Re: [lace] Re: bookmarks - sleeves

2005-05-12 Thread Scotlace
Another trick with sleeves comes from Christine Springett who uses it with
her fancy snake patterns. After you have cut the sleeve to a suitable length
and inserted the snake, punch a single hole in the open end of the sleeve and
make a "tassle" from the hole by looping thread through and passing the cut
ends through the loop. A little glue helps keep the "knot" in place.

Since the posting yesterday about books for sale on the Lace Guild website,
I have only been able to get up a blank page on the Lace Guild website. Is
this happening to other people too?

[lace] PayPal problems

2005-05-12 Thread Tess1929
In December, someone breached my PayPal account and caused me a great deal of
difficulty straightening it all out. I thought that the problems had been
taken care of and have told various people without US funds that they could pay
for their CDs through PayPal as usual. Now suddenly I have found that my
account has been put on hold, which means that I can't receive any money from
anyone until a minor little problem has been cleared up. It should be all
right by next week--I hope! I am very sorry if this has caused confusion.

Computers and the internet are great--until there is a problem!

Yes I tried that too - it's also completely blank. I used not to have a
problem with the URLs and assumed that last night was due to heavy volume as
everyone tried to get at the books!! But I still get a completely blank
screen

Did you try this URL? It's more details and works when the simpler one
doesn't. Good luck!

[lace] Russian lace

2005-05-12 Thread мАДБ лПЪМПЧБ
Dear Spiders,

I am so happy you liked my pattern. Hope someone will make it. Thank you and
Carolina most of all for providing a home for it.

Antje wrote:
>I always thought Russian lace is made with coarser thread. I am wrong then?

The answer is: Russian lace is made with any thread. As collars etc. are a sort
of mass production, they are usually designed to be made of coarser tread in
order to quicken the process and to make them look spectacular at a long
distance, but it isn’t a rule. Even silk thread is sometimes used.

Best wishes,

Luda in Kiev, Ukraine.

[lace] bookmarks & sleeves

2005-05-12 Thread
My solution to put bookmarks in sleeves is to starch them to the point of
being lethal weapons..they slide in very nicely then :) If the bookmark is
made of a nice crisp linen I will assist it's passage with a bread knife
instead. Bread knives are long and have a rounded blunt ends, very handy :)
