Around here, the public has fireworks usually on July 4th (Independence Day).
A few people set off some during the week before or after, but not many.
However, I might note that in my state the available types of fireworks
are very restricted. The safety laws are very strict. Some people illegally
cross the state line and buy in the next state that does not have the safety
laws. They'll bring the nonapproved fireworks back and hope that they don't
get caught with them.

Special public displays can be found through the year connected to special
events. A local rodeo sets off fireworks each night at the end of
performances
during the week or two of the event. Big cities have New Year's displays.

Fireworks here, in South East London / Surrey have been on sale ALL YEAR
ROUND. We are disgusted by the fact that every single weekend since June was have
had fireworks going off - just think how my poor cat is suffering - he has
been unable to go outside to the loo every Saturday from about 5.30 in the
evening.

Last night, he was just about recovered from his second seizure and was
desperate to go to the loo. We waited for a lull in the offensive and about 10.30
it stopped, so Sparky and I ventured out into the garden together and he had
just dug a beautiful hole in the ground when we were hit by a bombardment equal
to Monte Casion started - exit stage right one petrified cat and one very
upset owner.

2007-01-02 Thread Shere'e

I love them also however when they are being set off until 4-5 in the
morning on a weeknight when you have to work the next day they are NOT
fun. Also when you have a neighbor like I do who is an idiot they are
not fun!! And by idiot I mean that they think it is fun to stand in
their yard and toss lite fireworks in the air and hit them with a
baseball bat! They have caught our yard on fire 2 years in a row!!!
We now have to have someone out in the yard with a hose until all
hours of the night to put out the fires!!

Hello all,

However, I must say that I love fireworks! I love the lights, the sound
and the smell. I don't get out to see them much anymore as by that time of
night I'm usually too tired to handle the crowds and walking.
