Dear Thankful Netters, After reading Biju's mail and the hearing about the situation in many of the Gulf countries preparing for war and the plight of common men..I feel all of us together need to keep the whole day 2morrow as a prayer day - if possible we can FAST(if not the whole day - atleast skip a meal),which will make our prayers more powerful. More than 1100+ people from joynet waiting on the lord with this intention ,it will be very POWERFUL.. Also we could ask atleast 3(minimum) more people to join us with this intention ,besides asking priests to remember this intention in their mass(I'm sure most of them are already doing it).. [JOYnet] Forgiveness & Max Candy
Dear friends, On 3rd February I could attend a lecture on the Christian Virtue of forgiveness. The meeting took place in the Diocesan community center in Delhi. The speakers were Mrs. Gladys Staines and Sr. Selmi Paul FCC, the sister of Late Sr. Rani Maria who was killed in Madhya Pradesh 3 years ago (if I am not mistaken) and Fr. Sachidanand. When I left for the Lecture I told my room mate (my first cousin) to prepare the food because I knew I will be late. Well, after Lecture I came back to my room and there was no food. My cousin just walked off when I entered the room. I was shocked to see the condition of my room. A heap of clothes lying in his bed. My Mobile Kitchen (the table in which I have installed my stove and other things) was full of plates, wastes of vegetables and rice - A very good oppourtunity for forgiveness right after I heard the Lecture of Forgiveness (LAUGHS). I lost my control yaaar. Well as Mrs. Stains put it; forgiveness is a decision not an emotion, I decided to forgive. First I got my food prepared and ate it. And with real pushing & pulling in my heart I started to fold the clothes neatly and put it on the appropriate place. Well after I cleaned the bed there was a Max Candy (strawberry flavour) in the bed. [JOYnet] A testimony from Our Chicago prayer group
Hello Family, A few weeks back the topic for teaching in our adult prayer group in Chicago was Tithing. After the session by a brother ,many people told that it was for the first time they heard that Bible teaches us to do so Any way it seems that many people started to do it right away ,because we got phone calls how to do it, to whom to give etc...and many started a separate AC to set apart the tithe money. Last week one girl gave this testimony.her family is not very rich,they all have small jobs in Chicago. After the session , she and her mom (only 2 of 'em attend the prayer group)decided to calculate their tithe money and send it to the needy. They knew the condition at home is very bad. Since their father had allergy and could not work any more in the ussual shift and position he was working; due to His allergy.All his pleas for a change was not granted and he decided to quit the job. So the whole house hold has to depend on the meagre income of these 2 ladies. They knew that the father won't allow them to do this (tithing)now,but they thought they will do it without him knowing about it and they did it that weekend itself. After a few days , the father got a call from the office saying that they 're going to change his position and shift to suit his medical requirements! and to his surprise when he received his pay check that week ,he got a raise in his salary for the first time in 2 1/2 years...!!! Then the mom and the daughter told him the whole story..and he was surprised. He told" umm,,`,now 2 of you're not going to give the tithe ,but from now onwards its three of us who is going to give our tithe regularly! Praise the Lord. One prayer group member told after hearing input on tithing that , you who earn a lot can afford to give but for us its all about matter of living...and we don;t have enough to give,,," after this testimoney ,now nobody seems to have any excuse. I think what ever we have is god's gift and all of that belong to God and we're only care takers.We should not b e giving thinking that we may receive some thing in return. Mother Theresa used to say "Love love until it pains" And our motto regarding tithing should be "give give until nothing is left'...hard but possible with the help of Holy spirit.Its good to start with tithing. [JOYnet] Monthly prayerday - we are in the shadow of war
Monthly Prayer The theme for our monthly prayer, world peace is a very apt theme in this current situation. Here in Kuwait, we are in the shadow of war. Now everybody is worried about the present situation and talking about war only. Many people are mentally disturbed and anxious about the future. The parents are worried about their small children. Also the final exams are on the way and still the students do not know weather they could write the exams in Kuwait or not. 10th and 12th Std. students are facing more problems because they have to write the Board Exams and the school authorities yet could not fix the exam center in Kuwait. In Kuwait the preparations for an emergency is going on. Medical awareness camps are conducting several places to train the public to face an emergency of chemical or biological attack. People are reserving food and water and Govt. is planning to provide ration cards to all including expatriates. Gas masks and other protective equipments are going to be distributed to the people who are working in dangerous locations. I am also listed in the emergency staff since I am working in a power plant very near to Iraq. Annual leave is suspended for the staff working in emergency departments such as Health Dept. In total the situation is going to be worse in the coming days. So I am listing some prayer subjects for the monthly prayer. 1. Pray for all countries and peoples thoseare in the shadow of war. 2. Pray for Middle East counties especially for Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Syria those are located in the expected war area. 3. Pray for world leaders to take good decisions in this crisis to avoid a war. 4. Pray for the world to be filled with the Holy Spirit. 5. Pray for the pregnant women, infants and children to be protected during an emergency. 6. Pray for the students who write exams this area. 7. Pray for all to get mental courage and to get a deep awareness that Lord Jesus will protect everybody in any situation and Lord has a very good plan for each and every one. Tomorrow (Feb.6) night some of the Jesus Youth friends in Kuwait are planning to pray through out the night from 10 pm to 5 am so that we could be part of our monthly Joynet prayer. How such mails can fill the Inboxes? When The text mails are normally of size less than 50 k. [JOYnet] Abba Father's love for me -- 'His precious child!
Dear Joynetters, I am sorry that I couldn't be in Joynet for quite sometime due to various reasons. I would like to narrate to you one of the incidents that happened to me last week which showed me of the great love that 'Abba Father' has for me--'His precious child'! (Isiah 43/4) We have been married for the past 8 years and settled in Kochi. We celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary on the 15th January. I just had a feeling that John is not loving me as he used to before. But I felt contended thinking that even if John loves me less, Abba Father loves me the most. So why should I be sad? But the incident that took place last week showed that Abba Father's love for me is expressed through all the people around me and John's actions revealed that he loves me very much. Praise God! My brother's marriage was fixed in Mumbai all of a sudden. And so, John booked a ticket for 30th January by Kanyakumari-Mumbai express(second class) leaving from Ernakulam(south) station at 12.15p.m.(afternoon) for the engagement which would be on February 2nd at Pune. Since I have backache problems, I was a bit upset as to how I would travel two nights that also alone by second class. On 30th January morning there was a call from Mumbai saying that the engagement may be postponed due to unavoidable reasons and that I better cancel the ticket. Actually my bags were packed and I was supposed to leave for the station within two hours. I became so sad and started unpacking my bags. John went to the station and cancelled the ticket immediately,otherwise we would lose the whole amount. In the evening at 4.30 p.m. there was again a call from Mumbai saying that the engagement would be on the same date i.e. February 2nd and I should rush immediately. I was shocked and very sad since my ticket was already cancelled and there was no other way. Flight ticked was unaffordable. I called up John and told him everything. I asked my cell members to pray for me because I have only one brother and it was the last marriage in the family. And I would be the only family member who would be missing it. I started praying,' Lord, if it is your will help me to get a ticket'. My son Isaac also promised that he would pray for me. Within ten minutes he fell off to sleep since he was tired after coming from school. A little later, John called me and told that in the internet he found out that Rajdhani express(Trivandrum-New Delhi) had 3 tickets and he was going to the station to get one. For the ticket fee of Rs.1800/- he had to borrow from his friends. John got the ticket at 5p.m. . and the the reservation for that train closed at 5.15 p.m. because the train was leaving Trivandrum at 7.15p.m.I took the train from Ernakulam on 30th January( the very same day) and reached Mumbai the next day at 8.30p.m. The travelling was very comfortable (excutive style) with high speed, AC coach and I was provided with Bisleri, Newspaper, tea or coffee, pepsi, chocolates, ice-cream, breakfast, soup, lunch and dinner served in Air-flight style and I reached my destination 8 hours earlier spending just one night in the train. Praise the Lord. (Romans 8/28) Thankyou Abba Father! Jehovah Jireh is my provider, His grace is sufficient for me. I could give Jesus to my co-passenger in the to and fro journey. I am writing this today after reaching Kochi today at 3.30p.m. by Netravati Express. My brother's marriage is on the 22nd February. I, John, and Isaac will be going for the marriage. Please pray for my brother, Joseph and the proposed girl, Sincy ; for the auspicious occasion and for our safe journey to and fro. God Bless! Send them to amusement parks, sporting events,plays, concerts, and movies instead. Keep them busy, busy, busy!" The demons went eagerly to their assignments causing Christians everywhere to get busier and more rushed, going here and there. Having little time for their God or their families. Having no time to tell others the power of Jesus to change lives. I guess the question is, has the devil been successful at his scheme? You be the judge! Does "busy" mean: B-eing U-nder S-atan's Y-oke? Please pass this on, if you aren't too BUSY! Spend time with Jesus even in your busiest. For sure, He'll not fail you. Making a Prayer Day Special - Adding meaning to the term "Joynet Monthly Prayer Day" How do you make a Prayer Day SpecialSimple by having a Prayerful Heart and more specially by actually Remembering it. It is nice to have uniformity of Prayer where the Joynetters all over the world take time out at a particular time and Pray. But i do feel that there are many who no matter how much they try are not able to commit to that particular time. Hence I do feel that it is better to keep Joynet Monthly Prayer Day for the full day rather than restricting it to only 1 hour or so. Topic of Prayer Day : Some suggested "World Peace". Sounds wonderful. But I prefer also dedicating it to all the Prayer Requests posted on Joynet & Prayernet every month. Sure Some of thier purpose may have seemed over, some of them answered. But there are still others which the Lord has to still work in, we may never know. Wouldnt it be nice to dedicate this day where we can lift up all these Prayer Requests together especially since most of them seem to be from our own fellow Joynetters. We can specially attended Mass(es) on the Prayer Day in our respective Churches in Order that the Lord may hear all our Prayers in unision for those Prayer Requests. I am sure that there will be testimonies to follow. If I am not asking more you can also request your Parish Priest or your Prayer Group to offer a General Intention for all the Prayers requested here on Joynet and Prayernet for the month. I know of one Joynetter here who sometimes takes out Printouts of the Prayer Requests and gives it to her Prayer Group as well as her Priest Friend that they may be prayed over. Isnt such dedication wonderful. Prayers : It would be wonderful if there was some uniformity of prayers said. However those who wish can offer the Rosary or the Divine Mercy or any Prayers of their own alongwith fasting can please do so. But do keep some time for a personal interaction with the Lord talking to him and telling him how much it means to you that these Prayers dedicated by you and Joynet are heard. This brings about sincerity and a reflection from the Heart rather than making it something routine. After that do spend some time in reflection as well. And lastly something innovative :) Praying Online: I have seen some online Prayer Groups doing this. I know of many Joynetters who havent met yet correspond through each other via mails or through Messenger. To those Joynetters who do remain online on Messengers with each other. If they can spend atleast 5 minutes in Praying together on their IMs it would really add a wonderful touch to the Prayer day. Anyways these are just my views.
