Hello Carolina and everyone This idea sounds absolutely exquisite! Even if you cannot take pictures, you will let us know about your visit to the lace museum and exhibit? Re: [lace] Is Lace quiet?
Hello all, As the list is quiet I take the occasion to tell you that next 9th. Dec., will take place the annual Lace Day Event in l'ArboƧ (Barcelona-Spain). It is one of the 3 most important lace events in Catalunya. This week I assisted to the commemoration of the twentieth anniversary of the Catalonian Lace Guild. It was an emotive action where the foundational members were invited and honored with a commemorative pin. We all had too, the opportunity to know that in the Lace Museum of l'ArboƧ, the days 7th, to 9th. Dec. there will be an interesting exhibition of jewels made with lace. I was told that firstly, it is made a Roseground or Point de Paris stitch lace sheet by the lacemaker and then the jeweler cuts little bands or strips and frame them with a gold profile. I have seen nice pendants, bracelets and rings in gold and white gold very very nice. Of course I'll go, and if it is allowed I shall take some pictures to share with you. Regards. Carolina. Re: [lace] Is Lace quiet?
That is my immediate plan:-) Hopefully it will be good enough. this one is one of a set of 4 for my sister. If this first one is too bad I will just make a complete new set of 4. Obviously now I am past half way it is going well, just this is a rarely used ground. What I do find is if they are put away for a week or two then you can see how bad, or not they really are. I have been prepared to discard several pieces over the summer but when left there is only one I haven't wanted to use for its original purpose. I know a small mistake makes it slightly unique and genuinly hand made, I just dont like to give it away if it is always in my face. Thanks for you input Karen. In the last 18 months I have managed so much better thanks to Ruth, :-) Well now I have to complete my card writing as well, I am a little behind with that tast. Since I broke my wrist and can't make lace, I search for Lace messages for my lace 'fix'but find very little. It's a bit early for the usually holiday slowdown. Someone start a thread that will stimulate comments. Alice in Oregon -- onehanded. Have plate and 9 pins in my wrist, and a pretty blue cast. I have not had a digest since Saturday, lace-digest V2007 #270 so I was wondering if lace was very quiet with the holiday season on us. I checked the archives and saw some messages about Buckspoint that I have not received yet, but when I looked down the list to find about my Beds question I saw some of the answers I received but not my actual question. Re: [lace] Is Lace quiet?
Janice (and others), I can guess why the archives don't show your messages. You are addressing them to [EMAIL PROTECTED] (the same goes for all you people who send messages to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and mess up my filters! ;-) ). Majordomo interprets the address as an alias for Arachne and shows it on the list but www.mail-archive.com thinks it's a different list. So correct your address books, everyone (or stop hitting 'reply' if you're getting digest--most email programs these days will let you type in the first 3 letters of an address and automatically fill in the rest), and then the archives will be less confused. Computers are only human, after all. As for why there are no digests, it has been quiet lately. RE: [lace] Is Lace quiet?
Janice, Yes there is life out here. Unfortunately I've just been *thinking* about lace, and doing the article (Tamara :-) ) on the recreation of the 16th century fashion doll with her lace trimmed silk gown. Meanwhile back at the ranch, work is taking up extra space in my life. Grumble. Maybe this email will be the one to tip the balance and send a digest my way. :-) > Janice > > > Janice Blair > Crystal Lake, 50 miles northwest of Chicago, Illinois, USA > http://jblace.wordpress.com/ > http://www.lacemakersofillinois.org/ > > - > To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: > unsubscribe lace [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to > [EMAIL PROTECTED] - To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
