Re: [lace] flooding in England,
Hi All, We have had my parents staying with us for a few days,a nd they wandered off to one of their favourite places on Sunday afternoon - they went to Altonm Water, a reservoir just outside Ipswich, in Suffolk, and said they had never seen so many tents being erected, rows of toilets, and all sorts of other marquees. They said it was to do with a Scouting event of some description, so I wonder if this is it - or whether the event at Alton Water is a sort of 'over-spill' to the main event? We are about a two-hour drive from London, but thankfully, we are supposedly in one of the driest areas of GB - although we have had far more than our share of rainfall this summer, we have not been flooded, and the reservoir is picturesque - and large - in the extreme. So - I do hope all the scouting fraternity will enjoy themselves, and thank God tthat we are relatively unscathed with the awful flooding. Re: [lace] flooding in England,
I'm in the north of Kent - just across the River Thames from Essex, and we've not had abnormally high levels of rainfall. Yes it's been very wet, but nothing really unusual. Because last year was so dry the ground is still able to soak up water. Terry is still walking the dogs across the marshes wearing shoes/trainers rather than wellie boots. After a really grey and wet day yesterday, today is beautiful, a blue sky with puffy white clouds, a gentle breeze and around 22 deg C.
