[JOYnet] Teach me to forgive

2002-12-01 Thread lyann dandge
Dear friends,

surely this advent teaches us to be alert and watchfull which means be alert
with repentance and forgiveness and watchfull for the lord who speaks to us
at every moment.

   Teach me to forgive

One day a while back, a man, his heart heavy with grief, was walking in
the woods. As he thought about his life this day, he knew many things
were
not right. He thought about those who had lied about him back when he
had
a job.

His thoughts turned to those who had stolen his things and cheated him.
He
remembered family that had passed on. His mind turned to the illness he
had
that no one could cure. His very soul was filled with anger, resentment
and frustration.
Standing there this day, searching for answers he could not find,
knowing
all else had failed him, he knelt at the base of> an old oak tree to
seek
the one he knew would always be there, and with tears in his eyes, he
prayed

"Lord- You have done wonderful things for me in this life. You have told
me to do many things for you, and I happily obeyed. Today, you have told
me to forgive. I am sad, Lord, because I cannot. I don't know how. It is
not fair Lord. I didn't deserve these wrongs that were done against me
and I shouldn't have to forgive. As perfect as your way is Lord, this
one
thing I cannot do, for I don't know how to forgive. My anger is so deep
Lord,
I fear I may not hear you, but I pray that you teach me to do this one
thing
I cannot do - Teach me To Forgive.

As he knelt there in the quiet shade of that old oak tree, he felt
something fall onto his shoulder. He opened his eyes. Out of the corner
of
one eye, he saw something red on his shirt. He could not turn to see
what
it was because where the oak tree had been was a large square piece of
wood in the ground. He raised his head and saw two feet held to the wood
with a large spike through them. He raised his head more, and tears came
to his eyes as he saw Jesus hanging on a cross. He saw spikes in His
hands, a gash in His side, a torn and battered body, deep thorns sunk
into
His head. Finally he saw the suffering and pain on His precious face. As
their eyes met, the man's tears turned to sobbing, and Jesus began to
speak.

Have you ever told a lie, he asked?
The man answered - yes Lord.

Have you ever been given too much change and kept it?
The man answered yes Lord. And the man sobbed more and more.

Have you ever taken something from work that wasn't yours, Jesus asked?
And the man answered yes Lord.

Have you ever sworn, using my Father's name in vain?
The man, crying now, answered yes Lord.

As Jesus asked many more times, "Have you ever"? The man's crying became
uncontrollable, for he could only answer yes Lord.

Then Jesus turned His head from one side to the other, and the man felt
something fall on his other shoulder. He looked and saw that it was the
blood of Jesus. When he looked back up, his eyes met those of Jesus, and
there was a look of love the man had never seen or known before. Jesus
said, I didn't deserve this either, but I forgive you.

It may be hard to see how you're going to get through something, but
when
you look back in life, you realize how true this statement is Read the
first line slowly and let it sink in. This is simple, and important.
Read
onThis first line is deep.

If God brings you to it - He will bring you through it. Lord I love You
and I need You, come into my heart, Today. For without You I can do
nothing.

God bless you.

PRAISE THE LORD ,

WELL I FEEL VERY SAD THAT SO MANY OF US STILL FEEL AND BELIEVE IN THIS
VAASTHUSHASTRA.
I WILL GIVE U 2 EXAMPLES THAT MIGHT ATLEAST GIVE U AN IDEA REGARDING THIS.
WHEN THERE IS A SMALL CHILD IN THE FAMILY THE WOMEN OF THE HOUSE PUT KAZAL
OR BLACK AND ORANGE BEADS AROUND THE NECK OF THE CHILD OR BLACK AND WHITE
BANGLES TO REMOVE NAZAR OF THE CHILD, WELL U KNOW WHAT ARE WE TRYING TO SAY
WHEN WE REMOVE THE NAZAR OF THE CHILD THAT GOD THOUGH U ARE THE CREATER AND
THE MAKER OF THIS EARTH U ARE LESS POWERFUL THAN THIS NAZAR THUS INDIRECTLY
WORSHIPPING THE NAZAR.
AND WHATEVER THE CHURCH HAS TAUGHT US REGARDING THE SACRAMENTS REGARDING OIL
AND WATER ARE JUST USED AS SYMBOLS GIVEN TO US BY GOD HIMSELF PLEASE READ
THE WORD OF GOD. THE SCAPALUR, ROSARY ARE GIVEN TO US BY MOTHER MARY NO
QUESTION AND DOUBT ABT IT I HOPE !
ONCE I HAD BEEN TO MY FRIENDS HOUSE AND WE WERE DISCUSSING REGARDING FENG
SHUI SORRY FOR THE SPELLING MISTAKES, SHE HAD BROUGHT SOMETHING IN HER HOUSE
FROM THE FENG SHUI .
AND SHE TOLD ME THAT THING GAVE POSITIVE ENERGIES IN THE HOUSE THUS KEEPING
THE ATMOSPHERE POSITIVE AND GOOD.
THEN I ASKED HER WHO IS UR CREATOR AND SHE SAID GOD THEN I ASKED HER THEN
WHY DO U WORSHIP THE THINGS HE HAS CREATED THAN HIM. WHEN WE PUT SUCH THINGS
IN OUR HOUSE WE ARE AGAIN TELLING GOD THAT HE IS LESS POWERFUL THAN THAT
THING OR VAASTHUSHASTRA. WHO ARE WE TO TELL THAT THIS IS GOOD OR THAT IS BAD
WHEN GOD HAS CREATED EVERYTHING GOOD. HIS WAYS ARE NOT MY WAYS AND HIS
THOUGHTS ARE NOT MY THOUGHTS HIS WAYS ARE ONLY DIFFERENT SO WE NEED TO
CONSTANTLY WAIT UNTO HIM AND ASK HIM HIS WILL FOR US.

IAM SURE MANY OF OUR DOUBTS WILL BE CLEARED WHEN WE WAIT UNTO THE LORD AND
ASK HIM CAUSE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO KNOW WHO DO U WORSHIP GOD OR
VAASTHUSHASTRI?

A newly arrived soul in Heaven was met by St. Peter. The saint
toured
the soul around Heaven. Both of them walked side by side inside
a large workroom filled with angels.
St. Peter stopped in front of the first section and said,
"This is the Receiving Section. Here, all the petitions to God said in

prayer are received".
The soul looked at the section, and it was terribly busy with
so many angels sorting out petitions written on voluminous paper
sheets from all the people of the world.
They walked again until they reached the 2nd section, and St.
Peter
told the soul, "This is the Packaging and Delivery Section. Here,
the graces and blessings the people asked for are packed and
delivered
to the persons who asked for them down on earth."
The soul saw how busy it was. There were so many angels
working in that room, since so many blessing were being packed
and delivered
to Earth.
Finally at the farthest corner of the room, the soul stopped
at the last section. To the surprise of the soul, only one angel
stayed
there idly, doing nothing. "This is the Acknowledging Section," St.
Peter
told the soul.
"How is it that, there is no work here?" "That's the sad thing,"
St. Peter answered. "After the people received the blessings
they asked for, very few send their acknowledgments".
"How does one acknowledge God's blessing?"
"Simple," St. Peter answered. "Just say, "'Thank you, Lord'."

Re [JOYnet] St. Mary Magdalene.

2002-10-18 Thread lyann dandge
Dearest friend,
Please Clarify re this :

It is believed that St.Mary Magdalene was the sinner referred to in
(LUKE
7:36-50) who anointed Jesus' feet at the banquet of Simon, the Pharisee. We
see Jesus appreciating her act of faith and forgiving her sins.

Is it true that Mary Magdalene is the same person who is referred in thisw
above passage, becuase one brother who comes to our parish told me that this
mary is different and that mary magdalene are different. Please Clarify.

Subject: [JOYnet] St. Mary Magdalene.
Date: Thu, 17 Oct 2002 15:44:54 +0530

Dear brothers and sisters of the the JoyNet,

Saints are special people from whom we can draw a lot of inspiration
in
our Christian Walk. They are people according to St. Paul who .."First gave
themselves to the Lord; and then by God's will they gave themselves to us
as
well" 2 Cori 8 : 5. I would like to share my thoughts on the life of this
beautiful saint - St. Mary Magdalene who appears so many times in the Bible
as
a person so intimate in serving Jesus. She is without doubt a powerful
intercessor for us to Jesus.

It is believed that St.Mary Magdalene was the sinner referred to in
(LUKE
7:36-50) who anointed Jesus' feet at the banquet of Simon, the Pharisee. We
see Jesus appreciating her act of faith and forgiving her sins.

The gospel also suggests that St. Mary Magdalene used to help Jesus and
his
ministry financially as is revealed in (MRK 15:41, 16:1; LUK 8:3). God used
Mary Magdalene and many other women to support Jesus and his disciples
financially. (MAT 27:55; MAR 15:41).

The gospel also speaks about Her being delivered from demonic
possession.
She was one person who was desperately in need of divine intervention and
we
see that she attains it through Jesus Christ the great Deliverer. MARK 16:9
says that seven demons had been driven out of her by Jesus.

St. Mary Magdalene after her encounter with Christ and His saving love
was
steadfast in her faithfulness in following Him even under severe
persecution
till the foot of the Cross with His Mother.(MATHEW 27:55; MARK 15:40; LUKE
23:49; JOHN 19:25).

We also see St. Mary Magdalene keen to anoint Jesus at the time of
entombment after his death. The bible says that she purchased the spices
for
the anointing of Jesus body at the tomb. (MARK16:1)

St. Mary Magdalene reveals her deep commitment to Lord Jesus in John
20 :
11 when we see her crying bitterly at the Lords tomb and when she complains
to
the Angels seated in the tomb - " They have taken "my Lord" away ..." We
also
see St. Mary Magdalene sprinting to the disciples to inform them about the
empty tomb. Because of her great love and faith she gets the rare
oppurtunity
to speak and listen to the voice of the Angels of God. The angel said to
the
women, 'Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who
was
crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the
place where he lay.'"
MATH 28:5,6

And finally we see Jesus Himself rewarding her commitment, by revealing
first to her; after His resurrection and calling her " Mary " and she
responding as "Rabboni" - a word full of love and faithfulness.

  St. Mary Magdalene is one of my favourite woman in the New Testament;
after
Mother Mary who is full of zeal and love towards serving God. She should
have
been very close to Mother Mary too and should have been present in the
Upper
Room with Mother Mary and all the Apostles to receive the powerful
anointing
of the Holy Spirit. She is truly a great saint isn't she ??

Now I invite you dear brother and sisters in making this prayer to St.
Mary
Magdalene one of the oldest prayers written by St. Ansalem. Are we giving
enough importance to her in our prayers ? Cos she is one person who was
really
intimate to Jesus and when she intercedes; you can be sure that the heavens
are gonna open!

Prayer to St Mary Magdalene

By Saint Anselm

In the name of the father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O, St Mary Magdalene, you came with springing tears to the spring of mercy,
our Lord Jesus Christ; from him your burning thirst was abundantly
refreshed,
through him your sins were forgiven; by him your bitter sorrow was
consoled.

My dearest lady, you know well by your own life how a sinful soul can be
reconciled with its creator, what counsel a soul in misery needs, what
medicine will restore the sick to health.

It is enough for us to understand, dear friend of God, to whom were many
sins
forgiven, because you loved our saviour Jesus Christ so much .

Most blessed St. Mary Magdalene, I who am the most evil and sinful of
men(women) do not recall your sins as a reproach, but call upon the
boundless
mercy

[JOYnet] give HIM thanks

2002-09-12 Thread lyann dandge

Dearest Loving friends,

"Happy moments, praise God. Difficult moments, seek God.
Quiet moments, worship God. Painful moments, trust God.
Every moment, thank God."

Have you ever been just sitting there and all of a sudden
you feel like doing something nice for someone you care
for... THAT'S GOD... He talks to you through the Holy Spirit.

Have you ever been down and out and nobody seems to be around
for you to talk to... THAT'S GOD... He wants you to talk to Him.

Have you ever been thinking about somebody that you haven't seen in a
long time and then next thing you know you see them or receive a phone
call from them... THAT'S GOD... there is no such thing as
"coincidence."

Have you ever received something wonderful that you didn't even ask for,
like money in the mail, a debt that had mysteriously
been cleared, or a coupon to a department store where you had just seen
something you wanted, but couldn't afford... THAT'S GOD...
He knows the desires of your heart...

Have you ever been in a situation and you had no clue how
it is going to get better, but now you look back on it... THAT'S
GOD...He passes us through tribulation to see a brighter day...
Do you think that this e-mail was accidentally sent to you?

Please pass this along and share the Power of God.

In all that we do, we should totally give HIM thanks and our blessings
will continue to multiply. "Kind words can be short and easy to speak,
but their echoes are truly endless.

[JOYnet] how to face problems

2002-09-09 Thread lyann dandge

Dear Friends,

1. Words From Jesus - "Problem Solving" From Jesus Journal

"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its
own
things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Matthew 6:24

“I have so many problems coming at me at one time, I just sometimes fold,”
said
a woman in charge of an office with eleven employees under her direction.
“When
I get home I’m exhausted and my husband thinks sometimes that I ought to
give up
the responsibility.”

Many of us are like this woman. Problems come at such at us at such a rapid
pace
that we feel overwhelmed. This situation leads to stress, anxiety, and
causes
many of us to want to give up.

So, should we throw in the towel when problems roll over us like a wave, or
should we figure out some new way of dealing with them? Jesus suggests we
not
get stressed out about the problems of today, or those we anticipate for
tomorrow, so perhaps we need to rethink how we deal with problems.

Are problems something we consider negative, or can they be positive things
in
our lives? The reality is, problems get unmanageable when we start to
struggle
with them. Here are three tips about dealing with problems:

1. Don’t focus on the problem, but on the larger context. If you are able to
readjust your thinking about problems they can become opportunities. It’s
true!
Ask the Lord what he is trying to teach you. Then, ask the Lord to give you
the
wisdom to come up with the best solution.

2. Don’t complain about problems, as they can be blessings in disguise.
Instead
of complaining, take action. Find the human elements in the situation. Don’t
think of yourself first, but instead determine how other people can end up
being
blessed by the resolution of the problem. Don’t ignore your own needs or
concerns, but keep them in proper perspective.

3. Don’t let problems wear you down. Remember, they demonstrate you are
alive
and involved in life. Above all, the way you deal with problems are an
indication of how close you are to Jesus. He can bring the clarity of mind
and
the motivation to enable you to solve the problems that come, and to learn
and
grow through them.

Problems can be turned into blessings when you understand the Lord is using
them
to teach you wonderful things.

[JOYnet] Pray without ceasing

2002-09-03 Thread lyann dandge

- "A New Way To Pray" from Jesus journal weekly

"Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that
you
receive them, and you will have them.” Mark 11:24

Jesus expects us to be a praying people. The fact is, most of us aren’t very
good at it. Most of us mouth our petitions and seek blessings, but too few
of us
prevail in prayer.

And even though we know the Bible teaches that we should “pray without
ceasing,”
(1 Thessalonians 5:17), most of us don’t pray often enough. That’s where a
“new
way to pray” comes in.

Rather than getting lost in morning and evening prayers, or rather than
trying
to emulate Muslims by praying a certain number of times per day, we need to
be
constantly in prayer. But it should not be abstract, but a part of our
daily
routine.

For example, when you have breakfast in the morning, walk around the table
and
pray for each member of the family. If you see a Highway Patrolman as you
drive
to work, ask God to bless him and keep him safe. If a co-workers shares a
family
problem, silently pray for that matter on the spot. Writing a letter or
email to
someone? Pray for the recipient as you sign or send it. Pray for people you
read
about in newspapers or see on the television news.

Start “glancing prayers.” Take a quick look at the discouraged man on the
street
and pray for him. Glance at the young mother with the crying baby in the
supermarket and pray for her and her child. Glance at the face of the person
who
pumps your gas and pray for him. Glance at the tired waitress and ask Jesus
to
sustain and bless her. We are constantly glancing a wide range of people for
many reasons, and it should become a trigger to bring them before the Lord.

This is a new way to “pray without ceasing.” As we pray in this way, we must
believe as Jesus taught us. When we believe, we know that our many prayers
will
not ricochet off the ceiling, but arrive at the Throne of God, where he
hears
and answers and moves in the lives of the people for whom we pray.

[JOYnet] "Dealing With Anger "

2002-08-27 Thread lyann dandge

My dearest friends in christ,

"Dealing With Anger "

“Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought
and
sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the
seats of those who sold doves.” Matthew 21:12

Wow, was Jesus angry, or what? He ran off all the merchants and overturned
the
tables the bankers used. We all suppose that if he was angry, it’s okay if
we
get angry too, and perhaps rearrange a little furniture in the process too.
Right?

The truth is that anger is a normal human emotion. The real trick in life is
to
manage anger so that it does some good rather than evil.
In the case of Jesus, he was showing a righteous indignation that the
Temple,
his Father’s house, was being used as a mini-mall. The problem was clear to
him
as was the solution, so he took direct action.

Unfortunately, the problem is not always clear to us, and we get angry at
the
wrong things. Also, we have to admit that our motives are sometimes wrong –
we
don’t always operate out of righteousness, but self-righteousness.

How can we overturn some tables on our own anger? Here are some suggestions:

1. We need to train ourselves to be slow to anger. Since flashpoint anger is
just a bad habit, those who have this malady can learn a new way of dealing
with
it. Proverbs 19:11 says, “The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger;
it is
to his glory to overlook an offense.”

2. We need to be alert to situations that may trigger anger in us, and avoid
them. When anger is triggered, it is best to absorb it while keeping quiet,
then coming up with a plan for dealing with the anger rationally. James 1:19
says, “My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to
listen,
slow to speak and slow to become angry.”

3. Finally, heed Ephesians 4:26-27 which says, “"Be angry, and do not sin:
Do
not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil.” Don’t
take your anger out on your spouse, children or dog, instead take your anger
to
Jesus. Pour out your soul to him, and receive the spirit of healing from
him.

Bad anger causes us to react. Good anger causes to act. It is very
important to
know the difference between these two things.

Love in Christ,
Lyann

[JOYnet] life is precious

2002-08-19 Thread lyann dandge

He loved to speed and could not be bothered about breaking
speed limits.
Many a time he was caught by the cops and speed radars,
fined, but still he never bothered until. One day as he was driving
at a very high speed as usual, he saw a cop following him in his
police car. The cop overtook him finally and asked him to stop and
checked his licence. He then took out his pad and started writing, and
then handed over the sheet of paper to Sanjay. How much
was this one going to cost? Wait a minute. What was this? Some
kind of joke?
Certainly not a ticket.
Sanjay began to read: "Dear
Sanjay, Once upon a time I had a lovely daughter. She was six when
killed by a car. You guessed it - a speeding driver's car.
A fine and
three months in jail, and the man was free. Free to hug his all his three
daughters. I only had one, and I'm going to have to wait until Heaven,
before I can ever hug her again.
A thousand times I've tried to
forgive that man. A thousand times I thought I had. Maybe I did, but I
need to do it again. Even now. Pray for me.. And be careful, Sanjay,
my son is all I have left."
Sanjay turned around in time to see the cop's car pull away and head down
the road. He watched until it
disappeared.
A full 15 minutes later, he too, pulled away and drove
slowly home, praying for forgiveness and hugging a surprised wife and
kids when he arrived.

Life is precious. Handle with care

[JOYnet] In sickness or in pain He will always remain.

2002-08-15 Thread lyann dandge

POEM:

“I have been through the valley of weeping,
The valley of sorrow and pain;
But the God of all comfort was with me,
At hand to uphold and sustain.

“As the earth needs the clouds and sunshine,
Our souls need both sorrow and joy;
So he places us oft in the furnace,
The dross from the gold to destroy.

“When he leads thro some valley of trouble,
His omnipotent and hand we trace;
For the trials and sorrows He sends to us,
Are Part of His lessons in grace.

“Oft we Shrink from the purging and the pruning,
Forgetting the Husbandman knows
That the deeper the cutting and paring,
The richer and the cluster that grows.

“Well He knows the affliction is needed;
He has a wise purpose in view
And in the dark valley He whispers,
Hereafter Thou’lt know what I do’

“As We travel thro’ life’s Shadow’d valley
Fresh springs of His love ever rise;
And we learn that our sorrows and losses,
Are blessings just sent in disguise.

“So we’ll follow wherever He leadeth,
Let the path be dreary or bright;
For we’ve proved that our God can give comfort
Our God can give songs in the night”

[JOYnet] do to others as u would want them to do to u

2002-07-17 Thread Lyann

He almost didn't see the old lady, stranded on the side of the road.
>But even in the dim light of day, he could see she needed help.

[JOYnet] The Power of One Hail Mary

2002-03-05 Thread Lyann

The Power of One Hail Mary

HAIL, MARY, full of grace; the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among
women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
HOLY MARY, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our
death. Amen.

Millions of Catholics often say the Hail Mary. Some repeat it hastily not even
thinking on the words they are saying. These following words may help some say
it more thoughtfully.
They can give God's Mother great joy and obtain for themselves graces that she
wishes to give them.

One Hail Mary well said fills the heart of Our Lady with delight and obtains
for us indescribably great graces. One Hail Mary well said gives us more
graces than a thousand thoughtlessly said.

The Hail Mary is like a mine of gold that we can always take from but never
exhaust.
Is it hard to say the Hail Mary well? All we have to do is to know its value
and understand its meaning.

St. Jerome tells us that "the truths contained in the Hail Mary are so
sublime, so wonderful that no man or Angel could fully understand them."

St. Thomas Aquinas, the Prince of Theologians, "the wisest of Saints and
holiest of wise men," as Leo XIII called him, preached for 40 days in Rome on
the Hail Mary, filling his hearers with rapture.

Father F. Suarez, the holy and learned Jesuit, declared when dying that he
would willingly give all the many learned books he wrote, all his life's
labors, for the merit of one Hail Mary prayerfully and devoutly said.

St. Mechtilde, who loved our Lady very much, was one day striving to compose a
beautiful prayer in her honor. Our Lady appeared to her, with the golden
letters on her breast of: "Hail Mary full of grace." She said to her: "Desist,
dear child, from your labor for no prayer you could possibly compose would
give me the joy and delight of the Hall Mary."

A certain man found joy in saying slowly the Hail Mary. The Blessed Virgin in
return appeared to him smiling and announced to him the day and hour that he
should die, granting him a most holy and happy death.

After death a beautiful white lily grew from his mouth having written on its
petals: "Hail Mary."

Cesarius recounts a similar incident. A humble and holy monk lived in the
monastery. His poor mind and memory were so weak that he could only repeat one
prayer which was the "Hail Mary." After death a tree grew over his grave and
on all its leaves was written: "Hail Mary."

These beautiful legends show us how much devotion to Our Lady was valued, and
the power attributed to the Hail Mary devoutly prayed.

Each time that we say the Hail Mary we are repeating the very same words with
which St. Gabriel the Archangel saluted Mary on the day of the Annunciation,
when she was made Mother of the Son of God.

Many graces and joys filled the soul of Mary at that moment.

Now when we say the Hail Mary we offer anew all these graces and joys to Our
Lady and she accepts them with Immense delight.

In return she gives us a share in these joys.

Once Our Lord asked St. Francis Assisi to give Him something. The Saint
replied: "Dear Lord, I can give You nothing for I have already given you all,
all my love."

Jesus smiled and said: "Francis, give Me it all again and again, it will give
Me the same pleasure."

So with our dearest Mother, she accepts from us each time we say the Hail Mary
the joys and delight she received from the words of St. Gabriel.

Almighty God gave His Blessed Mother all the dignity, greatness and holiness
necessary to make her His own most perfect Mother.

But He also gave her all the sweetness, love, tenderness and affection
necessary to make her our most loving Mother. Mary is truly and really our
Mother.

As children when in trouble run to their mothers for help, so ought we to run
at once with unbounded confidence to Mary.

St. Bernard and many Saints said that it was never, never heard at any time or
in any place that Mary refused to hear the prayers of her children on earth.

Why do we not realize this most consoling truth? Why refuse the love and
consolation that God's Sweet Mother is offering us?

Is it our lamentable ignorance which deprives us of such help and consolation.

To love and trust Mary is to be happy on earth now and afterwards to be happy
in Heaven.

Dr. Hugh Lammer was a staunch Protestant, with strong prejudices against the
Catholic Church.

One day he found an explanation of the Hail Mary and read it. He was so
charmed with it that he began to say it daily. Insensibly all his
anti-Catholic animosity began to disappear. He became a Catholic, a holy
priest and a professor of Catholic Theology in Breslau.

A priest was called to the bedside of a man who was dying in despair because
of his sins.
Yet he refused obstinately to go to confession. As a last recourse the priest
asked him to say at least the Hail Mary after which the poor man made a
sincere confession and died a holy death.

In England, a parish priest was asked to go and see a Protestant lady who was
gravely ill, and who w

>Fr. Tuckwell + A little 6-year old Protestant boy had often heard his

>that he copied it, memorized it and would recite it every day. One day he
>said to his mother,"Look, Mummy, what a beautiful prayer," + "Never again
>say it," answered the mother. "It is a superstitious prayer of Catholics
>who adore idols and think Mary a goddess. After all, she is a woman like
>any other. Come on, take this Bible and read it. It contains everything
>that we are bound to do and have to do." + >From that day on the little boy
>discontinued his daily "Hail Mary" and gave himself more time to reading
>the Bible instead. One day, while reading the Gospel, he came across the
>passage about the Annunciation of the Angel to Our Lady. Full of joy, the
>little boy ran to his mother and said: + "Mummy, I have found the Hail Mary
>in the Bible which says: "Hail full of grace, the Lord is with thee,
>blessed art thou amongst women." Why do you call it a superstitious

>Elizabeth to the Virgin Mary and the wonderful canticle, the Magnificat, in

>no more about it to his mother but started to recite the "Hail Mary" every

>she studied the Catholic doctrine. After long preparation she received
>Baptism together with her whole family, thanking her brother for being an

[JOYnet] BIBLE SHARING THE DISCIPLES PRAYER

2001-11-15 Thread lyann dandge

BIBLE SHARING – THE DISCIPLE’S PRAYER

Mathew Chp. 6:9-15

THE LORDS PRAYER- OUR FATHER

The Lord's Prayer is not a child's prayer as it is so often regarded, it is
infact not meaningful for a child. The Lords is specifically and definitely
stated to be a disciple's prayer, and only on the lips of the disciple has
the prayer its full meaning. In other words the Lords prayer can only really
be prayed when the man knows what he is saying and he cannot know that until
he has entered discipleship.

We must know the order of the petitions in the Lord’s Prayer:

The first three petitions have to do with GOD and the glory of GOD.
That means God is first given the supreme place, then and only then we turn
to our desires and ourselves. It is only when God is given His proper place
that all other things fall into their proper places. Prayer must never be an
attempt to bend the will of God to our desires. Prayer ought always to be an
attempt to submit our will to the will of God.

The second three petitions have to do with our needs and necessities.
The second part of the prayer asks for bread, which is necessary for
maintenance of life and thereby brings the present to the throne of God.
Secondly it asks for forgiveness and thereby brings the past to the
presence of God. Thirdly it asks for help in temptation and thereby commits
all the future in the hands of God.

In brief we are taught to lay the present, the past, the future before the
footstool of the grace of God. That doesn’t mean that it brings the whole of
life to the present of God, but it brings the whole of God to our lives.

When we ask for bread to sustain our earthly lives, our thoughts are
immediately directed to God the Father the creator and Sustainer of Life.
When we ask for forgiveness, that request directs our thoughts to God the
Son, Jesus Christ our Savior and Redeemer.
When we ask for help for future temptation, our thoughts are directed to God
the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, the Strengthener, the illuminator, the Guide
and Guardian of our way.
Thus in all, the lord's prayer takes the present, past, and the future, the
whole of man's life and presents them to God the Father, God the Son and God
the Holy Spirit to God in all his fullness.

Our Father in heaven : Who art in Heaven

The great value of this word Father is that it settles all the relationship
of this life. When we discover that God to whom we pray has the heart of the
father it makes all the difference in the world. We can rest in our father’s
love. To call God Father, is to settle our relationship to the world in
which we live. God is the Father of all the nations.

The Lord’s prayer teach us to pray as ‘Our Father” and not as My Father
cause Jesus came to take I, me and mine out of life and instead He put we,
us, and ours. God is not any mans exclusive possession.

STORY – ROMAN EMPEROR – AND HIS LITTLE SON

Story: Old Roman story, which tells how a Roman Emperor was enjoying a
victory. He was on the march with his troops. The streets were lined with
cheering people. His family was also there on a platform. As the Emperor
came near his little son jumped off the platform and ran to meet his father.
One soldier picked him up and told him that you can’t run to the chariot in
which the Emperor is sitting. The boy said he may be your Emperor but HE’ MY
FATHER. That’s the way we should feel about God our Father.

God is not an easy going parent who shuts his eyes to all sins and faults
and mistakes. This God we must approach with reverence and adoration, awe
and wonder. When we say our Father in heaven, we place side by side the love
of God and the power of God.

HOLY BE YOUR NAME

A person who is holy is separated from other people. Difference - Church
and other bldgs. Altar is holy – table – We should treat God’s name
differently from all other names and give a position, which is unique. We
should give reverence to God and believe that God exists. So when we pray
HOLY BE THY NAME we give God the unique place which His nature and character
deserves. We must reverence God not only because he exists but also because
He is the God whom we know Him to be Full of Holiness, justice and Love.

THY KINGDOM COME, THY WILL BE DONE ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN

We find that Jesus spoke about Gods Kingdom in three different ways.
1. He spoke of the kingdom existing in the past with Abraham, Isaac and
Jacob (Luke: 13:28/ Math 8:11).
2. He spoke of the present, the kingdom of God is in midst of you (Luke
17:21).
3. He spoke of the future, teaching men to pray for the coming of the
kingdom.

To be in the kingdom is to obey the will of God. The most important thing in
the world is to obey the will of God, the most important words in this world
are Thy Will Be done. Therefore a man should accept the will of God gladly
and willingly no matter what that will may be.

The Christians can always be sure of 2 things about God.
God is the expe

Communion in the hand

"Communion in the hand has not been, and will not be accepted by Heaven.
This is a sacrilege in the eyes of the Eternal Father, and must not be
continued, for you only add to your punishment when you continue on in the
ways that have been found to be unpleasing to the Eternal Father." - Our
Lady, June 30, 1984

THIS SACRAMENT OF LOVE
In year 700 a priest in Lanciano, Italy doubted the Real Presence of Jesus
in the Eucharist. One day at his Mass at the words of consecration the Host
turned into Flesh and the wine turned into Blood. Millions of people from
then until now, come from all over the world come to see this Miraculous
Host and Blood.

In 1970, the Vatican ordered a thorough investigation with the latest
scientific medical equipment and the most illustrious professors in the
medical field.

The investigation showed the Host had turned into living flesh, into a
very fine slice through the center of a human heart, as though it had just
been expertly cut by a surgeon’s scalpel. It tested as living Heart tissue
and living Blood even though this miracle happened 1270 years ago.

Jesus truly gives His Love, His Body, His Most Sacred Heart to us in
Holy Communion.

HAVE YOU EVER ASKED JESUS?
Father Aloysius Ellacuria, the founder of the Missionaries of Perpetual
Adoration, had a young mother come to him in the early 1970’s, her eyes
filled with tears, an aching body filled with cancer, and little time to
live.

He took her into the chapel asking her, “Have you ever asked Jesus to
cure you?” “No,” she replied. “Well,” he said, “Let us kneel down right
here in front of the Most Blessed Sacrament, and let us ask Our Lord to cure
you.”

“You know Jesus is really present in the Most Blessed Sacrament; do you
really believe that?” “Yes,” she promptly replied. Father continued, “Our
Lord is the same as He Who walked on this earth 2000 years ago; and He
blessed the sick and healed the sick. Do you really believe that He is the
same Lord Who is living here in the Most Blessed Sacrament?” “Yes, I do,”
was her pain-filled response. “Well, He cured them and He can cure you.”

Together they prayed a series of “Our Fathers, Hail Mary’s and Glory
Be’s.” After three of each the startled woman said: “Father, I don’t think
it is necessary for us to go on – I feel healed!”

The next day X-rays were taken by an astonished doctor who said: “All
the cells that were attacked by the cancer are now like the cells of a
new-born baby.”

BEGUN IN DISOBEDIENCE
The practice of Communion in the hand was first introduced in Belgium by
Cardinal Suenens in disobedience to the rubrics of the Holy See. Not wishing
to publicly rebuke a brother bishop, Pope Paul VI decided to lift the ban
prohibiting Communion in the hand, leaving the decision to individual
bishops. The late Cardinal Joseph Bernardin, then president of the United
States NCCB, initiated two unsuccessful attempts to introduce Communion in
the hand in 1975 and 1976. In the spring of 1977, the bishops’ vote again
fell short of the required two-thirds majority. Nevertheless, for the first
time ever bishops in absentia were polled by mail after the conference
meeting; subsequently the necessary votes materialized and the measure was
declared passed. Several canon lawyers have stated categorically that this
procedure was illegal. An interview with Bishop Blanchette in the National
Catholic Register (June 12, 1977) confirms that Communion in the hand was
unlawfully introduced into the United States. Fr. John Hardon likewise has
affirmed the fact that retired and dying bishops were polled to make sure
the measure for Communion in the hand would be passed.

REAL WORLD, REAL ABUSES
The greater a person’s charity is, the more he is compelled to speak what he
knows to be true. If someone truly loves his neighbor, it is painful for him
to see him deprived of truth. And so it is with our heavenly Mother, the
Blessed Virgin Mary. Her love for us exceeds all mortals and even our own
parents, for Her love is supernatural and without equal, save that of God
Himself. Therefore, She would have Her children “walking in truth” (3 John
4), in the path of the Church and the Commandments, and Our Lady will not
fail to warn Her children when their means of salvation, the Catholic faith,
is under attack. Right now, the summit of our Catholic faith, Our Lord Jesus
Christ present in the Sacrament of Love, the Holy Eucharist, is under daily
attack. The indult of Communion in the hand has opened a major door to
numerous acts of irreverence and sacrilege. Years ago, when Communion in the
hand was beginning to rear its ugly head in the United States, a group of
concerned Ca

WHEN I WHINE

Today, upon a bus, I saw a girl with golden hair. and wished I was as
fair. When suddenly she rose to leave, I saw her hobble down the aisle.
She had one leg and wore a crutch. But as she passed, a smile.

Oh, God, forgive me when I whine. I have 2 legs, the world is mine.

I stopped to buy some candy. The lad who sold it had such charm. I
talked with him, he seemed so glad. If I were late, it'd do no harm. And
as I left, he said to me, "I thank you, you've been so kind. It's nice
to talk with folks like you. You see," he said, "I'm blind."

Oh, God, forgive me when I whine. I have 2 eyes, the world is mine.

Later while walking down the street, I saw a child with eyes of blue. He
stood and watched the others play. He did not know what to do. I stopped
a moment and then I said, "Why don't you join the others, dear?" He
looked ahead without a word. And then I knew, he couldn't hear.

Oh, God, forgive me when I whine. I have 2 ears, the world is mine.

With feet to take me where I'd go. With eyes to see the sunset's glow.
With ears to hear what I'd know. Oh, God, forgive me when I whine. I've
been blessed indeed, the world is mine.

~ Author Unknown ~

If this poem makes you feel like I felt - just forward it to all your
friends - after all; it's just a simple reminder that we have so-o-o
much to be Thankful for!!!

HAVE A BLESSED DAY!

[JOYnet] A Christian Response to Terrorism

2001-09-11 Thread lyann dandge

>Dear Friends>
>This is the most difficult day of my life. That apparent terrorist attacks
>could bring such death and destruction to unsuspecting people is absolutely
>unthinkable. Yet the numbers of the dead and wounded from these attacks
>will be extraordinary.
>
>In the midst of our stunned disbelief, as Christians we must respond
>appropriately. How are we to do so? Here's what I glean from God's Word.
>
>First, trust God fully and solely. Psalm 119:114, "You are my hiding place
>and my shield; I hope in Your word." God has proven Himself to be
>trustworthy in the past; He can be trusted now.
>
>Second, have courage in the face of tragedy. "Be strong and of good
>courage...Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed,
>for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go" (Joshua 1:5-7,9). This
>is the time for our nation to be strong, and Christians are the strength of
>our nation.
>
>Third, as Christians we have both the privilege and the responsibility to
>pray. The situation is serious, but God is strong. "Call to Me, and I will
>answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know"
>(Jeremiah 33:3).
>
>Here are some prayer points:
>
>* the victims and families of the World Trade Center attack
>
>* the victims of other apparent terrorist attacks throughout the country
>
>* the President and his aides as they formulate a response
>
>* the response of Christians who minister to those who hurt
>
>Fourth, don't give up hope. The psalmist asked, "Why are you cast down, O
>my soul? And why are you disquieted within me?" and then he responded,
>"Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him" (Psalm 43:5).
>
>God is in control. Trust Him and pray without ceasing. Hope in God.
>
>By His Grace,
>

>WHAT A LIFE WHAT A WORLD WITHOUT GOD
>
>You come into the world without your consent
>and leave it against your will.
>In between, you are constantly being
>misunderstood, mistaken and misjudged.
>If you have a wife and family, you are a fool;
>If a bachelor, you are ridiculed.
>If you have brains, you are considered dishonest;
>If you have none, you are branded useless.
>If you enter a bar, you are a drunkard;
>If you don't you are a coward.
>If you go to temple, you are a hypocrite;
>If you stay away, you are a sinner.
>If you give to charity, you are a self-advertiser;
>If you don't you are a miser.
>If you die young, you had a great future before you;
>If you live to a ripe old age, you have outlived your time.
>When you come into the world, everybody wants to kiss you;
>before you go out, everybody wants to kick you.
>BUT IN EVERY CIRCUMSTANCE OF OUR LIFE WE HAVE JESUS WITH US, FOR US AND HE
WILL ALWAYS BE WITHUS,WHETHER PEOPLE REDICULE US OR KICK US. WITH JESUS IN
YOUR BOAT U CAN SMILE IN THE STORM.
