that it
would need to authenticate.

If you provided more information on the environment you've set your Jabber
server up on, it might be easier to track down the problem you're
experiencing.

Cheers,

Ben

The howto on the jabber site
http://docs.jabber.org/no-sgml/howto-1.4.html

has all the information you need to get started. As for connecting usind

java please have a look at the jabber applet at
http://jabberapplet.sourceforge.net/

you might also find the jabber beans to be useful

http://jabberbeans.org

haven't seen DJ Adams book yet, but i am sure it's pretty good.

[JDEV] Handling long channel lists in IRC

2002-01-21 Thread migs paraz

Hi,
I'm trying out the JCF IRC transport under
development.

When I browse against an Undernet server, the jabberd
core size goes up to 50MB, and the Gabber I use for
testing crashes.

I guess it's not wise to do browse such servers?
I think that in native IRC clients, listing all
channels is discouraged anyway.

Or maybe we should have a protocol to get a list of
channels but not keep them in core - let the client
keep the list?

I hang out on both. The standards jig is seeing new life right now. The
doc JIG is mostly dormant... I'm assuming because we decided not to document
anything existing but instead wait for the next gen Jabber standards to
document. So I assume your best bet is to hang out on the standards jig
right now, and get ready to move to the docs jig when the standards get
settled...

[JDEV] General questions MSN and blackboard

2002-01-21 Thread German Pablo de la Cruz

Today I've four questions:

1- How the MSN transport interpret that I've blocked a user (like in the
MSN messenger) I see that when I send an unavailable to all users, all
MSN users are blocked, but when I send an unavailable to a particular
user nothing happened.

2- Somebody know something about managing blocked list in jabber (I see
something in the Disney client)

3- There is any protocol for a blackboard in jabber?? Where can I find
some info??

4- Voice over IP???

Thanks a lot to everybody
