[JOYnet] The Heart

2002-08-14 Thread Varghese N S

Subject: FW: The Heart
Date: Tue, 23 Jul 2002 09:26:28 -0700

Tomorrow morning, the surgeon began,
I'll open up your heart...

You'll find Jesus
there, the boy interrupted.

The surgeon looked up, annoyed I'll

cut your heart open, he continued,

to see how much damage has been done...

But when you open up my heart, you'll
find Jesus in there, said the boy.

The surgeon looked to the parents, who
sat quietly. When I see how much
damage has been done, I'll sew your
heart and chest back up, and I'll plan
 what to do next.

But you'll find Jesus in my heart. The
Bible says He lives there. The
hymns all say He lives there. You'll
 find Him in my heart.

The surgeon had had enough. I'll tell
you what I'll find in your heart.
I'll find damaged muscle, low blood
 supply, and weakened vessels.
And I'll find out if I can make you well.

You'll find Jesus there too. He lives
 there.

 The surgeon left.

The surgeon sat in his office, recording
   his
notes from the surgery, ...damaged aorta,
 damaged
 pulmonary vein, widespread muscle
degeneration.
No hope for transplant, no hope for cure.
Therapy:
 painkillers and bed rest. Prognosis:,
here he paused, death within one year.

He stopped the recorder, but there was
more to be said. Why? he asked aloud.
Why did You do this? You've put
him here; You've put him in this pain; and

You've cursed him to an early death. Why?

The Lord answered and said, The boy,
My lamb, was not meant for your
flock for long, for he is a part of My
 flock, and will forever be.
Here, in My flock, he will feel no
pain,and
will be comforted as you cannot imagine.
His parents will one day join him here,
and they will know peace, and
My flock will continue to grow.

The surgeon's tears were hot, but his
anger was hotter. You created that
boy, and You created that heart. He'll
 be dead in months. Why?

The Lord answered, The boy, My lamb,
shall return to My flock, for He has
Done his duty: I did not put My lamb
with your flock to lose him, but to
  retrieve another lost
lamb.

The surgeon wept. The surgeon sat
beside the boy's bed; the boy's
parents sat across from him. The boy awoke
 and whispered, Did you cut
open my heart?

 Yes, said the surgeon.
What did you find? asked the boy.

I found Jesus there, said the
 surgeon.

[JOYnet] The 7 ups

2002-08-13 Thread Varghese N S

Sent: Tuesday, August 13, 2002 8:55 AM
Subject: Thought-13/08/2002

  The 7 ups

1. Wake Up !!
Decide to have a good day.
Today is the day the Lord hath made; let us rejoice and be glad
in it.

Psalms 118:24

2. Dress Up !!
The best way to dress up is to put on a smile.
A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.
The Lord does not look at the things man looks at.
Man looks at outward appearance; but the Lord looks at the
heart.
I Samuel 16:7

3. Shut Up!!
Say nice things and learn to listen.
God gave us two ears and one mouth, so He must have meant for us
to do
twice as much listening as talking.
He who guards his lips guards his soul.
Proverbs 13:3

4. Stand Up!!...
For what you believe in.
Stand for something or you will fall for anything.
Let us not be weary in doing good; for at the proper time, we
will reap a
harvest if we do not give up.
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good...
Galatians 6:9-10

5. Look Up !!...
To the Lord.
I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me.
Philippians 4:13

6. Reach Up !!...
For something higher.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not unto your
own
understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will
direct your
path. Proverbs 3:5-6

7. Lift Up !!...
Your Prayers.
Do not worry about anything; instead PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING.
Philippians 4:6

A POSITIVE THOUGHT
Whenever you want to talk,God will listen.
He could live anywhere in the universe, and He chose your
heart.
What about the Christmas gift He sent you in Bethlehem; not to
mention
that

Friday at Calvary.
Face it, He's crazy about you.

WAKE UP, DRESS UP, SHUT UP, STAND UP, LOOK UP, REACH UP, LIFT
UP

God Bless You

[JOYnet] Husband Shopping Center

2002-08-13 Thread Varghese N S

Recently a Husband Shopping Center opened in Dallas,
where women could
go to choose a husband from among many men. It was laid out in
five floors,
with the men increasing in positive attributes as you ascended
up the
 floors.
The only rule was, once you opened the door to any floor, you
must choose a
man from that floor, and if you went up a floor, you couldn't
go back down
except to leave the place never to return.

A couple of girlfriends go to the place to find men.

First floor, the door had a sign saying, These men have jobs
and love
 kids.
The women read the sign and say, Well, that's better than not
having jobs,
or not loving kids, but I wonder what's further up? So up they
go.

Second floor says These men have high paying jobs, love kids,
and are
extremely good looking. Hmmm, say the girls. But, I wonder
what's
 further up?

Third floor: These men have high paying jobs, are extremely
good
looking, love kids and help with the housework. Wow! say the
women.
 Very
tempting, BUT, there's more further up! And up they go.

Fourth floor: These men have high paying jobs, love kids, are
extremely
good looking, help with the housework, and have a strong
romantic streak.
Oh, mercy me. But just think! What must be awaiting us further
on!

So up to the fifth floor they go. The sign on that door said,
This floor
is empty and exists only to prove that women are impossible to
please.

[JOYnet] Living Example of Love

2002-08-12 Thread Varghese N S

Sent: Monday, August 12, 2002 2:29 PM
Subject: Thought-12/08/2002

   Living Example of Love
   ==

Don't ever worry about not having enough love inside you. The
Word says
God's love is shed abroad in your heart by the Holy Ghost. God's
love is
in you. What you need to do is make a decision to let it flow.

Pray this prayer today.

In Jesus' Name, I make a fresh and strong commitment today to
live the
life of love, to let the tenderness of God flow through me and
heal the
wounded hearts of those I meet.

Father, teach me to love even when things go wrong. To be
patient and
kind when the children are underfoot. To overlook the spiteful
words of
an angry spouse. To rejoice when someone at the office gets the
raise
that I thought I needed. Teach me to talk in love, to lay gossip
quietly
aside and to take up words of grace instead.

Lord, Your Word says that Your love is already inside me...that
it has
been shed abroad in my heart. So today, I resolve to remove
every
obstacle that would keep that love from flowing freely into the
lives of
others. I put resentments behind me, and I forgive all those
who've done
me wrong.

In the days ahead, cause me to increase and excel and overflow
with
Your love. Cause me to be what this world needs most of all...a
living
example of love. Amen.

God Bless You!

Beware of Self-Exaltation - Joyce Meyer
===

Therefore humble yourselves [demote, lower yourselves in your
own
estimation] under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may
exalt
you.
1 Peter 5:6 We are not to promote ourselves. True promotion
comes from
God.
(Psalm 75:6,7) I can promote myself but from experience I have
discovered
that it I put myself somewhere, I have to struggle to keep myself
there.
If

I wait for God to put me in a position, He also keeps me. It
takes
patience
to wait on God's promotion, but waiting on Him honors Him-and the
person
who
honors God will be honored by God. (1 Samuel 2:30.) It is yet to
be seen
what the Lord can do through a man or woman who will give Him all
the
glory.
We must learn to allow God to take the lead role in our daily
life and
future. How much we are depending upon Him is clearly seen by how
willing
we
are to wait on Him for what we want. Trusting God does not mean
that we
do

nothing. It does, however, mean that we do only what God leads us
to do.
God can use only the humble. The degree of humility in which we
walk
determines how much God is able to use us. Wait on the Lord!
(Psalm 27:14.) His way is better. His timing is perfect. Do
This: Allow
God to take the lead role in your life. Wait on Him, and
everything will
turn out better in the end.

Have a Nice day!

  The Dive
  =

A young man who had been raised as an atheist was training to
be an Olympic diver.

The only religious influence in his life came from his
outspoken Christian friend. The young diver never really paid
much attention to his friend's sermons, but he heard them
often.

One night the diver went to the indoor pool at the college he
attended. The lights were all off, but as the pool had big
skylights and the moon was bright, there was plenty of light to
practice by.

The young man climbed up to the highest diving board and as he
turned his back to the pool on the edge of the board and extended
his arms out, he saw his shadow on the wall.

The shadow of his body was in the shape of a cross.
Instead of diving, he knelt down and finally asked God to come
into his life.

As the young man stood, a maintenance man walked in and turned
the lights on.

The pool had been drained for repairs.

[JOYnet] have a nice

2002-07-29 Thread Varghese N S

HERE'S A STORY: LIFE IN PERSPECTIVE

One day a father of a very wealthy family took his
son on a trip to the country with the firm purpose of showing his
son how
poor people live.

They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of
what would be considered a very poor family.

On their return from their trip, the father asked his
son, How was the trip?

  It was great, Dad.

Did you see how poor people live? the father asked.

  Oh Yeah said the son

So what did you learn from the trip? asked the
father.

  The son answered,

I saw that we have one dog and they had four.

We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our
garden and they have a creek that has no end.

We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have
the stars at night.

Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the
whole horizon.

We have a small piece of land to live on and they
have fields that go beyond our sight.

We have servants who serve us, but they serve others.

We buy our food, but they grow theirs.

We have walls around our property to protect us -
they have friends to protect them.

With this the boy's father was speechless.

Then his son added, Thanks, dad, for showing me how
poor we are.

Too many times we forget what we have and concentrate on
what we don't have.

It is all based on one's ATTITUDE.

And remember: It is our attitude and not aptitude
that determines our altitude in life.

Looking at Jesus the Leader
==

Let's look at Jesus as the Leader. A leader is one who leads.
Jesus is our Leader and he leads us.

Firstly, we see him as a Teacher - one who has the authority. He
was well-versed in the scriptures. When he was tempted, he did
not yield to temptation. The secret of his victory was his
knowledge and ability to use
the scriptures effectively Matthew 4:4-10, Luke 4:4-12. Whenever
he spoke, people wondered from where he got his wisdom. We also
see him as one who had answers to all questions. In Matthew
22:15-33, we see that various
groups of people wanted to trap him by asking him various
questions. Again we see his knowledge of the scriptures and the
way he used it to silence all
of them.
How much we need to study the Word of God and have the ability to
use the Word of God in different situations.

Secondly, we see him as a Role Model for us. He did not just
preach. His life itself was an example. When he talked about
love, He said, 'As I have loved you' John 13:34, 15:12. His love
is not a reciprocal love but an
unconditional love. Though I am not worthy of his love. He loves
me, he also expects us to love one another.

Thirdly, when he talked about Service, he demonstrated that in
the upper room. As a leader, he should have waited for the
disciples to wash his feet.
But instead, He took off his outer clothing, wrapped a towel
around his waist, and began to wash his disciple's feet, drying
them with the towel that wrapped around him. He also declared
that He did not come to be
served but to serve. Matthew 20:28. He did not give up on anyone.
He did not write

off anyone, we see that his handling of Judas and Peter. He did
not give up

Judas till the end, though Judas was a traitor as we read in Luke
6:16 and John 18:5 and the one who betrayed Jesus. Yet he loved
him till the end.

In the upper room, he gave him the important place and warned
him. He did not give up on Peter. Yes, he had to rebuke him
saying, Get behind me satan!
You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the
things of God, but the things of men. Matthew 16:23.

Fourthly, Jesus also planned things well. Jesus and Peter had to
pay temple

tax. He organized a fish to give that amount to Peter. The donkey
was arranged for his triumphal entry into Jerusalem Matthew
21:23. The upper room was already arranged for Passover Matthew
26:18. There was no
confusion, no last minute running around here and there. He also
lived a life of Discipline.

Fifthly, look at Jesus's humility. When Paul writes to the
Philippians he says, being in very nature God, did not consider
quality with God something to be grasped, but made himself
nothing, taking the very nature of a
servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in
appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to
death, even-death on a cross

- Phillipians 2:6-8

Sixthly, let's not forget his obedience. Does a leader have to
obey? Is he accountable? Sometimes we feel that the leaders are
leaders and they can do anything the way they want. That is not
true with Jesus. HE OBEYED HIS
FATHER IN EVERYTHING. He did not pick and choose, from coming
down to the earth to the cross he obeyed.

You I are also called to be Leaders to lead others not only
with our words but also with our life. Others may not recognize
us as leaders. We may not have any designation against our name.
Yet we are leaders in one-way or the other, Let him be our Role
Model. Let us grow like HIM in all aspects of our lives. God
Bless you richly!

2002-07-27 Thread Varghese N S

Hi,

Today,s thought is basically on forgiveness.

Sunil
  The Benefits of Forgiving
===

After teaching about forgiveness, I had a man ask this question.
He said, I understand that as a Christian I am to forgive. I
understand that Jesus commanded us to forgive. But what difference
will it make in my daily life.

Who knows or cares if I forgive or not.

Well, the answer to that is a simple one. God knows if you
forgive or not and God cares. If God didn't care whether or not we
forgave, then He would not have talked so much about it in His
Word. God is not a time waster. If He addressed it in His Word,
then it's important to Him. And if it's important to Him, it
better be important to us.

  For Restoration
So let's take just a moment and see why we need to forgive.
First of all, we need to forgive in order to restore our minds.
When we dwell on the hurts
and pains of the past, then we will be consumed with self-pity.
We will live so much in yesterday that we will be ineffective
today.

We need to keep our minds on the things of God. We are told in
Philippians
4:8, Whatever things are true, whatever things are just,
whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever
things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is
anything praiseworthy - meditate on these things.

  For Answered Prayer
Another reason we need to forgive is so our prayers will not be
hindered.
Jesus said in Mark 11 that when we stand praying, we must
forgive others,
otherwise God will not forgive us. And in 1 Peter 3:7, the Bible
says that a husband that does not treat his wife with honor will
have his prayers hindere Many men harbor unforgiveness in their
hearts toward their wives
for one reason or another. That is not honoring your wife and it
will keep your prayers from being answered.

  For Obedience
Another reason to forgive is to be obedient to God. For a
Christian, that
should be enough. If the Word of God says to forgive, then we
don't need to
try to figure out why. We just need to do it.

Many times we talk about what we need to do but we don't tell
how to do it.

  So, how do we forgive?

This may sound oversimplified, but it actually is simple. You
just decide to. You have to make a mental decision and do it. Let
the offense go. Open your clinched fist and let it go. You cannot
regard how you feel as truth.
You must remember that you have decided to forgive and let it go
and not go back on your decision. Your feelings will come in
line later.

I have counseled people who have said they prayed for years for
God to take away the unforgiveness in their hearts. They blame
God because He hasn't removed it. Well that's wrong teaching. God
is not the one holding on to the unforgiveness. You are.
Jesus didn't tell us to pray to God the Father and He would
take away the unforgiveness and bitterness in our hearts. He said
that we were to get rid of it. It's our responsibility. Just let
it go!

Forgiveness doesn't mean that you're to get back into a bad
relationship. Forgiveness doesn't mean to continue to let an
abusive husband beat you.
But Forgiveness means you have to let all the hurts,
resentments, and bitterness go.

The situation may not change, but you will. You will be free
from the bondage of unforgiveness and when you stand praying, He
will hear your prayers.

Remember this: Satan wants to destroy Christians. He uses
unforgiveness.
God, on the other hand, wants us to be set free. He uses
forgiveness. The choice is ours.

  Have a Nice day!

Christian Maturity - Pas.David
===

But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have
trained
themselves to distinguish good from evil(I Corinthians 2:6).

I've taken a mental survey of mature people that I know well.
I've studied
them, their behavior, their speech, how they handle problems,
how they
treat others, how they submit to those in authority over
them,how they
react when they are wrong and wronged. I've found three
prominent
characteristics that I'd like to share with you.

First, we must be teachable. Not everyone is teachable and
no one is teachable in every area. Many people are teachable
ONLY when they
want to be. I've made up my mind, and I ain't changing it one
iota.

He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his
way (Psalm 25:9). We must become soft hearted instead of
hardheaded. We
must be open to learn from those who are over us. A teachable
Spirit
enables us to be humble and respect others and allows God to use
them to
teach us!

Secondly, we must be open to being Spirit led. When we fail walk
I step
with the
Spirit we can become conceited and satan convinces us,

ever so subtly, that we lead ourselves. The devil convinces us
not to seek
the Spirit, and so many people who fail to mature have closed
their heart
  to the Spirit of God.

Finally, those who are maturing fast depend upon God. They
do not depend upon their own strength, power, bank accounts,
personality
  or
their position. Rather, they humble themselves and know that all
they have
  and are is from God.

Today, consider submitting to those who
are Spiritual over you, and learn from them. Be open to the Holy
Spirit of
God and make a commitment today to depend upon God for all
things! As you
do, you'll find yourself seeking God and finding Him and walking
with Him
  with greater measure!

Dear Heavenly Father, I desire to be teachable, Spirit led
and dependent upon you. In Jesus' name, AMEN!

  Have a Nice day!

[JOYnet] thought for the day

2002-07-23 Thread Varghese N S

Hold on to Jesus !

WHEN ONE PERSON RUINS YOUR LIFE
   ==

King David was hounded by Saul. The prophet Elijah was threatened
by Jezebel.

Paul was harmed by Alexander the metalworker.

Even Jesus was betrayed by Judas.

Has one person ruined your joy? Is there a name of a person, and
when you hear that name you feel defeated, worried, and
ruined.

Can one person ruin our life? Not unless we forget that One
person stands in the gap for us--JESUS CHRIST! He does not want
your life to come to ruin!
Praise the Lord.

I am excited, blessed and comforted to know that my Jesus, my
Friend, my Savior stands in the gap on my behalf to keep me from
being ruined.

We can only be ruined if we give in to the devil and reject the
Lord's salvation, satan seeks to destroy us forever.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come
that they may have life, and have it to the full(John 10:10).

So, what did God do so that we would not be ruined by the
devil?

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever

believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John
3:16).

Jesus wants us to walk in His power and strength here and now.

I will bring back my exiled people Israel; they will rebuild the
ruined cities and live in them. They will plant vineyards and
drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their
fruit(Amos 9:14).

Jesus has a way of entering into our lives with the purpose of
rebuilding what has been destroyed. He restores what is ruined.

Today, you may feel ruined, defeated and depressed. Friend,
please hear me.

Jesus wants to keep you from being emotionally ruined now. He
wants to restore your emotional heartbreak.

I never know whom God is seeking to reach these Thoughts. But I
know,His message of restoration, life more abundant, eternal
life, is going out right
where He wants it to go. Will you allow the Words of Jesus, the
love of Jesus to reach deep into your broken heart?

CHRISTIAN, YOU CANNOT BE RUINED! YOU ARE GOD'S
PROPERTY!!!
===

Whatever your pain or heartbreak, Jesus will use it to shape you
and train you to effectively serve Him in helping others. Now,
pick yourself up and in the power and love of Jesus, let's face
another day!

When a supernatural force, such as the devil, makes a punching
bag out of you,and ruins your day, there is only One who is
powerful enough to deliver you--

JESUS CHRIST. Jesus delivers us from an old, tattered
punching bag to a child of the, dressed in royalty.

Dear Heavenly Father, I praise You for holding us up, when we
cannot stand.

Thank You for picking us up when we are down. In Jesus' Name,
AMEN!

Have a Blessed day!

[JOYnet] Thought of the day!

2002-07-17 Thread Varghese N S

Subject: Thought-17/07/2002

Don't Limit God - Pas.Joel Osteen
  ===

In the book of Psalms, chapter 37, verse 4 it says, If you
delight
yourself in the Lord, God would give you the desires of your
heart. The
Amplified version says, the secret petitions of your heart.

But just because God says He'd give them to us doesn't mean
that we're

not going to face obstacles and we're not going to face situations
that we
have to overcome in life. And what I want to talk to you about a
little
while today is how we ought not to limit God's power and limit
His
blessings
in our lives. The way we limit God is through doubt and
unbelief.

There's going to be a time
in all of our lives where when we look up it's going to look like
by all
natural, ordinary, human reasoning that our dreams can't come to
pass. Some

of you face that right now. It just looks like there's no way in
the
natural
and if you don't watch it, you'll get filled with doubt and
unbelief,
and you'll stop the flow of God's blessings in your life.

See I like to think of it like this: between me and God and
between
you
and God there's this pipeline. I like to think of it maybe an
8-inch
pipeline. And on that pipeline there's some valves on it, some
different
valves that you can either open of close. And when you start
looking at
only
the present-day situation and you're looking at all the obstacles
and the
challenges that you to face today, if you don't watch it
you'll get
filled with doubt and unbelief. And you've just got to reach up
there like
a
faucet. You're reaching up there and you're cutting back the
faucet. You're

cutting back the flow of God's power in your life.

You see, I wash my car a lot of times out in my driveway and
when I
start I open the faucet wide open and that water flows forth
freely. But
when I get another portion I cut the faucet back and I start to
restrict
the water and it comes less and less and less. And if we don't
watch
it--God
is a good God. He wants to bless us. He wants to give us the
desires of our

heart. But if we don't watch it, it's through our own doubt
and unbelief that we're reaching up there and we're cutting back
the flow
of
God's blessings and His supernatural power in our lives.

And what I want to challenge you with today is don't limit
God through

your doubt and unbelief and go back and open that valve up
completely so we

can receive the power and the blessings of God in our lives. God
gave us
the
dreams; He wants to bring them to pass.

The Bible is full of promises from God. Somebody said
there's over
20,000 promises in this Bible. If we would just get them into our
heart and

get them into our lives, we would see God begin to work and we
wouldn't
limit God.

And you know what I want us to see today is that God's done
something
in all of our lives. How many of you believe God has touched your
life one
time or another? Well you know what? This made God angry when they
began to

question His mightand His power and His ability.

Have a Nice day!
