Re: [JPP-Devel] Error trying to connect to svn-repository

2010-09-08 Thread Nils Kuhn

Hi,
sorry for the long time without answer but unfortunately I hadn't as
much time the last weeks and I didn't get the svn-checkout running with
subclipse yet...
I tried the following urls with subclipse but always the same error:

https://jump-pilot.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/jump-pilot
https://jump-pilot.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/jump-pilot/core/trunk

The urls are working in a browser and eclipse itself gets the
connection to the internet via given proxy-settings.
Do I need a username/password for checkout the source via svn (set in
front of the url)?
In the eclipse-svn-preferences aren't very much options to set, do I
have to set a directory of "Configuration location"?
Any further ideas?

Just checked again
https://jump-pilot.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/jump-pilot/core/trunk
works with either
https:// or http://

go to Window->Open Perspective->[Other ...->]SVN Repository Exploring

then right click in 'SVN Repositories' tab on the left side, New->Repository
Location
Add the url in 'URL:' dropdown field and click 'Finish'

https will ask you to accept the key.. What error do you get. Please send a

2010-09-08 Thread Nils Kuhn

Hi Ede,
svn://svn.openwrt.org/openwrt/trunk/ doesn't work, too (attached screnshot).
I uninstalled/installed Subclipse, that doesn't change anything :-(
I don't have the time now, but if there's no other possibility I will install eclipse 3.6 (instead of 3.4 which I am using right now) and try again later.

You should. Smells like an eclipse problem to me. 3.4 also is really old by
now. I actually still use latest 3.5 for java, because I experienced crashes

don't know if the user should be able to set it.

Lets start with this easy case, as the main idea is to have this
functions for databases. However, it is good to expose the info via the
GUI that an attribute is not editable - this way people may be aware
that attributes can be editable or not and I assume that at some point
people would ask for that feature/option if they need it (and pay it ;).

my 2 cents

Re: [JPP-Devel] Charset choise

2010-09-08 Thread Stefan Steiniger
I like the charset choice, thanks Matthias.

However, I wonder what users feel having every time to chose (even it is
only one more click) and probably not knowing what it means.

So one thought I had is to "comment out" the dialog call and put the
dialog options in (a new?) options tab instead and store it the
blackboard? Then the currently set value is read while loading the shp
(i.e. exposing the option in a different way to the user).

I know its additional work but may be more user friendly for those who
never care about charsets and have to load quite a bit of data during a
day? Like I do ;)

Actually my co-worker just suggested the option to have a checkbox for
the additional dialog asking "Do you want to use that value every time".
so it doesn't pop up all the time during one session.

my 2 cents...

Nice feature, but it is going to take a little more work. It
currently breaks shapefile loading from a project file and the
lright-click on layer legacy method "Load Dataset". I think you need
to set a default charset on start up.

Thereby the code changes was very small and consitent :-) On the

Without good documentation you need many hours to understand and
implement such options for file loading.
Please take a look at my changes and tell me your opinion.
In the language files (en and de) I've added a
   "org.openjump.core.ui.plugin.file.charset" key.
