[JOYnet] miracle at MASCOM

2003-03-28 Thread Tina
dear joynetters,

another miracle has happened at MASCOM! at least for me it was. it goes this
way. i needed an extension of the deadline for my project, which i am
supposed to submit today. that's because i was subbing for our lab paper
here . subbing includes laying out the page and correcting all mistakes. it
takes 2 days for us to do that. so you are left with very little time for
anything else and my project needs a lot of investigation.

i had to ask my principal if i wanted an extension and i'm terrified of him
( for some inexplicable reason). so before entering the room, i prayed to
Mother Mary: Look i'm real scared, so please help me out and don't make him
say no.

i went him and asked if i could have an extension. he just looked up at me
and said okay. i was truly amazed. i was expecting a thoruogh questioning
as to why i hadn't done it and a lot of scolding. it just goes to show you
how our Mother helps even the worst of the worst (implying me) if they pray
for just a second.
Praise God

Re: [JOYnet] Re: Living Generosity

2003-03-16 Thread Tina Jose
Hi!

Bincy, I know just what your grandma was like, coz' my grandma was the same.
I have never seen her, but I got to know her through my mom. Mom always
tells me about her. So though I have never seen her, I know everything about
her. To me she is an intellectual.
She never owned more than a single sari. If someone gave her a new one, she
would immediately give the old one away to a poor woman. She taught my mom
and her siblings how to pray. Mom says she scolded them if they didn't pray
aloud and clear.
Mom told me that she lost her eyesight by reading. In those days, she could
only read by the light of the oil lamp. She passed on what she read to her
children. And guess what she read? The lives of saints.
Mom reminisces and tells me that under her mother's pillow (grandma), she
would always find a little money, a rosary and a prayer book.
I know my grandma had to endure a lot, much more than anyone her age,
especially since my grandpa was famous for his hot-temper. But grandma was
as patient as ever. She was known for her wisdom, understanding,
spirituality and kindness.
My mom has received some of these traits though she doesn't concede to the
fact and she's trying to pass them on to me. But I must tell you, I haven't
been very good at learning from her.
To all those wonderful grandmas and moms in the world - a big thank you for
making us what we are today.

Hi friends,

when i first read Sindhu's email about what the old granny had taught
her, i couldn't help but remember my grandmother (my mom's mom). she
passed away 7 years ago but not a day goes by that my family nor i don't
remember or speak about her... she was a wonderful, loving woman who had
a tremendously GENEROUS heart!!! she gave unconditionally all that she
had and she never looked at who she was giving to or what she was giving
but as long as there was a person who needed her help, she just gave
freely there was no limit or boundaries to her sharing-- she gave
whatever was asked of her--her time, talents, her love, her compassion,
her very self

my grandmother was very blessed not only to be able to raise her children
but she was involved in the lives of ALL of her grandchildren at some
point or another and we her grandchildren were blessed to be close to her
and to see her carry out her faith in her words and actions!!! i lived
with my grandma and grandpa and my mom's younger brother and sister for 3
years in Kerala. this was a very early period of my life and i was
between the ages of 3-6. even though i was young, many memories stick out
in mind of that time...

my mom's house in Ettumanoor is on top of a huge hill... we had just
enough to meet our daily needs but all of our neighbors were very poor
and struggling just for food, water and the bare necessities.. my
grandparents actually allowed our well to be the neighborhood well where
everyone could draw the water for all their needs and our pond was the
neighborhood hot spot for all bathing and washing and town news... my
grandparents also gave part of their land free to this one family who
basically had nothing and even gave them the means to build a small house
on our property and supported this family and their children till they
got married...but all these generous acts were initiated by my grandma. i
remember that the kitchen was her territory and as soon as the sun rose,
it was filled with all the ladies of the area (chadithee mara)..it was
where they shared their lives, their struggles, their hopes for their
families.. there was always someone there with my grandma till the sun
set.. she would teach them about Jesus and the Bible (she was not very
educated but she shared the little things she knew or heard at the homily
or from someone--kitchen evangelization), she would give them rosaries
and prayer books... all the ladies would help my grandma with the cooking
and she would give them the best part of the dishes to take to their
families and we ended up with the leftovers (now since i was her first
granddaughter and since i was left there by my parents, i always got my
share and so did my grandpa but my uncle and aunt were not so lucky and
were not so happy with her at times..sometimes b/c of how much my grandma
gave, she would go to bed on an empty stomach).. if someone needed money,
she just gave without thinking if she had any left for her family (it was
not like we were rich or anything but she knew that God would
provide)...one thing as a child that i remember is an incident in which i
was not happy with her...my mom had given my grandma a beautiful gold
necklace and i think this was the only jewelry she had and wore and i was
so happy to see it on her b/c my mom had given it to her...she ended up
giving it to someone so they could sell it and receive the money from the
sale and i was so

Re: [JOYnet] Testimony - The power of Rosary - similar experience

2003-03-05 Thread Tina Jose
HI!
Just like Prejomy, I too had a wonderful experience yesterday. As you must
know, there was a private bus strike and I am the last person you'd find on
a KSRTC bus, simply because whenever I get into one I always end up in the
wrong place.
But since I had to attend class ( being journalism students mean that you've
got to reach the institute no matter what, and once I was forced to walk the
entire 3 kilometers), I was forced to get up from my warm bed and leave. At
the bus stop I waited for 5 minutes, then 10 minutes, and still no bus. My
first thoughts were about my principal who would scold me if I arrived after
him.
Then I remembered how people had told me to pray to Mother Mary when in
trouble. My cousin had told me recently about the relevance of praying to
our Mother, and I remembered all that. In those few seconds, I recalled too,
the time when, at a conference my uncle had suddenly disappeared. I
remembering his words, had begun saying Hail Marys, when lo and behold.. he
was there in front of me, like magic.
So I started praying, and after just one Hail Mary, the right bus arrived
and actually stopped for me. I even got a seat.
The bus took me to the private bus stand that I had to photograph for our
lab paper. the deadline was 8 and I had only ten minutes more. after taking
the pictures, I waited for another bus. There were only a few minutes left
and I started praying to my Mother. She immediately she send another bus And
I reached my institute a few minutes after 8. But again she was with me, coz
I found that only 3 others had arrived and there was no sight of my
principal.
I can't tell you how happy I was. The principals's deadline was at 2 , but I
was able to submit my story just before 10, despite the fact that we had a
power shortage in between that prevented me from taking a printout.
So, my friends, the miniscule experiences that I had just prove my point -
When in trouble, to Mary on the double.

Subject: [JOYnet] Testimony - The power of Rosary

Dear friends,

I would like to narrate a small incident happened to me last week.

Before that; a few weeks ago, I had to attend an important meting with our
client. As usual (for me), I was late for the meeting. For that, I got a lot

of scolding from my Boss. Its previous night, I had a nasty dream and the
very next day it came to be true.

Last week also, I had a crucial progress meeting where I have had to produce

certain reports. The day just before the meeting, I prepared all the reports

but made some mistakes where I was not able to rectify it. I was sure that
Ill be scolded enough and was not sure how to succumb the situation.

That night too, I had the same dream as before. Jesus gave me the clear sign

that I will be scolded. Hence, immediately I woke up (it was around 04.00
AM) and started reciting a rosary. After it, mother Mary told me that shell

take care of all and I lay again peacefully. At that time, she revealed me
where I made the mistake.

And, in the morning when I was in my Personal prayer, I got a comforting
telephone call from my mummy which is quite unusual on early morning. I felt

it was an additional surety that mother Mary gave me. I praised Jesus for
helping me in such a wonderful way.

In the morning, I went to the office, and was able to rectify all the
mistakes before the meeting.

Here I realized once again that Rosary and Praise can overturn anything.

Praise God.

With lots of Love prayers in Jesus

[JOYnet] good story

2003-02-28 Thread Tina
DO YOU SMELL THE RAIN...PAMMIEROSE

This is a wonderful story I found on the web. I hope you like it as much as
I did.

Tina

I didn't write this story, but it touched me so, I had to share it. It's
long, but well worth the time to read. Have your kleenex ready.

A cold March wind danced around the dead of night in Dallas as the Doctor
walked into the small hospital room of Diana Blessing. Still groggy from
surgery, her husband David held her hand as they braced themselves for the
latest news.

That afternoon of March 10,1991, complications had forced Diana, only
24-weeks pregnant, to undergo an emergency cesarean to deliver the couple's
new daughter,

Danae Lu Blessing. At 12 inches long and weighing only one pound and nine
ounces, they already knew she was perilously premature. Still, the doctor's
soft words dropped like bombs. 'I don't think she's going to make it', he
said, as kindly as he could There's only a 10-percent chance she will live
through the night, and even then, if by some slim chance she does make it,
her future could be a very cruel one. Numb with disbelief, David and Diana
listened as the doctor described the devastating problems Danae would likely
face if she survived. She would never walk, she would never talk, she would
probably be blind, and she would certainly be prone to other catastrophic
conditions from cerebral palsy to complete mental retardation, and on and on
No! No! was all Diana could say. She and David, with their 5-year-old son
Dustin, had long dreamed of the day they would have a daughter to become a
family of four. Now, within a matter of hours, that dream was slipping away.

Through the dark hours of morning as Danae held onto life by the thinnest
thread, Diana slipped in and out of sleep, growing more and more determined
that their tiny daughter would live-and live to be a healthy, happy young
girl. But David, fully awake and listening to additional dire details of
their daughter's chances of ever leaving the hospital alive, much less
healthy, knew he must confront his wife with the inevitable David walked in
and said that we needed to talk about making funeral arrangements. Diana
remembers 'I felt so bad for him because he was doing everything, trying to
include me in what was going on but just wouldn't listen, I couldn't listen.
I said, No, that is not going to happen no way! I don't care what the
doctors say; Danae is not going to die! One day she will be just fine, and
she will be coming home with us! As if willed to live by Diana's
determination, Danae clung to life hour after hour, with the help of every
medical machine and marvel her miniature body could endure.

But as those first days passed, anew agony set in for David and Diana.
Because Danae's underdeveloped nervous system was essentially 'raw,' the
lightest kiss or caress only intensified her discomfort, so they couldn't
even cradle their tiny baby girl against their chests to offer the strhe
strength of their love All they could do, as Danae struggled alone beneath
the ultraviolet light in the tangle of and wires, was to pray that God would
stay close to their precious little girl.

There was never a moment when Danae suddenly grew stronger. But as the weeks
went by, she did slowly gain an ounce of weight here and an ounce of
strength there.

At last, when Danae turned two months old, her parents were able to hold her
in their arms for the very first time. And two months later-though doctors
continued to gently but grimly warn that her chances of surviving, much less
living any kind of normal life, were next to zero. Danae went home from the
hospital just as her mother had predicted.

Today, five years later, Danae is a petite but feisty young girl with
glittering gray eyes and an unquenchable zest for life. She shows no signs,
what so ever, of any mental or physical impairment. Simply, she is
everything a little girl can be andmore-but that happy ending is far from
the end of her story.

One blistering afternoon in the summer of 1996 near her home in IrvingTexas,
Danae was sitting in her mother's lap in the bleachers of a local ballpark
where her brother Dustin's baseball team was practicing. As always, Danae
was chattering nonstop with her mother and several other adults sitting
nearby when she suddenly fell silent. Hugging her arms across her chest,
Danae asked, Do you smell that? Smelling the air and detecting the
approach of a thunderstorm, Diana replied, Yes, it smells like rain Danae
closed her eyes and again asked, Do you smell that? Once again, her mother
replied, Yes, I think we're about to get wet, it smells like rain.

Still caught in the moment, Danae shook her head, patted her thin shoulders
with her small hands and loudly announced No, it smells like him. It smells
like God when you lay your head on his chest. Tears blurred Diana's eyes as
Danae then happily hopped down to play with the other children.

Before the rains

[JOYnet] love

2003-02-20 Thread Tina
Dear Joynetters,
I had sent this mail to Deepak on the topic love and I thought I should sent
this to you too, as we are discussing the topic of love.
Tina
(Journalism student, Kottayam)
***
Delight yourself in the Lord and
He will give you the desires of your heart.
-Psalm 37:4
Everyone longs to give themselves completely to someone. To have a deep soul
relationship with another, to be loved thoroughly and exclusively. But to a
Christian, God says no. Not until you're satisfied and fulfilled and content
unreservedly to me alone. I do love you my child, and until you discover
that only in Me is your satisfaction to be found, you will not be capable of
the perfect human relationship that I have planned for you. You will never
be united with another until you are united with Me, exclusive of any other
desires or longings.
I want you to stop planning, stop wishing, and allow Me to bring it to you.
You just keep watching Me, expecting the greatest things. Keep experiencing
the satisfaction of knowing that I am. Keep learning and listening to the
things I tell you. You must wait. Don't be anxious. Don't
worry. Don't look around at the things that others have gotten or that I've
given them. Don't look around at the things that you think you want. Just
keep looking off and away up to Me, or
you'll miss what I want to show you.
And when you're ready, I'll surprise you with a love far more wonderful than
any would ever dream of. You see, until you are ready and until the one I
have for you is ready, until you are both satisfied exclusively with Me and
the life I have planned for you, you won't be able to experience the love
that exemplifies your relationship with Me, and is thus perfect love. I am
working even this minute, to have both of you ready at the same time. And
dear child, I want you to have the most wonderful love. I want you to see in
the flesh a picture of your own relationship with Me, and to enjoy
materially and concretely the everlasting union of beauty and perfection
that I offer you with Myself.
KNOW THAT I LOVE YOU. I AM ALMIGHTY GOD. BELIEVE AND BE SATISFIED.

[JOYnet] Fw: read this, please!

2003-02-11 Thread Tina Jose
A foward from one of my friends.

Tina

Today’s reading: Judges 8: 28
Thus Midian was subdued before the children of Israel, so that they lifted
their heads no more. And the country was quiet for forty years in the days
of Gideon.
The word ‘Gideon’ means ‘Feller’. To understand that word, we can take an
example from wrestling. The winner is the one who fells his opponent. Today,
God is going to fell our enemy and we will get a peace like we have never
experienced before. Today’s message is for those who have fallen down and
God wants to lift you up.
The Israelites was brought out of the slavery of Egypt and wandered in the
wilderness for 40 years because of their disobedience. Joshua led them into
the Promised Land – a land flowing with milk and honey. But they forgot
about the God Who saved them. They started worshipping the gods of the
people of the land. God punished them and then they cried unto Him. God
heard their cries and sent judges to deliver them from the enemy.
The story is found in the book of Judges. The first judge was Othniel. Read
Judges 3: 9 ‘When the children of Israel cried out to the Lord, the Lord
raised up a deliverer for the children of Israel, who delivered them:
Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother.’
In Judges 3: 15, we come across the second judge – Ehud. ‘But when the
children of Israel cried out to the Lord, the Lord raised up a deliverer for
them: Ehud the son of Gera, the Benjamite, a left-handed man. By him the
children of Israel sent tribute to Eglon king of Moab.’
The cycle carried on. God would deliver the Israelites – they would forsake
Him – God punished them – they cried out to Him and then He would raise a
judge and deliver them.
It was very similar to our current lives. When God blesses us in finance,
family and children, we tend to stray away from God. Then God punishes us to
get our attention. We cry out and again He delivers us. E.g. when the son
goes abroad and sends in huge drafts, the father forgets about God and lives
life lavishly. Then one day there is a phone call when he comes to know that
his son had a pain in his chest. It lasted only for two minutes but the
person is no more. And again the cries go out.
The third judge was Shamgar. We read about him in Judges 3: 31 ‘After him
was Shamgar the son of Anath, who killed six hundred men of the Philistines
with an ox goad; and he also delivered Israel.’
Fourth – Judges 4: 4 ‘Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, was
judging Israel at that time.’
If man does not do what he is supposed to, God will raise certain women with
His power. God speaks that He is going to raise certain women filled with
His power in this city in the year 2003 – 04.
The fifth judge is the main character we faced today. Read Judges 6: 11 ‘Now
the Angel of the Lord came and sat under the terebinth tree which was in
Ophrah, which belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, while his son Gideon threshed
wheat in the winepress, in order to hide it from the Midianites.’
All the other judges were raised up but Gideon was already standing when the
Angel of the Lord went to him.
When you study the topography of Israel, you will see that threshing of
wheat is normally done in the valleys and the winepresses are found on the
hilltops. In fact there is no need to thresh the wheat on the mountaintop
but Gideon wanted to protect the little he had.
There is a God who blesses the one who wants to protect the little that he’s
got. God’s laws have a standard just like nature’s laws. Water will always
fall from up to down because of gravitational force. A coconut will not go
up from the tree because of the gravitational force. If a man stays wet for
long, he will catch fever because of his body reaction. In the same way, God
blesses the man who works.
Many of us will pray for hours but will not move a little finger to get the
work done. Remember prayer is not a substitute for work. Don’t expect God to
bless you if you just keep praying without any action. God expects you to
work and when you reach a point where you can’t go on, it is then that God
will come and work for you.
Yesterday at a meeting in my office, I asked the sub-convenor what was his
plan of action for a conference that was coming up recently. He said he had
none. He said he was just going to handle issues as they came.
Even a thief who has planned his robbery will get away with his loot safely.
God wants us to work and blesses those who do.
When the Angel of the Lord came to Gideon, he was already standing up. God
had heard the cries of the people of Israel and decided to help them. But
how was He going to help?
Read Judges 6: 12 And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him, and said to him
“The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor!”
If you work, God is definitely going to work for you. The Holy Spirit speaks
that if you work today and tomorrow, God is going to bless you the day after
That is, if you work for 24/48 hours, God is going to bless you after that.

Prayer for the terrorists http://jesusyouth.org/joynet/dec20.html

Here's a wonderful story that I came across. Hope it touches you as much as
it touched me.
Tina

Bobby was getting cold sitting out in his back yard in the snow. Bobby didn
t wear boots; he didn't like them and anyway he didn't own any. The thin
sneakers he wore had a few holes in them and they did a poor job of keeping
out the cold. Bobby had been in his backyard for about an hour already. And,
try as he might, he could not come up with an idea for his mother's
Christmas gift.

He shook his head as he thought, This is useless, even if I do come up with
an idea, I don't have any money to spend,

Ever since his father had passed away three years ago, the family of five
had struggled. It wasn't because his mother didn't care, or try, there just
never seemed to be enough. She worked nights at the hospital, but the small
wage that she was earning could only be stretched so far. What the family
lacked in money and material things, they more than made up for in love and
family unity. Bobby had two older and one younger sister, who ran the house
hold in their mother's absence. All three of his sisters had already made
beautiful gifts for their mother.

Somehow it just wasn't fair. Here it was Christmas Eve already, and he had
nothing. Wiping a tear from his eye, Bobby kicked the snow and started to
walk down to the street where the shops and stores were. It wasn't easy
being six without a father, especially when he needed a man to talk to.

Bobby walked from shop to shop, looking into each decorated window.
Everything seemed so beautiful and so out of reach. It was starting to get
dark and Bobby reluctantly turned to walk home when suddenly his eyes caught
the glimmer of the setting sun's rays reflecting off of something along the
curb. He reached down and discovered a shiny dime. Never before has anyone
felt so wealthy as Bobby felt at that moment.

As he held his new found treasure, a warmth spread throughout his entire
body and he walked into the first store he saw. His excitement quickly
turned cold when the salesperson told him that he couldn't buy anything with
only a dime.

He saw a flower shop and went inside to wait in line. When the shop owner
asked if he could help him, Bobby presented the dime and asked if he could
buy one flower for his mother's Christmas gift.

The shop owner looked at Bobby and his ten cent offering. Then he put his
hand on Bobby's shoulder and said to him, You just wait here and I'll see
what I can do for you.

As Bobby waited he looked at the beautiful flowers and even though he was a
boy, he could see why mothers and girls liked flowers.

The sound of the door closing as the last customer left jolted Bobby back to
reality. All alone in the shop, Bobby began to feel alone and afraid.
Suddenly the shop owner came out and moved to the counter. There, before
Bobby's eyes, lay twelve long stem, red roses, with leaves of green and tiny
white flowers all tied together with a big silver bow. Bobby's heart sank as
the owner picked them up and placed them gently into a long white box.

That will be ten cents young man, the shop owner said reaching out his
hand for the dime. Slowly, Bobby moved his hand to give the man his dime.

Could this be true? No one else would give him a thing for his dime!

Sensing the boy's reluctance, the shop owner added, I just happened to have
some roses on sale for ten cents a dozen. Would you like them?

This time Bobby did not hesitate, and when the man placed the long box into
his hands, he knew it was true. Walking out the door that the owner was
holding for Bobby, he heard the shop keeper say, Merry Christmas, son,

As he returned inside, the shop keeper's wife walked out. Who were you
talking to back there and where are the roses you were fixing?

Staring out the window, and blinking the tears from his own eyes, he replied
A strange thing happened to me this morning. While I was setting up things
to open the shop, I thought I heard a voice telling me to set aside a dozen
of my best roses for a special gift. I wasn't sure at the time whether I had
lost my mind or what, but I set them aside anyway. Then just a few minutes
ago, a little boy came into the shop and wanted to buy a flower for his
mother with one small dime.

When I looked at him, I saw myself, many years ago. I too, was a poor boy
with nothing to buy my mother a Christmas gift. A bearded man, whom I never
knew, stopped me on the street and told me that he wanted to give me ten
dollars.

When I saw that little boy tonight, I knew who that voice was, and I put
together a dozen of my very best roses. The shop owner and his wife hugged
each other tightly, and as they stepped out into the bitter cold air, they
somehow didn't feel cold at all.

[JOYnet] hi

2002-12-14 Thread Tina
Hi!

My name's Tina and I joined joynet only two weeks ago.

Right now, I'm studying at MASCOM (Manorama School of Communication). I'm
part of the first batch of this new journalism school.

As part of our work we have to release newspapers every week that go to
various journalism schools across the country and around the world. This
year I was the editor of our paper and I just thought that I should share my
experiences with you.

I know the Spirit was working in me the entire week because I was a very
different person throughout. I faced more than a fair share of obstacles,
but through it all He was there to help me.

For the editorial; conference that we have, i had no idea what my reporters
were offering. Usually the editor knows what is coming so that they can make
a decision before hand. But I had a terrible setback and yet the conference
went well. My best friend prayed while the session was on and everything was
fine.

The night before the news story deadline, I found that 3 of the 5 reporters
still had problems with their stories. my usually tendency is to break down.
But there I was, actually comforting a reporter and trying to get her
another story at 8 pm!

During the editing period, The editor of the Malayalam version ( I'm for
English) got all her ads ready way before i did. Again my usual reaction
would be to panic. But not this time. I took my time to get the ads ready.
And believe it or not, everyone loved it coz' they were different, new and
good.

Friday was the paper's deadline( we are given a week to bring out the paper)
The other editor had it all ready and printed out form the computer. But
mine wasn't still out even by 2 pm, the deadline being 4 pm.

The other reporters were anxious because we believe a lot in team work and
bringing it out on time. i went about as cool as a cucumber, actually
comforting them, when I should have actually been worried. I kept reassuring
my 2 sub-editors (who do the layout of the page) that they had time till
3:45 to do their work. one of them had done it, but the other still wanted
to go on. But the paper was in the principal's hands before 4. Praise the
lord!!

Everyone loved the paper and i think some people were even envious. But my
team of 8 was proud of the paper.

I know I didn't do anything coz' Jesus was looking over it all. Through it
all, He was there watching over it all and nudging me along. I've asked him
why and he says he has send me here with a purpose. Gee, what would I do
without Him?

Anyway, that was one of the best experiences of my life when I felt the
fullness of God's love encompassing me. Without Him constantly behind me, I
would never have made it through. the confidence that He gave me was beyond
all my wildest dreams. I just want you to remember that there's a wonderful
sweetheart up there for you and me.

Regards
Tina

PS: I you know of any JY who are journalists will you tell me? I was wondering
if there are people in the same profession as i am gonna be in.
