[JOYnet] A Powerhouse of Protection

2002-11-17 Thread Sanad_Henry
Hi all,
Praise The Lord and Greetings in the Name of JesusHope u had
a very great weekend with ChristPray for me and the Jyouth groups at
H'badRead this message...fowarded
   A Powerhouse of Protection

"No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue
that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the
heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me,
saith the Lord."

  -- (Isaiah 54:17)

No weapon formed against you shall prosper. Isn't that great news! Isn't
it good to know that no sickness, no circumstance, no problem that rises
against you can successfully bring you down?

Some years ago, one of our friends was facing a lawsuit. He and I prayed
together according to this scripture and agreed it was the final word in
the situation, not the allegations against him. We stood in faith,
believing that lawsuit had to fail.

Sure enough, when my friend went to court, they just couldn't beat him.
He didn't win that case because of his keen and witty lawyers. He won
because he was innocent and because he had believed that powerful
promise of God.

Follow his example. When the devil attacks you in some area of your
life, don't sit around crying and begging God to save you. Open up your
Bible to Isaiah 54:17 instead. Remind yourself of what God has promised
you. Use that promise to strengthen you against sin and every other evil
work the devil would like to use to keep you bound.

Then establish yourself on it through prayer. Say, "Lord, I refuse to be
afraid of this weapon the devil has brought against me because I know
that according to Your Word, it cannot prosper. I trust You to protect
me, and I thank You for it now. In Jesus' Name. Amen."

Don't let the powerhouse of God's protection go to waste. Put it to work
in your life. It is your rightful heritage as a servant of the Lord.

With Prayers,
Sanath Henry (Kollam)

Re: [JOYnet] Vasthu shastra - My experience

2002-11-17 Thread greg dsilva
Dear Jy's,
Adding a few lines to what Mr. Lonth and Mr.Ravi have
said.
I work for a Pharmaceutical concern and my MD a few
years back decided to put up a sister concern in the
neighbourhood.
The plot was bought and the preparations started by
having the first Pooja as per Vasthu Shastra. The
project was completed and today the products (for
which this unit is solely constructed)
do not have any sale in the market.
As on today the unit is surviving by manufacturing
medicines of other companies.
In short what I have followed is that Vasthu Shastra
is believed by Hindus only for prosperity
With prayerful wishes,
Greg

[JOYnet] TODAY`S SAINT....

2002-11-17 Thread suma thomas
November 17, 2002
St. Elizabeth of Hungary
widow(1207-1231)

In her short life Elizabeth manifested such great love for the poor and suffering that
she has become the patroness of Catholic charities and of the Secular Franciscan
Order. The daughter of the King of Hungary, Elizabeth chose a life of penance and
asceticism when a life of leisure and luxury could easily have been hers. This choice
endeared her in the hearts of the common people throughout Europe.
LIFE:
Elizabeth was the daughter of King Andrew II of Hungary & the niece of
St.Hedwig.At the age of 14 Elizabeth was married to Louis of Thuringia (a German
principality), whom she deeply loved; she bore three children. Under the spiritual
direction of a Franciscan friar, she led a life of prayer, sacrifice and service to
the poor and sick. Seeking to become one with the poor, she wore simple clothing.
Daily she would take bread to hundreds of the poorest in the land, who came to her
gate.
After six years of marriage, her husband died in the Crusades, and she was
grief-stricken. Her husband's family looked upon her as squandering the royal purse,
and mistreated her, finally throwing her out of the palace. The return of her
husband's allies from the Crusades resulted in her being reinstated, since her son was
legal heir to the throne.
In 1228 Elizabeth joined the Secular Franciscan Order, spending the remaining few
years of her life caring for the poor in a hospital which she founded in honor of St.
Francis. Our Lord and our Lady favoured her with repeated
apparations..Miracles of spiritual &bodily healing began to be attributed to
her prayers.. Elizabeth's health declined, and she died on November 17 ,1231. Her
great popularity resulted in her canonization four years later.

Comment:
Elizabeth understood well the lesson Jesus taught when he washed his disciples' feet
at the Last Supper: The Christian must be one who serves the humblest needs of others,
even if one serves from an exalted position. Of royal blood, Elizabeth could have
lorded it over her subjects. Yet she served them with such a loving heart that her
brief life won for her a special place in the hearts of many. Elizabeth is also an
example to us in her following the guidance of a spiritual director. Growth in the
spiritual life is a difficult process. We can play games very easily if we don't have
someone to challenge us or to share experiences so as to help us avoid pitfalls.

REFLECTION:

Before her death I heard her confession. When I asked what should be done about her
goods and possessions, she replied that anything which seemed to be hers belonged to
the poor. She asked me to distribute everything except one worn-out dress in which she
wished to be buried. When all this had been decided, she received the body of our
Lord. Afterward, until vespers, she spoke often of the holiest things she had heard in
sermons. Then, she devoutly commended to God all who were sitting near her, and as if
falling into a gentle sleep, she died. (Cornard of Marburg, her spiritual
director..)

[JOYnet] SAINT OF THE DAY....Nov..16TH

2002-11-17 Thread suma thomas
November 16, 2002
St. Margaret of Scotland
Queen(1046-1093)

Margaret of Scotland was a truly liberated woman in the sense that she was free to be
herself. For her, that meant freedom to love God and serve others.
LIFE:
Granddaughter of King Edmund Ironside of England. Great-niece of Saint Stephen of
Hungary. Born in Hungary while her family was in exile due to the Danish invasion of
England, she still spent much of her youth in the British Isles. While fleeing the
invading army of William the Conqueror in 1066, her family's ship wrecked on the
Scottish coast. They were assisted by King Malcolm III Canmore of Scotland, whom
Margaret married in 1070. They had 8 children, one of whom as Saint Maud, wife of
Henry I. .
Malcolm was good-hearted, but rough and uncultured, as was his country. Because of
Malcolm's love for Margaret, she was able to soften his temper, polish his manners and
help him become a virtuous king. He left all domestic affairs to her and often
consulted her in state matters.
Margaret tried to improve her adopted country by promoting the arts and education. For
religious reform, she instigated synods and was present for the discussions which
tried to correct religious abuses common among priests and people, such as simony,
usury and incestuous marriages. With her husband, she founded several churches.
Margaret was not only a queen, but a mother. She and Malcolm had six sons and two
daughters. Margaret personally supervised their religious instruction and their other
studies.
Although she was very much caught up in the affairs of the household and country, she
remained detached from the world. Her private life was austere. She had certain times
for prayer and reading Scripture. She ate sparingly and slept little in order to have
time for devotions. She and Malcolm kept two Lents, one before Easter and one before
Christmas. During these times she always rose at midnight for Mass. On the way home
she would wash the feet of six poor persons and give them alms. She was always
surrounded by beggars in public and never refused them. It is recorded that she never
sat down to eat without first feeding nine orphans and 24 adults.
In 1093, King William Rufus made a surprise attack on Alnwick castle. King Malcolm and
his oldest son, Edward, were killed. Margaret, already on her deathbed, died four days
after her husband.

THOUGHT:

There are two ways to be charitable: the "clean way" and the "messy way." The "clean
way" is to give money or clothing to organizations that serve the poor. The "messy
way" is dirtying your own hands in personal service to the poor. Margaret's
outstanding virtue was her love of the poor. Although very generous with material
gifts, Margaret also visited the sick and nursed them with her own hands. She and her
husband served orphans and the poor on their knees during Advent and Lent. Like
Christ, she was charitable the "messy way."

[JOYnet] World Media Day - Nov 17

2002-11-17 Thread Sajith Antony
Dear Friends in Jesus Christ,

Today November 17 is declared as the media day by the
catholic church. In his mesage to the world the holy
father says as follows:

The Internet causes billions of images to appear
on millions of computer monitors around the planet.
>From this galaxy of sight and sound will the face of
Christ emerge and the voice of Christ be heard? For it
is only when his face is seen and his voice heard that
the world will know the glad tidings of our
redemption. This is the purpose of evangelization. And
this is what will make the Internet a genuinely human
space, for if there is no room for Christ, there is no
room for man. Therefore, on this World Communications
Day, I dare to summon the whole Church bravely to
cross this new threshold, to put out into the deep of
the Net, so that now as in the past the great
engagement of the Gospel and culture may show to the
world "the glory of God on the face of Christ" (2 Cor
4:6).

This is a challenge to each and every one of us, who
is using the features of internet and the other latest
media technologies. But the influence of evil in this
field is much beyond our expectations. So friends why
don't we discuss about 'evangelization' through
internet. Yes we have a joynet. Readers please pray
for this intention and rush your views.

Thanks and May God Bless you

[JOYnet] Vaasthu shastra or God the loving Provider -Make a choice.

2002-11-17 Thread Ravi Vaz
Hi Joynetters,
Firstly a Big Thank you to Lonth Uncle for sharing his own experience in a simple yet
clear manner.
A few Points I would like to add here for all those who say Vaastu is only a science
and thus can be accepted.
Firstly we are not against Vaastu Shastra because it is Hindu Tradition, that would be
wrong on our part to do so. We also reject Feng shui which is Chinese in origin but
similiar in concept.
We are against Vaastu or Feng shui because it is against Christian Teaching and
Belief.
Let me explain,
The proponents and experts of Vaastu say that your gate should be in this direction,
your altar should be in this direction ,you should sleep in such and such direction
etc. There maybe some scientific wisdom in it no doubt, but what is the end result for
which we are asked to do the same.
To Gain Happiness, Prosperity in life and for our family members.
As Christians we Know for a fact that it is God our Jehovah-Jireh " The Provider" who
supplies all our needs and gives us this happiness and prosperity because he loves us
If what Vaastu says is True then I Think the world doesnt need God at all.
If I have a 100% Vaastu house does it mean that i will live in prosperity for ever? Am
I Saved? I dont know.
But One Thing I do Know is that the Vaastu consultant will surely have a prosperous
life from then on ,for all the money he will charge me for the same.
It is very easy as we have seen, to turn this argument from a Good versus Bad
discussion, to a science versus faith Discussion.
There are many things in this world which go in the guise of Science.
Even Occult and Black magic is considered Science " Kali Vidya" it is called.
Even Practices like Abortion are scientific in nature.
Does it mean we have to accept them.? Just because they are science.
True science is one which realises that it doesnt have a definitive answer for all
questions, what it can give us are theories and suggestions based on what is observed.
Faith comes to our rescue when science stops. Faith is not opposed to reason it
extends beyond reason.
human Reasoning is finite and Has an end. faith is a Gift from God who is eternal and
has no end.
Let us Realise That when we practice or Propogate Vaastu, Feng-shui and anyother such
practices we are challenging the Power and Prominence of God in our lives. Then we
cannot call our selves christians. Because Christ will not be at the center of our
family Home but at the North east corner of it.( As per vaastu, Family altars should
be in the Northeast corner of the house).
Love and Prayers

 Joseph lonth <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:>My Dear JYs
We had a very long and highly informative discussion (sometimes breaking
into personal collision) in Vastu Shastra.

Simply it means when you construct a building especially residential house
two things are important - light and air. Looking at the layout of the land
and the direction experts can help the house have ample light and good air
circulation both of which make healthy living condition. This has nothing
to do with religious faith or superstition. But the people consulted or who
consider themselves experts add many things to these simple needs and make
it appear complex and extra-mundane.

When I needed a house there was one available for sale. Although it was
not ideally spacious to my liking after praying and discerning I decided to
purchase it. There was a medium sized cross across the road and people
started saying a house rising above a cross is a dangerous place to live.
Secondly a house very close to a place of worship is not good for living.
Probably this has prompted the owner to sell it. However, I considered the
above things a blessing and bought it.

After completing the remaining works it was blessed and after the
housewarming a very close relative observed that the main gate is on the
south and the regular gate on the west and the house facing the west was
bad as per Vasthu and therefore hinder prosperity. I just told him that
when God created He marked the directions but never attach any special
importance or bad effects to any one of them.

Four years have passed.

In the meanwhile my son came out 19th rank in the Kerala medical entrance
exam of 2001 and got admission to MBBS in Govt Medical College Trivandrum
(among seven other entrance offers).
I have purchased a Volks Wagon Passat for nearly Rs8.5 lakh and rubber
plantation for Rs45 lakh.

I have always tried to live as per the instructions of the Lord as narrated
in the promises of Deuteronomy 28: 1-14. That's my strength and my secret.
All other things are false beliefs and cannot deliver the goods.
God bless you
With love and prayers

[JOYnet] ARISE, SHINE OUT!

2002-11-17 Thread Josh Folks
Hello All!

In two weeks time UAE will be celebrating its national day and as usual we
JYs in UAE will be gathering together to celebrate one more active year in
this part of the world.
We have named the conference “ARISE SHINE OUT” (Isaiah 60:1). IT will be at
Jebal Ali St. Francis Assisi church. We are foreseeing a gathering of 900
JYs for the day. The main planning meetings are through and we have the flow
of the programs ready by the grace of God.

>From your part I request for the said conference, prayer support. Please do
pray for the program so that it will have some lasting effect on the JYs of
UAE, who will REALISE (Part 1 and 2) where they are and recognise the need
to ARISE and SHINE OUT (Part 3) to the CRY OF THE PEOPLE (Part 4) around
them and to have faith in the Lord who is really building up a WORLD OF HOPE
(Part 5) around us.

Take care and God bless
Abraham, Fujairah, UAE.
