Re: KR> Missing Marty
Marty was a fantastic guy and I’m proud to say a close friend. One day while at Dan’s place Marty said that he was going to let me fly his airplane. Steve Alderman was there along with Dan. As Marty was talking me through the preflight Steve asked if I was afraid? I said no and he said “you should be”. Marty laughed and kept talking. As soon as I took off I was thinking that I sure hope I can land this thing and don’t tear up Marty’s airplane. Mind you that this was only my second flight in a KR at the time and only the first time that I had actually had a stick in my hand. I went out and got to know the airplane a little but the time soon came when I had to get it back on the ground. I was focused so hard that it turned out to be a squeaker landing right in front of the guys. I quickly dried all the sweat off my hands and started breathing again before getting to the hangar so they would think I was a really cool pilot. When I got out Steve decided I could fly his as well which I did many times. I flew Marty’s pretty much every time I saw him after that. Marty was such a good friend and was so trusting of me. Marty and Steve flew formation alongside my Velocity going to Sun N Fun one year. Marty had just cut a foot off each wing for the race that year. When we headed down from 13,500 ft I didn’t think about them too much and let the speed build up to 240 mph indicated. Steve said “Victor is smoking!”. Steve fell back a little bit Marty stayed with me until his windshield cracked and had to slow down. He was WELL over 250 mph true airspeed when that happened. We all miss Marty and if he were here he would be telling us to keep the KR alive. If I can ever get mine finished it will have his name on it somewhere. Yep, it's happened to me once, and a few other folks have told me the same. I sent a message, never saw it appear, and then somebody replied to it. It's possible that the list was working fine, but my ISP deleted it as spam or malicious. That's the usual case from folks who report that they've suddenly stopped getting email. Their ISP or some other carrier has put KRnet on a spam list, or something similar. I'll ask the list provider to investigate, but that's probably what they will say as well. They have records of what came in and what went out, and they apparently match pretty well. Larry et al. I have pre-ordered hat/shirt, but unfortunately, will not make the gather afterall. I have an academic conflict that I cannot change. I am happy to send you money, plus shipping to receive the shirt/cap. I am looking forward to hearing all about the 2006 gathering. I am finally getting settled here in Little Rock. Just this past week I finally moved my KR2 project from storage to my garage/workshop. Lots to do. First I will extend HS and increase VS, shorten elevator, then I plan on raising the rear spar to accomodate new airfoil. Next I will need to re-position aileron bell crank. Will then convert to a dual stick. Finally, I hope to replace retractable gear. Phew... sounds like one big circle just to end up at same point project is now... then I will begin moving forward... Will create a web-page with pics and will be asking lots of questions. Enjoy the gathering everyone. Honestly, I'd rather be there. KR> missing subject lines
Hi guys Regarding my problem with missing subject lines, only the subject lines of mail originating from krnet or corvaircraft are missing. All other e-mail received including spam and other private e-mails come through no problem. This leads me to believe that the problem is associated with something on these servers. I have recently activated an alias e-mail address, unsubscribed under my old address and then re-subscribed under my new alias. It would appear that I am still getting mail addressed to the old address as I get two of each message from both groups, one addressed to the old address and one to the new address. Somehow this has something to do with the problem. I have never altered anything in my profile for either group so I can't imagine that it is just a setting there (I could be wrong). Any other advice would be appreciated. Regards Dene Collett KR2S builder Freelance whisper assembler South Africa mailto: av...@telkomsa.net

These kinds of problems are almost always an ISP's spam filter gone crazy, or just a flaky ISP mail service. Sometimes the mail server is slow, taking hours to send one out, but I've never known one to not EVER make it, other than the early days of this incarnation when I was throwing away anything that was done in HTML rather than plane text. One way to troubleshoot is copy KRnet messages simultaneously to yourself, and see if it comes back to you. If you get it, but the list doesn't (eventually), that would be interesting... I'm not sure how to deal with that, other than start with Earthlink, and check any spam filter they may have imposed on you. It could be worse thoughyou could have HotMail. It's server all too often just quits taking messages and rejects them as undeliverable. The KRnet server used to throw Hotmail and AOL people off on a regular basis because of returned mail, but they've been better lately. It sounds like something you might have to take up with Earthlink. I wish you luck... KR> missing e-mails
Sorry about the last note. Forgot I had set up my account to NOT get MY posts. Got another cup of coffee and turned it back on. BUT, I am missing posts - seeing replies to posts I didn't get. KR> missing e-mails
I have noticed lately that I've not been receiving all the e-mails that go to the KR Net. I was seeing replys to post when I had not seen the original post. I made an interesting observation a few minutes ago when I sent three replys back to the net concerning three different post. The subject line of the three e-mails I was sending were: auto fuel Conversion Re: KR> Re: registration fuel line fittings Immediately after hitting "send" I did a "check mail". The first and third e-mail messages were immediately back in my "in" box. The second never did show up, even after repeated checks. I erased the { Re: KR> Re: } from the subject and did a "forward". That post also came through immediately. I can only guess that the extra Re: KR> Re: left in the original subject line caused it to be identified as SPAM by some filter somewhere and it went to off to the great black hole somewhere. Soo, my request to the net is to clean up the subject line when replying to a post and I'll see if that fixes my missed messages problem. Thanks. Larry Flesner
KR> missing e-mails
I thought I found my problem on missing e-mails from the net but , alas, the following post didn't show up from me either. If most of you are getting (just got) several duplicate post from me then I'm getting out, just not getting it all back in. Sorry about that. Does anybody know of or have heard of Jeffrey Beilfuss. He was in Green Bay WI in 1984, when he signed the plackard in the KR2 that I now own. Lee Van Dyke Mesa AZ N783JB l...@vandyke5.com http://vandyke5.com/kr2.htm
