We won't really be doing any automatic prioritizing or de-prioritizing. I don't
think it's a good idea, you cannot assume what networks people want to use. It
should be up to them to do this.

First of all I would like to know whether KWin finds the refresh rate at all.
And what the refresh rate is which KWin calculates.

[Akonadi] [Bug 395131] Akonadi consumes all memory

2018-06-24 Thread Karthik Periagaram
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=395131

After a day of switching versions and just observing the memory usage, I'm
happy to report that the problem occurs when upgrading from akonadi* 18.04.0 to
18.04.1. With 18.04.0 packages, akonadiserver uses just under 10 MB of memory
and holds stable. Switching to 18.04.1, akonadiserver starts using increasing
amounts of memory without an upper bound. Within a few hours, it uses a few
gigabytes of memory.

1. Whatever is causing this is in the 18.04.0 -> 18.04.1 update.
2. Downgrading akonadi* packages to 18.04.0 as per my last email is a viable
workaround (with no noticeable loss of functionality).

[kresources] [Bug 395836] New: Digital Clock Widget selects yesterday in drop down Calendar

2018-06-24 Thread Colin
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=395836

Bug ID: 395836
Summary: Digital Clock Widget selects yesterday in drop down
Calendar
   Product: kresources
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: framework
  Assignee: kdepim-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: colinnkee...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

I have the digital clock widget on the panel. It shows the time, day of the
week, and date in 2 rows. When I click on it, a monthly calendar drops down (my
panel is on the top). It defaults to selecting Yesterday even though it knows
that's not today. If there are no events, it reports "No events for this day".
If I select today (not yesterday that was selected by default), then it reports
"No events for today". So it knows which is today, but is defaulting to
selecting yesterday for some reason.

I have version 5.47 of the plasma framework installed on Arch Linux. I don't
know if I am reporting this against the correct component or not.I don't know
how to determine the version of kresources framework I have.

[kwin] [Bug 394529] Configure Mouse buttons (Global Shortcuts should accept accept mouse clicks to trigger actions/keypresses/scripts)

2018-06-24 Thread Christoph Feck
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=394529

Why are you reopening this ticket? How would a global shortcut help an
application that expects mouse events to open a context menu or execute a
double-click action? Global shortcuts already work, and you would have to
change the application to either handle those shortcut events, or you would
have to change the Qt toolkit to transform those into mouse events.

This will not be fixed in KWin, according to its developers.

[kmymoney] [Bug 323482] Wishlist: separate field for taxCategory which can be sorted and searched and reported.

2018-06-24 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=323482

Jack,

Thanks for your reply, sorry for the delay responding.

I remain deeply grateful for you and your developers making KMyMoney
available, and basing it upon the familiar Intuit Quicken product of the
mid 2000s.  The old Quicken product was based upon a database that had
separate fields for category and taxFormLineNumber, if I remember
correctly that you created by appending "::" to your category names
followed by your taxFormLineNumber names, and the program would do all
the sorting and searching to allow reporting separately by category or
taxFormLineNumber.

Yes, the KMyMoney Tag field could be a part of the solution. However,
the utility is limited, because you cannot assign Payees a "Default tag"
like you can a "Default category", which means the arduous assignment of
a tag to  every single imported transaction, every time.  This
represents more work to me than the already arduous work-around of
creating many copies of every category for all the permutations of
category of business expense and catagory of tax form line number.  The
latter, however, allows me to import transactions and have the category
of business expense and category of tax form line number automatically
assigned by payee. I do have to do some arduous post processing of my
reports at year end, requiring exporting the reports to a spreadsheet,
then manipulating the data by text string parsing and processing to
create two separate columns, one for category of business expense, and
another column for category of tax form line item.  The syntax I made up
for my work-around to the limitation of KMyMoney is that I name my
categories as so:

:::Tax...

Then I export the report to a spreadsheet which uses text formulas to
find the string ":Tax." and parse the CategoryBusiness to one column and
parse the CategoryTax to another column.  From this I can perform my
various business analyses and tax reporting.

If KMyMoney allowed Payors to separately be assigned BOTH a category
(CatagoryBusiness) and a tag (CatagoryTax) so imported items were
automatically assigned independent categories and tags, then I would no
longer need to post process outside KMyMoney, and could simply use
KMyMoney's reports.  THIS WOULD BE EVEN MORE POWERFUL THAN THE OLD
2000'S ERA QUICKEN, as the user could have much shorter lists of
independent business categories and tax categories, without having to
create numerous permutations of both.

For purposes of clarifying example, I have attached a spreadsheet
showing the post processing I have to do outside of KMyMoney, with
amount numbers changed for privacy. Column A represents the
CategoryBusiness level of detailed itemization I need to make business
decisions, and Column J represents the parsing I have to do in order to
prepare my taxes.  I have highlighted in color bands groups of
CategoryBusiness that all have the same CategoryTax, although the
mapping is not always "many to one" and just as well could be "one to
many".  There is another page to the spreadsheet that then sorts and
subtotals all the CategoryTax items by tax form line which I did not
include.  If Payers could be assigned tags independently of their
assigned categories, I could do all of this with KMyMoney's report
feature without any post processing.

I am currently using KMyMoney Version 4.7.2, so perhaps this has already
been implemented in a newer version?

Thank you for replying to my post, and thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Michael Stelman.

[dolphin] [Bug 395835] New: Crashes when moving a file from one location to another

2018-06-24 Thread bugzilla_noreply

Application: dolphin (17.12.3)

Qt Version: 5.9.5
Frameworks Version: 5.44.0
Operating System: Linux 4.15.0-23-generic x86_64
Distribution: Ubuntu 18.04 LTS

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:

Moving a file from ~/Downloads to another directory - which at the moment I can
only remember has been to a cifs mount at / but may have happened
again as I get this error every time (10+ times) since upgrading to Kubuntu
18.04.

First the error states that there are permissions preventing writing to the
folder, then after clicking retry, it says the original file is missing in
~/Downloads, hitting retry brings errors, and after clicking ignore, Dolphin
crashes. Checking the destination folder, the file is there and was actually
moved.

The crash can be reproduced every time.

I think the important question is, does Adobe Reader let you save stuff in that
broken file? If so we should try to do the same, and if we can't make it happen
i guess we'd need some kind of visual warning (we have one in the command line
when saving fails, but that's hardly enough)

[latte-dock] [Bug 395444] Some plasmoids shorcuts not working

2018-06-24 Thread bugzilla_noreply
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=395444

1) When I first noticed the problem I was using only latte-dock, now during
tests I was using both Plasma Panels and Latte;
2) Yes, I'm using the systray in Unity Layout.

I tried to set a shortcut to Media Control Plasmoid in Latte, and:
- after closing and reopening Latte, the shortcut was preserved;
- after the first reboot, it was preserved;
- after the second reboot, it was reset.

At this point I guess it's a problem with my specific installation, I should
try with a fresh install in a VM.

No checkboxes checked!

No matter how many times I try, I cannot get Kate to stay un-pinned from
Kickoff or Kicker. When I right-click Kate in Favorites, choose Show in
Favorites and de-select everything, Kate will re-pin upon session restart or
switching menu layout (to Kicker/Kickoff).

Sometimes, if I right-click Kate in Favorites, under 'Show in Favorites'
nothing is checked (see screenshot).

Note: I have two Activities running. Kate shows up in both. I think I pinned
Kate to one of the activities (bad memory).

Certainly started under 5.13.

Hello,

This is more of a feature request. When in fullscreen mode, making the address
bar / tab bar visible moves down the web page, thus the distance from the mouse
to the elements of the web changes, which is uncomfortable. I noticed that,
because of this, I am afraid of making the bars appear by error.

In my honest opinion, it would improve usability if, in fullscreen mode, the
bars were rendered as a 'floating element' which will just appear on top of the
web, instead of displacing it. This way, they won't become any more difficult
to use, while not altering browsing experience.

With such a feature, the fullscreen mode would be much more powerful.

Thanks.

Hey Martin, so I've setup my build environment and I am able to compile and
replace kwin on my Fedora system. I was planning on placing some logging
statements into screens_xrandr.cpp to print out the different modes and refresh
rates. As I am completely new to KDE code, do you have any suggestions as to
how and what I should be logging? What additional information do you need to
debug this? Happy to chuck in whatever logging code you desire.

2018-06-24 Thread Tobias Deiminger

(In reply to Tobias Deiminger from comment #4)
> - First object number > 0 doesn't indicate a damaged file, but it's valid
> (am unsure about this)
After investigating a bit more, now I think not having an object 0 is invalid.
This would mean '1_PDFsam_Untitled 2.pdf' is invalid, and poppler is NOT to
blame (maybe poppler could provide a workaround, though).

Standard section 7.5.4 is explicit that an old fashioned XRef table needs a
special object 0:
"The first entry in the table (object number 0) shall always be free and shall
have a generation number of 65,535; it is shall be the head of the linked list
of free objects."

Now '1_PDFsam_Untitled 2.pdf' has no XRef table but an XRef stream, and it
seems a bit ambigous if the above statement about object 0 applies for XRef
streams too. This needs to be clarified before we can actually blame either
poppler or pdfsam. Maybe ask at adobe forum, or poppler list?

The XRef stream in '1_PDFsam_Untitled 2.pdf' looks like this (needed to decode
/Filter /FlateDecode first)

$ dd if=1_PDFsam_Untitled\ 2.pdf ibs=1 skip=5841 count=64 | python -c 'import

Bug ID: 395828
Summary: After following a link that opens in a new tab, the
'Back' feature won't become avaiable.
   Product: Falkon
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: now...@gmail.com
  Reporter: magib...@hotmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

Hello,

This issue should be easy to reproduce. These steps do it for me:

1. Go to a site whose links will open in a new tab by default (with a simple
left click - you WON'T reproduce the issue if you middle-click). For example:
https://forum.doom9.org/showpost.php?p=1844631&postcount=7: any link in the
body of that post will be opened in a new tab.

2. Once you are in the new tab, go to another site through the address bar or
by following a link in the page, without changing tab.

3. The 'Back' button isn't enabled.

I'm using package 3.0.1-4 of ArchLinux's 'extra' repository.

Thanks.

[Akonadi] [Bug 395131] Akonadi consumes all memory

2018-06-24 Thread Karthik Periagaram
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=395131

The issue started sometime in June, so must be related to releases 18.04.1 or
18.04.2 in Arch. I can confirm that reverting akonadi* packages to 18.04.0
makes the memory creep go away.

$ sudo pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/akonadi*-18.04.0-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.gz

akonadi (18.04.2-3 -> 18.04.0-1)
akonadi-contacts (18.04.2-1 -> 18.04.0-1)
akonadi-mime (18.04.2-1 -> 18.04.0-1)
akonadi-calendar (18.04.2-1 -> 18.04.0-1)
akonadi-search (18.04.2-1 -> 18.04.0-1)
akonadi-calendar-tools (18.04.2-1 -> 18.04.0-1)
akonadiconsole (18.04.2-1 -> 18.04.0-1)
akonadi-import-wizard (18.04.2-1 -> 18.04.0-1)
akonadi-notes (18.04.2-1 -> 18.04.0-1)

I hope this helps narrow down the cause.

That makes sense. I've found a few more useful things to pin to the dock now,
making it wider and kind of solving my issue in a roundabout way, so all good.

Latte master is using KWin edges mechanism by default and replicates plasma
panels behavior. That means that in v0.8 there is visual feedback how big is
your hidden dock.

Using the entire screen length wouldnt be possible, because we need two events
in order for correct dock slide-in.

1. The mouse to touch the edge for specific time
2. The mouse to be inside the dock it starts sliding-in

The second event wouldnt be possible in some cases if we using the entire
screen length

I am having the same issue sporadically on OpenSuSE Leap 15 using

KDE Plasma Version 5.12.5
KDE Frameworks Version 5.45.0
Qt Version: 5.9.4
Kernel Version: 4.12.14-lp150.12.4-default

I have not been able to determine anything specific that will trigger the
issue. Today it happened opening the notifications panel a few times over 15-20
minutes checking on the progress of a file transfer. Same issues as
linuxflesterer, clicking on the notifications panel, volume, devices,
networkmanager, or "show hidden icons" will show the highlight as if it is
active, clicking it again will toggle it back off, but no window appears.
Everything else on the panel works (clock, system load widget, pager, ect)

I don't see how an acceleration value of 0.0 would allow you to have a 1:1
mapping directly.

You will still experience an acceleration increase on fast movements, what is
shown on your linked page in the first graph: the accel factor for 0.0 starts
at 1 and increases linearly up to 2.

What you need is to select the flat pointer acceleration profile to have a 1:1
mapping.

Still it might make sense to have 11 ticks, so the middle one is the default
value of 0.0.

[gwenview] [Bug 395823] New: After import don't recommend temp for save as location

2018-06-24 Thread now-im
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=395823

Bug ID: 395823
Summary: After import don't recommend temp for save as location
   Product: gwenview
   Version: 18.04.2
  Platform: Archlinux Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: importer
  Assignee: gwenview-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: now.im@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

When I take a screenshot and imports it to gwenview and do some editing three
options pops up.
Save, Save as and Save all
Every option recommends temp for primary saving location. Maybe the image is
located in the temp temporarily. However, saving it to the user image folder
makes the most sense.
Thanks for reading.

Delete custom reports that are not SAVED by user. Automatically put SAVED

The current method quickly clutters up the default listings with customized
reports. I have to delete them every time I make a report I don't want to keep.

[krita] [Bug 395819] New: Assistant Tools Color & Opacity (one for all assistants) - unsaved to .kra file

2018-06-24 Thread Tymond
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=395819

Bug ID: 395819
Summary: Assistant Tools Color & Opacity (one for all
assistants) - unsaved to .kra file
   Product: krita
   Version: 4.1.0 beta
  Platform: Other
OS: MS Windows
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Tool/Assistants
  Assignee: krita-bugs-n...@kde.org
  Reporter: tamtamy.tym...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

The global color and opacity of assistant tools are not saved to .kra file.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Create new document
2) Create two assistants somewhere
3) Change the ('global') color and/or opacity of one of the assistants, then
for another use "Custom color" and set the ('local') color and opacity
4) Save the file, close, open again

Actual results:
5a) The assistant with the local color looks the same as before reloading; the
assistant with the global color returned to the default color (light grey) and
opacity (100%).

Expected results:
5b) Both assistants have the color and opacity set before saving, closing and
reopening the file.

There are two workarounds:
1) Choosing a custom color for every assistant tool - but it is time-consuming
and choosing a color once would be better; also the default color of the custom
color doesn't change to the last used, which contributes to the time-consumness
(and annoyance) of the solution
2) Changing the global color every time after opening a file - still, choosing
a color once would be better

Got you now & renamed the bug. That solution would be perfect. @Christoph Feck
GS wouldn't have to genereate mouse clicks in that case. It would just have to
learn to accept those as input / trigger. In addition, the option to assign a
shortcut to several actions would be great.

(Maybe libinput can later cover at least the mousewheel as doubleclick case,
that would help in 90% of the cases).

[plasmashell] [Bug 395727] Blur with transparency not working in application menus

2018-06-24 Thread Michael D
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=395727

Sorry, I can't take a screenshot of a menu in wayland given the way spectacle
works. It wouldn't show anything interesting anyway except a transparent menu
without blur.

Anyway, the bug is present even on all virtual desktops, so that wasn't the
problem. There is no pattern form what I can tell as to where it works and
where it doesn't. Also, I've noticed that it sometimes works on the first
invocation of a menu and then doesn't on the second, so try a bunch of times in
a row to see if that makes a difference.

When playing nexuiz (nexuiz-sdl) on Plasma on Wayland, the mouse input in
XWayland is often inaccurate. Sometimes the mouse "jumps", resulting in an
uncontrollable movement, I would describe it as a ~180° degree movement.
Another issue is that the mouse is getting slower or is even blocked when
continuously trying to move e.g. to the right side. I noticed this behavior as
well in several proprietary games.

Volker, the change is already done. Sorry

I fixed this for Debian 9's akonadi 4:16.04.3-4. I replaced all 7 binary
packages built from that source which I had installed with the new ones with
this command:
# dpkg -i akonadi-backend-mysql_16.04.3-4.0.1_all.deb
akonadi-server_16.04.3-4.0.1_i386.deb
libkf5akonadiagentbase5_16.04.3-4.0.1_i386.deb
libkf5akonadicore5_16.04.3-4.0.1_i386.deb
libkf5akonadiprivate5_16.04.3-4.0.1_i386.deb
libkf5akonadiwidgets5_16.04.3-4.0.1_i386.deb

I assume that only one of these is necessary (probably libkf5akonadicore5), but
I didn't test. If anyone wants to confirm, that would be appreciated.

I packaged the binary packages in
