Re: [LU] Yorkshire help
Nick On the trains check out a Brit rail England pass. It's only available to overseas visitors and allows a child to travel free with a paying adult. It's pretty flexible too. https://www.visitbritainshop.com/world/britrail-england-pass/ Alternatively check out the various rail passes on offer as buying one of these will probably save you more than it costs. If you end up buying standard tickets check out 2 singles v return. I'd second Ilkley as there's decent walking, and a nice little place (mind you, so is Otley, and a little closer still to Leeds). Easy access to the city. Bit posh overall, but liveable. Re: [LU] Yorkshire help
or go a couple of stops past Settle to Horton in Ribblesdale, Ribblehead or Dent - good walking - first two in reach of three peaks (don’t have to do all 3 in one go) - decent boozers/BBs in Dent - couple of pubs in Horton as well… alternatively, catch the train to Skipton, pick up the High Dales Way coming back south and you go through Ilkley and onto Saltaire (where you can have a real ale in Fannys and a curry at the Aagrar) - Skipton to Saltaire is 18 miles good walking, or if you stop at Ilkley that’s about 10 miles - both Saltaire and Ilkley are on the train line back to Leeds… many choices…your biggest problem for walking in Yorkshire might be that you’re here in November…can be bleak... The Dales look close but not sure if that would be the best place. - Would really like to overnight in a pub in the country somewhere. Any recommendations for a moderate budget? Would really like something traditional. - How to get the best (cheapest) tickets to travel from London to Leeds the morning of the game? This will be November 21st (Rotherham I believe). Many thanks for any help. Nick, For my money I would go for a train in and out of Leeds to somewhere like Settle and then check out the local spots there for accommodation (the Lion is one of our favourites http://thelionsettle.co.uk/rooms/ http://thelionsettle.co.uk/rooms/). Cheapest tickets to game will be from https://www.virgintrainseastcoast.com/ https://www.virgintrainseastcoast.com/but tickets for your travel dates aren't announced yet as you can only book 12 weeks in advance on the line from London to Leeds. Please ask any questions however daft you might think they are theres a lot of useful knowledge here :-) Betty ___ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org mailto:leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org MARCHING ON TOGETHER ___ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org mailto:leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org MARCHING ON TOGETHER ___ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: http://mailman.greennet.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org MARCHING ON TOGETHER
