Another shot of Gene's KR-1. I sat next to him at the KR dinner that year. We had a nice conversation. What stuck with me is that he mentioned that he had a bad head cold at the time. KR> KRnet Search Engine support, and PLEASE READ and comply with the RULES!
KRnetHeads, First, let me thank the kind folks who have graciously helped the cause of getting the KRnet Search Engine back up and running. I really appreciate it. It's the same few people who always come through. Tom assures me he's working it. Your contributions will help him decide if he should be working our issue or working real "paying jobs". That search engine contains every email to the list from 1995, so it's value is incalculable, especially to new users who want to "know everything" right now. Also, I'm way overdue to remind people to PLEASE READ THE LIST RULES! They are posted at http://www.krnet.org/info.html, and clearly a lot of folks on the list now have never read them! Please read and comply, or look for another KR list. To be specific, trim the footer stuff out of your replies, as well as the vast majority of previous posts! And if you don't have something useful to say, go talk to your dog instead of the list. A lot of useless chatter makes the list more annoying, and some of the most knowledgeable veterans start wondering why they waste their time reading the list (including me). I'm not trying to stifle real KR information exchange (although these emails from me always have that effect), just don't get off topic and start making small talk. Many of us don't have time for small talk...let's keep to KR stuff, or at least aviation. I give up trying to train people to post photos to the list. The vast majority take them out of their cameras and phones and send 2M files direct to the list, andit doesn't work! I've posted instructions several times on the simple process to reduce the size to something reasonable and then compress the files, but apparently it's over the heads of many. So I've raised the limit to 250k (and about 30k of that is consumed by text, depending on your verbosity). If that doesn't work for you, spend another few minutes and figure out how to make the image smaller, or send a link. Again, please read the list rules under "KRNetiquette" at http://www.krnet.org/info.html, and follow them. I've updated them a bit to clarify a few thingsplease check them out. I agree but it's one more complication, more steps, more logging in. If we had a slightly larger size limit that would be by far simplest to get reasonable visual clarity to the group to make a point or share an idea. > Date: Tue, 27 Jan 2015 19:00:24 -0600 > To: krnet at list.krnet.org > Subject: KR> Can We Increase Photo Size Limit Please? > From: krnet at list.krnet.org > > > > An easy way to share high quality photos is to open a "dropbox" > account and then just give the address of a photo(s) you want to > share such as https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32133949/IMG_8717.JPG > > in the body of the e-mail. > > Larry Flesner > > > ___ > Search the KRnet Archives at http://tugantek.com/archmailv2-kr/search. > To UNsubscribe from KRnet, send a message to KRnet-leave at list.krnet.org > please see other KRnet info at http://www.krnet.org/info.html > see http://list.krnet.org/mailman/listinfo/krnet_list.krnet.org to change > options

An easy way to share high quality photos is to open a "dropbox" account and then just give the address of a photo(s) you want to share such as https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32133949/IMG_8717.JPG in the body of the e-mail. Larry Flesner

actually no longer have the asteroids but there is online flash versions to fix the urge! no space. originally, I bought that as a Christmas gift for my little nephew. many years later my uncle said it had stopped working, so he gave it back. I found a used mainboard and got it working again. but due to space reasons, sold it. The middle-aged buyer came, handed me $400 at the time, and of course it was plugged in to demo. but he wouldnt stop playing it. I said "we really should get this loaded up in ur truck!" LOL hope it didnt cause him a divorce... lol yeah that thing was fun. If you have the itch, you can play it in flash. very accurate. http://www.mspacman4u.com/asteroids/ and http://my.ign.com/atari/asteroids Also, I found a flash SWF Asteroids file to download a long time ago which I have, but my media player wont play it anymore! > Date: Tue, 27 Jan 2015 10:31:53 -0500 > To: chrisprata at live.com; krnet at list.krnet.org > Subject: Re: KR> FW: how to share photos to list? > From: deej at deej.net > > On 1/26/2015 11:39 PM, Chris Prata via KRnet wrote: > > My old 1-room efficiency apartment 1994. > > I am jealous of the Asteroids arcade system! :-) > > Please tell me you still have it. KR> foam and glass observations
Good Morning Guys, I have been starting to glass a few things on the current project and have a coupe observations from last time til now. I used a verity of different foams on 357Cj. The tail group was all dow foam from 1, 2, and 3 inch stock. The wings were from 4 inch roofing insulation that was a cured foam with a skin on each side. This foam was very similar in nature to what we commonly are referring to as the KR foam as ordered from the kit spec's. The Dow foam is more difficult or time consuming to shape and sand but to me not a deal breaker. The other observation concerning this and other similar foams (pink or some other color of this type of density) is that I feel that the bond from glass to foam is far better. The sanding chance of damage is far reduced by the harder density also. (scratches and dings or over sanding) The foam that I used for 357CJ wings had resonably good bond and I just had to use more care when sanding. The big difference here is this is the only place that I expereinced bubbles in the glass well after the plane was completed. A couple started showing up with inn the first 6 month's of being in a hanger. They were pretty stable and not much change over the past 9 years until the trip to the gathering this year. The bubbles got bigger by enough to notice during that trip. I installed and glassed over the first piece that I have ever used the real KR spec'd foam. I am not real thrilled with the bond. I vacumed the foam before I glassed and did the skim coating of micro. The foam just does not have the ability to hold as well in my opinion for the same reason that it is easy to sand. From looking at other KR's that I know used this foam the bubbles (blisters may be a better term) are common. I have also used and won't again spray foam to make fillets and bond foams together. The fillets all blistered to some degree and when used as a bond between 2 pieces of foam the spray foam is a denser foam and makes it difficult to sand level. A hard ridge is form by this type of foam. I'm saying what should be done or even that I know how I am going to continue but just raw information to digest. Joe Horton Coopersburg, Pa
