Re: roping videos

2015-04-22 Thread CURTIS GEORGE
Bill I came up with an idea.
Lumberjocks gives the E-mail address of the person, I sent his gentelman a
invite to our group. and will start doing so with every Legacy user on there
web site. Perhap that way we can get some new blood moving with in our group.
more latter.

RE: roping videos

2015-04-22 Thread Bill Bulkeley
I have a feeling this guy might have made this machine himself just by looking
at its construction and also his other machines are painted the same colour and
have the same strong robust look to them as well

If this is so then milling those metal spirals it follows would be interesting

Hay Bill!

I agree. What I find neat about his machine is first the robust elements of his
unit. What I see there should not be any play with in his
slides/glides/bearings. With the double screw drive of the carriage, his
movement is Rock solid. (and I have never seen a screw anything like that
before.)

His router is also pretty Neat ! ;-)

Having said that, I agree with you about the Legacy being a much better
machine, (at least for my purposes ) for all the elements you already covered.

But I do find that. His Video cover quite a few elements that people here
could use, like the split turning, (paper Joint) The concept of how the
turnings/rope is made. and if you look at the final, you can see how he
combined the turning to make a long molding...

(could you imagine what I could get out of this video series, if I could
understand Spanish?) ;-)

For me, I see this Gentleman wood working skills and Craftsman ship , in this

video offer a lot, besides entertainment (which it dose.) and I was hoping
others here would enjoy it too. and perhaps see and learn something new form
watching...

I have to go.

Have a great day.

Also don’t try and hog it all out at once a few cuts with a light finishing cut
I find works well and for smoothing I use a sanding mop to

I believe I am having a problem with chatter. I am feeding from the head to the
tail stock at top center with various small diameter bits like v grooving and
pointed round overs experimenting with different looks and I notice none of the
cuts look smooth. I set the rpm about as high as it will go and use the handle
to give me consistent feed. Any ideas what I am doing wrong , after all it is
usually operator error.
