Dear Joynetters, Peace in Jesus name, Amen. Are there not circumstances in our lives that make us to wonder what to do. Several times we put in our best in our families, in our working places and in other areas of our lives to make things better, jet to no avail. In some other occasions we have relied on men to help us out but instead things become worst. Doctors may have done their best to help us to cover soundness of health, lawyers may have tried in vain to help us win one case or the other and ministers of God may have also fasted and pray that things may get better, but it seems as though nothing has been done. Whatever the case may be, leave it for God. The word of the Lord tells us in Luke 1:37 that with God all things are possible. No matter how things are around you dont lose hope in God, dont commit suicide or renouce your faith for with God all things are possible. Have you prayed about the issue? Do you believe that God answers prayers? Do you have faith that He may answer you? Then leave it for God. After sharing his experience with me , the old man joyfully told me that he has become a christian and that arrangments to get him baotized is in progress.We prayed with him and left. Meanwhile we met the parish priest who confirmed what we where told by his parishioners. [JOYnet] YOU SHALL NOT DIE WITH YOUR ENEMIES
YOU SHALL NOT DIE WITH YOUR ENEMIES God answered all the prayers of Samson in the Land of Philistines. He pray that God might strengthen him once more so that with a single blow he would avenge one the Philistines for his eyes. God did it! But Samson also said LET ME DIE WITH THE PHILISTINES (Judges 16:30). As a result, Samson died with his enemies, for the building collapsed on them all. Dont you think that if Samson had not wished to die with the philistines that he would have survived? I think so. However, something prompted those words of Samson. The following are what I feel contributed to that. Firstly, Samson had lost his eyes. I have heard people today who say that they prefer to die than to become blind. May be Samson had the same kind of thought. However, no matter how we may have been shattered by our enemy through circumstance, we should never think that there is no way out. I have encountered people who were about commiting suicide for making one terrible mistake or the other. Instead of helping the issue it will result in eternal regret for we have no right to take our lives. Although you may have lost your focus in life, do not pray to die in that state. Your marriage may have be shattered but the world has not ended. Secondly, Samson never saw the possibility of his escape to Israel since he could no longer see. Humanly speaking he was right to pray thus but in any matter that involves God, there is nothing like impossibility. With God all things are possible (MK 10:27). I believe that if Samson had prayed for Gods deliverance, he would have got it. When you are in such situation, do not look at the circumstances or on your weakness for where mans ability stops that is where Gods miracle begins. Trials can come our way, there could be seemingly insurmountable mountain before us but God can deliver us. Thirdly, Samson might have also suffered from self-condemnation. Actually, God gave him a lot of opportunities to escape but he did not utilize them. He might have felt so guilty that he no longer wished to live. Many of us too suffer from feelings of guilt for falling into one temptation or the other. Some of us wish we were dead and cannot boldly talk in the public. Why do you think so? God can still forgive you! He calls you to come and settle the matter with Him no matter how dark is your sins (Is.1:18). And if God has forgiven you who can still condemn you? Dear Joynetters, Greetings in Jesus name. I discovered that the above write-up has attracted actions and reactions,as it coincided with Valentine season when much articles are written on the subject of love. The comments of all are very very interesting as each person has his own understanding and interpretation of the above subject matter, but for the purpose of clarity especially as this has to do with love, I wish to make the following observations: God instituted love and commanded all to love, the greatest commandment according to Jesus is that we love the Lord our God and second which is next to it is that we love our neaighbour as we love ourselves (Matt 22:36-39) We cannot do without loving one another but we must bear in mind that the world`s concept of love is errotic and that is why a lot of people today are becoming crazy about love. People have defined lust as love because of the sexual feelings they have towards each other and this has resulted in many backsliding from faith like Bro. Samson. Love that makes one to offend God is not love indeed, no matter how we claim to love our partners if such love leads us to committing sexual immorality then that love is not love afterall but lust of the flesh and that was the problem of Samson and Delilah. We should bear in mind that the history of the past heroes of faith is made availaible to us in other that we may be able to see the greateness and mercy of God and at the same time learn from their mistakes and pick challenge from their great exploits. Therefore we should not in anyway think that Samson was right for falling in love with a girl from Philistine because God had earlier warned Israelites not to intermarry with them, it is therefore obvious that any relationship with anybody in our time that is like that of Samson and Delilah will result in deviation and regret. meanwhile Jesus has shown us by example how to love. The love of Christ is self sacrificial ( Agape) which is not based on what somebody can do for us but on what we can do for somebody to the glory of God. Let this kind of love grow amongst us; Love that keeps no record of wrongs and cover multitude of sins, love that is anchored on holiness and on Jesus who is LOVE. THANKS Bro. Jude S.c. [JOYnet] ETHE END-TIME GLOBAL REVIVAL:WHAT IS YOUR VIEW?
E: END TIME GLOBAL REVIVAL WHATS YOUR VIEW? Dear Joynetters, May you ever remain blessed. This write up is aimed at making a clear elaboration on the questionnaire I sent to you on the above subject, as some of our brothers demanded. Actually, the central focus of the forthcoming publication of which I requested to have your personal views is not on end time. The word end-time is used here to describe the period in which we are and the classification of the expected revival in our time. The focus is on global revival. Many people have their different views concerning the end-time and these views often results in controversy. However, my approach to it is from general scriptural and Christian perspective. In his letter to the exiles of dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bittynia, St Peter said; The end of all things is at hand, therefore keep sane and sober unto prayers (Pet.4:7). The Catechism of the Catholic Church further explained: Since the ascension, Gods plan has entered into its fulfiment. We are already at the last hour Already the final stage of the world is with us, and the renewal of the world is irrevocably under way, it is even now anticipated in a certain real way, for the church on earth is endowed already with a sanctity that is real but imperfect. Christs Kingdom already manifests its presence through the miraculous signs that attend its proclamation by the church (C.C.C No. 670) While St. Peter tells us that the end of all things is near, the church draws our attention to the fact that we are in the last hour. To make this clearer, St. Peter added But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist have been stored up for time being kept until the day of judgement and destruction of ungodly men (11 Pet. 3:7) However, St. Peter did not hesitate to clarify himself thus: But do not ignore this fact, beloved that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow about His promise as some understand slowness, but is forbearing towards you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief and then the heavens will pass away with a loud noise and the elements will be dissolved with fire, and the earth and the works that are upon it will be burned (11 Pet. 3:8-10) In summary, we could see that the end of all things which is also referred to as the last hour is at hand but the date and time of actual end is unknown to man. We could also see that God is being patient to see if all may reach repentance,. This therefore means that the end-time does not just refer to the end day but to the periods that preceed the end day. And we can also see that the period in which we are is referred to as the end-time or the last hour as Catechism puts it. But as to when and how the actual end will be we do not know. Since it is not Gods will that any one should perish but that all should come to repentance, the end-time global revival is all about what God is doing at these last hours of grace through his people on earth in order to save the whole church from decay and the entire human race from destruction. It also refers to the actions of the Holy Spirit in convincing the world on the truth of sin, righteousness and judgement. Contributors should therefore not border themselves with how the end will look like and when it will be but should write based on their view of what God is doing in and through the universal church to restore His people to Himself. What actually is your view on what God is doing in these latter days especially in your country? What are the obstacles to this global revival? Are you a part of it? What is your personal commitment to this global revival? How do you intend to make Christ know to your generation? A paragraph or two is enough (at most a page) . [JOYnet] LORD, JUST ONE MORE TIME!
LORD, JUST ONE MORE TIME! The worst thing that Samson suffered was the loss of his eyes. Samson was in great pains and longed to revenge for what was done to him. He cried out, Oh sovereign Lord, remember me . O God, please strengthen me just once more, and let me with one blow get revenge on the Philistines for MY TWO EYES (Judges 16:28). The eyes are the light of the body and without them the entire body is in darkness. Have you realize that so many people in this age are spiritually blind? Do not be surprise too that so many who claim to be Christians are yet to see the light of salvation and some who used to see can no more see again like Samson. A Christian who have lost his sight is one who can no more understand the leading of the Holy Spirit, who can no more carry out his duties or who does his duties just to please men. This made St. Paul to pray for the Ephesians that the eyes of their understanding may be enlightened to see the hope for which they are called (Eph. 1:17-19). He also told the Corinthians of men who have been blindfolded by the gods of this world, lest they see the light of the gospel and be saved. (11Cor. 4:4) Have you lost your eyes to the devil? It is the right time to pray for strength just one more time that we may avenge on the enemy for our inheritance. We were told that Samson held the two central pillars with his two hands and pushed the dagon temple down thus killing more people than ever. God will restore your strength again, that you may be able to do greater exploits in His name. Although you have been defeated all along, although you have become an object of scorn and although the demonic powers in your environment have held you captive God will restore your strength again and grant you victory in totality. Shout Amen to that! However, you must fall on your knees like Samson and ask the Lord to restore His power upon your life, you need the anointing of the Holy Spirit, you need the gifts of the spirit this one more time. Fellow Joynetters, The story of Samson and Delilah in Judges 16 is one that requires some moment of sober reflection. Samson the strong who was anointed by God to deliver Israel from the hands of the Philistines sudenly became an object of scorn in Gaza-the capital of Philistine. This great man of God who destroy thousands of Philistines soldiers and posed great threat to their ruling authority sudenly became powerless and incapacitated. What made is so? Delilah! After Samson had met Delilah the Philistine girl whom he loved more than his life and people, the story became a different one. This so called love made Samson the man of God to reveal the source of his strenght to a daughter of his enemies. And eventually,she lured Samson into a deep sleep on her lapse and had his hairs barbed. Samson was subsequently captured by his enemies who had his eyes removed. To make it even worst the great man of God became a grinder and an entertainer of Philistines his enemy. Oh Samson is that how you ended!? It is a pity that this man of God ended this way, but it is much more pitiful for so many who are following the footstep of Samson the strong. There are so many people today who have lost their Christian consecration, anointing and ministry ever since they met some Delilahs in thier lives. Who is that person that is the Delilah in your life? who is that man or woman that has held you in bondage in immorality. In the name of prayer partner, follow-up and marriage, so many youths have been deeply involved in fornication, adultry and other immoral acts. No wonder you cannot pray as you use to do before, no wonder you have lost the burden of preaching the good news and now wonder the annointing of God has left your life. Therefore wake up from the laps of that Delilah before she strips you of your strenght. MISUSE OF THE NAME OF THE LORD (HINDRANCE NUMBER ONE) Many believers ask questions of this nature especially those who are passing through hard times. But the fact remains that God and His words are unchangeable. If there is any change then it is we that changed. However, the following are some of the reasons why some people call the name of Jesus and witness little or no results. 1. THE NAME ABOVE ALL NAMES (WISDOM FOR EXCELLENCY) Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved Act 4:12 Name is a title by which a person, place or thing is known. There are millions of names in this world, and everyone esteems the name he or she bears. Even if it is not too important to others, it is certainly important for the bearer. However, some other names are greatly respected by others, such as the names of Kings, presidents, governors, etc. Although there are so many names that matters, there is the name that matters most. The name is an incomparable name. There is healing, salvation and deliverance in this name. This name is a strong tower where the righteous run into and become saved. And it is the only name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved. What is this name? JESUS! Can I hear you shout this name? There are uncountable names in this world but the name of Jesus is greater. Why? This is so because God Himself exalted this name. Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every other name, that at the name of Jesus every kneel should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the father (Phili.2:10-11). Through this name Peter and John made the crippled man who sat at the temples gate to walk again, Philip caused a lot of havoc in Samaria in this name, and it was also in this name that Paul proclaimed the goodness and casted out demon. (Acts 3:6; 8:1-40; 13-26). Jesus has assured us that He would do whatever we ask for in His name (Jn 14:13), He further promised that these signs will accompany those who believe; In my name they will drive out demons, they will pick up snakes with their hands, and when they drink deadly poison it will not hurt them at all, they will place their hands on the sick and they will get well (Mk 16: 17 18). Let us therefore uphold this wonderful name that is above other names. God will not disappoint us. However, why has so many people called on this name and nothing happened? Greetings to all members of Joynet- the Jesus Youth family. I am glad to become a part of this Christian Family. Within the few days of my enrollment I have received spiritually uplifting mails. While we keep rejoicing for having celebrated the birthday of Our Lord Jesus, we have to bring into focus as well year 2003 which is just few hours away from now. A new year can mean so many things to so many people, but for the children of God, it must have a common meaning. Everyday gives us opportunity of inheriting our God- given inheritance, it also brings us closer to the second coming of Christ. The 365 days of each year is also to the believer a time of fulfilling his mission of existence and of glorifying the Lord through our thought, words and action. Therefore these 365 days in your 2003 should not take us far from God, instead they should bring us to a closer relationship with our God. So, as we prepare to enter this new year, we should all with boldness make our requests from God and enquire of Him of His will for us. Everyone of us should be able to set aside at least ten minutes for meditation and cross examination of our relationship with God. Everyone should be able to ask himself the following questions: 1. What are the blessings from the Lord upon me in year 2002? 2. How can I appreciate and praise the Lord? 3. What were my weaknesses in year 2002? 4. How can I overcome them in year 2003? 5. What is that sinful habit I need to drop in year 2003? 6. What do I need from the Lord in year 2003? 7. What does God want me to do for him in the year 2003? May God help us to see our failures in order to become perfect, recognize our weaknesses in order to be strong, understand His faithfulness in order to trust Him, and to serve him better by loving and serving one another.
