Just so you all have something to read...

I finished my GRT EFIS Sport installation in my Mustang 2 last week
(pretend I said KR and it will feel like a KR post). I knew that it
would be a good system based on what I have seen of EFIS capability, but
I was completely taken by surprise by just how impressed I would be with
it. After flying with it for 15 minutes I loaded a synthetic approach
to a local airport and flew it almost to the runway. I was in VFR
conditions and I was looking outside to make sure that I would not hit
anything or anybody, but it was apparent that if I was inadvertently
stuck in IFR with 50' ceilings that I could have most likely landed
safely as long as I trusted the instrument. I have just increased the
safety factor of my flying by a huge margin. Once I put in the
autopilot servos and the ILS I will have more capability than many
airliners.

For those with limited panel space they also have a new mini system with
most of the capability of the Sport (but will not do the engine
instruments on the same screen) starting at $995. Much more capability
than a Dynon D-10A, just a hair bigger, and less than half the price.
If you have a plane you need one. Nuff said.

The weather has been miserable for flying, so my KR and SuperCub have both

should have the boat off the bench by the end of the week. The Bingelis gear
weight with disc brakes and minus the wheel and tire assy came in at 13 lbs
each. The height from the bottom of the spar to the ground came in at 18"
(tires un-inflated) and the outside of the wheels are at 84 inches. Once I get
them powder coated and installed I will post some more pics on my web page.

Stall speed is dependent on bank angle in a known manner, so if you know the

stall speed in straight and level flight, there are charts that will show
you the factor to multiply by to get your stall speed at various bank
angles. My flaps help to lower my stall speed by about 6 mph, best I can
tell, and with more deflection I can improve on that some. I guess the only

time I stalled mine at full gross weight was with Glenda, and I wasn't
watching the ASI when that happened!

There's a nice chart in the middle of
http://www.auf.asn.au/groundschool/umodule2.html that shows stall speeds for

various bank angles, as well as a wealth of other information. Also see the

links at the bottom of that webpage. That whole series of articles should
keep you busy the rest of the day

Lift is a function greatly determined by the shape of the wing, and its
angle of incidence. The purpose of the higher horsepower engine is to
overcome the drag of the plane and thus allow the air to flow over the
wings in an amount sufficient to develop the lift. So if its more lift
you want, you would use a wing which has dimensions which would develop
the lift you specify at the speeds you specify, then use a motor which
would allow you to develop the torque (thrust) your plane needs to move
the air over the wings (or the wings through that air..whichever).

Go to this link and try altering the various wing charateristics. It
should help you understand the lift equation better:

I am not sure if my previous posts were received so If I duplicate please
forgive me.

The KR2s is specified to have an gross weight of 980 lbs. Is this
independent of the size of the motor. I mean surely if you have a 140Hp
motor in stead of a 70Hp motor you can lift more. I understand that gliding
will be an issue on a heavier plane. What I am actually asking is this. How
do they spec gross weight? Can I get past this limitation? As I might have
or might not have mentioned before. I am a big boy 335 Lbs. I have a heavy
Soob motor and I am seriously considering adding weight by placing the
cooling system under a wing.
