OK, I looked around. Pretty much every instance of h2 in the xx set of
pages (i.e. https://www.openoffice.org/xx/;) would look better without
the extra spacing above h2.

Should I list all those pages here one by one?

Marcus, let me browse other pages of the website to see if there are
more places using h2 that would benefit from the change. I'll report
back soon.

just a note to take into account:

The headings are defined in the ooo.css. So when changing this
setting it will change *all* H2 headings on the *entire* website
which is not what we want. So, also here we have to create an
exception (via exceptions.css or in every why webpage) to apply to
non-space betweeen both headings only on the Why webpages.

After ~72h IMHO we have reached consensus as nobody objects the changes.

I've changed the indent of the headings and also aligned the indent of
the logos. It looks indeed more clean now:

http://ooo-site.staging.apache.org/lt/download/

When it is OK now it can be published.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I agree, a little more spreading out vertically is beneficial because
the logos are bulkier than the text and require more space around them
to not look cramped up. As for extra spacing as a means to stress the
difference, the logos are already very different as graphics, there's no
need to emphasize that any further.

Here's a rendering with the increased vertical spacing of the logos
(compared to the previous proposal):

And, for your immediate convenience, here's what it looks now:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1210965/AOO/150309%20Download%20Page%20-%20Right%20Column%20Alignment%20%28before%29.jpg;.

The measurements would be the following:

Column headings (e.g., Release Information, etc.): 5px rightwards

SourceForge logo: 4px rightwards 20px upwards

W3C logo: 10px rightwards 20px upwards

I can input the values as long as you guide me to the proper file(s),
strings, and parameters to be edited.

Here's how it looks after re-alignment

(Make sure you click on the images to see them in full size.)

as you don't write some points, here is what I see changed between
both pictures. ;-)

1. No indent of the headlines in the navbar on the right hand side.
2. Less space between last navbar element and the first logo.

I hope thats all.

What do you think?

For #1 I don't care too much. When the majority of us is to change it,
then let's do it.

For #2 I like to see more space between navbar and logo better as both
are different things. Also because it doesn't reduce the page in its
lenght.

this won't make sense when you see that you need to list millions (more
or less ;-) ) of the webpages. Then it's maybe save to change the
default for the whole website instead of creating new exceptions.
