[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1432405] Re: [Toshiba Equium A100-306] WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 968 at /build/buildd/linux-3.19.0/drivers/gpu/drm/drm_irq.c:1121 drm_wait_one_vblank+0x170/0x180 [drm]()

2017-01-07 Thread NJ
Sorry, but could someone tell me which package or kernel I have to
install to get the fix for this problem? I am on Mint 18.1, and I
encounter the bug when using 4.8 kernels (but not 4.4, which are the
currently recommended kernels for Mint). The GRUB / kernel boot string
workaround does work for me, but I'd rather have the proper fix. Thanks.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1594023] Re: Poweroff or reboot hangs. Laptop won't shutdown. 16.04

2017-01-07 Thread Thinkren
Has it been confirmed that only Samsung SSD are affected? I'm
experiencing the same problem on a Gigabyte Brix (GB-BXBT-1900) running
on a Toshiba OCZ TR150 (120gb). Just installed Lubuntu 16.04 LTS and
stumbled on this bug.

Title:
Poweroff or reboot hangs. Laptop won't shutdown. 16.04

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
This is about a fresh Ubuntu 16.04 install on a new laptop (asus
x540sa). After pressing the shutdown button in the start menu; the
shutdown procedure starts and in the final splash screen the system
just hangs. Tried a second time by pressing Esc once the splash screen
showed up and I saw that it reaches the line "Reached target shutdown"
and just stops there, no matter how long I leave it there the machine
  won't turn off.

I also tried a Kubuntu 16.04 fresh install on the same machine and it
hanged too at the final splash screen where the pulsating logo
stopped. Then I tried with Esc only to see the exact same line in the
  end.

The issue seems to affect lately quite many users as shown by the
google results of the past month / week or so.

I have also tried shutting down from the console with shutdown -and
all the parameters after that suggested online- and sudo poweroff but
unfortunately they didn't do the trick. The exact same situation
  occurred.

Unmounting the swap as suggested online doesn't work.

Also rebooting the system is not working either due to the same issue.

So right now the only way for me to poweroff the machine is to press
the power button on the keyboard continuously.

  Reproducible: Always

  Steps to Reproduce:
  1.Install OS
  2.Do something, anything or nothing
  3.Try to shutdown or reboot

  Actual Results:
The computer is not shutting down: "Reached target shutdown" and hangs there.

  Expected Results:
  Powering off the machine.

For what it's worth, closing the lid won't suspend the system, but
using the menu buttons for suspension will do it.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1579760] Re: Protocol RC-6 no longer available for soundgraph imon (15c2:ffdc)

2017-01-07 Thread Jord Swart
Since this is an old bug: I confirm the issue is still there.

** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu)
   Status: Incomplete => Confirmed

Title:
Protocol RC-6 no longer available for soundgraph imon (15c2:ffdc)

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in v4l-utils package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  $ lsb_release -rd
  Description: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
  Release: 16.04

  $ apt-cache policy ir-keytable
  ir-keytable:
Installed: 1.10.0-1
Candidate: 1.10.0-1
Version table:
   *** 1.10.0-1 500
  500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/universe amd64 Packages
  100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

== What used to happen in older releases:
In older versions of ir-keytable I was able to set my soundgraph imon
(15c2:ffdc) to use protocol RC-6.

The way I did it was by changing the file:
  /lib/udev/rc_keymaps/imon_pad

and make the first line look like:
  # table imon_pad, type: RC-6

== What actually happens in the current release:
In the 16.04 release of Ubuntu this is no longer possible. The output of
ir-keytable also doesn't list the RC-6 protocol as available.

  $ sudo ir-keytable
  Found /sys/class/rc/rc0/ (/dev/input/event4) with:
Driver imon, table rc-imon-pad
Supported protocols: other
Enabled protocols:
Name: iMON Remote (15c2:ffdc)
bus: 3, vendor/product: 15c2:ffdc, version: 0x
Repeat delay = 500 ms, repeat period = 125 ms

With the "other" protocol enabled my arrow keys deliver double key
clicks, so clicking up once actually moves the cursor two lines up (in
  kodi that is).

Forcing the device to RC-6 with:
  $ sudo echo RC-6 > /sys/class/rc/rc0/protocols

  fixes the double clicks.

== What should happen in the current release:
IMHO ir-keytable should actually list RC-6 as a protocol for this (specific)
device and it should be relatively easy to assign this protocol. Either by
using ir-keytable, or updating the imon_pad file.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1579190

I just entered the same problem with: "[[C^" echoes continuously in all
VTs, but not Terminal.

Some places this where said to be Logitech related. I bought another
keyboard today and the issue is still present. It even continously
repeat when there are no keyboard attached.

This is a stationery PC with Ubuntu 16.04 and the problem suddenly
starteds when developing with IntelliJ. Now the computer is useless.

2017-01-07 Thread brunomelniic
I changed the distro version, from 16.04 to 16.10 of Ubuntu Mate.
In this version, the wifi works from the start.
The kernel version running is 4.8.0-32-generic

Do you want me to run any other test and send results?

  battery informatin displayed incorrectly

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I did a fresh install of ubuntu 16.04.1 on an asus x556uak laptop and
noticed that when connected to AC and the battery is not charging the
system shows the battery icon as discharging , but when the battery

system shows the battery icon as connected to AC and charging.

Also I've noticed that all though I have 2 38 Whr cells ubuntu is only
detecting one 38 Whr cell, as if the second one doesn't exist? But
maybe this is not a bug and it switches to secondary battery when the
  1st one is empty?

I noticed then that the airplane mode key function (fn+f2) doesn't work at
all, and also that the airplane mode led is lit all the time.

When I go to network settings and turn the airplane mode on the light
goes off, and when turned off the light goes on. The LED is working
  reversely.

I have tried to see the output of dmesg | grep iwl but nothing appears
  in the terminal.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1654769] [NEW] Airplane mode function key not working and led light working reversely

2017-01-07 Thread david
Public bug reported:

Hi all, I did a fresh install of ubuntu 16.04.1 on an asus x556uak laptop.
I noticed then that the airplane mode key function (fn+f2) doesn't work at all,
and also that the airplane mode led is lit all the time.

When I go to network settings and turn the airplane mode on the light
goes off, and when turned off the light goes on. The LED is working
reversely.

I have tried to see the output of dmesg | grep iwl but nothing appears
in the terminal.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1654064] Re: Touchpad not working correctly

2017-01-07 Thread david
Hello Joseph Salisbury, I cannot test another kernel because I'm
currently using a module that solves a bluetooth bug which works only
with my current kernel, as you can see from here:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1653843
http://askubuntu.com/questions/867645/bluetooth-not-discovering-any-devices-on-ubuntu-16-04

This issue did not start happening after any update or upgrade, I did a
fresh install and the bug was there.

This bug has allready been adressed here:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1587913

At the end of the bug report there is a link to the site where the
module that solves the problem can be downloaded. The link to the module
download is:

https://github.com/vlasenko/hid-asus-dkms

I have tested it with an asus x556uak laptop with kaby lake and ubuntu
16.04.1 and it works.

However if you desire any further information or output from my terminal I'll
gladly provide it.
Thank you for your time.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1438510] Re: [REGRESSION] bluetooth headset no longer supports a2dp in 16.04 xenial and 16.10 yakkety

2017-01-07 Thread Henrik Langli
#51 doesn't work on 16.10:

# killall pulseaudio; rm -r ~/.config/pulse/* ; pulseaudio -k
E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Failed to kill daemon: No such process
#

But at least I got rid of my pulseaudio config :-)

This bug will soon have its 2 year anniversary - are anybody preparing
celebrations?

Bug description:
Just installed 15.04 fresh from the latest ISO (beta2).

I'm bummed to see my bluetooth headset (Bose Soundlink overear) seems
  to have regressed in functionality.

In 14.10, I was able to set the output profile either to a2dp or
  hsp/hfp (telephony duplex).

In 15.04, it only works in telephony duplex mode. I can't get high
fidelity sound playback to work at all.

This thread seems to be related, though the workaround within did not solve
the problem for me:
  https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=194006

The bug is still present in 16.04 LTS and 16.10.
