Mail smear LUST chairman whilst toadying to Bates
 Wed 19th Dec 2012 07:02

Neil Ashton of the Daily Mail take a bow! Granted a rare, exclusive interview
with Leeds Chairman Ken Bates on the eve of the titanic Leeds v Chelsea
League Cup quarter-final he keeps his ink fluid to conduct an astonishing and
personal attack on LUST chairman Gary Cooper hours later.

It is a well-known fact that Bates and LUST are anything but friends. I also
thought that despite being very much aligned with their right-wing politics,
Ken didn't have much time for the Daily Mail.

However in an exclusive Ken throws open the doors to his Leeds City Centre
penthouse flat, which is opposite the Malmaison should you ever be passing on
your way to the stadium (I'm sure Ken would more than welcome you in for a
cuppa should his tax domicile status permit him to be in), to the Daily
Mail's Neil Ashton and gets out his Chelsea scrapbook and even says Roman
Abramovich, who he once dubbed a shyster from Siberia would be welcome in
the ER boardroom as long as he wore a tie.

The usual claptrap of how he saved Leeds United and ploughed £20 into the
stadium follows and ends with Bates may be tempted to crack open the bubbly
if Leeds beat his former club tonight.

However Mr Ashton then pens another article about another Chairman, the LUST
Chairman Gary Cooper. Entitled Business failures of potential Leeds buyer
who 'loves the club but hates Chelsea' stand out

The article alleges that Mr Cooper has three county court judgements against
him and there is a freezing order on his home in Hull. His last company was
wound up in 2011 and his business partner, his brother Simon is currently
serving seven years for growing cannabis.

A story of public interest? Maybe if Gary Cooper was actually buying the
club. As far as I am aware he has merely spoken to interested parties and
never actually prepared a takeover bid? I'm not a LUST member and have often
been suspicious of their sources close to the deal hyperbole however I do
feel this is nothing more than an attack on the credentials of Gary Cooper
who represents 8500 members no matter what Ken Bates thinks of him.

A coincidence maybe, that the story smearing Gary Cooper by the same
journalist appears just hours after his visit to the Bates's holiday home in
 Leeds?

[LU] Fwd: Leeds United Supporters Trust - Message from the Chairman

2012-12-19 Thread John Boocock

*Message from the Chairman*

There are a few days in your life you never forget: your wedding day,
the birth of a child, and the day we beat the red half of Manchester in
the FA Cup at Old Trafford are a few of mine. Today is another one of
those days for me and for that I have the support shown to me by our
members and the wider Leeds United fan base to thank, following the
publication of an article in The Daily Mail which had no purpose other
than to discredit me personally, and the very good work that we as
volunteers have done on your behalf as LUST.

When I was contacted yesterday by Neil Ashton of The Daily Mail and he
told me of his intentions to print the article I asked him what his
motivation was for doing so, and he couldn’t answer other than to say he
felt it was in the public interest. The intimation was that I had upset
someone enough for them to take the time to look at my background and my
family history, investigate my personal financial affairs and publish a
story that doesn’t tell even a quarter of the facts or have any moral
consideration for the innocent people it would hurt - namely my wife and
children who have done nothing to deserve private family matters being
made public for all to see. That didn’t matter to Neil Ashton, nor did
it matter to his ‘source,’ but it mattered to me not because of any hurt
or embarrassment to myself but because of what it could do to my family,
and to the loyal members of LUST for whom all of the work the board and
I have done has been for and about.

Today I have read the replies to the email I felt it was vital we sent
out yesterday, firstly to be honest with our membership and secondly to
give you all the option to decide if you have confidence in me. You did
just that in your thousands and overwhelmingly you decided I should stay
on as Chairman. Not only that but some of the kind words in the replies,
on the social media and the forums and in the texts, emails, PMs and DMs
I received right the way through the night have made me feel so lucky to
be part of a family as proud, as dignified and as supportive as the
Leeds United supporters are. In my hour of need you did not let me down,
at a time when I desperately needed your support, to know you had
confidence and believed in me and what we are trying to achieve as a
Trust, you came forward in your thousands and offered your support.

I will never forget today. I will never be more proud to be Leeds and I
will never be able to thank you all for your kind words, and it will
always remain a fact that whoever I have upset enough for them to take
the time and effort to become the ‘source’ for such an article, they
will never ever know what it feels like to be Leeds and Proud.

On behalf of my family and myself I offer my genuinely heart felt thanks
to you all and a promise that your faith in me will never be forgotten.
The Trust will continue to work for its members and a better future for
all Leeds fans regardless of the ups and downs life throws at us.

It's therefore fitting that on the day our members have united behind
their Chairman that our club faces an old foe, and I would ask
all Leeds fans to unite and get behind the team on the pitch: this is a
game we can win. Let's be the 12th man. Let's beat Chelsea. MOT.

[LU] Team for tonight?

2012-12-19 Thread Jeremy Adams

I've got a feeling that Colin is going to put out a weakened team tonight,
don't know why but I do. I'm seeing a team similar tot he one that played Soton
for some reason.I just hope we don't get tonked so I don't have to hear about
it endlessly from my Chelski supporting brother.

MOT.

Will never get anywhere with complaints.

Just think should encourage people to unfollow Ashton on twitter. If his 65000
followers become 4 he is less interesting to say sky who use him on Sunday
supplement or talksport who use him. Also a few hundred tweets to those media
outlets might think twice about using him

A complete bloody disgrace. It took me an hour to realise that Tonge was on
the pitch.
That team has no defense, no midfield and no attack. No cohesion, no team
plan. A bunch of time severs serving time.
You just don't get beaten at home 1-5 by a jet lagged arch rival.
It's like fucking groundhogs day.
Every year worse than the one before.
How any one say that Atilla the cockney AKA MS saved Leeds?
It's like saying Burke And Hare saved funeral parlours.
Last part of the rant.
I don't think that Colin should be given the spare cash that the new guys
may have.

Becchio's goal was best of night (sorry Moses)

Do you think they came back from Japan on Ryanair?? They would have had 13

Torres cost as much as gfh are due to pay for us.

There strike force when hazard came on cost £135m. Our squad cost maybe £2m???

Re: [LU] Goal

2012-12-19 Thread Ian Murray
Sorry Rich but that is a class finish. You really can't argue with his goals.
When we had proper wingers (Gradel, snodgrass), he scored loads. He can't pass,
can't shoot from distance, can't hold the ball up, but to be fair - he makes
the right runs and gets on the end of tap ins and headers. That's how he makes
his living and fair play to him.

I'm sick of us being shit. Brass spent please.

[LU] Chelsea

2012-12-19 Thread Jeremy Adams

I missed the last goal but overall I think the 5-1 scoreline flattered them a
little. Sure they deserved the victory but not by that much. First half they
were the better team but we battled hard, seemed to miss Tate in central
defence but overall we did a good job and Ashdown in goal was equal to whatever
they threw at us. Then a great pas by Byram? put Thomas free on the left and he
delivered an inch perfect pass to Becchio who scored probably the best goal
I've ever seen him score. That was not an easy finish. Second half they
equalised right away with a soft goal though Ashdown had made some great saves
beforehand to keep us in the game so I can't fault him too much. I was actually
quite pleased with our response to that equalizer, we didn't give up and I felt
we gave them a right go at that point. Then they went 3-1 up in the blink of an
eye and then it was game over, we lost heart and Warnock did too, he took off
Thomas and Diouf to (hopefully) rest them. They knew it w
as game over, we tried to press and then got caught for the fourth goal. Fifth
goal I missed so don;t know how that happened.
Positives - Byram had a good game, Ashdown did well except for the one goal.
Thomas was a threat, and I thought Tonge was solid and Lees did a good job. Our
team did pretty well against the second most expensively assembled side in the
world, this wasn't Chelsea second team, they had some serious heavyweights in
there and as somebody pointed out they had around 130M in firepower up front.
Negatives - Peltier is out of his depth at premiership level, he got pulled all
over the place. Brown is an enforcer but is otherwise rubbish, my Chelsea
supporting brother was actually quite impressed with Leeds' overall play,
except for Brown, and agreed 1-5 was a flattering scoreline.
My only concern from this game is that after working so hard and doing pretty
well for 60 minutes, we'll be demoralised by the thrashing.
All in all for the 80 odd minutes I saw I feel I can hold my head up high by
the effort Leeds put in.

[LU] Another humiliation

2012-12-19 Thread Sutton / Smail
We were not disgraced, but as others have said What did you expect For all
the hype and positive talk on the run up to this game, this had defeat
written all over it unless we were to be blessed with the
same set of attributes that graced us when we beat Man U on that memorable
day a few seasons ago with the Beckford goal.

Two main things struck me about this game.

1. Chelsea did a Barcelona on us in that when we had possession. they were
up our arses and gave us no time to play anything more than panic hoofs. We
did seem to manage to get the ball to feet a few times. Then when they got
the ball, they slowed it down
to build a move and we allowed them time and space to do that, just as
Barcelona's opponents do. I'm no Barcelona fan by the way. but I did see a
similarity.

2. We allowed them far too much time and space on the edge of our box - they
were happy to shoot from there sometimes.

All in all, we've had a chance to measure ourselves against the current
European Champions who on the night played a strong team contrary to what I
thought they'd do.

We're a long way off, but there is a gulf between the divisions as we all
know. If and when we do go up, we have to do it with a degree of style (a la
Swansea) to have any chance of competing in the Premier League.

Don't be too dis heartened, they were simply far too good for us as was
always going to be the case. I've only seen the first 2 goals, but Beccio's
finish was top flight. If goals like is all all he ever does for us, it's
more than enough to justify his selection

Dave

[LU] Chelsea reflections

2012-12-19 Thread Robert Heath
Sad but almost inevitable outcome really. My only real disappoinment was
that Torres scored..just seconds after I said to the cat Well, at
least Torres hasn't scored.

What a great goal though (ours, I mean!) The pass from Thomas was superb,
and the finish simply magnificent. When I first saw it, I thought he had
scuffed it in off his ankle, but noon a greasy wet pitch, to
control that ball and place it so perfectly with one touch
was...well, from Becchio, nothing less than astounding!

Somma on the bench.that was a nice thing to see.

I was very impressed by Tonge, Brown, Green, Lees Pearce.

In Doha now, but I'll be at the Boro match on Satdy...can't wait!

Re: [LU] Another humiliation

2012-12-19 Thread Dr Michael Benjamin
Exactly that result.
Christ almighty any team can string a load of passes together or should.
My 'lads' in the third division in Israel can play 'professional'
football.
In recent years there are the humiliations [1-5 at home is a pure
humiliation] and the silver lining even in defeat. What silver lining is
there in a 1-5 defeat? .
The evil bastard Bates got it right when he said 'Morons'.
FFS we are Leeds United -- we go out to win . Not give excuses.
If any head coach of mine came on with the 'good points' in a 1-5 result
he'd get his ears ripped off. No matter who the opposition.
I will only accept that we always but always expect and aspire to win and
be best.
You talk about 'proper supporters' a true Leeds supporter is one that
expects nothing but victory and accepts no excuses.
The game went off the rails when we tried 'to play fucking football' and
let them play. They're better at that than us. So why did we do it? In
their faces and true grit got us to be 1-0 up.
That and arriving on the pitch after half time as if they had a post wank
lethargy.
Leeds United don't play football FFS -- they play to win. If that involves
'playing football' then fine. But don't give me that bullshit ' they're
better than us and we played well'. Bullshit. Even WHU don't do that .
Since when do we accept defeat gracefully?
I see the mindset 'right we've done enough to show we can now slack off.'
Completely and utterly unacceptable at Leeds United.
Good God what kind of Jessies are you with this 'he got out playing a
beautiful shot' attitude?
As you notice still fucking furious at that 1-5 defeat --- at home against
Chelsea FFS
