Dear my frieds When we think about Lenten fasting, what would be first coming up in our mind, yes, ofcourse, will give up meat, milk, fish, egg for the season, isn't it ? OR avoid a food for one time in a day, I think most probably next time will eat double, to cover-up the previously avoided food (including me), right ? Yesterday, When I was coming back after our weekly prayer group meeting in Al Quoz, I was alone, suddenly Jennifer's mail come to my mind, I was thinking, about my lenten fasting. I do fasting, but, what I am doing, some times I am speaking to others with angry, OR blaming others and laughing at them with friends, OR discouraging others through our talks and avoing others, OR complaining about friends or colleges. Did you think what would be the outcome of my fasting ? you can say in one word, nothing. I just lost my helth for nothing, and earned only the sin by hurting others, Isn't I think it is right that Jennifer said, our fastings should also be from anger, judging / blaming / complaining others, but can increase our love towards others whom it is really needs. And I remember the word of God which we read for Tuesday (11.03.03 - Generosity) Give, and it will be given you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap; for the measure you give will be the measure your get back. My friend raised me a question, but I do not know the answer, therefore I seek your answer on this. _ i have a doubt.. y is tht we SM have Ash Monday and the Latins have Ash Wednesday y'day one friend who goes to Latin church asked me y u SM christians have Ash Monday instead of Ash Wednesday i said to her that fasting starts with the starting of the week... and i told her sunday is the starting of the week but since it is the Lord's day.. after midnight the fasting starts tht was an escape answer for the time being which i gave. but.. i want to know the exact answer i asked my friend.. if we count the no. days for fasting from Ash Wednesday it comes to 45 days.. to which she said that in olden days sunday was not counted for fasting.. but was feasting day... so if we excluded the 5 sundays.. it comes to 40 days and we SM christians have 50 days while the others say 40 days fast... y the difference i counted the days from Ash Monday to Good friday and it comes to 47days.. then y it is said ambadh noyambh (50 days fasting)... Forwarded message A lesson for every salaried employee A butcher watching over his shop is really surprised when he sees a dog coming inside the shop. He shoos him away. But later, the dog is back again. So, he goes over to the dog and notices it has a note in its mouth. He takes the note and it reads Can I have 12 sausages and a leg of lamb, please. The dog has money in its mouth, as well. The butcher looks inside and, loand behold, there is a ten dollar note there. So he takes the money and puts the sausages and lamb in a bag, placing it in the dog's mouth. The butcher is so impressed, and since it's about closing time, he decides to shut the shop and follow the dog. So off he goes. The dog is walking down the street, when it comes to a level crossing, the dog puts down the bag, jumps up and presses the button. Then it waits patiently, bag in mouth, for the lights to turn. They do, and it walks across the road, with the butcher following him all the way. The dog then comes to a bus stop, and starts looking at the timetable. The butcher is in awe as the dog stops a bus by pulling its left leg up and gets in it. The butcher follows the dog into the bus. The dog then shows a ticket which is tied to its belt to the bus conductor.The butcher is nearly fainting at this sight, so are the other passengers in the bus. The dog then sits near the driver's seat looking outside waiting for the bus stop to come. As soon as the stop is in sight, the dog stands and wags its tail to inform the conductor. Then, without waiting for the bus to stop completely, it jumps out of the bus and runs to a house very close to the stop. It opens the big iron gate and rushes inside towards the door. As it approaches the wooden door, the dog suddenly changes its mind and heads towards the garden. It goes to the window, and beats its head against it several times, walks back, jumps off, and waits at the door. The butcher watches as a big guy opens the door, and starts abusing the dog, kicking him and punching him, and swearing at him. The butcher surprised with this, runs up, and stops the guy. What in heaven's name are you doing? The dog is a genius. He could be on TV, for the life of me!, to which the guy responds: You call this clever? This is the second time this week that this stupid dog's forgotten his key. Moral of the story . Dear Friends Simplicity in my view I agree with Ravi that the simplicity is not important in the externals, but actually it is too. isn't it ? simple life shows (1). respect others as we do our parents (2). just say hello and how are you whenever we see our old friends or aquinted persons in our life (3). speak with polite (4). smile from innocent heart (5). do not hurt others in any way (6). There was a tree in her neibhours Courtyard but all it's branches were on our grandma's courtyard's side, and falling it's leaves daily. Grandma was very angry on her neigbour because of this. Once Grandma had an opportunity to participate a retreat, and the talks were mostly on 'forgiveness' and 'faith'. Grandma was remembering the word of LORD that Have faith in God. Truly I tell you, if you say to this mountain, 'Be taken up and throw into the sea', and if you do not doubt in your heart, but believe that what you say will come to pass, it will be done for you. So Grandma decide that she will ask in the name of Jesus to shift this tree's all baranches to other side. Morning she went to church, and prayed to God, when she back home, she should see that tree's all branches in other side. She came from church with very anxious and saw tree is remaining same as before. Grandma said, I knew it before, nothing is going to happen. Ya I had a small experience on this matter. My roomate went on leave and Camp Boss put another guy there. [JOYnet] Ecumenical Malayalee Christmas Carols
A Joint Ecumenical Malayalee Christmas Carols service has taken place on 23rd of December evening 8.30 to 10:45 at Jebel Ali Catholic Church, Dubai. Catholic, Syrian Orthodox and Marthoma Churches were participated this fuction. Fr. john declared that since the idea came up, these churches were took very much interest to fulfill their plan, and received good cooperation from everybody. Chief guest was His Grace Mathews Mar Evaneos, and given the very good spiritual message. Bishop was saying that there is some problems between the churches, but we have to come up out of this boundary, because our aim is one, but are going different ways. Each churches were sung three songs each, as well as Bible Readings. Rev. Fr. Thomas George, Rev. Fr. Varghese and His Grace Methews Mar Evaneos from Marthoma Chuch,,, Rev. Fr. Prince Mookanottile from Syrian Orthodox Church,,, and Rev. Fr. John Fernandez and Rev. Fr. Cornardo from Catholic Church were present for the function.
