I'm a 185 pounder and 5'10" high and I fit (with a "cloned " passenger 
)resonable comfortable in my 40" wide  Kr! When I widened my fuselage ,I put 
back the 40" to the shoulder area.Therefore I had to put back the straight line 
of the longerons a little  ( 10-12 inch). Therby,making the turtle deck was a 
bit tricky,because it had to be spherical in this area.(due to the slightly 
curved longerons).
Of course the Kr2s is a comfortable single seater also with plenty of storage.
I would not recommend to build a "Kr 1 s" because  then you will lose the 
mentioned advantages of a two seater. And finaly ,to build a  single seat 
"Kr1s" with an emty weight  of about  400 to 450 pounds is almost  impossible.

This is so very true but width is not the only issue. If your tall, I am 6'5", 
you will need to make it deeper too or you will have to raise the canopy in 
some way. Early on I made a cockpit mock-up because of my size. I went two 
inches wider and deeper. I should have gone 4" wider, the depth is perfect for 
the Dragonfly canopy. Remember it is your airplane so make it fit you. The 
basic structure is wonderfully adaptable.

While I?m only 5?9? i have wide shoulders. I widened my fuselage to 43? at the 
outer edge of  the upper longerons.
Like a glove. I?m crafting everything i can.( some are a learn as you go). I 
want to buy as little as possible. 
So modifying is not an issue for me.

  ALL KR's are KR1's.  Unless you and your "fly buddy" are anorexic midgets, 
your not going to fit.  That is a common issue with airplanes.  I do learn a 
lot from this group about aircraft construction and that is why I am here.

Just to clear up a common misconception, the KR2S is exactly the same width
in the cockpit as the KR2, no wider.  The one thing that begged to be
changed was left untouched!  I asked Jeannette why shortly after it was
introduced and she said it was so the KR2S could use the same premolded
parts as the KR2.  Go figure. 

Now you know why people modify these things...it simply must be modified to

Hi all, 

A new member question here. 

My primary interest is a single seater, but it seems to me that most of the 
builders building 2 seaters. Since I am a first time builder, I have to 
rely more on others advice than more experienced builders, but if there are 
not too many single seater builders, it would be an uphill battle. 

The other fact is that the KR-2S have all the latest and greatest 
improvements in it, so I am thinking to get a KR-2S and narrow down the 
fuselage to 1 person, build it light with a 60hp or so VW engine. That way 
I can use the advice of the majority of the builders, I can use prefab 
parts as available and I can build a LIGHT single seater plane with 400+ 
lbs empty weight, 800 lbs gross weight as it was designed originally. 

Is there a downside of my plan? 

Is there anyone else building along this plan?
