[libreoffice-l10n] Add weblate revlew role to nogajun

2020-05-21 Thread Naruhiko Ogasawara
Hello,

As a reviewer of the Japanese translation, I would like to ask you
to add a role to review to nogajun (noga...@gmail.com)

https://translations.documentfoundation.org/user/nogajun/

He is actively doing a lot in our community and I thought he should
have the right to do review our translation in Weblate

For myself, I'm not active anymore, I'm not thinking to step down
my role for now, but our community shouldn't depend on my really
lazy work :)

Best,

[libreoffice-l10n] Preventing translation submission without review

2020-02-25 Thread Naruhiko Ogasawara
Hello,

We, Japanese translator community, noticed that a user [0]
submit a lot of incorrect JA translations.

(For example, Japanese native speakers do not translate
the word "Python" to "パイソン," because it's a technical
term usually written in English [1])

Of course, it's good to 100% translation coverage, and we
can understand that he/she wants to become JA translation
close to 100% (I don't want to blame him/her).
But here in the Japanese market, typical users prefer there
are some English remains than having wrong translated
words; the software which has wrong translations seems
not to a professional tool, at least our culture.

So, in the Pootle era, Japanese project doesn't allow direct
submission (except for limited accounts; reviewers).
Can Weblate do as same for Japanese projects?

Or if you have any other solution, please let us know.

Best,
Naruhiko NARU Ogasawara

[libreoffice-l10n] Menu: Edit-link and Edit-links

2016-12-12 Thread Naruhiko Ogasawara
Hi,

In LibO 5.3, we have following menu items:

a) Edit - Link (former "Hyperlink") [1]
b) Edit - Links [2]

These two seems be quite hard to understand what's the
difference.

I thought the word changing a) (hyperlink -> link) itself is
reasonable, but we need to consider to change the word of b)
also.

Sorry I don't have any good alternative, because my English
is not so fluent.

Note: the Link dialog title[3] should be changed if we'll
change the menu item name of a).

Re: [libreoffice-l10n] Search themes for Personas / Personalization, translate .. or not .. (bug 87597)

2015-02-19 Thread Naruhiko Ogasawara
Hi Cor, *

I was looking to this bug
   https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=87597

Choose Tools - Options - Personalization - Own Theme.
 The suggestions there
pxhJi Abstract | BDTdC Color | GjKFW Music | kCoME Nature
are translated so there's little to find when I use the Dutch UI :)

Now it's simple to change that for Dutch, but there are two more options:
  - make the words non localizable,
  - search for the original term, independent of the localization :)

We (Japanese localization team) faced the same issue and we decide
NOT to localize them (sorry to share the issue).
This dialog has free input field to use localized search word, so I vote
the first choice.

Re: Re: Fwd: [libreoffice-l10n] Help text for MIDB

2015-01-20 Thread Naruhiko Ogasawara
Hi, Kevin, Jesper, *

Sorry, I couldn't catch this discussion, just short comment.

Basically Japanese characters can be expressed double-byte as
Chinese, and some of Japanese characters use 4 bytes (called
Surrogate Pair), not a two byte, such as (U+2000B).

I know it's trivial example:

A1 =
B1 = MIDB(A1,1,1) returns
B1 = MIDB(A1,1,2) returns (*)
B1 = MIDB(A1,1,3) returns (*)
B1 = MIDB(A1,1,4) returns
B1 = MIDB(A1,1,5) returns (*)
B1 = MIDB(A1,1,6) returns (*)
B1 = MIDB(A1,1,7) returns (*)
B1 = MIDB(A1,1,8) returns

(*) is a special character means that font has no glyph in that codepoint.

I wonder if HELP should describe such a detail, though.

[libreoffice-l10n] Re: To the Japanese l10n community

2013-12-23 Thread Naruhiko Ogasawara
Hi Sophie, *,

Thank you for your warm word to me.

I've seen on your blog about the Hackathon that you've to translate
several strings because of a wrong update of the template where the
 French strings has replaced Japanese.

Please, next time you encounter such thing, come on this list and tell
us before you translate again. Do not think it's your mistake, it's a
Pootle one. And even if we do a mistake, before the update Christian has
saved all the translations on Git so we are always able to revert
whatever happens in Pootle to the last handoff.

Yes, my mistake is not operating Pootle, but I let all of our (Japanese)
translators stayh there, and let you know something wrong, when our
member found something happened.
At first I thought it's not a big deal so we can fix ourself easily, but
unfortunately, it's not true...

I feel sorry for the extra work it gave you, so please don't hesitate
next time to ask here or even directly to me.

We promise, we'll do so in the future.
# Hopefully we'll not have the opportunity to do that.
# Plz, Pootle ;).

And, by the way, congratulations for your first hackathon, really great
 blog to read :)

Thanks. It's good to me :)

Re: [libreoffice-l10n] LibreLogo localization

2013-03-04 Thread Naruhiko Ogasawara
Hi,

Sorry to late,

I tried Asian Language (actually Japanese), and confirmed it works
well with Western Language [None] and Asian Language Standard -
Japanese.

I'm little busy now so I can't test whole things but selectable
keywords such as 右|右に曲がる|right|turnright|rt (every words
means turn right) is translated to 右 by magic icon.

You might not be able to read Japanese but I wrote a small blog
article about this:

http://d.hatena.ne.jp/naruoga/20130304/1362399488

I hope this report helps you.

Regards,

2013/2/25 Németh László nem...@numbertext.org:
 Hi,

LibreLogo in 4.0.1 will support Asian and CTL languages, depending
from the language of the user interface, and (Western, Asian, CTL)
languages of the document. You have to change the Western language of
the document/paragraph to [None], if the user interface of LibreOffice
is in this Western language, for example, to test Japanese Logo
commands in LibreOffice with English UI. (See
 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61376, where I have
attached a simple Japanese test file with these language settings.)

Especially CTL and Asian languages may have special problems or
requirements, so, please, inform me about them.
By the way, here is an interesting article about the importance of
native language programming, thanks to Kim Bastin for the link:

 http://www.newscientist.com/blogs/onepercent/2013/02/arabic-programming-language.html

 Best regards,
 László

 2013/1/14 Németh László nemeth.la...@gmail.com:
 Hi Naruhiko,

It seems, the main problem is the western based language detection. I'm
afraid, there is no method to detect the direction of the translation here.
We can detect the language of the LibreOffice installation, and use
Japanese. I will test it with RC1, and report the result.
 Many thanks for your mail.

 2013/1/14 Naruhiko Ogasawara naru...@gmail.com

 Hi everyone,

I'm very sorry that I had misunderstood about magic icon feature of
 LibreLogo.

 --
 Dear Németh László,

Please remove ja in your LibreLogo.py if you have already added.

Now we, Japanese community decided we'll postpone to support LibreLogo
 magic icon translation feature.

 --
 Details:

We, Japanese community has two problem:

Problem 1: Which is primary: English or Japanese? (maybe Japanese)
Problem 2: How we can select document language is Japanese?

 The help [1] tell us:

It expands and upper case Logo commands in the Writer document. Change
 the
language of the document (Tools » Options » Language Settings » Languages
» Western) and click on this icon to translate the Logo program to the
 selected
 language.

 * Problem 1 *

My big misunderstanding is translation direction: I thought this button
 let
local-language command or short aliases TO English, primary language.
 But it's not correct.

Please let me confirm, if we have:

 FORWARD=すすむ|forward|fd

and the document language is Japanese, all of following Logo code:

 すすむ 10
 forward 10
 fd 10

 should be changed:

 すすむ 10
 すすむ 10
 すすむ 10

In the other words, the first word should be chosen. Correct?
It means Japanese command is primary, and others are alias.

If so, according to difference of syntax of English and Japanese,
it's very hard to use Logo in Japanese only word-by-word translation.

Small example; operator NOT is prefix, but in Japanese, directly
translated word ではない is postfix (a 10 ではない). That's
why we have to choose to translate NOT very declarative words like
the following expression is not correct.

It's deep problem, not only the translation issue, that's why
we want to postpone to apply magic icon feature for Japanese.

So, what caused if we'll use below?

 FORWARD=forward|すすむ|fd

If the line means forward is a primary (magic icon changes
すすむ to FORWARD), our problem will be small.
Because young flexible brain can easily accept English command
if they have good entrypoints, Japanese localization might be.

 * Problem 2:

It's not so serious. Just a question.

As help [1] says, LibreLogo choose their language to see western,
but, you might know, some languages (Japanese also) is in Asian
 or CTL.
How LibreLogo knows our document is in Japanese?

 Hi Naruhiko,

It seems, the main problem is the western based language detection. I'm
afraid, there is no method to detect the direction of the translation here.
We can detect the language of the LibreOffice installation, and use
Japanese. I will test it with RC1, and report the result.
 Many thanks for your mail.

 Best regards,
 László

Re: [libreoffice-l10n] [Pootle] How can we select the next term found by search

2013-01-04 Thread Naruhiko Ogasawara
Hi everyone,

To khagaroth,

On the navigation bar before previous and next unit buttons, there is the
current unit number link. Click on that with middle mouse button and it will
open a new window/tab with the current unit in unfiltered view, so you can
edit surrounding units that were inaccessible in the filtered view.

Great! It is perfect solution for me!

# However it is little bit difficult to find ;).

And Rimus,

However, in your case, it seems to me that you just want to translate
that particular file, am I correct? If so, then you could just go to
 https://translations.documentfoundation.org/ja/libo_ui/librelogo/source/pythonpath.po/translate/
 and work on that file.

My scenario is little different, but this way is also useful. Thanks!

[libreoffice-l10n] [Pootle] How can we select the next term found by search

2012-12-29 Thread Naruhiko Ogasawara
Hi,

I want to do very easy task but I couldn't found out how to do that.

What I want is:

1. Search word and found a term (e.g. forward|fd in LibreLogo [1]).
2. Then following terms also need to fixed, so I want to move to the next term.

However, button Next unit doesn't work for this situation because the
button want to find next term which hit the previous search.
And in search mode, I can't click any other terms in my display.

Sometimes Unit IDs are not increase step-by-step, so my current answer is
search again with the next term's string... it's not good for me.

Anyone know how I can do that?
Possibly Pootle should have such functionality (search a term, then move
to next). Please let me know if I lost a very easy point.

Thanks, and sorry poor English ;)
