[JOYnet] Christmas on train !!

2001-12-22 Thread George, Vijy

Dear all

As it was the Asian Youth Conference in Kerala on 27th of December last
year we, 100 odd members from Gujarat boarded on train on the Christmas
day. Christmas on train!!!... some of us couldn't absorb it first.

Preparation for the train Christmas was started well a head. We prepared
food for all for two day journey .Some of our guys (me too)first in our
life experienced how the delicious chapathis are prepared and found out it
is not that easy to make it .

The real fun was when we started our journey .We wanted all of us to sit
together .Some how after two three hours of effort we almost able to make
our seats nearby . Then came the real event... all of us went through out
the train to wish Merry Christmas to our co-passengers . The 100 odd youth
with smiling face and Christmas songs in their lips were treated well by
their co-passengers.

Christmas cakes were distributed to around 1000 passengers .After 3 hours
when we reached the last compartment the cakes were almost finished... but
the members in the group were well satisfied with the bits of Cake remained
in the tray and found out as their most delicious Christmas cake ever had
in their life!!

Merry Christmas to all my dear ones

RE: [JOYnet] My real identity!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2001-11-28 Thread George, Vijy

Dear all and Biji
This is form an equally disturbed person ...my name is Viji, Biji its a
matter of one letter, we are same.
Even though I didn't recd any Joynet mails enquiring about my identity,I
have something interesting to share .I had an Email friend. He used to write
me letters thinking I'm a girl and I also didn't revealed my identity for a
long time .But accidentally once it was revealed and my friend disappeared
for ever

One more incident... when I entered into my pre-degree class there was a
person to welcome me ...a girl called Biji, when ever the teacher calls my
name , I can hear a giggling sound from the girls bench...this made me
furious and my struggle(freedom struggle) to change my name reached its
height .As a result there was a long debate in my house regarding my name
and one of my uncle came up with a new meaning(only meaning) to my name .He
said if you split your name that is Vi - ji , Vi stands for Vihayas(sky)
and ji stands for Jigneshu(person who seeks knowledge). So he declared the
meaning of my name as person who seeks knowledge even beyond the sky. So I
tried to console my self thinking this and whenever my parents shouted at
me for not studying well I put my name as a shield .

Subject: [JOYnet] My real identity!

Dear all beloved of Jesus,

I am getting lot of mails starting with something like
this "At the outset it self i would like to clarify
something, r u a guy or a gal? i've heard both
versions of u in joynet
(some
say she others he!!) Whats u're gender dear?".( due
apologies to the sender of this mail).

I am afraid as to what kind of image will all
Joynetter friends will be having about me. Those who
know me well will be thinking after reading all this
kind of mails whether I have undergone a "sex change".

I am very happy that atleast my name is exciting the
curiosity and raising the eyebrows of eligible and
non-eligible bachelors of Joynet.

I won't be surprised even if I get mails asking me for
a date.

But Sorry Guys!!

I am a guy. Fortunately or unfortunately, my parents
gave me the name Biji, which is mostly used for naming
gals in Kerala, without my knowledge. I thought of
changing my name several times but the fear of going
through the elaborate procedure of following Indian
government system for changing my name in all of my
certificates motivated me not to go ahead with this.

So, by God's grace I am happy with my name "Biji"

For any further clarification or doubt clearance in
this regard you can contact me directly through e-mail
to me.

Your' loving (brother),
With love and prayers,
Biji James

[JOYnet] HOW IS YOUR STRESS FITNESS?

2001-10-10 Thread George, Vijy

Dear all

Some good stuffs I came across
hope it's use full for you also
love
Viji

_

HOW IS YOUR STRESS FITNESS?

Some people just seem to handle stress better than others.
Certain life habits can prepare you well for stress: they give
you a kind of cushion for the hard knocks of life. Stress fitness
helps increase your ability to better deal with it.

  * Do you follow an exercise program each week? This can undo
some of the damage stress does to your system, lowering blood
pressure and strengthening your cardiovascular system.

  * Find an exercise activity you enjoy. Commit to it.
Schedule it three times a week for at least a half-hour.
See your doctor before starting.

  * Plan for year-round activity. Don't let the too hot or
too cold seasons keep you from activity; if you miss a
day, don't fret.

  * Are you eating nutritionally balanced and healthful meals? If
you put good stuff into your body, your body will put out a
good effort for you, particularly in times of stress.

  * Enjoy food in moderation.

  * See your doctor for an appropriate diet plan. Avoid fad
diets and the hype surrounding certain foods.

  * It is easy to depend on nicotine, alcohol, and caffeine
in stressful times - none of which are healthful to your
body.

  * Do you take regular breaks during the day in order to relax?
You will be more productive over the long haul.

  * When you take a break, really relax. Don't talk business.

  * Remember the Sabbath and keep it free from errands or
work activities.

  * Don't eat lunch at your desk get away from the work
environment - if even for a short period.

  * Remember solitude. You need time to hang out with friends
but you also need time alone. Turn off pagers and cell
phones.

  * Are you able to assert your feelings in appropriate ways?

  * Commit to honest, accurate communication.

  * Couch your criticism in praise.

  * Speak the truth in love.

  * Do you place a high value on your primary relationship(s),
and set aside time to work on improving it (them)? Supportive
spouse, children, or parents can cushion the blows of life,
empower you to face your daily challenges, and undergird you
with a sense of security and significance.

  * Don't take your relationships for granted; make them a
priority.

  * Have fun. The best relationships are those with laughter,
with people who can have fun together.

  * Read together. Pray together. Talk together.

  * Be a servant; seek the well-being of the other.

  * Do you have work or a hobby that gives you a sense of meaning
and purpose?

  * Learn what you can do. Take an aptitude test as well as a
spiritual gifts test.

  * Look for meaning on the job. What parts of your job have
importance - to you or someone else?

  * Volunteer; help someone else.

  * Connect with others. Don't spend all your time alone with
your hobby.

  * Do you have a strong faith? Stress comes when you sense you
are not in control. There is comfort, though, in knowing that
God is always in control.

  * Set aside a regular time for prayer or meditation.

  * Request, but also rest. Listen to God. Take time just to
be with Him.

  * Breathe your prayers. As you go throughout the day, take
your prayers with you.

  * Pray with others. You can build great relationships by
joining others in brief times of prayer.

[JOYnet] The $20.00 Bill

2001-09-05 Thread George, Vijy

A well-known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20 bill. In
the room of 200, he asked, who would like this $20 bill?Hands started going
up.

He said, I am going to give this to one of you, but first, let me do this.
He proceeded to crumple the bill up.

He then asked, who still wants it?

Still the hands were up in the air.

Well, he replied what if I do this?

He dropped it on the ground, and started to grind it into the floor with his
shoe.

He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty.

Now, who still wants it?

Still hands went into the air.

My friends, you all have learned a very valuable lesson.

No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it, because, it did not
decrease in value. It was still worth 20 dollars. Many times in our lives,
we are dropped, crumpled and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make
and the circumstances that come our way. We feel that we are worthless,
but, no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose
your value, dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still
priceless to those who love you. The worth of our lives comes not in what we
do, or whom we know, but by who we are. You are special, don't ever forget
it!

Pass this on to those you care about. You will never know the lives it
touches, the hurting hearts it speaks to, or the hope that it can bring.
Always count your blessings, not your problems.

[JOYnet] Baptist church?

2001-08-23 Thread George, Vijy

Dear all,
This is the comments and directions of one my friends on my view of church .
It will be good if some can say something on it
love
viji

..

BAPTIST. A name for various groups of Christians who profess that the Bible
is the only standard of faith and practice, who hold to Baptist
distinctives, and who trace their heritage, not to the Protestant
Reformation, but to Jesus Christ and the apostolic churches.
A Baptist Church has been defined as follows:
"A Baptist Church is an organization composed of baptized believers. That
organization is complete in itself. It recognizes Christ as its head. `He is
the head of the body, the church.' He only has legislative authority over
it. The laws of Christ, as recorded in the New Testament and administered by
a majority of its members, constitute the only ecclesiastic authority known
to the church. In the administration of those, the weakest, poorest member
has a right to be heard, and the richest member has no right to ask for
more. Hence the church in its relation to Christ is a perfect monarchy. His
will is law. In the relation of the members to each other, it is a perfect
democracy--`One is your master, even Christ, and all ye are brethren.' It
is, then, an organization, and separate, distinct from all others. Its right
to be in the world and prosecute its mission is original and divine. It asks
no aid of the civil arm or purse. All it asks of the State and all other
organizations, as such, is to be let alone, and let it live, if it can, and
die if it must.
"BUT ITS MISSION. This, in common with all other evangelical Christians, is
to evangelize the world. [See Missions.] We also believe the Baptist church
has a special mission, which is to preserve the purity of the church, which
task involves:
"A REGENERATE MEMBERSHIP. Would our limits permit, it might be interesting
to take a voyage up the stream of ecclesiastical history, to its source, and
see of what the primitive church was composed, and examine the simplicity of
its organization, and then trace the gradual departure from that simplicity,
to mark the process which brought unregenerate members into the church, and
then trace the consequences. But we hardly have time to say that as it has
been in the past, so it must be in the future, part of the mission of the
Baptist Church is to keep her doors closed against all such as do not give
evidence of piety. ... while we are to receive those of weakest faith, if it
be genuine, yet we are to stand by the old doctrines, that no hereditary
religion, no amount of wealth, no social position, no standard of morality
can form a passport into the Baptist church without evidence that the
applicant knows something practically of what repentance towards God and
faith in our Lord Jesus Christ means.
"But we think it is a part of our mission to preserve A PURE MINISTRY, as
well. In a Baptist church the pastor holds the highest office in the church.
And he must be called of God. But when unregenerate men had found their way
into the church they sought to enter the ministry as men enter other
professions, supposing that they could learn to preach as men learn to
practice law or medicine. And when in the ministry, they began to claim for
themselves authority. The best positions were sought, and a minister was to
have authority according to the size and wealth of the church he served, and
thus gradually there grew up grades in the ministry; then the pastor became
the priest, and a hierarchy was fostered. Then legislative authority was
claimed. Christ was legislated out and the civil power in; the Church and
State were joined in unholy wedlock; and we have all the corruptions of the
middle ages.
"While sanctified intellect and learning are commodities of which we shall
never have too much, still we think it is a part of our mission to teach
that the Baptist Church has no use for men for her ministry, however massive
their brain, however sparkling their genius, however profound their
learning, however burning their eloquence, whose wills have not bowed to the
will of Christ, whose spiritual gravitation is not towards His cross; who
have not felt in their heart of hearts, `Woe is me if I preach not the
gospel;' and who, rather than be denied the privilege, would be willing to
fare as their Master did when on earth.
"Another part of the mission of the Baptist church is to preserve the
ORDINANCES IN THEIR ORIGINAL PURITY. Not that we have confidence in water or
bread or wine, whether much or little, only as they are divinely chosen and
God-appointed symbols for the proclamation of gospel truth. But believing
that they are thus appointed and are a part of God's plan for perpetuating
and proclaiming the essential facts of the gospel, to withhold them would be
to give up one of God's methods of preaching the gospel. To change them
would be so far to preach another gospel. To do either would

has a special mission, which is to preserve the purity of the church, which
task involves:

Urgent Press Release 29th JULY 2001

* Concern at new threats to Religious Freedom.

* Council legal aid for converts victimized by Orissa Police

* Govt. threatens draconian laws; VHP takes law in its own hands

[The following statement was issued in New Delhi and Hyderabad on Sunday,
29th July 2000 by All India Christian Council President Dr Joseph D'Souza
and Secretary General John Dayal in the wake of reports of draconian changes
in the Foreign Contributions regulation act, the Private members Bill in the
Lok Sabha against freedom of faith, the incidence of Vishwa Hindu Parishad
goons "arresting" Christian workers in Varanasi, the forcible
`re-conversion' of Orissa Christians under the combined pressure of the VHP
and the Orissa Police.]

The All India Christian Council calls upon Civil Society, the national Human
Rights Commission and fellow citizens to take united action to counter a
series of recent incidents in several Indian states by Fundamentalist
extremists of the Sangh Parivar, as well as by police forces acting at their
behest, in which the civil rights of Christian individuals and groups have
been violently attacked. The Council is deeply concerned that the central
and state governments, instead of taking urgent steps to restore confidence
among the terrorized minorities, have seemingly condoned such actions. The
Center is in fact, according to media reports, bringing forward legislation
that will further and more seriously affect religious minorities in the
country and their work, and injure Constitutional guarantees.

The Council has declared it will extend al legal assistance to the victims
who have been terrorized, specially in the states of Orissa, Gujarat, Uttar
Pradesh and Rajasthan.

The most ominous incident has taken place in Varanasi in the state of Uttar
Pradesh, where the state government controlled by the Bharatiya Janata party
has condoned military training with firearms provided to elements of the
Sangh Parivar in recent months. In that city on 24th July 2001, a Christian
religious worker was among five persons "detained" by self styled vigilantes
of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. The five men had come to the city to attend a
meeting. The City Superintendent of Police, who had the five men released,
admitted they were innocent of the charges of conversion levied against
them. The police have however taken no action against the VHP goons who
terrorized the Christian group.

VHP groups are also terrorizing the inmates of an ashram in Kota district of
Rajasthan which is home to over 1,500 destitute and orphaned young people
from various parts of the country. Death threats have been made against
Bishop M A Thomas and officials of the Ashram. Many other similar cases
have been reported from other states.

In Orissa, ruled by a coalition in which the BJP is a partner, the police
have looked on while Tribal Christians are being coerced into `reconverting'
to Hinduism. The Police have evoked the infamous and ironically named
Freedom of Religion Act selectively against the Christians but not against
their tormentors. As the media has reported, 17 adult persons had some time
ago become Christians, and had told the police they had done so of their own
free will, without any duress or allurement. The police, acting at the
behest of local religio-political goons, however chose to prosecute them and
registered cases against them. Emboldened by this, the local fundamentalist
elements intimidated the Christians, organizing social ostracisation against
them. Reports suggest that the authorities tacitly supported the
"reconversion." The council has deplored the blatant religious partisanship
of the local police and civil administration.

It is quite clear that these elements are getting strengthened by the
attitude of the Central government. The minority communities, specially
Christians are alarmed, at the failure of the Central government to denounce
a Private Members bill moved by one of their party members in the Lok Sabha,
the lower house of Parliament, which seeks a ban on religious conversions,
which in affect means a ban on freedom of faith. This bill evoked dark
memories of a similar Hitlerian OP Tyagi Bill in the late Seventies which
the government, of which the current Bharatiya Janata party was a part, had
extended its support.

The council has also strongly criticized the government's reported plan to
enact new laws to strangle foreign donations and grants to minority,
specially Christian, institutions and organizations. The existing F

Some new billboards are getting attention in Cleveland. Some reported
seeing one or two messages, but the newspaper listed all of them.

Here's a list of all variations of the "God Speaks" billboards. The
billboards are a simple black background with white text. No fine
print or sponsoring organization is included. These are awesome ...
enjoy.

Ever wonder about the abbreviation A.S.A.P.? Generally we think of it
in terms of even more hurry and stress in our lives. Maybe if we think of
this abbreviation in a different manner, we will begin to find a new way

There's work to do, deadlines to meet;
You've got no time to spare,
