Re: urgent help needed on checkbox property!!!!

2001-04-13 Thread Dean Sacramone

You can probably use javascript or DHTML for this.. but it would entail
using images.

Just use javascript. Have an image that looks like a checkbox,,,when someone
clicks on it, it swaps out the image with one that has an X on itthen it
sets a variable that will be applied to the value of a form element. --
eats a easy solution.

You can't get rid off that error..cause you are trying to close the

 Hi all,

 We keep hearing news on the downtrends of the Java web market in the US?

 How true is this and is this a slug or a permanent downfall of Java web
 based
 technologies like JSP, Servlets, XML ???

 What about Europe?

 Would like your thoughts.

Again: class questions.. any help is appreciated

2000-12-07 Thread Dean Sacramone

Hello all, --thanks for all those who helped me out. HERE ARE A FEW
QUESTIONS that I need assistance on. I am not gonna lie...this is for a
extension course that I am taking, so its not a actual school class. I am
just stuck..

I have 3 form boxes processed by a servlet.

QUESTIONS:
1.) if the second edit box contains the string "A" then it should read the
initialization parameter from the context called 'startup' and present its
value back to the browser.

2)If the third box contains the string "B" then it should redirect the pate
to the url that is represented by the string contained in the first edit
box.

3.) If the second edit box contains the string "D" then it should return the
user agent that it is dealing with back to the browser

4.) If the server receives an ACCEPT header that has a value "text' returns
a page with text stating "page in text mode". Be sure to set the content
type to text mode. For all other requests that does not have the ACCEPT
header value as 'text' return pages with content type html.

5)If the first edit box contains the string "E" then it should send an error
response with status code 403 and text information "got an error". This will
override processing any other of data in any other edit boxes.

ANY help would be appreciated. I know its a lot, but I fell behind.

Thanks,
~~~
jswdk 1.0.1? mapping question or not, not sure..please advise
Hello,
I've created a form that calls to a servlet for processing. the thing is
that its not finding the servlet. I am calling it correctly, but its not
finding it,,so I am thinking its a mapping issue. I am using the freebie
Java web development kit from sun to practice servlets and jsp.
I have this HTML file..  ReadForm.html in this directory.
jswdk1.0.1/examples/servlets/ReadForm.html
and it calls a servlet here
jswdk1.0.1/examples/Web-inf/servlets/ReadParamEx
YET, its not finding it. I am using form action="/servlet/ReadParamEx"
method=POST
and its not working. Any help would be appreciated.
thanks,
 You might want to look at the deflater() method.  I believe you should
 read the file in and then extract it using this method.
 Look at the API documentation:
 OK, I know this is off-topic, but it's a bit of a pain to go log onto
 other lists and stuff for a question I only have to deal with once, so
 please bear with me.. Does anyone out there know perl and know what this
 line of code means?
 if (-e $datafile) {} else { open (DATA, "$datafile") ||
 I have a ecommerce program that I'm having problems with and we've
 narrowed the problem down to this line. I don't really understand what
 the -e is or the open statement...  Thanks to anyone that knows and once
 again, sorry for the off-topic question.
Re: (Off Topic)Javascript: enter event in Javascript
2000-11-17 Thread Dean Sacramone
Put this for the "open window" function. The names are arbitrary, but I like
medievel names.
put the focus in a setTimeOut cause microsoft will not work otherwise
assuming the popup is
more than just text (graphics) etcat least I have found.buggy
  function launchstatement() {
swordWindow = window.open('statementindex.html', 'state',
"toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,status=no,menubar=no,scrollbars=no,re
sizeable=no,width=400,height=500, screenx=200, screeny=100,top=100
,left=400")
perseus=swordWindow
setTimeout('perseus.focus()',1000);
 }
***
Now, if that doesn't manage itself across all resolutions, do a resolution
test and then sub in values for the "screen x, screeny, top, and left"
attributes.. this means your gonna have to document.write this out in
javascript...
**
For example..
TEST for resolution..
if(screen.width == "1024"){
scrnx=100;
scrny=100;
top=100;
left=100;
}
if(screen.width == "800"){
scrnx=200;
scrny=200;
top=200;
left=200;
}
if(screen.width == "640"){
scrnx=300;
scrny=300;
tp=300;
lft=300;
}
THEN when you 'document.write" out the popup window code... just sub in the
variables above into the code ala..
document.write("ALLTHECODEHERE" +'screenx='+scrnx+',
screeny='+scrny+',top='+tp+' ,left='+lft+");
is that explained clearly???.
test this yourself in the different resolutions, you might not even have to
test for resolutionsbut if you do, just test then applies to the
variables and document.write then into the open window function. Remember,
your gonna have to put the approriate coordinates into the (screenx=,
screeny=,top= ,left=).
3 questions easy I am sure
2000-11-16 Thread Dean Sacramone
Hey all,
I have 3 questions. They are textbook questiions but I can't find the
answers.
1.) What servlet method would you call to get the protocol being used in the
client/server transmission?
2.) What is the java API package name that contains the classes to support
the servlet HTTP functions?
3.) Whare are the 2 primary methods that are supported by HTTP protocol to
send data to the server??
Thanks,
Subject: Finding Taglib Documentation
 Yeah, your reply is off-thread.
 However, I would say the best thing to do would be to use Sun's example
 taglib as a starting point. That's what I did.
 Sun has improved their taglib documentation since introducing JSP 1.1. I
 don't think the following URL was there since day but I wish it had been.
 And it's not well marked.
2000-10-30 Thread Dean Sacramone
2000-10-30 Thread Dean Sacramone
Okay,,, here it is... ON your image etc... use this call to the
function "return printPage()"
SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript"
var da = (document.all) ? 1 : 0;
var pr = (window.print) ? 1 : 0;
if (da  !pr)
  document.write('OBJECT ID="WB" WIDTH="0" HEIGHT="0"
CLASSID="clsid:8856F961-340A-11D0-A96B-00C04FD705A2"/OBJECT');
function printPage()
if(navigator.appName == "Microsoft Internet Explorer"
  (navigator.appVersion.indexOf("Mac") != -1 ||
  navigator.appVersion.indexOf("3.1") != -1)) {
  alert("Sorry, your browser doesn't support this feature. Please click on
this page and then press Ctrl-P on a PC or Command-P on a Mac.");
 }
 else if (pr) // NS4, IE5
  parent.bottom2.print();
!-- this is the frame name where the page
resides that you want printed --
else if (da) // IE4
  vbPrintPage()
 else // other browsers
 alert("Sorry, your browser doesn't support this feature. Please click
on this page and then press Ctrl-P on a PC or Command-P on a Mac.");
 return false;
}
Sub window_onunload
  On Error Resume Next
  Set WB = nothing
Sub vbPrintPage
  OLECMDEXECOPT_PROMPTUSER = 1
  On Error Resume Next
  WB.ExecWB OLECMDID_PRINT, OLECMDEXECOPT_DONTPROMPTUSER
