The message refers to a Java runtime environment path (jre1.8.0_241). The
Java 8 runtime environment does not include the necessary tools for
development. You need the Java Development Kit (JDK).

See https://stackoverflow.com/questions/5730815/unable-to-locate-tools-jar for
more information.

Build error: Spotbugs not found

2020-03-21 Thread Alex Reds
Hi everyone,

I would like to contribute to the Jenkins open-source project but I got
stucked quite early.

When I try to build the project, I get this error:

Can you please help me?

I don't see an obvious error in what you're trying, though I see some areas
where it seems more complex than necessary.

For simplicity, try removing the refspec definition to see if that resolves
the issue. You might also try to remove the shallow clone to see if that
helps with the issue. You might also try using the branch name explicitly
rather than using ${env.BRANCH_NAME}.

Hi Mr. Mark Waite,

I'm getting a same kind of issue when I created a Checkout stage with
"refspec" and due to that my Pull request is failing, I cannot merge this
in to my master branch.

Below is my checkout stage code for your reference.

That's a very useful result. Thanks for discovering it. Would you be
willing to put a note into the git plugin wiki page describing what you saw
and how to resolve it?

We've had other surprises like that (credentials manager, for example), and
the wiki page has been a good place to put the information until the time
when the plugin finds a better way to prevent the problem or warn users
about the problem.

You might change into the workspace directory where the revision can't be
found and look at the output of `git branch -a` and `git log`. There may
be some hint about something missing from the fetch.

I'm not touching the Advanced section at all.

the branch name to be built)

I'm building the master branch. I've checked and double-checked the URL. As
I said, when I do the same exact thing on a different Jenkins server, it
works just fine.

Re: Getting "Couldn't find any revision to build" error with git checkout

2019-03-16 Thread Mark Waite
That indicates command line git could not fit any reference that matches
the branch name or SHA 1 it has been asked to build. Some possible causes
include:

   - Branch name has been requested that is not being fetched because the
   refspec in the "Advanced" section does not include the desired branch
   - Branch name to be built does not match any branch on the remote (typo
   in the branch name to be built)

Getting "Couldn't find any revision to build" error with git checkout

2019-03-16 Thread t3knoid
I have a new Jenkins server that has not used git for checking out. I tried
using a simple git checkout, just using a freestyle project. For some
reason I get a "Getting "Couldn't find any revision to build" whenever I
try to check out. Using an older server checks out the same repo just
fine...also using a new freestyle job.

Using the new server, I checked out something from github, and that worked
fine. The server I am using is internal. It is using Bitbucket. I don't
really think that should make a difference.

This issue is solved. Usage of incorrect syntax (marked in italics) was
causing Pipeline build errors.

node('master') {
  stage(' == Capitals == ') {
 configFileProvider([configFile(*fileId*:
'', variable: 'capitals_info')]) {
 echo " == content of json cfg == "
 sh "cat $capitals_info"
 }
  }
}

Dominik suggested he will make improvements to display a better error
message.
https://issues.jenkins-ci.org/browse/JENKINS-40973

Thanks Dominik for your help.

Jenkins Pipeline build error: Failed to prepare configFileProvider step

2017-01-08 Thread Ramanathan Muthaiah
Hello All,

Need help with pipeline build error in this setup:

Jenkins v2.36 with standard pipeline plugins + configFileProvider plugin

Here is the content of Jenkinsfile, pipeline script:

node('master') {
 stage(' == Capitals == ') {
   configFileProvider([configFile(field:
'capital_jsoncfg', variable: 'capitals_info')]) {
echo " == content of json cfg == "
sh "cat $capitals_info"
 }
   }
 }

And, the pipeline build fails with this error (followed by verbose output):

Searched this forum and stack overflow for possible clues but no successful
hits until now.

Does anyone know what's wrong with the pipeline script ?

P.S :

In the same setup of Jenkins master, I have a freestyle job configured to
use the same json cfg, in that job there are no such issues.
Simple shell command, like, cat-ing the contents of JSON cfg works in the
freestyle job.

git fetch --tags --progress
https://github.com/MarkEWaite/jenkins-bugs.git
+refs/heads/*:refs/remotes/origin/*

Notice the significant difference in the final argument to the command. I
believe that is the "refspec" which defines the references which should be
fetched from the remote repository to the local repository. That refspec
is usually set after clicking the "Advanced" button on the "Repositories"
section of the job configuration. You should probably not set a value for
that refspec, or if you set a value, you need to review carefully that the
value you set is correct for your repository.

I admit that I used git for multiple years before I ever used a custom
refspec. I use it more often now, but still need to refer to the online
help to assure I have the correct syntax.

I googled the error however could not find any satisfactory answer to
solve the issue.

Getting "Couldn't find any revision to build" error while using Jenkins with BitBucket repository

2017-01-06 Thread Saurabh Saxena
Hi All,

I am new to Jenkins and need your help with one of the error I am getting.

I have my local Jenkins setup with Tomcat, and have integrated it with
BitBucket (Open Source) repository. While executing the build process I am
getting the following error:

C:\Tools\PortableGit\git-bash.exe fetch --tags
https://ssaxena...@bitbucket.org/ssaxena007/sk-test.git
refs/remotes/origin/develop
Seen 0 remote branches*ERROR: Couldn't find any revision to build. Verify the
repository and branch configuration for this job.*Finished
: FAILURE

I googled the error however could not find any satisfactory answer to solve the
issue.

Below are the details of my environment:

OS - Windows 7
Jenkins Version - 2.32.1 - Deployed locally on my machine with Tomcat 7.x
SCM Used - A private BitBucket repository from BitBucket.org
JDK - 1.8
Maven - 3.3.9
Git Client Used - gitbash.exe

Following are some of the links which I tried with no luck.

https://issues.jenkins-ci.org/browse/JENKINS-20502
https://issues.jenkins-ci.org/browse/JENKINS-35340
https://github.com/janinko/ghprb/issues/347
https://github.com/timols/jenkins-gitlab-merge-request-builder-plugin/issues/88

Could you please have a look into the issue details and let me know if I am
doing anything wrong here.

Many thanks in advance for your suggestions

Best Regards,
-Saurabh

you can install below plugin and see where your memory is going..

https://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/Monitoring

then accordingly you can change your memory allocation.
There need to be a balance, you just cant keep on increasing heap size.

 You are running out of PermGen space!

 try adding something like:

 -Xmx1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m

 to the Maven Project Configuration on the Manage Jenkins > Configure
 System page

 Where:
 -Xmx give the maximum heap size, and
 -XX:MaxPermSize increases the size of the PermGen space

 You can look up and configure these as applicable for your environment

 You are running out of PermGen space!

 try adding something like:

 -Xmx1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m

 to the Maven Project Configuration on the Manage Jenkins > Configure
 System page

 Where:
 -Xmx give the maximum heap size, and
 -XX:MaxPermSize increases the size of the PermGen space

 You can look up and configure these as applicable for your environment

The amount of memory you have physically installed is completely different
than the amount of memory the java process is allowed to allocate & use.
Changing the settings as outlined below will give your java process more
memory to work with.

Re: Build ERROR

2012-12-06 Thread Jeff Williams
You are running out of PermGen space!

try adding something like:

-Xmx1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m

to the Maven Project Configuration on the Manage Jenkins > Configure System page

Where:
-Xmx give the maximum heap size, and
-XX:MaxPermSize increases the size of the PermGen space

You can look up and configure these as applicable for your environment

Jeff

2012-08-01 Thread Sami Tikka
There simply aren't enough details in this cry for help. At the moment no-one
can do anything more than feel sorry for you.

If you could try to share some more information, like the exact error message
or any other description of your problem. Usually it helps to also know details
of your environment, like operating system, how you installed jenkins and which
version of jenkins.

build error

2012-08-01 Thread Pankaj Pankaj
Hi
I am working on an open-source project *dhis2*, the source code is reside
on launchpad. before building the new version's war file in launchpad we
have to create account (if not registered) then add ssh rsa key then
checkout code through bazaar on local computer then build by maven. its
very weird to update the source code every time when new updates occur so i
decided to implement Jenkins.
but i am getting problem during build i did Google about my problem but it
was worthless
i am sending the Jenkins properties could you please have a look on that
where i am doing wrong!

Thank you
