I will download the 15.0 and 15.1 sources and do a diff to see what has changed, even though they are both reporting 'version 3.6'. Installing flatpack, installing the execution & development environment, downloading all the stuff required just to run their version of kpat is non-trivial and far removed from the basic tools that have been around since the days of UNIX, and are adequate to the side-by-side testing. Due to the fact that the rendering result depends heavily on fontconfig configuration and installed fonts, rendering verification is best done by displaying the same text in Konsole and something known to render properly (GUI text editor, web browser). BTW. I've pushed new commit which groups characters by scripts they belong to. All unicode scripts are covered, not only Malayalam. Are you sure the returned alpha mask in FrameSvgPrivate::alphaMask is correct?
If not please verify that before we look at anything on the kwin side.
Easiest debug step is to just add
d->alphaMask().save("/tmp/frameMaskTest.png");
in FrameSvg::mask()
It appears to read from a bunch of SVG elements with a "mask-" prefix, and
you've not mentioned that on your steps.

Now Gimp is working perfectly, I can save images in heic format with no error. So the only remaining issue in Digikam 7.0 Beta 2, for me, is the fact that large input files save extremely slowly in .heic format. I'd say that CR3 input files save so slowly, that in effect it is broken, it's taking so long most users like I did, will not realize it's still functioning, will think the app has frozen, and shut it down. Because you stop getting any feedback or indication that it is still working. It'll just say something like "Saving...70%" and you'll have no indication that it's making further progress. If there is no way to speed up the saving behavior (due to the external library dependency), maybe it would at least by possible to give user a prompt indicating this save could take a long time, and give them the option to cancel out of the operation gracefully rather than forcibly terminate the program. Some other notifications are instead only showing up in the kcon system tray icon. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Send a: sms message, whatsapp message, discord message to phone 2. Phone vibrates, notifies etc. 3. At this point kcon sends the information to the desktop 4a. If it was a sms then I get a notification on the desktop as well (same with youtube). 4b. If it was whatsapp/discord I do not get a notification on the desktop. Instead, the kcon tray icon is the only way to see I even received anything. 5. Also, the 'reply' button in the notification for sms (because it shows up) doesn't do anything. Replying only works if clicking the '<-" arrow in the kcon system tray which opens the window where I can type a message. Likewise, youtube notifications seem to have new buttons that also do not seem to do anything. OBSERVED RESULT Whatsapp/discord notifications are not properly sent to the desktop, even though in the past they were. SMS and youtube notifications are sent, but they appear to have broken actions. EXPECTED RESULT All notifications that appear on the phone should also appear on the desktop. If there is a reply button or any other action button then that should work.
