[kate] [Bug 486194] Text scrolling with mouse selection doesn't work on X11
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486194 --- Comment #3 from mozo --- I just realized what the problem is - when the mouse left the Kate/Kwrite borders, it stops to drag the text but it shouldn't. It's working correctly with Wayland and Plasma 5 X11 and Wayland and there if the mouse is out of the Kate/Kwrite borders but the left mouse button is pressed, it continues to drag the text as it should be and as it's how it is on every other text editor. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Committed on 27/04/2024 at 15:24. Pushed by alex into branch 'master'. KFileItemActions: Add logic to order actions between separators Commit 337853329c61c9cfe5e369acf65a8eca94e5e7fd has purposedly ordered actions by their name. However, this breaks separators in service context menus. For example: Actions=progressive;optimize;\_SEPARATOR\_;compress_50;compress_70;compress_75 The separator would end up at the end of the list: Actions=compress_50;compress_70;compress_75;progressive|optimize;\_SEPARATOR\_ And since the logic check if the separator is the last item to add it: !actions.last()->isSeparator() separators basically disappear from service context menus. The purpose of this commit is then to create groups of actions between each separator. Actions will be sorted within these groups, but it will keep service menus original order. [kdenlive] [Bug 486207] New: [Feature request] Implement CTRL + X functionality. Absence of very common action across generally most applications in the world, to "cut".
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486207 Bug ID: 486207 Summary: [Feature request] Implement CTRL + X functionality. Absence of very common action across generally most applications in the world, to "cut". Classification: Applications Product: kdenlive Version: 24.02.2 Platform: Microsoft Windows OS: Microsoft Windows Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: User Interface Assignee: j...@kdenlive.org Reporter: balrogwhip123...@proton.me Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 168950 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=168950=edit How shortucts look like Hello! There are action that are missing in kdenlive and overcomplicates workflow, I have to make 2 extra steps to just make "cut". Bassicaly, almost any app have "CTRL+X" action to cut things. This action is the sequence of COPY -> DELETE. Kdenlive has "cut", but some kind of "slice", not cut in the default meaning. Why the absence of it is bad? Let me explain on my workflow. I have 2 sequences. I want to cut 2 clips from 1st sequence and paste it in 2nd sequence. Without this CTRL+X action I have to 1) Copy 2) Switch to 2nd sequence 3) Paste in 2nd sequence 4) Return to 1st sequence tab 5) Finally delete. This is very bad UX. So my proposal is: 1) Add CTRL+X as "CUT". CUT is an action to cut selected clips from timeline as a whole. 2) Rename current "CUT" to something that are more suitable by meaning. I would suggest "SLICE". That is what we are doing with this action -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[dolphin] [Bug 486209] New: Dolphin file opening fails outside KDE environments after update
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486209 Bug ID: 486209 Summary: Dolphin file opening fails outside KDE environments after update Classification: Applications Product: dolphin Version: 24.02.2 Platform: Arch Linux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: tonda.fisc...@gmail.com CC: kfm-de...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- Description: After a recent system update, Dolphin file manager has ceased to function properly outside of KDE environments. Attempting to open any file leads to the default application assignment window popping up; however, this window is now showing empty without listing any applications, as if all application associations have disappeared. This issue became noticeable with the introduction of Plasma 6, at which point I could resolve the problem by manually starting the /bin/kded6 service, allowing default applications and xdg-open to operate normally. However, following the latest update, this workaround is no longer effective, and the default application window remains empty, leaving no possibility to launch any files. Impact: This is a critical issue as it completely hinders the functionality of Dolphin in non-KDE desktop environments, affecting productivity and system usability. Steps to reproduce: 1. Update the system including Dolphin and KDE components on arch. 2. Open Dolphin in a non-KDE environment. 3. Try to open any file. 4. Observe that the default application assignment window opens but contains no applications. Expected behavior: Files should open with their associated default applications as defined in the system settings or fall back to using xdg-open. Actual behavior: The default application window is empty, and no files can be opened directly from Dolphin. System information: KDE version: Plasma 6 Dolphin version: 24.02.2 Operating System: Arch Linux Severity: Critical Note: This issue does not occur within KDE environments, only when using Dolphin in other desktop environments. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[kdenlive] [Bug 486211] New: [Feature request] Add ability to drag video with middle mouse button press down (hold) in Project monitor and Clip monitor and remove restricitions

There are multiple issues with it, though it exists: 1) There are limitation. I can't use it if I zoomed out video or not zoomed at all, only when zoomed in. Also when there is no clip at all 2) When clicking middle mouse button the play of the clip starts. 3) There are maximum zoom out and zoom in limits, that prevent me from working with some effects. For example I wan't to zoom in thaaat much, that I would see pixels. But I can't (this is a very bad restriction, that prevents creative from going on). So my proposal is: 1) Allow to use middle mouse button when not zoomed, when zoomed in, when zoomed out, when there aren't any other clip. 2) Remove !SIDE EFFECT of play start when clicking with middle mouse (this is very bad neighborhood) AND monitor toggle (or what is also there?). 3) Remove limits of zooming IN and zooming OUT (to the most possible extent). I can zoom in and zoom out to around 1 pixel of video (for example). 4) Make the background of project monitor checkered (darkened white - lightened black). 5) Add some kind of grids to snap to it when moving things around. Alignment and snapping is very important if we want to add nice effects to the clip. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[krdc] [Bug 486178] VNC plugin deadlocks on connection
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486178 --- Comment #1 from Thiago Macieira --- I'd say "vncplugin doesn't work at all, ever, under any conditions, if you try to use it" is sufficient for "critical", but ok for "grave" BTW, I tried to fix that function myself. I can apply a workaround to just restore the previous behaviour, but that's papering over the sun with a sieve. I really don't understand what's going on and what is being locked. Is it trying to protect m_stopped? Why not use an atomic instead? Or, better, QThread::isInterruptionRequested()? But on line 549, it accesses m_stopped without a mutex, so I don't know if it needed protecting in the first place. Ditto for m_passwordError: why not an atomic? Or why not use a local variable and only lock to save the state when exiting the function? This code should be rewritten with closer locks, not that one QMutexLocker at the top that is used incorrectly. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

So I've worked with Krita / Gimp for long time and there is addon that adds a lot of effects to the artistic arsenal. Let me introduce: G'MIC https://gmic.eu/index.html. [plasmashell] [Bug 486217] New: Suspend fails due to QQuickPixmapRea
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486217 Bug ID: 486217 Summary: Suspend fails due to QQuickPixmapRea Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: 6.0.4 Platform: Fedora RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: major Priority: NOR Component: Session Management Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: roguefor...@protonmail.com CC: natalie_clar...@yahoo.de Target Milestone: 1.0 Created attachment 168956 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=168956=edit Journalctl logs SUMMARY: Whenever I try to suspend, there's chance that the suspension fails. It goes to SDDM and the screen becomes very dark, but the system doesn’t actually suspends. It stays on a “fake” suspend state. I don’t get video signal, nor any way of getting commands or TTY going. The only option I have is to force restart the PC. I've exported the journal ctl logs to see what caused the problem and I've traced to the user space failing to freeze processes due to a task called “QQuickPixmapRea”, of which there's no documentation on what it does (I looked everywhere and the closest was QtQuick). STEPS TO REPRODUCE: 1. Suspend. OBSERVED RESULT: It goes to SDDM, the screen gets very dark and the system becomes very quiet. Clicking on the power button to resume suspend makes the system active, but I get no video signal. I'm unable to get anything or a TTY going. EXPECTED RESULT: It goes to SDDM and the screen becomes black. The system suspends and the status light on the tower starts blinking. For making things a bit easier when using Activities, I placed the "Show Activity Manager" widget on the panel, which I click to open the Activities list, switch between them and even stop activities once I'm done with them. The problem is, the activity manager does not always switch between activities, requiring to use the keyboard shortcuts for that. The stop activity button also does not work. It doesn't happen always. There are times it does work but, most of the time, it doesn't. I couldn't find a pattern. I even restarted the computer many times. It's like many loops were spawned for each menu item and all are processing at the same time as the swiping happens. Please note: If I increase the swiping motion, the UI freezes for duration of 5 to more seconds and CPU usages increases, then it respond again after the CPU usage is decreased and if no further swiping motion was detect on the menu items. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open start menu using the panel applet/widget/icon 2. Immediately start hovering over the menu and immediately experience UI freeze 3. Wait for 2 seconds for UI to respond 4. Swipe the mouse cursor in a moderate speed over the menu items and experience slow UI response and high CPU usage (about 6% on my CPU) OBSERVED RESULT Experience one or more UI freezes in the menu as well as a bit of CPU usage spike. EXPECTED RESULT Experience no freezes/delays nor CPU usage spikes either after swiping cursor motion or opening the application launcher. [kdenlive] [Bug 485259] does not appear video
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=485259 --- Comment #5 from Bernd --- (In reply to ksso from comment #3) > here is a screen recording > https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OapI5KZVJxt7grP3b_tvf4c1tP-6A-PD/ > view?usp=sharing > > thank you very much Thanks for uploading the screen recording. I would assume that both files play ok in VLC, for example. You are using 23.08.5 which is not quite one year old, but a lot of things have changed with version 24.02.2, and 24.05 is close to be released as Beta. Perhaps you can help testing it. If you do not want to wait for the new release, I suggest to un-install your version and upgrade to 24.02.2. If that's not possible for whatever reason (for example you need the audio recording feature which is missing in 24.02.2 due to Qt6 issues) I suggest you un-install your version and install 23.08.5 which was a stable release before the switch from Qt5 to Qt6. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[dolphin] [Bug 414478] User Should definitely be warned every time an Invalid filename is used!
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=414478 myusualnickn...@gmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added CC||myusualnickn...@gmail.com --- Comment #7 from myusualnickn...@gmail.com --- It looks like a forward slash, but it is a replacement look alike character that we cannot type. I filed a bug for that in kde 4 but the bug was marked invalid because someone was proud of breaking our systems... adding a feature that they thought was cool. It is worse than that, Case preserving case insensitive filesystems can clobber data if a new filename is made differing only by case. It is worse than that, filenames can be anything other than null and forward slash. So the escape sequence that messes with terminals can be sent. Ever cat a binary file and have your terminal get messed up? Well, we're living with a huge vulnerability in files like that. Dolphin should flag files with harmful characters. Basically there should be a test to see if a file name is valid unicode, and then check for a list of banned characters. I would like this in the device driver/filesystem level on the system, but it requires communication with the user space. Creating a file with the same name but different case should cause a problem. This is a very severe problem that people just ignore. (In reply to witchhunter from comment #5) > TIL things are even worse. > Dolphin clearly allows you to create a filename containing '/' (forward > slash) on EXT4. > 1) Don't know what is the reasoning behind this witchcraft but this is only > doing more harm than good. > 2) With all due respect to KDE devs, but don't they show the same upstream, > to EXT4 founders. This is just unprofessional. > 3) More ironically Dolphin throws nice warning when you try to name a > directory containing the forward slash sign. This is plane inconsistency. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[systemsettings] [Bug 177889] add ability to configure multiple keyboards
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=177889 myusualnickn...@gmail.com changed: What|Removed |Added CC||myusualnickn...@gmail.com --- Comment #8 from myusualnickn...@gmail.com --- This also has security implications. Plugging in a dongle can p0wn a system. A dongle can appear as a usb thumb drive and a HID device. I propose that a second keyboard should start with a very limited input method(maybe two keys work), and a captcha should be completed to enable the keyboard. This requires some low level digging, maybe down to QT or xkb or kernel hid support, but this is highly related to that. I am very interested in helping further this. if anybody can tell me what libraries to start looking at, I'll research. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
[Spectacle] [Bug 485988] [Feature request] Escape while selecting region doesn't quit, but brings up main window
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=485988 --- Comment #2 from John --- Wow, thank you for a very thoughtful answer. It seems that I can do what I wanted using the -rb flags. I had followed the entry in the .desktop file for RectangularRegionScreenShot, which is just -r (which now I look closer actually does seem to instantly dismiss from the Plasma shortcut, but not from the command line!) So I don't think it's absolutely necessary to change it, since there is indeed a combination of arguments which results in an instant-dismiss on Escape. Though perhaps if the shortcut via the desktop file and the command line did the same thing, it would be slightly more intiutive (or is is it that when launching from the desktop file, the "open the GUI on cancel" is what is supposed to happen and doesn't?) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[dolphin] [Bug 486226] New: Custom Columns as plugin or script in details view
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486226 Bug ID: 486226 Summary: Custom Columns as plugin or script in details view Classification: Applications Product: dolphin Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: view-engine: details mode Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: myusualnickn...@gmail.com CC: kfm-de...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- I worked as a document scanner, and we had to have our files match some really stupid formats. With microsoft explorer, I was able get the dev environment up, find examples, and create a column that I could sort by that was a regular expression search on the name. I could create a column from the filename where I reordered the date format to MMDD and then was able to sort nicely, and it happened within an evening. It would also be nice to be able to refer to a search index, or actually read the file and grep each file searching the contents and counting the occurrences of words. Basically, there could be a plugin system, or this feature could be a custom column with meta data taken from a meta data library (to read resolution of the image, compression type, number of pages in a pdf or tiff image) and using a regex on the filename or filename contents. This would appear as add custom tab, and there should be no limit to the number of them. When a custom tab is added to the list of tabs, it can be edited, a selection of metadata library, regex, or file search, or shell command. the metadata library could populate a submenu with all the types of data. bitrate,x pixels, y pixels ,inches, word count, signed date, there are so many things this could be. there may be more than one metadata scraper. We wouldn't even need to compile anything. KDE has had cool regex searches in a few applications before, so that may already have components ready. Basically, this is an advanced col *** If you're not sure this is actually a bug, instead post about it at https://discuss.kde.org If you're reporting a crash, attach a backtrace with debug symbols; see https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** SUMMARY STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. 2. 3.
