[lace] Simon toustou roller pillow
I am now the proud owner of one of Simons lovely pillows :-) It's beautiful and very well made. postal charges weren't insignificant but being heavy and shipped from Canada to Scotland it's to be expected And defiantly worth every penny. It's comfortable to use on my lap or table , stuffed firmly and holds a pin well, the drawers also come in handy to keep tools and extra thread close by I was a little worried about the weight as some of the reviews I'd read mentioned it but I don't find it too heavy at all, it's no problem to carry it between rooms With any luck this pillow will last a lifetime or even longer :-) it really makes lacemaking even more enjoyable L - To unsubscribe send email to majord...@arachne.com containing the line: unsubscribe lace y...@address.here. Re: [lace] Simon toustou roller pillow
Congratulations to you! Simon's pillows are probably the most beautifully crafted modern pillows in the world!! I know of no one else who puts as much attention and detail to the woodwork as he does to the perfectly shaped and perfectly stuffed pillows and rollers. I have one which I love dearly... but have never used. I should probably sell it to someone who will enjoy it! I know the feeling, I'm almost terrified to use it for fear of spoiling it's perfectness The last few days I've just been admiring it :-) On 3 Mar 2011, at 21:03, Clay Blackwell clayblackw...@comcast.net wrote: Congratulations to you! [lace] Simon toustou roller pillow
No problem I don't see any harm in it I paid around 320 canadian dollars I think for a 9 wide roller and around 170 for the international postage He has a online gallery (no prices though) at http://stoustou.jalbum.net/catalogue/index.html And payment was by bank transfer He's also very friendly to deal with It's a no:2 pillow in the captions. he also makes a 6 roller and a 5 mini which only has one drawer On 3 Mar 2011, at 21:13, Marilyn Vogl vgl_mr...@yahoo.com wrote: Lora, I looked on all the websites that had Simon Toustou roller pillows and nowhere did I see the price. It is so hard for me to ask someone what they had paid for something, but none of the websites had the price of this pillow. If I am not too out of line, could you please let me know what the price runs on this type of pillow? I have about 17 pillows and stands. They are all bolster type pillows with German covered bobbins. Through the years i have taught quite a few women how to make lace, and now i am teaching 6 more ladies some new patterns. One of the ladies was wondering about the pillow type that you bought. It is beautiful. Thank you. I also have a relatively new Simon roller pillow, and it's gorgeous. My only problem is that I can't seem to find a pricking that is worthy of being worked on it. g Elaine ~ Elaine Chock elain...@earthlink.net Woodbridge, VA (south of Washington, DC) ~ - To unsubscribe send email to majord...@arachne.com containing the line: unsubscribe lace y...@address.here. Re: [lace] Simon Toustou roller pillow
I have found that I've never been terribly thrilled with a piece of lace in a picture. But when I see it in person, I'm blown away by the beauty of it! So I recommend having a look around at the IOLI convention in Bethesda (you *are* going, aren't you - even for one day?) There will be so many laces to be seen, and surely one of them will call out to you!! (Not to mention the sales room!!!) My excuse is that shortly after acquiring my pillow, I was seduced by the Belgian laces, and shortly after that was able to get a Christina. The Christina, for me, is more suitable for these complex laces which require so many, many bobbins. My DH improved my Christina by fashioning a platform, of sorts (we call it wings because that's what it looks like) which help keep bobbins which aren't being used out of the way above the pillow - without having to lengthen the leashes. So I haven't used my Toustou at all, even though I think it is absolutely spendid. Clay On 3/3/2011 6:02 PM, Elaine Chock wrote: I also have a relatively new Simon roller pillow, and it's gorgeous.
