2015-02-15 Thread nat...@sky.com
Watching the highlights on TV the Rudy penalty looks even more certain. He was
fouled and it was in the box - penalty. In my report I forgot about the Mowatt
dive /penalty: after the great run and shot by Murphy the ball fell to Mowatt
who ran into the box and pushed it past the defender and went down. It is hard
even in slow motion to see if the defender trod on his foot or not, the
defender did accuse Mowatt of diving straight away IF that is worth anything.
So I am not sure if penalty or not but I have seen them given.Another point -
the ref got his spray out at one point and the Millwall one man wall stepped a
yard over it, the ref saw it and just moved him back - I was surprised it is
not an immediate and compulsory booking
Whatever your view of the game it is a great result and will go a long way to
keeping us safe even with some very hard games coming up. It also gives us some
hope for next year, if we can keep the young spine of the team, Taylor, Mowatt,
Cook, Byram, Murphy (yes Murphy) together and make a few additions we could
just be on the verge of something good and something we can be proud of

And I can't really argue against your Morrison assessment only to say, that he
is doing a job and also he didn't miss the chance of the game, Antenucci did.

More in line with me then Nick, I like your description 'bitty messy football'.
Sums it up perfectly. But hey a win is a win.

their centre forward found himself on his own inside our area but hit it

a 3 or 4 goal victory. We should have got a second when Rudy was clearly
tripped inside the box but instead of giving a penalty the ref booked him
and allowed the free kick to be taken outside the box - TV may show him
right and me wrong but, for me it was 100% penalty. Rudy then nearly scored
a goal of the season when a good move ended with him doing a flying scissor

decent chance that he put into the second tier of the South Stand. Despite
us not being great I never thought that they would score but was happy to

Yea, It's easy to forget how young the team actually is, and would have been
even younger if Cooper had been fit. Cook only turned 18 ten days ago.

The future's bright?

slogan goes 'going to football is not a crime'There is something about Millwall
however that does bring the dickheads out. I was in the West Ridings a bit
early today (11.30) and whilst it was empty last week v Brentford today by 12
it was 3 or 4 deep at the bar. Full of young wannabes - all in black anoraks
with Burberry scarves etc , not sure what they thought would happen with 170
Millwall and how much 'action' they expected. Even odder there were quite a few
older heads with them - reminded us of the Dick Emery skinheads and the 'I
think I got it wrong again Dad' sketches.
Whatever a good result and (I thought) a good performance that all but makes us
safe - on a side note I had my first bet for over 20years today when I put £5
on Morison getting the first goal , I will not be doing that again !!

Driving home and listening to Noel Whelan and the RL team I wondered whether I
had been at the same game. For me this was a poor quality game littered with
poor passing, mistimed tackles, missed chances and poor control all over the
pitch from both teams but I'd say mainly us as we had the lions share of
possession.

I thought we started really brightly shooting towards the Kop, with Byram,
Cook, Taylor and especially Mowatt all looking lively and we created one or two
decent the hearest coming from a great move which Byram side footed just past

Unfortunately it didn't last long and we faded badly and let a poor Millwall
side back in to the game. Our defence looked amateurish a times and Millwall
should have equalised with a couple of good chances the best ending up in the

On 30 minutes we got a free kick. Mowatt, our liveliest player in the first

Never said I wasn't happy, I love the young Leeds players - Mowatt, Cook and
Byram. I was just commenting on the 90 minutes of football and to watch I found
it incredibly frustrating at times. We had 3 shots on target all game, one went
in, the other was Rudy's ridiculous flying volley and the other a decent long
range effort from Murphy which was comfortably saved. Apart from that it was
poor finishing and mistake after mistake.

Fair enough Dave. Opinions and all that. I thought first 10 mins and last 10 of

mistake after mistake. Good win, but pretty poor I thought. I think even Noel
