Hi Martin,

thank you very much for the bug report. I think this should be fixed

[Bug 1895187] Re: [FFe] KDE Frameworks 5.74.0 into Groovy archive

2020-09-10 Thread Jose Manuel Santamaria Lema
I made a test rebuild of our current plasma & KDE applications packaging
and found no regressions.

Also I tested in a VM these frameworks 5.74: I can log into plasma,
dolphin, konsole and kate seem to work correctly.

Thanks for opening the FFE and the testing :)

[Bug 1647204] Re: 1.8.0-2 FTBFS in zesty 17.04

2017-02-18 Thread Jose Manuel Santamaria Lema
Hi again, I think I'm done now with a proposal for upload, the package was
tested in this PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~panfaust/+archive/ubuntu/gpgme

Note that I also tested a rebuild of kf5-kdepim-apps-libs against it; right now
kf5-kdepim-apps-libs is failing against the current version in -proposed,
making some autopkgtests fail and blocking the migration of some kde libraries.
See, for instance:
https://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-archive/proposed-migration/update_excuses.html#kiconthemes

So we would really appreciate if someone could upload this fixed
package.

If you think the proposed fix can be improved, suggestions are welcomed
:)

[Bug 1612753] [NEW] drkonqui does not suggest debug packages

2016-08-12 Thread Manuel López-Ibáñez
Public bug reported:

Okular crashes, drkonqui launches, after a few clicks, the backtrace is
not useful. The dialog says: "install the needed packages and click
Reload". However, the list of files:

/usr/bin/okular
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQtCore.so.4
/usr/lib/libokularcore.so.7
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQtGui.so.4
/usr/lib/libkdeui.so.5
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libQtDBus.so.4
/usr/lib/kde4/okularpart.so

These are no packages. The user is at a loss about what packages they
need to install. What is the point of launching drkonqui at all?

[Bug 1582294] [NEW] Icons-only task manager in plasma 5 too small icons, ugly rectangles, no minimized indicator, no multiple windows indicator

2016-05-16 Thread Manuel López-Ibáñez
Public bug reported:

The icons-only task manager widget in plasma 5 (Kubuntu 16.04) has
regressed in several aspects with respect to the version in 14.04.

Icons are now tiny compared with the "quick launcher" widget. Rectangles
around the icons take space and are not useful because they do not give
any information about the minimized state of the application. There is
now no indicator that a single icon represents multiple windows. Windows
asking for attention do not flash/highlight anymore.

[Bug 1582281] [NEW] plasma compositor only works with XRender (flickering; artifacts; repaint; scren update issues)

2016-05-16 Thread Manuel López-Ibáñez
Public bug reported:

After a fresh install of Kubuntu 16.04. The default settings of the
compositor lead to flickering, screen artifacts, screen repaint/update
issues. All compositor settings except XRender show similar issues.
XRender however is much slower and have fewer effects than those
available in Kubuntu 14.04.

Workaround: If you have an ATI/AMD Radeon/fglrx video card that is
working with Kubuntu 14.04, test with the live version before updating
to 16.04!

This is for KDE4, and it doesn't work for kwallet5.

[Bug 942102] Re: Notifications have no alert sounds

2015-07-28 Thread Manuel Seelaus
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 946238 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/946238

quick and dirty workaround:

- write a short shell script that plays the sound using mplayer or similar
- have quassel execute that script using "Run Command" (for example on
highlight)

Example:
$ cat bin/highlight.sh
#!/usr/bin/env bash
mplayer /usr/share/sounds/KDE-Im-Highlight-Msg.ogg

- Then in Quassel's highlight settings, check "Run command" and point it
to your highlight.sh

[Bug 60448] Re: .xsession-errors file grows out of control & saturates disk space

2015-02-01 Thread Manuel López-Ibáñez
Someone already did, and it is called journald:
http://0pointer.net/blog/projects/journalctl.html
Recent versions of gdm, kdm and dbus already use the journald by default to
replace .xsession-errors, and thus avoid all these problems. I guess we only
have to wait for Ubuntu to catch up to Fedora and OpenSuse. (I don't know about
CentOS, but it unavoidable that journald will be the default there eventually)

[Bug 1073071] [NEW] vlc cannot disable power management features

2012-10-30 Thread Manuel López-Ibáñez
Public bug reported:

When playing a video in VLC in Kubuntu, the power management dims and
eventually turns off the screen, even when connected on AC power. This
is with default settings.

VLC has an option to "Inhibit power management daemon during playback",
which is one by default.

According to VLC developers, KDE4 broke xdg-utils compatibility:
https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/5957

I can confirm the bug and the fix. Works perfect after installing the
'libxime1-ffmpeg' package via apt/synaptic. This should be listed as a
dependency in the amarok package.

Is the KDE4 KWin included in Intrepid the same as the one that's in the

[Bug 44864] Re: 1680x1050 resolution not displayed

2006-05-17 Thread manuel fernandez
solution: correct 1680x1050 resolution obtained
dapper drake kubuntu on dell inspiron 6400 WSXGA+.

procedure:
install 915 resolution via adept manager
mimic the procedure decribed in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/i915Driver

run "sudo 915resolution -l"
Pickup an unused resolution ('4d' for me)
run "sudo 915resolution 4d 1650 1050 32"

Edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf
(a nice way of doing it is with konqueror on file xorg.conf right click and
select "actions" and the "edit as root")

add in the section:
 Section "Device"
identifier "Intel Corporation Mobile Integrated Graphics Controller"
the following line:

Option "ForceBIOS" "1920x1440=1680x1050"

and in the section:
Section "Monitor"
  identifier "Generic Monitor"
the following lines:

  modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 147.14 1680 1784 1968 2256 1050 1051 1054 1087
-hsync +vsync
  modeline "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" 188.07 1680 1800 1984 2288 1050 1051 1054 1096
-hsync +vsync

add to /etc/init.d/bootmisc.sh, before the last line ": exit 0"
/usr/sbin/915resolution 4d 1680 1050 32

add to /etc/default/915resolution

MODE=4d
# and set resolutions for the mode.
XRESO=1680
YRESO=1050

restart the computer and it should work.

Do not modify the display with System Settings because it will replace the
xorg.conf file modified above. solution: correct 1680x1050 resolution obtained

[Bug 44864] 1680x1050 resolution not displayed

2006-05-15 Thread manuel fernandez
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kcontrol

problem: 1680 x 1050 resolution cannot be obtained.

system: kubuntu dapper drake installed on
dell laptop inspiron 6400 with WXVGA 1680 x 1050 resolution.
computer has intel 945 graphics card.

trials to solve the problem:

system settings detects vesa driver + plug and play monitor
request to install intel 945 (810i driver) + dell 1680x1050 laptop display
panel (16/10) allows maximum resolution of 1280x1024.

If monitor option "widescreen" is set, the 1680x1050 resolution appears
in menu but upon xrestart the resolution is very low.

The 915resolution package does not solve the problem. The options list
does not have 1680x1024 resolution (the closest match is 1600x1200). But
even in this case, the resolution is not obtained.

Running sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg does not solve the
problem either.
