One thing I would Like to stress, here is that , JSWDK is good for developing , but not for Deploying. For Deploying , You need something as good as Apache. Re: interesting read
Well I dont think this is a soft drinks interest list? or Is It? IMHO I would request you to restrict your self to discussing JSP and related technologies only. Forget Soft Drinks technology. Ritesh Sinha Khem Chand Sachdeva <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> on 05/23/2000 03:06:06 PM Please respond to A mailing list about Java Server Pages specification and reference <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] cc:(bcc: Sinha Ritesh-SWD-ITIL-UB/Itilmail) Subject: interesting read Hi All I ran into this article while going thru' our company's news group --- --- Have a look at the wrapper on a Coca-Cola 1.5 litre bottle and in the ingredients label you will find phosphoric acid in it. Minute quantities of ethylene glycol is also used (which is acknowledged in the soft drink world for making it really chill"). This is popularly known as anti-freeze which prevents water from freezing at 0 deg C and instead drops it by 4-5 degrees with minute quantities. This chemical is a known slow poison in the caliber of arsenic. So, if you manage to drink about 4 litres of Coke within an hour or so, you can die. Read along and give up these dangerous things. Be natural, have flavoured milks, tender coconuts, butter milk, lassi and plain water instead of these "soft" drinks. Guess what's the pH for soft drinks, e.g. Coke? pH 3.4! This acidity is strong enough to dissolve teeth and bones! Our human body stops building bones at the age of about 30. Soft drinks do not have any nutrition value (in terms of vitamins &minerals). It is high in sugar content, carbonic acid, chemicals i.e.colorings etc. Some like to take cold soft drinks after each meal. Guess what's the impact? Our body needs an optimum temperature of 37 degrees Celsius for digestive enzyme functioning. The temperature of cold soft drinks is very much below 37 degrees or even close to 0 degrees Celsius. This will dilute the enzymes & stress the digestive system. The food taken will not be digested. In fact it will be fermented! The fermented food produces gases, decays and becomes toxin, gets absorbed by the intestine, circulates in the blood stream and is carried to the whole body. Hence toxin is cumulated in other parts of the body, developing into various diseases. Think before you drink coke/Pepsi (or any soft drink) again. Have you ever thought what you drink when you drink an aerated drink? You gulp down carbon dioxide, when nobody in the world would advise you to drink CO2. Two months back, there was a competition at Delhi University - Who could drink the most Coke?" The winner drank 8 bottles and fainted on the spot-too much CO2 in the blood. Thereafter, the principal banned all soft drinks from the college canteen ! While this might have been an extreme measure, the results do provide some food for thought. Did you know that soft drinks use chemicals in them that cause immense harm to you. Someone put a broken tooth in a bottle of Pepsi and in 10 days it DISSOLVED! Can you believe it? Teeth and bones are the only human parts that stay intact for years after death. Imagine what the drink must be doing to your soft intestines and stomach lining! Request to All : Forward this message to your friends to increase the awareness of the great "Assumed soft drinks". In India, people hesitate to pay Rs.7-8/- for a tender coconut but prefer to pay Rs. 10/- and drink these deadful products. cheer up no thumps up khem, --- - === To unsubscribe: mailto [EMAIL PROTECTED] with body: "signoff JSP-INTEREST". Hi Nitin, I think you have to go to a little depth of JSP. Its not that JSP is loaded every time it is requested. A JSP when compiled for the first time, is converted to "SERVLET" . So that ways there is no difference between a JSP and a servlet. this servlet is then compiled and use as any other normal servlet. The performance dip is encountered only for the first time. Then onwards any JSP is jsut like any servlet. If you are using jswdk... then just check the folder "work" you'll see servlets corresponding to each of your JSP. I don't mean like HomeSite which I already use. I need more than keyword coloring, I want the edit/compile/run-in-debug loop. While developing beans in Cafe, J++, or JBuilder all provide symbolic debugging, breakpoints, etc. The JSP translation to a Java source, the compile and then class loading seem to make this sort of loop impossible. Has anyone (Oracle 8i?, IBM Websphere, JRun?) implemented this classic development loop? At least gimme an environment where the line number reported by the Java compile can be easily traced back to the JSP source line! Yeah, yeah, I know: keep the Java in the JSP simple and you don't have this problem. Right! Re: Writing XML in JSP file
Hi Nishi, You sure can write XML in JSP file. Infact thats on of hte targets of JSP. TO write XML in JSP you have to set the content type to (text/xml) . To show it in the browser you have to create a style sheet for The XML file. Re: JSP Classes
Hi folks, I think you can see the code generated for the servlet in the "work" subfolder of JSWDK. I am not sure about other environments. Looking at the code generated there provides good enough idea of what goes on in a servlet generated from a JSP. I have not come across any documentation that says any thing about the structure of the servlet. Re: JSWDK DOESN'T START
Thanks for your replies. But i have checked class paths. The locations of the webserver.jar, tools.jar, rt.jat etc are correctly specified. I guess the problem is due to Initialization on the DefaultServlet as the command prompt window shows. The startup file is not able to initialize the DefaultServlet. So the problem still persists and i will be grateful for any further help.
