start scanning into PDF files. If anyone would like copies, send me an
E-mail directly Subject: KR newsletter and i will put you on a mailing

like the list, please Email me subject: Kr list. if anyone who gets the
list has one which can fill in the empty spaces, I'd be happy to receive
copies of those also. Thanks!

Glenn,

Larry Capps owns the copyrights to the KR Newsletter and has already

I and another person tried contacting Mr. Capps, but he has not replied.
There are no printed copyright statements on any of these documents. I
wouldn't mind paying him for the CD, but if he doesn't reply theres not
much that I can do.

KR> KR Newsletter

2008-10-12 Thread Mark Jones
I really wanted to do my first flight this weekend but the weather here simply
did not allow it. Since I had some free time on my hands, I decided to look
through all the old Newsletters. I really do miss those old fashioned printed
Newsletters. It was great to just thumb through all the nostalgia and refresh
myself with KR history and who did what. I know we all have moved into the age
of computers and little round plastic discs that hold tons of information but
there is nothing in comparison to the old Newsletters where you can simply hold
one and read it. I wish these would be brought back by someone...I would be the
first to subscribe.

I uploaded and downloaded them all, and it took 2-3 minutes each, and
worked fine. You're the first to mention that problem, so I suspect a
timeout on your end. But this kind of problem is why I've chopped them
up a bit, plus if my website sees a huge increase in bandwidth, my cost
will increase. That and it's a time-consuming process, and I'm trying
to get them out as quick as I get them done. Have you tried it from a
PC, rather than a phone? You may be a CD candidate...

I downloaded it from home this morning and it worked fine, but then I
probably had it cached. Just in case, I deleted the old copy and then
uploaded a new one, and again it downloaded fine. Came to work and
downloaded it, and it quit at 18.38/38.89 MB...probably same place as you.
The odd thing is that the NL4 file is smaller than NL2 or NL3, although not
by much. I'll recreate the file and try it again tonight...

A few days ago I tried to download one of the newsletter files and had
the same problem. I have issues with downloading on occasion so I
figured I would wait until I had a chance late at night with less
internet traffic. After reading about others having this problem, I went
back and tried to download each file twice. Each attempted download
stopped at different points:

first attempt:
nl1.pdf - 1.91 mb
nl2.pdf - 1.95 mb
nl3.pdf - 547 kb
nl4.pdf - 1.91 mb

second attempt:
nl1.pdf - 1.95 mb
nl2.pdf - 1.85 mb
nl3.pdf - 1.82 mb
nl3.pdf - 1.82 mb

Your results may (probably) vary.

I'm sure if you could find Larry, people would do that. But Larry hasn't
been heard from for many years, and as I posted a while back, his house has
sold, and I've been unable to find a trace of him anywhere. If he were
interested in selling CDs, he wouldn't have dropped out of the KR world
without a trace. Also, while his CD claims to be copyrighted, I have found
no evidence on the US Copyright site to verify that, and I'm told by
previous editors that they did not copyright the newsletters either. From
the rules I've read, you can't copyright somebody else's work years after
the stuff has been released. Another point worth noting is that it's
against the law to claim something is copyrighted when it's not.

Having said this,I'm guessing you haven't tried to find Larry's contact info
either...

KR> KR Newsletter download problem

2014-10-15 Thread Mark Wegmet
All;

Just downloaded the last 3 packages using freedownloadmanager - took about 2
minutes total on a 30MB baud download connection via cable: below is a link
to the non-commercial, open source download manager that will run multiple
thread downloads, allows restarts for failed file downloads and in general
speeds up downloads on connections that aren't fast to start with and is
amazingly fast on fast internet connections (like high speed cable). And
yes, your mileage may vary.

I have used this for nearly ten years and have never had a problem. Oh yeah,
it is ad/commercial free like most open source applications. Make sure you
use the .org link because there is a similar application with almost the
same name that is buggy and is loaded with Trojans.

KR> KR: Newsletter Best Solution

2010-03-23 Thread Glenn Martin
In regards to the KR newsletter files. I am waiting 30 days for Mr Capps
to respond. It certainly is in everyones interest (incluing HIS) if he
does. There IS INTEREST in these old newsletter articles, and making
them easily available is really my main purpose. The BEST solution
(IMHO) would be to let Steve Glover distribute the KR Newsletter CD's
through his website. He's doing a GREAT SERVICE to us all, and this
would be a way for Mr Capps to continue distributing the newsletters,
make his deserved profit, and not have to deal with the distribution
(other than burning a stack of disks and getting them to Steve). I know
this might be stirring the pot a bit, but you HAVE to admit, its a pot
that ,when stirred, serves EVERYONE well. Steve, Larry, Whaddaya say?
I'll even buy the 1st one.

I looked into this a f ew months ago when somebody else was trying to buy a
KR Newsletter CD. Internet records show that Larry Capps moved last year to
somewhere else. The fact that he hasn't contacted me to change his address
on KRnet makes me wonder if he cares.

Don't forget that Mark Lougheed has already scanned the early ones (with
permission from Ernie Koppe, the originator of the newsletter and editor at
that time) and the download for that is at
http://www.bouyea.net/digests/kr01-87.pdf . These old Newsletters are chock
full of good ideas, and really do belong to the community at large, since
we're the ones who wrote the articles...

Once we have contact info for him, or if he sees this post maybe he can

Subject: KR> KR: Newsletter Best Solution

KR> KR Newsletter CD still available?

2010-01-25 Thread Aaron Sand
Has anybody purchased Larry Capps' newsletter CD recently?  I tried a few email
addresses for him but no response.  Larry, if you're out there let me know.  Or
if anybody has been in touch with him recently, let me know how you got a hold
of him.
Thanks everyone,
Aaron
