Can you elaborate on this issue?

 For example:

 Old English string:
ahelp hid=HID_ALIGNMENTSets the alignment options for the contents
of the current cell, or the selected cells./ahelp

 New English string:
 ahelp hid=cui/ui/cellalignment/CellsAlignPageSets the alignment
options for the contents of the current cell, or the selected
 cells./ahelp

Only the hid attribute of ahelp tag changed, which is not localizable
anyway. Yet, upon update the old translation is not even offered as
fuzzy, because fuzzy matching algorithm does not distinguish tags from
text. Tags in segments are usually invariable.

Is the ahelp tag almost alway a top level one? If yes, then I think
the best way is for PO extraction tool to strip the tags completely and
use the hid as msgctx (the PO to help converter will have to be updated,
too).

It would make sense to take this into account, when you build a local
TM and/or eveluate matches from the local TM.

I think the fuzzy matching in translate toolkit is pretty simplistic, it
probably uses Levenshtein distance and don't do any parsing of the text.

We have some ideas on how to improve this, but nothing implemented yet.

You can try to experiment with pomigrate2 tool from translate toolkit
with or without -p option and see if it gives you better results (with
-p option it will use the same logic used by Pootle).

Khaled

Unfortunately it's not, that's why it is part of the segment after
all. And there are other internal tags apart from ahelp, e.g.
image and link which also have non-translatable (and sometimes
changing) attributes.

Best regards,
Andras

Re: [libreoffice-l10n] Filtering strings on Pootle by submitter

2013-11-07 Thread Baurzhan Muftakhidinov
Finally I made it using custom tools,
the Final percentage of Kazakh l10n of LibreOffice 4.1.x dropped to 51%,
rest 49% are fuzzy currently.

As I explained earlier, Kazakh l10n consisted of old translation and
my translation,
and old one was in bad shape. I have decided to mark it all as fuzzy
and check it
all over again.

This is a lot of work, of course, but, at least I will be sure for quality of
Kazakh localization.

Thanks for reading.

Hi :)
So it's all done? Is it 'just' the quality that you are checking now?
It sounds like you have already done an immense amount of work there!
Good work all!
Many regards from
Tom :)

[libreoffice-l10n] Bambara / Bamanakan

2013-11-07 Thread jjmeric
Bambara (bm-ML) is a west African language spoken in several countries,
the main one being Mali (ML)
Please help me get started in opening what needs to be open on Pootle
and on the wiki.

As a short introduction, I am a 3d year student at INALCO, Paris
(http://www.inalco.fr/)
I have implemented a spell-checker for the language, which I submitted
for Extensions but for some reason it does not show up there (I need
help there too!)

[libreoffice-l10n] Locale for Bamabara / Bamanankan

2013-11-07 Thread jjmeric

Hi all! Good morning / A' ni sɔgɔma

I have submitted a locale for this West African language, however I have
afterthoughts :

My doubts are on two points

- It's not clear to me how the long format date parameters ties things
together, I certainly do not want to have a long format that looks
american like

Friday, November 8th, 2013
translated as
Juma, Nowamburu 8th, 2013

- Collations/Index key character range LC_INDEX:
There are a four extra characters in Bambara, and 3 missing from the A-Z
range. I have submitted it as a string:

ABCDEƐFGHIJKLMNƝŊOƆPRSTUWYZ
but maybe I should have added extra spaces between characters:
A B C D E Ɛ F G H I J K L M N Ɲ Ŋ O Ɔ P R S T U W Y Z
or maybe I should have put it this way:
A-E Ɛ F-N Ɲ Ŋ O Ɔ P R-U W Y Z

I may have made other mistakes : thanks for help and tips.

JJ

PS : yes I have read
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/LibreOffice_Localization_Guide/How_To_Submit_New_Locale_Data
and used the great LocaleGen program at http://www.it46.se/localegen/
but the latter does not give visual feedback of the settings (and idea
for improvement?)
