KR> Sun N Fun
Hello Netter's, We are registered and will have a booth for the KR's near the pond behind Hangar "D" this year at Sun n Fun. Any and all interested in the KR are more than welcome to stop by and say hi. We will have a few sets of plans available for sale for those who have been on the fence wondering about availablity. Gary Coppen will have his project there for all to see the first part of the week with one of WW's Corvair engines installed and then, weather permitting, Joe Horton will have his beautiful KR-2S on display for you to drool over the second half of the week. I noticed there are other netters planning to attend and we can use our booth as a rally point if you wish. I'm in for the BBQ thing as well, just let me know time and place. Feel free to contact me direct for more info or ideas. I'm looking forward to attending SnF this year and getting the KR back in circulation for builders in the experimental realm. KR> KR: Newsletter Best Solution
Hello All, I would not be opposed to placing them on the website for sale. If Mr. Capps is ok with that we would need to work out an agreement to that effect. Once we have contact info for him, or if he sees this post maybe he can contact me if he is in fact interested. Regards, Steve Glover -Original Message- From: krnet-boun...@mylist.net [mailto:krnet-boun...@mylist.net] On Behalf Of Glenn Martin Sent: Tuesday, March 23, 2010 7:48 PM To: KRnet Subject: KR> KR: Newsletter Best Solution In regards to the KR newsletter files. I am waiting 30 days for Mr Capps to respond. It certainly is in everyones interest (incluing HIS) if he does. There IS INTEREST in these old newsletter articles, and making them easily available is really my main purpose. The BEST solution (IMHO) would be to let Steve Glover distribute the KR Newsletter CD's through his website. He's doing a GREAT SERVICE to us all, and this would be a way for Mr Capps to continue distributing the newsletters, make his deserved profit, and not have to deal with the distribution (other than burning a stack of disks and getting them to Steve). I know this might be stirring the pot a bit, but you HAVE to admit, its a pot that ,when stirred, serves EVERYONE well. Steve, Larry, Whaddaya say? I'll even buy the 1st one. -- Glenn Martin KR2 N1333A Biloxi, MS, 39532 rep...@martekmississippi.com ___ Search the KRnet Archives at http://www.maddyhome.com/krsrch/index.jsp to UNsubscribe from KRnet, send a message to krnet-le...@mylist.net please see other KRnet info at http://www.krnet.org/info.html
KR> KR-100 For Sale
Hello Netter's Sorry I didn't wait until Friday but I wanted to give the list first chance before I post it on Barnstormers. I have the only KR-100 project other than Kevin Kelly's available for sale. Kevin apparently assisted on this build and all KR-100 related components have been built and installed. The Project is completed through the boat stage, is on the gear with the controls installed. The tail in partially complete with balanced tail surfaces. The fiberglass seat has been constructed and installed and is different from a standard KR seat pan. Controls are all push tube design. The gear is an aluminum spring bar and has Cleveland wheels and brakes. Wing templates are included. Only the top deck is needed for the airframe so you can build it to suit your size/ specs. Some foam is included. This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a one or two of a kind aircraft that was turning speeds in the 240's at Reno. No tire kicker's please as this has to be a quick sale. Best reasonable offer in the next day or so may just have themselves an awesome start to a REALLY fast plane. May deliver for the right offer PLEASE CONTACT OFF NET ONLY!!! Steve Glover kr...@cox.net cell: 714-293-9787
KR> KR3
Actually I have pictures of the KR-3 under power on a lake. The tail was the issue with the design. At speed it would lose effectiveness. There were complete info packs and drawings completed. I'll try to scan some of the stuff I have and put them on our website for everyone to take a look at. It was interesting when we were cleaning out the rest of Rand Robinson's inventory to see some of the items we came across. Complete plans, drawing and info packs for the KR-100, hubs from Ken's ground adjustable props and a couple electric variable pitch props they were working on. There is so much history and parts that most thought had disappeared or didn't even know about. We are keeping as much of it alive as possible but certain things (IE; KR-3) will not be released per our agreement with Jeanette. We came across several items that were used or discontinued that some might still want so we added a clearance section to our website. Not everything is there but it is a good start. Just as an FYI, the President's Day Sale on Diehl Wing skins will be over in 4 more days if anyone wants a huge savings... www.nvaero.com Regards, Steve -Original Message- From: krnet-boun...@mylist.net [mailto:krnet-boun...@mylist.net] On Behalf Of Glenn Martin Sent: Wednesday, February 17, 2010 11:59 AM To: KRnet Subject: KR> KR3 I know Ken passed before he could complete the project, but did Jeanette Rand ever release any of the information on the KR3 that he was working on before he died? it certainly would be a good addition to the family, and I am certain that there would be some folks (like me0 who would be interested in pursuing this project to its completion. KR> Ol' Blue
HI Dan, I thought you were going to let us buy Blue and rebuild her? I guess that's why I hadn't heard from you. We have virtually all the original molds for the plane and can make her like new. Your call I guess. Steve Glover -Original Message- Hi Ed; I won't know until I get it back home this spring or early summer whether any of it is rebuildable or not but I intend to find out and give it a try if I'm able. I'm not sure how much you could replace and still call it Ol' Blue. KR> Address -
Hi Eric, I didn't receive any messages that I remember. I did completely lose my hard drive a little over a month ago and lost virtually all my contact info. I am still waiting to see what I get back from the data recovery from the old drive. I try to stay on top of anything that comes in by email or with the blackberry. I am leaving in a few minutes for surgery but will contact you direct in the next day or so once I am able to function again from the medications. Sorry for the inconvenience. Our web address is www.nvaero.com. The other address that is posted keeps popping up is left over from when we were searching for a service provider. Although it will get you there, it is confusing. We have been trying to get the provider to fix whatever it is causing the change... Sorry to the netter's for posting here. I just wanted to make sure Eric received the message before I leave for surgery. KR> GEAR
I shipped out a new nose gear strut overnight to him yesterday. Apparently it wasn't real bad. He was giving a demo ride to the new buyer who made a hard landing on the nose gear. I had a few different calls regarding the nose gear strut yesterday. The biggest question I am getting is regarding the strength of the strut for heavier engines. Both Mark Jones and Joe Horton have the strut on their KR's with the Corvair engine. Jones has added an additional gusset. I think Joe's is stock. With all the heavier engines being used right now we are looking into a couple modifications to support the additional weigh of these engines. I spoke with Dan Diehl for awhile yesterday regarding the changes that are needed. To alleviate the concerns voiced to us we may have something that will meet the needs of both the VW and Corvair guy's soon. KR> Re: Rand Robinson Engineering - Friday Version Long
Hello Netter's. We are providing plans for the KR series of aircraft, however, orders can still be placed from Jeanette as well. You will notice on our website our plans prices are slightly higher than what Rand Robinson sells them for. The reason for this is that we have to pay full retail for them. Basically we just redistribute the plans and make them more readily available. The additional cost to purchase through us just offsets the extra handling and credit card fees we have to pay to provide this convenience to builders. We essentially do not make anything on them other than the immediate service we provide. We typically keep sets of plans in stock so there is minimal time lapse between receiving an order and shipping. For all parts orders one can order, receive a confirmation, and track your order through our website. You don't have to wonder where it is or what is going on. If you do have any questions you can call us and 90% of the time someone will answer your call. Another benefit of buying through us is you can pay with your credit card or check. Whichever you prefer. There is an option upon check out where you can choose to pick up your order, or pay by check but it gets the order I the system so we know it is coming. Most of the time there will not be any lag between order and shipping. We have 2 orders that are still pending. One is because our mold was damaged and is not quite repaired yet, the other should be filled before Christmas. Once Eric and I returned from the Gathering he was deployed for awhile to support an operation with the Navy. I have had to move hangars twice while he was gone as we seem to keep running out of room which was not fun. On the trip back from Dan Diehl's I aggravated an injury on my knee that was left over from the Marine Corps and pretty well finished it off at Copperstate Fly-In in Arizona in October. I have been moving slower than I had hoped in getting things accomplished due to the limited movement and pain. I will be having knee surgery on the 29th of this month and am hoping to have a relatively short recovery time. Eric is back from deployment and being reassigned to a stateside unit so we should be able to get things moving along a little more smoothly. I would hate to see anyone give up on their project due to feeling like they have no support. Any questions concerning the KR can be directed to us and we are happy to help the best we can. From here on out we are the Authorized Factory Support for the KR series of aircraft and are supplying all parts and accessories. Although the website still does not reflect everything we have, we are adding product as we can. If something you need is not listed send us an email and we can probably get it for you if we don't already have it. Another avenue for support is the KRnet. This is by far one of the best tools we have for building the KR. The resources here are very extensive. With the websites from Mark Jones and Dan Heath, we have a lot of good stuff. Nothing compares to the information and real world data that Mark Langford has on his website. It is very safe to say that if it were not for Mark and his love of tinkering and documentation the KR would have most likely dies out a very long time ago for the reasons mention in the past few postings. We hope to also have a some of the information listed in specific categories on our forum for landing gear, wings, etc for the products we provide for easy access for those who do not know about the KR net or some of these other great sites. One of our next things to do is to have our own builders website showing the progress on our factory demonstrator and what we have been doing. People have been asking us how things are going so I this would be a good way let everyone know. Lastly, I have received several e-mails about the electric speed brake, flap actuator. It can be purchased in 4" or 6" travel. We provide the panel indicator light and panel switch or, if you are going to operate it from the stick we have the relay and wiring diagram as well. The actuator is rated at 110lbs dynamic and 500lbs static. I have used it on the LongEZ without any problems and there are several other flying. I have not heard of any failures. Thanks for your patience as we grow. If anyone has any questions, please contact me off list. If related to business stuff please use steve.glo...@nvaero.com. Sincerely, Steve Glover Production Manager www.nvaero.com -Original Message- i just gave up on them all together and i am selling my KR2 because they have no support. good luck Ron Garrison
