I think you mean Kevin Kelly. He's the guy that designed and built the
KR100, and drew up some of the RR plans drawings.

KR> N5424N

2008-11-17 Thread Benjamin Copeland
I'm pretty familiar with N5424N and the builder in Asheville NC - I went to
purchase it in 2006 and the owner decided not to sell while filling out the
papers. It was a sad day for me - the closest I've gotten to getting a KR2.
My wife and I fit inside nicely too. :(

The airframe was donated to a non-profit last year without engine (FW
forward) or instruments. The non-profit re-sold the airframe. Email me
offline if you want to know more. I'd love to see pictures of the
rejuvenated 5424N.

I have added lots of new photos on my web age on the failed cam gear. The wear

KR> first engine run - turbo diesel in a caravan

2008-11-17 Thread Barry Kruyssen
Sorry for replying on line but Dave's ISP rejects emails from Australia :-(

Hi Dave

Do you have another email address I can email you on that doesn't reject
Australia?

You want real economy and more power from a turbo diesel? Fit LPG to you
engine. See http://www.dieselongas.com or just google "diesel gas" to get a
lot of information.

I have done my Isuzu 4x4 2.8L turbo and it is fantastic. More power and
torque than I thought possible. When I stop driving it like an 18 year old
kid it gets much better fuel economy.

Summary on how it works. Diesel on burns about 76% efficiency, by
introducing a little gas with the air going into the engine the diesel then
burns more like 95% efficiency. There are no modifications to the diesel
engine or fuel system, just the air intake has a LPG injector added to it.
The beauty of this is that when you run out of LPG you just are back to
running your engine as it was before.

There are many different systems, computerized, low pressure draw off,
demand system to name a few. I have gone for a NON computerized system as
they are cheaper, less prone to problems and I can tweak it myself.

I'll get the system name and type for you from the guy who fitted mine and
email it to you.

Sounded great John. Reminds me of my diversion from my KR2S to put a
turbo diesel in a caravan. Very similar events. I'm almost ready for the
third and hopefully final time of dropping the engine / trans into the
Virginia body. http://www.vwdiesel.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=15633

Soon I'll be back to KR land of building :-D

I've recently joined the KRnet after our non-profit organization received a
donation of a KR-2 (N147S serial number 2079). I'm told this particular KR-2
won first prize at Oshkosh some years back.

Michael,
This KR2 originated in Yakima, Washington. The builder was Jerry Robinson.
He was an Attorney in the area. He used to be good buddies with Steve Kelly
and I have many pictures of his KR2 flying with Steve's KR100 in Yakima. At
that time it had a revmaster in it and when he converted to the continental
I traded a set of fixed aluminum main gear to him for his prop. He was also
selling plans for his version of canopy which I bought, but never used.

The info below is not KR related, but figured some of my KR friends might
want to know.

Ps. I've been out of circulation for months and probably will be for many
more months as I had a head on collision with a car while riding my Harley
home from work back in May. A lady turned left in front of me with about one
car length of warning. http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/buddymidkiff

Hi Steve;

Oh heavens no, I wouldn't do that. Mark wants a copy of my KR-2's for
X-Plane and he sent me an e-mail from YouTube and I haven't been able
contact him back because it won't accept my password for some reason and I

I found the info below on the net. Unless the engine has been changed, it has
a VW installed and is registered as a single place KR2. I wonder if
there is any connection between the builder and the fact that N147S
was at one time assigned to a Martin 404. Good luck and get the
airplane inside if you get any weather. Constant sun will not do it
any good either.
